Stopped in for a drink with a friend and was not disappointed. They were out of my original beer selection, but the one that I had was still very good. Despite the fact that one was out, they still had a nice selection of crafts to choose from. Our waiter was very nice and made small talk that showed a genuinely polite nature and not just someone fishing for tips. The parking lot is small, but it is dedicated to the location. We ended up parked in the rear on the street. Two things of note... The chill in the air was very crisp because of the plastic "walls" in the siting area. It is probably not as noticeable at the bar. The other thing that was a little bit disturbing was seeing a baby seated at the bar with the parents. There is plenty of seating more appropriate, and all of it is has a good view of the TVs for watching the game. Had I been one of the patrons sitting at the bar, I would have been quite uncomfortable having a conversation appropriate to the situation. read more

We've been a few times now, for dinner and for brunch. As much as I want to love this place (it's walking distance, the food is good, decent beer selection, great waitstaff, lots of TVs and great patio), the one thing that's holding me back from saying it's a 5 star sports bar is the pricing. Everything here is just a dollar or two more than it should be. If you disagree, check out the menu at their Fort Worth location and notice that they are charging a dollar or two less for almost everything on the menu. PhD has been really great about offering up discounts, but tonight we went and ordered a burger, appetizer, and four beers. Our total before tax and tip would have been over $40. It upsets me to write this review as I've given this business many chances to change my mind. I live down the street and it is easy for me to walk over, grab food and a drink a few times a week and meet some friends. A while ago, the staff was regular, they were accustomed and super friendly to the regulars that came in. Lately, the staff is changing regularly, I have walked in several times and waited for way too long for someone to even acknowledge me while they were texting in the corner. I have called in many to go ordered and had to walk back many times because they were incorrect. I have sat and listened to the bartender speak inappropriately while there are children seated closely. The most recent incident that drove me to write this review was when I came in with 7 people on a quiet Saturday afternoon and our food took about 45 minutes to come out, our waitress NEVER filled our water OR cleared our plates. I had to get up to ask her to clear our plates and bring our checks. When she finally came over, she brought a bus bin and asked us all to pass our plates. I also found a giant hair in my food. 'This is in a great location with potential to have a great patio and atmosphere, but they are doing an awful job. read more

Fun place to watch a game, but as a restaurant, it's terrible. The wings are ok but everything else is just bad. Perhaps the worst burger I have ever had. Service is usually fine, but wow...someone needs to fix the kitchen. It's a friendly sports bar with cheap, commercial grade bar food that is prepared poorly. read more

I love Phd the bartenders are all great and the staff is super friendly and it's a great place to hangout and watch a game or meet friends.

This place is the worst. We got the nachos and they were just tostada shells with cheese and beans. A very sad pico de gallo and no sour cream (which it said it came with) plus the server took forever to take our order and forever to bring out our food. read more

I hate to give PHD 3 stars but tonight I have to. We live in The Cliff & frequent PHD often for drinks & dinner. The wait staff is great, much love to them, but the management not sure much. There was a show at the Kessler Theater across the street & our waitress was swamped, cooks were swamped, after over an hour wait for our food we were told it would be another 30 minutes or more before food would come out. We had a 3 year old & his pregnant Mom with us so that wasn't going to fly. This all falls back on the management of PHD, you should know when The Kessler has shows & staff according to that. Poor, poor management, the owners need to fire the general manager & hire someone competent to do the job. We asked for the manager & no one ever came out to our table. Such a shame, as there were people there for the concert who will never come to PHD again. read more

I went in on a Saturday in the early evening at a time when it seemed they were fairly slow. Would like to give more stars but the staff was not friendly nor knowledgable about their own beer selection. And the prices are rather high for this kind of place. Flies flies flies... How I despise!!! So my party of 4 decided to head to PHD for a nice Sunday brunch for the kids friendly options and $2 manmosas. To my disgust because we did not strategically sit near a fan my party and I would have to play tennis with their overly aggressive flies. Now sitting outside we understood that we might have to deal with some aspects of nature, however this is not my first visit to PHD and having sat inside before I encountered their domesticated indoor flies as well. After about hour of playing "shoo fly" I asked to have a fan moved to combat the action and my newly minted waitress stated it wasn't possible, after another 30 mins of fanning I finally asked to speak to a manager who only blamed this on their owners lack of care and concern. How their epic fly issue is not a health hazard I'm not sure but if you decide to come you might want 2 plus manmosas and to sit by a fan to fight the flies. read more

Finally a sports bar in oak cliff. We enjoy going to watch the cowboys on their patio. Service is spotty. On our last visit we waved the servers down but they ignored us for 15 minutes while we sat with no menus or drinks. Several servers walked by our table multiple times and ignored my husband trying to get thier attention. I even called the phone number to try to get service. Finally a waitress that had served us on a previous visit that goes by "Baby Girl" came from a different section to serve us. That being said, still the best place in oak cliff to catch a game. Patio is nice, lots of TVs and usually not too crowded to enjoy. read more

PHD is close to the house and I love a sports bar so I was excited when they came on board to the OC. Unfortunately, after a few times of mediocre food, I quit going :(..Alas, I heard they got a new cook and tried again. YAY!!!! That is what I'm talking about. I had the pourhouse burger and it was absolutely perfect. The bacon was cooked exactly right and crispy, the grilled jalepenos and mushrooms were a nice touch and those waffle fries...so yummy. I will def be back now and I'm looking forward to watching some games or listening to some live music. read more

I really like this place, wooden tables outside & flat screen t.v.s showing the latest sports. The building sits high so you can watch the cars go by or check out the iconic Kessler Theatre. I sat inside at the bar, had chicken and waffles -three tasty and crispy chicken wings, three squares of waffles cooked to perfection served with syrup, put them together at PhD and you are close to NIRVANA. Can you believe the salads are good too, it's a pretty big salad with fresh greens, elegant presentation with grilled chicken and blue cheese dressing. it filled up my big Buddha belly. read more

Yuck! I guess I just love good food and this place does Not have any. Ok I know. It's a sports bar; but if u serve food it should not only be good but it should be what the menu says you are ordering. 1st and last time I'll go to PHD was last week. If you're looking for even the slightest something healthy to eat that's Not fried, forget it. Specifically, the "pecan-crusted" chicken is nothing but chicken Fried chicken with some tasty but greasy sauce (I had mine on the side ). Two minuscule dark pieces of something that might have been pecan stuck on batter. No taste of pecan crust whatsoever. It's called deceptive menu-ing; call it what it is. Chicken Fried chicken NOT pecan-crusted. What a joke but it's not funny. . I peeled the greasy batter off and tried to just eat the chicken. Like all restaurant veggies, they were overlooked. One of my friends I was with got chicken fried steak. Disgusting looking and tasted like greasy mush, whatever that is. The tiniest little pre-formed, frozen, mc nugget -filled phony fried steak I'd ever seen. I don't even eat chicken fried steak because it's always sub-par meat and fried and greasy; but if you like that sort of thing the restaurants who serve it should attempt to make it good. Everything we ordered was gross and greasy. And in case you're wondering, we saw our waitress 3 times. When we asked for separate checks she seemed quite annoyed so I dropped her tip from 3 bucks to two. No tip would have been appropriate due to the nasty food. If you don't like food and just want to sit outside and get drunk watching something on tv, go to PHD. better choice would be watch your sports at home and order a pizza if you don't know how to cook. No stars for this review, but I can't figure out how to get the one star off. Sorry PHD! Even if I had been Full of beer I still would not want to eat here again. read more
