    # Do Not Recommend - Poor Communication and Rushed Care…read more **1/5 stars** I do not recommend this place at all if you are seeking best-in-class advisement regarding health care for your pet. My experience here was deeply disappointing and concerning. I took my pet to Good Vet Wharf DC on February 2025 for a consultation. When I explained my pet's symptoms to Dr. Nafisi, he seemed to be in a rush to get to other pet patients. While he did recommend that I follow up with additional testing for my pet, he did NOT take the time to explain the urgency of the test in relation to my pet's symptoms. Since my pet had a positive physical exam, I did not understand that this was an essential test that needed immediate attention. This lack of communication stands in stark contrast to my previous veterinarian, who I only stopped seeing due to relocating to a new area. My former vet would always take the time to explain and stress the significance of any recommended tests and their timing to ensure optimal pet health, which I always acted on immediately, especially if I was made aware that the symptoms could be relevant to any major health issue(s). This thorough communication helped me make informed decisions about my pet's care. When I brought these concerns about the poor communication to Dr. Nafisi's attention by phone, his response was shocking. He claimed that explaining test urgency and significance was the responsibility of the intake staff, which is ridiculous since at the time of the appointment, the intake staff was not in the room during my pet's physical examination. The intake staff only bears the responsibility of providing a report on what exams and vaccinations are due. Dr. Nafisi did not share any veterinary expertise to inform proper care for my pet, essentially deflecting his professional responsibility to educate pet owners. While my pet was ultimately seen at another veterinary practice for her care and eventually passed away, I am taking the time to forewarn other pet owners about this practice. They appear to be too focused on opening new locations versus their duty of care to animals and their pet owners. Proper education of pet parents should be a fundamental part of veterinary care, not an afterthought delegated to non-medical staff. Pet owners deserve veterinarians who will take the time to thoroughly explain their pet's condition, recommended treatments, and the urgency of follow-up care. Unfortunately, Good Vet Wharf DC failed to meet this basic standard of veterinary practice.

Staff was great initially, happy to have a neighborhood vet. After 6 months....horrible. They…read moreclosed the office the day my dog was scheduled for surgery and did not notify me. I showed up and the door was locked, the lights were out and a note on the door saying they would reopen the next day. After speaking with Dr Sharma, the owner, I rescheduled. The day of pre-op testing, I received a call cancelling the testing and surgery and was told the new vet did not have license to provide medication and surgery. I was told Dr Sharma was unavailable as she was busy opening additional clinics in the area. I asked to cancel my contract and for a call back. It's been a week and no one has contacted me or responded to my email. Recommend they not expand without shoring up current business.

During the procedure, my kitten went into cardiac arrest while under sedation before the anesthesia. Her heart stopped for approximately five minutes before she was revived. Afterward, she was completely unresponsive, and only recently has she begun to show minimal signs of recovery, such as slight movement and soft meowing. This has been absolutely devastating. What makes this even more upsetting is that no pre-operative bloodwork was required or included to ensure she could safely tolerate sedation or anesthesia. For such a young and small kitten, this should be standard or at least strongly recommended and clearly explained as part of the spay package since she was given a higher dose than her sister that made it through based on weight which should have been the same dose. I also believe anesthesia protocols should not be based on weight alone, especially in very young kittens. Age, overall health, and organ development should be carefully considered, along with very conservative dosing and close monitoring. I sincerely hope technicians and staff are extremely careful with anesthesia doses in the future to prevent another family from going through this and hope they are very well trained with no distractions or atleast take accountability. This was not just emotionally traumatic but entirely preventable with better precautions and transparency. No pet parent should experience this during a routine procedure. I am heartbroken, traumatized, and deeply disappointed. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who wants to feel confident about their pet's safety. Besides that I appreciate the staff I spoke to t That kept giving me a update and Dr that tried their best to update me with my kitten and monitor her with care after she was revived who sadly passed away 24hours after when we thought she was going to make it through

Nothing but amazing things to say about this SPCA!!…read more The location has only been open for a few months. It's at the edge of DC in SE but right off the highway so it makes the travel there a little more convenient. We were able to get a spay appointment for our cat relatively easy and the pricing was way more affordable the going to her regular veterinarian. On the day of our cats surgery the drop off process was easy. There were a ton of other cats there getting serviced too. The team was incredibly kind especially Stanza working behind the front desk. We dropped kitty off at 8:30 am and she was ready by about 3 pm. Her healing process has been going great after a week. We ended up stopping back in to get a plastic cone instead of the smaller blue ones that they have because she was licking her wound a little bit. The team offered great service and swapped the cone and took a quick look at her in about 10 minutes. I haven't been to another shelter before but everyone here felt like they genuinely loved their jobs. Big smiles and super excited to see all of the animals come in. Definitely check them out if you're looking to adopt or get your pet checked out by the vet.
