Great contact for diving in Tacoma, and great prices! I had non-diving friends move to Tacoma, and…read morefinally got the chance to visit from out of state. I was looking for a guided dive and had never been in open saltwater before. It was a bit of a last minute trip, and the shop was really really good about working with me to match me with a buddy, and had cheaper rental prices than all the other places I checked. Professional and easy to work with. I dove with Allen Raphael, and he was wonderful! Incredibly helpful, attentive to any questions I had, and was incredibly fun and knowledgeable about what we were seeing. I was also a little nervous, and he had a very easygoing calm personality while managing to get all the little details just right. I felt super safe and free to enjoy the dive, and he went the extra mile to work with me and my limitations, (no car, no place to dry gear overnight etc.) Lots of amazing sea critters too, lungfish, rockfish, nudibranchs, flounder, crabs and starfish of all sizes, sea cucumbers, anemone's...you'd never guess it's all down there by looking at the coast, and it's mostly all okay to touch! So incredible. Fantastic to work with, and we've already picked out the dives for my return trip!

Josh is also more then capable of working on Commercial Gear there is just another shop in Seattle that holds the right's for KMDSI service and sales, there is nothing Tacoma Scuba can do about that so it's not a negative. I have nothing but good things to say about this shop they have treated me very well!

Underwater Sports - Olympia is an honestly run local dive shop. I've taken various classes here,…read moreparticipated in myriad of shops dives, and purchased equipment here. I've always felt respected. You know how some speciality shops make you feel like your crashing a party just by showing up? Underwater Sports Olympia is completely antithetical to that. They strive to price their items to compete with online dive retailers from around the country sometimes even lower priced. Shop here for your diving needs.

Whoooo! Let me tell you! There is one guy who comes in on occasion, I think he was a commercial…read morediver. He is quite knowledgeable about Mares products and helps give information to people who want to cut it as a working diver. That aside, I love this place. It is fun to just hang out. You may have to work at a conversation but once you get the staff talking they are a lot of fun. Chris, the manager, does everything he can to get you the products you want. I mean he instantly calls other shops and it's hard to have everything you would want on hand, so Chris helps with the anguish of waiting with reasonable deals and consistent updates. The staff are top knotch! Mr. Holland taught me from Advanced up to Dive Master and I had so much fun the entire time. The shop does also offer lots of FREE dives to certified divers. They also offer regulator service, but it goes up to Seattle which is not a problem at all. This place is a second home.

I would be very very careful about spending your money here…read more We spent over $3,000 between a full setup of cold water dive gear and brownie 12v compressor that Harry recommended for our system and needs. On our first dive the compressor failed to perform as expected, it didn't fit our style of 12v plug (which was the reason we had purchased this particular system from Harry in the first place.) From Alaska we called Harry to deal with the problem he never returned our calls. We initiated phone contact 4 more times over our summer. Each time saying that he would look into the problem and each time never hearing back. We took it on ourselves to do extensive troubleshooting, we rewired the plug/made adapters, (all to no avail) the system would not work when plugged into either of our vessels. When we brought the compressor back in the fall to come up with a solution, it was the end of the summer dive season and he told us that it was in not in returnable condition. We used the unit for two 30 minute dives, cleaned it after each use and stored it in a storage bin afterwards for safe keeping. Harrys solution to the problem was to offer $0 in credit for a $2000 dollar unit and suggested an even more expensive units without even doing as much to removing the freight charges. Throughout the process he avoided accepting any responsibility for selling us a product that was incompatible with our system. Like the other one star review says, the rest of the staff seems really nice.

Been into this shop a couple times, to get some gear for my free diving. If you're lucky enough to…read moreget one of the younger salesman, you should have a fairly pleasant experience. just left the shop today , and not too pleased with the customer service. I bought in 80 cubic foot tank online. it was a smoking deal at a hundred sixty bucks for a new tank. I am using this to charge my pre charged pneumatic air gun. When I walked into the shop with my nice shiny tank, there was no one and I mean no one on the sales floor. the door chime had gone off, but apparently everyone was too busy to notice. after about 5 minutes unattended in the shop by myself I began to wonder if anyone was at work today. when Harry finally walked out of his office and was able to help me the first thing he asked was what he could help me with. I responded by telling him I needed my new tank inspected and charged. the very next thing he said was did you just walk over and grab that off the floor? as he gestured towards his tanks. I responded by saying no I brought it with me. so then I got the 5th degree about where I got it, when I got, it how much I paid. excuse me! Did you really just accuse me of trying to steal a darn air tank! are you freaking kidding me. Maybe he should have been on the floor! That's his bad, not mine. Then to top it off, I was given the speech about how I should have bought my tank from him, it would be cheaper by $20. But if that was the case why do all his tanks have a sticker on them that say $199.99? So I'm not sure whether he thinks I'm just stupid or what. but by my math his tanks were $39.99 more then i paid. Needless to say I was extremely insulted and will be taking my business to one of the other four dive shops in my immediate area. And if I get grief when I try to pickup my tank, I'll be asking LPD to stop in. Keep your receipts people!
