So I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, but being I had to take my dog to the vet after a visit here I have been very busy. Well first off I tried this petsmart for the first time, dropped my dog off for an hour for all the essentials. My dog came back clean but smelled of perfume. Day after grooming I go to see he has bruise marks all over his body as if someone was holding him down forcefully but I didn't want to assume. Looks as if he had a reaction to perfume with forceful tactics to groom him. Since the vet never found a cause to why he had bruising. Which went away so it was bruising. However my dog had never had problems like this before. Long story short I believe the workers who dealt with my dog where not so friendly. I would never come back here. I've recently taken my dog somewhere else and why did he not come back with the same bruising. I am so disappointed in petsmart. read more

I just want to warn anyone people of the rude lazy person I encountered today. I was sick at home with the flu sent my husband in to take our dog, first thing that pissed me off is they wouldn't do a full body haircut on my maltipoo. According to the groomer SHE didn't feel she was ready. This would be her third appointment, first two were to get her ready for the full haircut. The only way at this point to get her ready was to do the DAMN haircut. She caught an instant attitude because she didn't want to do it. She then went on to tell me that I need to bring her for at least two puppy trims first, which I did, so I wasn't trying to hear that. Then when going over what she could do she was short and rude. Tried to tell me I would spend a fortune(her words) if I went ahead with the haircut because two people would need to groom my 2 pounds dog. Which I didn't care to Pay!!She Then went to grabbed my puppy hella rough and point In her face just unnecessarily rough with hella attitude. Tried to mumble to my husband that this picture I sent him in with is exactly what she already looks like when she doesn't at all. When I asked how long the trim would take,because there were quoting me 2 hours when the couple times she came before it took 45 min, she walked away from My husband and told her coworker she didn't want to tell us. I'm so mad my husband left her with that evil trash but I sent him right back to pick her up. The manager is always professional and helpful so I might pick some things up there, but as of grooming, NOPE!!! My dog is my baby I would never leave her with somebody as nasty as the big trashy groomer was!!! Find another job lady your don't have the heart for this!!! It's definitely a small and compact store in the corner in the same shopping center as Whole Foods and Rocco's Ristorante Pizzera. It does have a good assortment of pet food and I believe even fish. There's plenty of parking, however it can get a bit crowded on Friday night and on the weekends. There's also a smaller parking lot in the back of the store, if you're looking for a quick pick up from the pet store. read more

I have been using Petsmart grooming services for 15 years with multiple dogs. I started with the one on willow pass and then moved to ygnacio valley rd when they opened. The grooming department has postponed my appointments 7-10 times in past 8 months NOT BECAUSE OF COVID. Because the manager of grooming salon cannot manage her employees as they apparently just don't come to work OFTEN. That would be why people lose their jobs. The last straw was yesterday when I had already been postponed for the last 2 weeks and she called half an hour before I was set to drop off and said several people called out and they would have to push me another week. Thus my dog would have been done 3 1/2 weeks after initial employee. I called Petsmart willow pass and they understood and took me right away. I would not recommend the grooming salon or Dawn as a Manager for that matter. read more

I like the petsmart part I always shop here. But I was very upset about the grooming. They charged me for a brush out, special handling and almost for other add ones that I didn't ask for. My show dog turned out hideous and they only spent an hour and 30 minutes on him. I don't think I'll come back to the grooming department. I booked for Autumn and I didn't get her. And my small dog is was charged $70 for grooming. I am very displeased. I don't cry over my own haircuts but I cried for my poor dogs haircut. He has a ugly hump on his head. We just had yet another horrible experience at the grooming salon here. We have a large dog and this is a third time when we show up to the appointment just to hear that they can't take her. First it was the broken dryer, today she seemed stressed and was denied service. The groomers don't want to take large dogs if it means they can't be done quickly. It's so frustrating because they are rude and entitled and have zero concern for the time it takes to drive the dog to the groomer three cities away. This particular groomer, Teresa, yelled and hung up on me when I asked how can they do that to a customer. Horrible service, horrible management. I will never go back. read more

For the grooming department stay far aware. I booked a bath and furminator appointment for my lab. First they canceled on me because they were sick. I get a new appointment a few days later and a hour later super conflicting with my schedule but decide to do it anyways. Do all the pre check in online to get there and wait 10 minutes looking at dog poop smeared on the floor right next to where I was sitting and waiting to be checked in. The only groomer there was doing a nail trim on this cute little white dog and was getting so aggravated with it. It wasn't even being that naughty or biting just not staying perfectly still. She kept telling him no, stop, NO Dude. Like have a little respect and don't say things like that while clients are present. I get it. It was 6pm and who knows how bad a day it was for that groomer but it stressed me out and my dog. Very negative energy, overworked, and burnt out staff is all I felt in the few minutes I was there. My dog and I walked out and never will return to this location. read more

My partner and I spent all day looking for a cat to adopt and didn't come across two we felt a connection with until we visited this store, 40 minutes before close (we were worried someone would come the next morning adopt them or worse- only adopt one of the bonded pair) the ladies helped us fill out paperwork and get everything we needed to welcome two kittens into our home as first time cat owners they were so helpful running around the store for us and answering all of our questions until we had everything a minute before closing. They really went above and beyond as employees and we are so appreciative! read more

PetSmart is our go-to place for treats, toys, and the annual Santa pictures. This is our second year for Santa pictures. This review is for the two guys who were Santa and Santa's helper. I wish I only got their name because they showed exceptional customer service. We went to get Santa pictures and they came out great! We are very appreciate for these two guys especially since our pup was running around and being curious. Worst part was that he accidentally threw up and pooped but they weren't even phased by it. They helped us clean it up and kept assuring us that it was ok. We offered to tip them but they said to just donate at the front which we did. Love the staff here. Have never had an issue here. Can't wait to come back for Santa pictures next year. read more

One Fish, Two Fish, Dead Fish. My Fiancé wanted a Goldfish for my 15 month old son after seeing Elmo and his pet fish Dorothy. So we went searched on YELP on a Saturday evening for a spot that happened to be only 5min from our home. The boy was so excited when he strolled in and saw the tiny fish swimming around their aquariums. NOTE: If you want to buy a fish or interested ask the Cashier as you walk in to get assistance in the Fish section. We wanted Goldfish for sure but I wanted 3 so they wont be lonely and two of them can bully the weaker one. It exist in the animal kingdom it exist in human nature. So I grabbed a 2 gallon fish tank and some Fish food, selected two small 40 cent gold fish and 1 bigger $7.99 one so he wouldn't get bullied. The Pet attendant said "you're gonna need a bigger tank". I was like "JAWS" juxtapose. We looked at the options and got upsold to a 10 gallon tank set that came with filter and lights and the box showed Easy care package inside. Apparently Fish need fish conditioner they wont live in tap water alone. $80 later checked out and returned home with additions to the family. Open the fish tank box installed the lights, filtration system, lid, etc. Upon further investigation, the box didn't come with the package that included fish conditioner. The box deceived me and the Pet attendant who told me it came with it. I was like I've got a filter these fish should survive the night, so I let them loose. They didn't survive the night they didn't survive the hour. I made the emergency run back to PETSMART and spoke with the Assistant Manager. They got me the Fish Conditioner, Aqua Bacteria, and Easy Care for a penny each. I also got the 2 small dead fish replaced. I felt bad and gave them both a proper flush and thought about Buddhism ideology. On my way home I received a text from my Girl saying the $8 dollar "Dorothy" didnt make it. I came back 2 days later explained my situation to the Manager who consoled me about the passing and more importantly reimbursed me for the dead fish. The PETSMART staff in Walnut Creek have excellent customer service very helpful and will be utilizing them for all my Pet and needs. May Dorothy, and the other 2 unnamed Goldfish RIP. This review will help them live on and maybe save a Fish's life by educating dummies like me about Fish Conditioner. read more

First time at this PetSmart for the grooming service and we luckily had Sara who was very sweet and communicated with us very well. She called before our appointment letting us know that she had extra spots available if we wanted to come earlier (which was a nice gesture) and also was very patient with our Pomeranian. Our Pomeranian can be aggressive with strangers (and even growled/showed teeth) in the beginning when we tried to put him on the leash into the groomer. In the end she said he wasn't that bad ! Baileys pawgress report lol. She absolutely loves her groomer. we had to fallow autumn from Pittsburg to Walnut Creek because she's so gentle and loving with bailey. Every other groomer we have tried sent bailey back shaking with anxiety but not autumn she's amazing with her. She always comes back wagging her tail with a smile on her face. (I'll snap a pic when I can) the thing is bailey is soooooo skittish that when she hears someone's tone of voice get a tad bit high she's completely done and anxiety breaks loose. I saw her cut her hair one time and bailey was hugging her lol and autumn cut her hair that way and it didn't look easy. It's just the little things that autumn does to make accommodations for my dog that makes us love her read more

We have been taking my dog, Berkeley here several times now. We have tried a few people at the beginning but Teresa is by far the best. She always does a good job and is always considerate to call with updates since we don't like our dog in the kennel for long if waiting. She is nice and knows what she is doing. Beware of added fees for groming!! Really dissapointed with the grooming service. I set up an appointment for a bath and cut for my tiny dog. The website was being super glitchy. On the day of I called to confirm my appointment since I hadnt received a confirmation call and they said they didnt have a record of my appointment. Frustrating. I was able to book an appointment online for $43 for several days later. Directions were simple, just shave him down. As Im dropping him she mentions there could be extra fees if the dog has any mats. This is a tiny dog, perfectly sweet and well behaved, getting a full shave. Not excessively matted. No fancy cut necessary. They ended up tacking on the max amount they could upcharge. A 33% increase to the price. Not to mention he was nicked in several spots. Sorry Petsmart but if your groomer finds a full shave on a well behaved dog so challenging they need to upcharge THAT excessively something is off. Adios petsmart! read more

Our favorite groomer quit and it has not been the same since then. There have been some small issues, but we have continued to bring him back. Today was the final straw. Miranda, in the grooming salon is an extremely angry person. She was very hostile from the minute we went to pick our dog up and ended up refusing to get our dog out of the back so another employee had to step in. We were shocked. Miranda says our dog tried to bite her which we have never been told before and wanted to get more information. She then told us to talk to her manager and stormed off. read more

I don't often feel the urge to submit reviews but this experience deserves your attention. The grooming staff at this Petsmart location was the absolute worst I've ever had. In fact, the staff, and in particular Julie, the salon manager at the time, made the arrival so stressful that my dogs couldn't even stay to be groomed. Everything about Julie was unsettling and off-putting. Instead of trying to calm my dogs, she seemed uneasy and argumentative. When she was nervous and uncomfortable around my older dog, we all became more stressed out. And despite my efforts to comfort my dogs and offer the groomers suggestions for what might be helpful, their immediate response was the opposite of concern or empathy. Instead, they may it clear that if they couldn't figure it out how to work with my dog, I would be called to come retrieve them. Sure enough, 10 minutes after I left, they called to advise me that my dog was so agitated that she had pooped all over herself, something she's never ever done. I can only imagine the stress she was feeling and couldn't get there fast enough to save them from this staff and any further time in their care. I arrived quickly and was given my dogs without any comment. No one apologized. No one said how unfortunate this was. Nothing. Clearly customer service is not a concept they understand or value. Suffice it to say, my dogs have never been to a pet store or groomer that was so clearly incompetent. Petsmart and this salon have lost my business for good. read more

Fish all have ick and they cannot get rid of it. It's been over 2 months. Their tanks are all on the same filtration so they are all sick. They also never answer their phones and if they do they put you on hold and never come back so the phone system rings through again and again until it hangs up on you. read more

Hi my name is Teresa! I am a groomer at this location. I got a horrible review because I care about the safety of pets that I groom.. the review by Alina stated I yelled. Which I did not. I stood up for myself. I will not be bullied. I was very nice on the phone explaining everything that had occurred, was very apologetic because no one likes to send a dog home. It's hard on us too. Up until the client got upset and accused me of sending a dog home simply because "I did not want to groom it." I countered that was not the case, and it is offensive & unfair to tell me what I did or did not want to do. She then got upset, and stated she would be calling my manager. I gladly gave her my managers name said goodbye and hung up the phone. We also do not discriminate against large dogs. And there was no mention of not having any time, because I certainly did. There is only one reason I will send a dog home once in my care and it is safety. Safety is my #1 priority. Yes your dog has been with us many times before. I have groomed her before. But she was stressed today. And I will put safety above everything. Including grooming your pet if I feel it is unsafe to do so. Coming in the salon yelling that I should be ashamed of myself and you hope I get fired is unacceptable. And I am not ashamed. I will stand by my decision to keep your pet safe. I'm also sorry you've had to be rescheduled due to our water heater, (not our blow dryer) going out last month. It was frustrating for us as well. Management was trying their best to get it back running. And we were trying our best to make it right. We cannot wash dogs in cold water it is too much of a safety risk and unfair to the pets. (There is another review on here that's not about me, BUT I do feel I should mention that we do in fact put water bowls in every kennel for every pet.) read more

The manager has a poor attitude and needs customer service training ASAP! I am a frequent customer and utilize the grooming service department every couple of months but the experience I had today was so awful I felt the need to save other customers from the negative experience I had today. While paying for the services I shared my concerns with the manager, of the intake process and how I received a call from the groomer during the service. This left me feeling that they were not capable of taking care of my dog or doing a good job. The manager responded "but did you see your dog?", as if my concerns were not acknowledged or it wasn't important to correct the problem if the groom was good? If you do not want to worry about your pet when you drop them off, please choose another petsmart location! I will never bring my dog back to this location again due to the manager. I'm rating this place with a one star and That's me being generous and since PetSmart covered my pets visit to Banfield.. I took my pup Daly initially just for a sanitary cut then got a call from their groomers and was informed he had some matting on his front legs. I told the groomers to try and brush it out and to cut as little as possible since my pup is a tad bit scared of the clippers. When I got the call back to pick daly up I was appauled to what i say. The groomer shaved off his front legs ONLY!! when i was VERY Specific to take as little off as possible!! It's only hair so i didn't cause a scene and paid and walked off... Later that day we noticed our pup licking his back side and legs more than usual and that's when we noticed that he had cuts on his legs, backsides and testicles... These were all injuries sufferred from the clippers as the groomer who groomed our pup injured him. I don't even want to think what they did. Pictures attached are from the vet visit. read more

I called the grooming department to find out if they could express my dogs anal glands. They said yes and that I would just be able to walk in. When I got there and they found out that I was a new customer they said they needed my dogs rabies certificate. I feel they should've mentioned this on the phone. Their excuse was they didn't know I was a new customer. Well duh!! Shouldn't they have asked to make sure during the phone conversation? It was a waste of an hour of my time and it really did not sit well with me. I found another groomer at Petco downtown Walnut Creek and went there instead. I will not go back to this Petsmart.
