Hair salons are a dime a dozen...but if you are reading this you are probably like me and choosing…read morea salon and a Stylist is about as important as picking a doctor! We've all been there.. crying for days because your new cut makes you look like a squirrel!! Well sometimes life is kind and you find a cool comfortable salon and a Stylist that is not good, not average.. but is 100% an Expert Stylist. That is what I found (thankfully!) when I walked into Bixels Studios. I was greeted very warmly as soon as I walked in the door by a friendly guy who walked up to me before I even made it to the counter! I knew that this guy knew his stuff by the way he automatically touched my hair and knew exactly what cut would work with my fine hair - he also noted my personal style and was so easy to talk too! This friendly guy is Jake, the Owner of the salon. He makes you feel comfortable and secure because of his confidence and way of cutting is so expertly done! Is he pricey? Yep. But remember the aforementioned squirrel hairstyle that made you cry...? Well there is NO CRYING in Bixels Studio! Even tho I LOVED my cut, I called and asked if we could make an adjustment.. and he was so nice about it and did not charge me extra. Although they seriously need a new website, I'm so glad I walked in just to check it out. You should too! Ask for Jake.

I have been going to Jake Bixel for hair cuts and color for the past 20 years. Any woman will tell…read moreyou that's a long time to be loyal to one hairdresser! Why haven't I tried another hairdresser/salon in 20 years? Because there has been no need. Jake is a highly skilled professional who is kind and welcoming to all who enter his salon, whether it is a client or delivery person. He listens to his clients and asks if you have experienced any hair challenges since your last appointment. I think the biggest compliment that I can give is that a friend's mother said that if I hadn't told her I get my hair colored, she would have never known because it looks so natural. All of the hairdressers in his salon are extremely talented and personable. If you want to feel like a million bucks, call for an appointment at Bixels Salon in Mentor. (440) 357-9278

Tryst is the place to go to get ready for spring and summer! My family has been coming here since…read morethey opened over a decade ago. Obviously, the overall atmosphere is welcoming and professional and we love how we look and feel when we leave. But it's the things that are beyond the superficial that keep us coming back. The owner, Trish, is a true professional not only is she well trained but she makes sure her entire staff is trained in all the latest techniques and trends. I trust them with my thick curly hair and have no reservations about sending family and friends with thinner hair, hair with different textures or for corrective color. When they tell me my hair isn't conducive to a particular style or product, I believe them. The best advertisement is my hair looking great. I once was seated next to a client with black hair (box dye), I head the stylist explain the risks of going from an unknown dark dye to a platinum color. Those included unpredictable color variations and that it would take at least three visits to minimize any breakage. Looking at the before and after pics was amazing! Hair care is an art and a science and there is no place I trust more than Tryst and their wonderful staff.

I had been going to John Roberts salon in Chagrin Falls for 17 years for pedicures. I had been…read moregoing to Codie. Codie reduced her hours to one day a week, on Tuesdays, a couple years ago. Because of such limited appointment time, I was not able to get in with her this summer of 2024. In November 2024 I scheduled nine appointments to carry me through spring, summer and fall of 2025. I worked with Danita to schedule me. In the spring, for some reason, every one of my appointments had been canceled and replaced by other customers in my timeslots. I am told that nobody knows what happened. I talked with one of the co-owners several times. In the end, nothing was done. I felt they should have given me my appointments back with the person I made the appointments for. They offered me other dates, times and service providers. The co-owner, in a very friendly manner, told me I was always welcome there. I will not be going back.

My current stylist I have been going to is about an hour and half drive, so I was trying to find someone new and after this experience, I am making that 1.5 hour drive. Don't get me wrong, if you have normal hair, this place I am sure would be a great option for you, my personal experience there left me bummed. I told the stylist my hair needed to be thinned out and she didn't do it. She said it would be fine. She did a small trim and it made my hair lay heavy on my head. I tried helping the stylist understand what my hair needed but she didn't understand it. It is a clean location, small, but clean. I will not be returning though because I feel like they know the basics and cannot make adjustments when someone comes in with different hair then what they are used to.

My relatives hair is down to her lower back. On top of that, the stylist tries to charge extra for washing and blow drying my relatives long hair just because it was long. Rude stylists and staff, when we called to discuss this behavior with the owner, the girl who picked up the phone would not put us through to the owner and gave fake excuses as to why - saying the owner had clients all day but at the same time was not present in the salon. We will never come back to this salon.
