I don't have enough words to express how grateful I am to Dr. Worn for the exceptional care she gave to my dog throughout his life, and especially during his final days. From routine visits to more complex issues, Dr. Worn always treated my dog with kindness, skill, and genuine care. She took the time to answer all my questions, explained everything clearly, and truly listened, not just to me, but to my dog's needs and comfort. When it became clear that it was time to say goodbye, Dr. Worn was incredibly gentle and compassionate. She created a calm, peaceful environment and treated the moment with the respect and tenderness it deserved. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but her presence made it bearable. I will always be thankful for the grace and empathy she showed during such a painful time. If you're looking for a veterinarian who truly cares, not just about animals, but about the people who love them, Dr. Worn is that rare kind of doctor who brings both heart and expertise to everything she does. Thank you, Dr. Worn, for everything.

    Blu Mt.

Blu, our beautiful Pitty was in extreme distress. You took her and her dad in quickly, Helped her through a rough time and assisted her dad at the end. Your kindness was appreciated by the whole family. In towne and out. When we picked her up to take her to her final resting place, the warmth and kindness continued. Thank you.

Dr. Jarvinen and her entire staff are fantastic. We were unfortunately frequent visitors with our Golden Retriever Lotta. Skin issues and finally cancer. They cared for her as much as we did. We found a fantastic oncologist through them which enabled a few more positives weeks. When the final decision had to come, they were so kind and caring. We got to spend some private time with her prior. They even fixed her a tray of things to enjoy, that dogs normally cannot have. I wish there was a better way to let them know how much we appreciated the care they gave to our cherished Lotta.

Since our dog's primary clinic had already closed for the day, we urgently needed emergency care. We started calling around but had difficulty finding a veterinarian in Alexandria who could see us right away--until we reached the Veterinary Emergency Group at 4525 Duke Street. From the moment they answered the phone, the experience was exceptional. The staff member who took our call immediately reassured us that Tammy could be treated and calmly instructed us to bring her in right away. That reassurance alone meant a great deal during what was a very stressful moment. When we arrived, Dr. Rohan Shah saw Tammy immediately and began treating her without delay. His professionalism, calm demeanor, and clear expertise were incredibly reassuring. He and the entire staff treated Tammy with urgency, compassion, and genuine care, while also taking the time to explain what was happening and what they were doing to help her. Thanks to their quick action and outstanding care, Tammy was in the best possible hands during a frightening situation. The level of professionalism, kindness, and efficiency we experienced was truly remarkable. I cannot recommend the Veterinary Emergency Group highly enough. So would we come back to VEG ER, an emergency veterinary clinic? Yes, an emphatic yes as a matter of fact. The staff, including the two doctors who examined and treated Pablo were professional, calm, reassuring and compassionate. The only exception was the one assistant who got ruffled when she tried to take Pablo's temperature rectally and he didn't like it and took a light swat at her. The assistant got pissed and dramatically tossed the thermometer back into a drawer. They gave Pablo a sedative, a pain shot, and an antibiotic. The sedative doesn't make the pet unconscious but limp like a rag doll. What I didn't know vets do is after the treatment, is to give pets a "de-sedative" to roust them. Pablito is recovering quickly and will be fine. The clinic also tries to put pet owners at ease, proving comfortable chairs, courtesy snacks and coffee. The clinic is one big room, what VEG ER calls an open concept. It was busy when we there, but we were still checked in and seen quickly. The clinic is modern with an admittance form that you can fill out and send in before you even get there. Their invoices and doctors notes are also available instantly and electronically.

I regret not taking him to any other emergency animal hospital for his end of life purposes. I called the Georgetown location initially as I was in a state of panic (he was ten plus years old, I adopted him in December 2025 knowing he had a heart murmur and was also deaf. He was brought to DC by who saved him from a kill shelter and he was very loved) as he had simply collapsed on the dining room floor and passed away immediately - traumatizing to say the least. The woman who answered my call at the Georgetown location was helpful and she gave me the phone number to the closer location to me - H Street. Once we arrived, I called the phone number to let them know we were there as we needed assistance getting him inside (they were aware of this and instructed me to call upon arrival). I was outside of the door watching my phone call go unanswered as my mother, a retired vet tech, and brother-in-law waited at the car with my deceased boy. After a dozen rings, my call was answered and they informed me they would get a stretcher and meet us outside. They were prompt in getting him from the car without any further communication. I followed them into the building and they took him into a room and immediately left. I sat there with his body wrapped in a blanket on the table/stretcher until another person came in. I was handed a clipboard and told to fill out the paperwork and once complete, to ring the bell and they would come back in. There was NO introduction. No asking of his name or what had happened. No care whatsoever about who he was or how he passed. I, devastated and distraught, offered a bit of his story up and it was dismissed rather quickly. The paperwork was taken and I was told to go up front and pay. My dog was left there in a blanket on the table like a heap of garbage. Nobody, not one person, introduced themselves to us. Not a single person took the time to show any sympathy or interest in us or my dog. They never uncovered him to take a look, they never touched him, nothing. Not a single person took the time to explain anything or offer any kind of condolences. It was the most ingenuine, harsh, impersonal and downright disturbing experience I have ever been a part of. The hospital had doctors on the floor and no other animals were in sight. I am not saying that there weren't any present or that there weren't vets and/or vet techs tending to other patients - but I am saying that there was absolutely no reason whatsoever that my dog and I received little to no attention or interest. The entire thing from the moment we walked in to the minute we left was no more than 10 or so minutes. It was disgusting. Furthermore, in ALL of the times I have had to take my past dogs in for their end of life moments to various other emergency vets, I have always received, at the very least, an email or automated text offering condolences on the passing of my animals. All were always followed by a card or note of some sort. I chose the communal cremation, as I always have, and am extremely disappointed in the lack of follow up after trusting VEG with my boy at the end of his life - which was not much to expect given the horrible and disturbing experience I had when choosing VEG for my dogs end of life cremation and carry. This is not the place to go if you want someone to care. It was nothing more than a monetary gain for them and it was truly disheartening and extremely upsetting in every way. I will never recommend VEG to anyone - not for primary care nor end of life services and I can certainly guarantee that I will be in touch about my experience with the right people and organizations in an effort to prevent anyone else from having to say goodbye to their beloved pets the way I had to at VEG. I am unwell over the entire experience and I will be very vocal about it to the right people. I discourage anyone from choosing VEG.

The team was so patient and kind--consulting with each other, keeping me with my dog the whole time, and making sure she was comfortable throughout. Thankfully it ended up being full anal glands and some irritation. They took care of it and gave me guidance on meds (which I already had on hand). Checkout was the biggest surprise: only $205, which feels incredibly reasonable for Northern Virginia. The clinic was clean, organized, and calm, and it was obvious the pets there were genuinely cared for (even the ones in cones having a rough day). For a stressful night, this place made it a really good experience.

I had my cat of almost 15 years euthanized based on the veterinarian opinion. Before hand they give you all the time you need alone with your pet. Needless to say I was in a room crying. After crying in the room. As I walked out of the room. A female doctor was imitating a fake ugly cry while the 2 other female doctors were laughing. I was literally just in the room crying. When the procedure is done they stop talking to you. I stood there for 15 minutes. They literally forgot to get rhe paw prints and fur. I had to remind them The lady at the front desk was very nice. They better not ever fire her cause her friendly demeanor is helping their business. The female doctors are catty like teen from mean girls. 2. They judged me based on my appearance. I felt bad about myself. Like I made them uncomfortable. I believe it was my hairstyle that was a distraction because the doctor couldnt hold eye contact without looking at my hair. 3. I felt judged because of my financial situation. I obviously dont expect and didnt ask anyone to work for free. I went there out of desperation for suggestions and to buy pain medicine and ointment to clean my cat eyes. 4. I did not like the way they made my cat scream. If she had done that before I wouldnt think anything of it. However she has NEVER screamed like that which is why I believe it was intentional. I regret taking her there in her last moments. I still remember that scream. I just pray she was fully transitioned and that I made the right decision for her. Please dont wait to get insurance. Get a 2nd opinion because ive met other pet owners who vets worked with them far as payment or showing them how to do certain things at home to care for their pet and cut cost. Yes, we love our dog. Now, let's get a few things straight. First, we have had great care at Waldorf Emergency Care over the last 7-8 years. This has included multiple visits with our dog and our cats during that time. Dr. Fox has a lifetime of experience caring for all types of animals and is still committed to his clinic and patients. I have had the same experience with the other vets on duty, and also with the vet techs. Second, yes, there is actually a cost to pet care. Imagine that. Notice that each of the poor ratings were people complaining about the cost. It is an EMERGENCY CLINIC! Ever seen the cost of an ER visit at your local hospital? Jesus. If you can't afford the cost of care, either get pet insurance or a CareCredit card, or do NOT get a pet at all. Third, having observed many, many people in that waiting room over these years, I am astounded at the incredible impatience and outright sense of entitlement of so many pet owners. The pets are evaluated based on their conditions and rank ordered for care...no difference than in a hospital ER. Bottomline is that the poor reviews are not at all my experience. Read through them and see if $$$ is actually the core reason. That's what I got out of them.
