Melissa is one of the best groomers I have had for my 2 shih tzus. She really pays attention to what you want style-wise when you drop them off. Her cuts are symmetrical & she has a great sense of style & what might look best for your dog. I feel fortunate that her shop is so close to where we live & that I am able to book an appt online that is not weeks & weeks away too. My dogs are not all wound up when they get home from their grooming because she keeps a well controlled & calm environment for them while they are with her. Many other places I've been to do not have bowls of water out for them to drink but Melissa always has fresh water out for them which I feel is super important especially for my 2 tiny Senior Shih Tzu dogs who have a difficult time with the heat due to their brachycephalic (flat face anatomy). It can be tricky trying to find her salon but if you just turn into the parking lot on the opposite side of the road directly across from Jack in the Box in Lafayette, you will find it towards the back parking areas. read more

We used this place for many years, just because it was convenient by location, the service was ok, not so perfect. Last time the groomer took the dog for entire day with no foot and water. For some reason the service was not done at all, just washing and combing. No cutting at all, not even trims as expected and as suppose to be done. After that She charged full price. When i call and ask to redo this jobs, she start yelling at me and to be so rude. Mentioning what my dog is very old and i have to brush him by myself.... I highly recommend Melissa for the excellent service she provided at our last visit. Our dog had a tooth extracted during a recent veterinary procedure and I was told that they would use absorbable sutures which should disappear within a couple of weeks so that I would not need to go back for another visit at the vet. I was unaware that the vet forgot to do this and actually placed non-absorbable sutures. When I came to pick up our dog after his grooming appointment, Melissa informed me that she found a suture in our dog's mouth and removed it. She said that she has had some years of experience as a veterinary technician and takes it upon herself to look at the dogs thoroughly and not just simply to groom them. Who does an oral exam at a grooming appointment? Someone who actually cares about the well-being of a dog. If Milo could say thank you then he would. I tried, but I'm so annoyed that I have to write a review. Not only because my dog was not groomed as discussed but because the owner was honestly so off putting that I won't ever be back. I made an 11:30am appt - she didn't even get to my dog until 2pm - which means he sat in a cage for 2.5hrs. I got there and I watched and she asked me to enter my address and phone # into her phone (which I had already done that online when I made the appt so she should have utilized that information, IMO). I showed her my inspiration photo of my dog and texted it to her and she immediately said his hair isn't long enough to do that (actually my dogs hair was longer than the inspiration photo so it should have been a trim job but I'll let you see the pictures yourself). She asked if I wanted half the length or less than half the length. I said I don't know - she rolled her eyes and said you have to tell me and I, again, referred to the photo I brought stating I like this length so whatever achieve this is what I want as I don't speak in groomer terms so I wanted to be clear with a photo and explain what I liked about the photo. I like how the hair is all the same length - his ears aren't longer and his beard isn't longer - it's all the same length on his face - this is also known as the teddy bear cut in groomer terms. I do not like it when his face is shaved looking I told her. This is literally what I said to her. WTH! She called me at 2pm and said I'm starting him now and should be done around 2:40pm. I arrived right at 2:40pm in the parking lot and sat in my car to send out a quick work email and all of a sudden she was banging on my window and in an exasperated voice said "I have to pick up my kid. I need to go!" I told her I had no idea and got out immediately to get my dog. For one, I think that was unprofessional. For two, if you were so tight on time you should have mentioned it in your phone call at 2pm that "hey by the way, I have to pick up my child from day care so are you able to get here right at 2:40pm?" I just saw my dog and all I wanted to do was get out of there and never go back. She literally shaved him and completely disregarded the photo. Good freaking lord. How difficult is it to trim him down to all the same length? Honestly? Never going back and definitely spreading the word. read more

The person working there was extremely rude, borderline aggressive, because I booked the wrong service. It was a very disturbing experience, and I will never return there. She was yelling and screaming at me, which made me feel unsafe. It was a horrible experience, and I don't recommend it to anybody, even though I am generally very supportive of small businesses. I know they used to treat dogs well and give excellent haircuts, but in the last year something's changed and I definitely don't trust them any longer. I want to start this review by saying MELISSA is amazing. We have been taking our teacup yorkie to her for years. There are some medical issues going on with Melissa, which makes this harder to have to write this review. The only reason I am writing this review is because she caused serious harm to my dog's ears. Here is a picture of the cotton ball that was shoved so deep in her ear that I had to take her to the vet to get out. The woman that she has left her business in the hands of is not only unqualified, but she is horrible to have to work with. I dropped our dog off at 9 am and was told it would be 4 hours tops... she said she would fit Lady in because she is so small. She also asked me to text and she would give an updated time. After texting with no response, I waited the full 4 hours and went in. Not only was Lady not done, the woman was rude in saying it would take another hour. I had work, so I said I had to step out and make a phone call to make arrangements for pick up. The woman chased me out of the store with Lady, telling me I couldn't leave her if I wouldn't be able to pick her up. It was at that time I told her, again, I was trying to make arrangements but the woman wasn't having any of it. She was rude, told me that she wouldn't groom my dog and then tried to charge me for not doing anything. read more

I thought I'd try out this groomer as it is close to my mom's house. It was a mistake and I will never go back. It might be the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Not only were they incredibly rude to me, they did a very poor job grooming. The only positive thing I can say is at least my dog wasn't injured. It was our first time taking our schnauzer pup a few months back and the groomer was so rude. Not welcoming at all...looked at my dog and us like we were inconveniencing HER even though we had an appt. She was rude my husband said we will just leave and walked away. She was offended and proceeded to tell us she wasn't taking us as a client because he walked away. He walked away because of the rude and stand off attitude from the get go and we were not leaving our precious pup with her. After a week of being excited to meet her and take our pup there...we were very very let down. We will always walk away from negative vibes regardless what your reasons are for it or excuses. Worst experience ever! The lady got so mad and was so rude because I showed off before she reached out (provided she did not answer my text and I urgently needed to head out) she charged me full service and although it is the place policy to so I'd showing up before time is up, it was her attitude and lack of understanding/empathy that really got me upset! We went one time previously and everything was fine. Made a second appointment and our au pair went to drop our puppy off and was met immediately with rude behavior. The person working stated she doesn't accept dogs this size. However I had a direct conversation with her previously and confirmed our 19 lb. puppy was still acceptable. She also stated she had knotted fur, which was not the case because I even brushed her myself yesterday. She was rude to my au pair stating she didn't understand English. When in fact our au pair didn't understand why she wouldn't accept our puppy for our confirmed appointment. I booked this three weeks ago and is honestly impossible to find any appointment right now but we will never be going back. Coming off of a year with so many challenges I am still continuously disappointed at our lack of cultural sensitivity and how we treat each other. Edit: in response to the business owner's reply... It's a little scary to think that if you leave an honest review you're subjected to her foul mouth bashing. The fact that Melissa has to lie to try to cover up what happened is a little scary and makes me glad I didn't trust her with my dog. They took my sweet senior dog in NO issues. My boy gets nervous around groomers and they were SO gentle, catering and loving that he didn't need a muzzle! (Muzzles help him focus his nerves, he can't really bite being he has no front teeth... cause he's a senior dog). As a previous reviewer indicated, a lot of attitude came my way. But my dog did get a nice cut. Too bad it took so long and created such hostility. If your dog has any anxiety issues with being at the groomer, you should look elsewhere. $10 above other groomers, as well. Stay far away from this place. Melissa is absolutely awful and disgruntled. She began negative and stressed out because she was "behind in her schedule". I offered to bring my dog back later since she was only going to cage him for a couple hours before starting. She said no and claimed he would be fine as she put him in a cage Then, she refused to cut him how I said and told me he would be last priority regardless of his appointment because he had a few mats. She told me how wrong I was for bathing him myself and that I didn't do a good enough job prior to coming here. It was going to be our first time here, but she continued to berate me saying "people like you disgust me" and other awful things. I asked to leave and have my dog back, so she verbally attacked some more, threatened to call the police and called me names. I am shaking from how horrific that experience was and really feel afraid that if she treats humans (and clearly herself) as poorly as this, imagine how she treats an animal. You really need to do your research first and I failed to do so. I saw that the salon was well rated in Google and trusted that. Clearly I'm not the only one she has been awful to after reading these yelp reviews and I will be sure to spread the word to stay far away from this nightmare.
