Our previous vet has had serious staffing issues, so we went to EMMAvet for urgent care for our 19-year-old senior kitty. We made an appointment, and before we arrived (same day) they had retrieved her records from our previous vet. The urgent care vet had read through the last few years of her history, we barely had to explain anything. EMMAvet has lots of testing facilities on site so we didn't have to wait too long for results. They gave us multiple treatment options, but they were honest about our cat's condition. Soon after, we determined it was time to euthanize our kitty. They have a special room for this, with comfortable chairs, Kleenex, and options for pet cremation containers if you want to get their ashes back. I really appreciated that they went through all the options and fees at the beginning. We paid before we had to go through the emotional euthanasia process, so we had alone time with our kitty in the last moments, and when she was gone, we could just leave. We experienced so much kindness and compassion from all the staff. It's also very clean and attractive. I only wish we'd found them sooner. read more

Unlike every other veterinary clinic I have ever used in 24 years of owning dogs, EMMAvet does the examination of the dog and administers the shots while the owner is made to wait in the lobby. There was no consistency in which vet we saw, & if your pet needs anything other than a routine check-up, you are made to see an emergency vet, even during normal business hours. After we had been to the office numerous times for our 8 month old puppy's diarrhea and vomiting, she was less than excited to be there and unwilling to go into the back with the staff (& without the security of her family) one more time. The vet had no patience for the puppy and sent her home after giving her medication to completely dull her reactions (which immediately added to her digestion issues) and put in her record that she could not come back for any further visits to the office (routine or emergency) unless she had been drugged with that medication. I found another vet and the puppy they deemed as unwelcome quickly learned to love going to the vet and is thriving. read more

Another update on this business. Yesterday after i started my dogs dewormer for the hook worms that the vet completely dismissived and wanted to send me to the ER instead. I also noticed that vet didn't provide me with a full treatment for my dog! The instructions state to give him 1 packet for 3 days and THEN 1 pack for 3 days in 3 weeks! Yet i was only provided with 3 packs and paid 60+ dollars! Wrote an email to the office and of course no response! Then Rachel the rude receptionist that hung up in my face told me she didn't know and she would have to wait until MONDAY when the vet returned smh i also asked for an email address for the office manager and she told me it was the SAME as the front desk! Hard to believe... TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! do not recommend! Don't take your animals here clearly they will be neglected from the care they need! The receptionist consulted the veterinarian and we were told this was an urgent matter that needed to be addressed directly. We arrived shortly after and were told in person this was not an urgent matter after all and to consult a behaviorist. Dr. Jarvinen and her entire staff are fantastic. We were unfortunately frequent visitors with our Golden Retriever Lotta. Skin issues and finally cancer. They cared for her as much as we did. We found a fantastic oncologist through them which enabled a few more positives weeks. When the final decision had to come, they were so kind and caring. We got to spend some private time with her prior. They even fixed her a tray of things to enjoy, that dogs normally cannot have. I wish there was a better way to let them know how much we appreciated the care they gave to our cherished Lotta. read more

Won't be going back to this office. Twice they told me I was good to go after handing me some meds for my dog. The first time I was 15 minutes down the road and they called me and said there was an additional prescription they forgot to give me. Fine, I thought mistakes happen and I went back to get it. The next time I went to this vet, I went home with two prescriptions. The next day my husband said something is off as the meds don't match what I was told. Sure enough, I called and after 15 minutes on hold, was told that there was an additional prescription at the front desk. It had been sitting there for over 24 hours. No call. No explanation. Just a very defensive vet. This office staff is incompetent. I now have to go back in Friday rush hour and pick up another prescription. Won't be going back to this poorly run vet. read more

My son called this office on Labor Day for an issue with a neuter procedure we had somewhere else the previous Monday. Instead of having us wait in the office for two hours, they called when they were ready for us! The owner of the practice met me in the quiet clean office and helped me get my skittish German Shepherd out the car! He likes to sit on the seats in the office (silly dog) so she got him a slip guard mat. She diagnosed him promptly and offered to hold a space for him for surgery if we couldn't get him in to the original place on Tuesday. What a WONDERFUL experience for an otherwise scary event. If I could give EMMAvet 10 stars I would. This past week has been a nightmare for my poor fur baby. Shadow was in agonizing pain and they informed me that he dislocated his hip. He was in so much pain that he was even crying through sedation. They immediately prioritized him and took him back despite being heavily backed up. They performed an emergency closed reduction and prescribed him the right medication to supress him pain. They've followed up on multiple occasions to see how he was doing following the procedure. He hasn't been in pain since. It's so hard to find veterinarians and a staff who truly care and not just doing it for a paycheck. We've been taking Shadow to EMMAvet since he was a puppy and he's 9 now. They also provide primary care and physical therapy. I would HIGHLY recommend EMMAvet for anyone looking for a reliable vet/urgent care. read more

A few days ago ( Friday night) my cat Samson began limping and putting weight off his paw, which is hard because he is a big boy at 17lbs. ( he is a large breed) I called several clinics to make an appointment Friday night to Saturday morning)as soon as possible since I hated seeing Samson in pain. I called EMMAvet as soon as it opened at 11am, the vet tech said I could take Samson in right away since this vet is an urgent care for animals. Dr. Donovan was very thorough, informative and thoughtful when assessing Samson. She explained her concerns, and our treatment options. Turns out Samson had an abscess on his little foot and it needed to be drained and cared for. I was given antibiotics to give him for the next 10 days. The price was a bit steep, but it was worth it. After all, it is an urgent care location, it is expected to pay premium prices for the appointment. Dr.Donovan also checked up on Samson and wrote a full report with her findings for us to give to our vet. While the price hurt my pocket, I am great full that EMMAvet was there to help Samson. read more

After picking up my cat, they did not follow up, this was the most disappointing service I have ever received. When you have a sick pet and can't get into your regular vet, it is stressful. But EMMAvet made the best of the scenario. My dog started coughing on a Wednesday and was still doing it Thursday after I got home from work. My regular vet was closed and this was on my list for ER vet options. I called around 6:30pm and explained what was going on, and was told to register online and then call back. I'm not sure why this was a requirement, but it was. I registered but went back and forth mentally about was my dog really sick or was I overreacting? I decided I was not and I did try to call 2 other places. One told me to call poison control first (I was like what?? This is probably kennel cough and you want me to do that?) and the second place was too busy. So I called EMMAvet back and they said there was a euthanasia coming in but they could get me in after. They said to call back at 8:30pm. I did, and they said they would call me when I could come. At first I was annoyed, but I was comfortably sitting at home and only had about a 10 minute drive to get to the vet so really, it was fine. They called about 9:15, I drove over there and let them know I had arrived. Because of Covid they are not allowing people inside. I waited about 10 minutes more before the vet called me and we spoke about what was going on. We then met outside the practice and the vet inspected my dog. She confirmed it was kennel cough and she prescribed a cough medicine. If my dog got worse I should come back. I was home by 10:30pm. Everyone was very nice and the price was reasonable. I understand that a true emergency should take precedence over this cough, and I was glad to be able to get in. I would use this practice again in the future. read more

They're ALL about the MONEY $$$. (Read other reviews) It's really crap when vets just care about $$ before animal health. We just moved here and my German shepherd got 2 TICKS! She was on natural repellents as where we came from didn't have tick issues. Anyway stopped at a great vets office that could see me today and they prescribed NEXGARD as it's not as TOXIC as simpirica or bravecto. They did not have any nexgard themselves and I tried chewy and Petsmart and they all wanted the prescription MAILED in...I wasn't spending a week with possible ticks and her getting LYME disease. I called EMMAvet as they were open and they confirmed they had nexgard! GREAT! NOPE! They said they would NOT sell me the tick treatment even though I have a prescription because I need to pay to see and get THEIR VET to prescribe it?! WTH? #1. A prescription is a prescription do you REALLY want my dog to go without meds because you want that $95 visit fee? Or whatever their fees are....(probably more) 2. I feel it's an ethical issue when you let an animal suffer or have more chance of getting a disease when you have the meds and refuse to sell them unless I pay a new patient fee?! Terrible experience and the owners don't care. The vet told me I had to euthanize my dog (Neo) when I took him there with a heat stroke. They said his throat area was too stressed and swallen so he wasn't getting enough oxygen. They told me he won't make it home. One of the vets showed me a photo of her dog on her phone and said that if it was her dog she would euthanize him. I didn't believe them. Two years later, Neo is not only alive, but with swift surgery to remove a benign tumor on his throat a month or two later at another vet clinic, he has found a second breath. EMMAvet will fight you for their revenue. First, they were charging me for his anesthesia a full dose price of euthanasia for every micro dose. When I brought this to their attached, they cut like a grand from the bill, saying it was a mistake. Later, when I told them that they had misdiagnosed my dog and should have recommended the surgery to save his life rather than euthanasia, they lawyered up. The lawyer didn't think I had enough evidence of malpractice on their side. Go figure. But avoid this place if you want genuine care (employees might be ok). read more

I'm sure like many we've all been burnt by not so honest vets who have given/recommended unnecessary treatments for our furry loved ones or have simply been taken advantage of our ignorance and our love for our 4legged kids. Which I was totally expecting today. With it being urgent care, not being able to get an appointment soon enough with a reg vet, I had about $500 ready to throw away today. Went in for impacted anal gland and vaccines. The dr called to not only let me know it was not impacted anymore but to recommend home remedies for her Itchy paws. She could have totally taken advantage and charged me up a bucket load but was so honest I couldn't believe it. Noticed my dog was itching and advised me they had treatment. When hesitant and told her I'll try to give her an oatmeal bath before resorting to medicine she continued to tell me epson salt was far more effective. Most vets I have encountered would have just stopped the convo as soon as I refused medications. This place truly doesn't care about $ more about the well being of your our pets. Everything was done within about 15-20mins max. I was charged about $175 ish for everything. I'm assuming $100 for the urgent care cost and the rest for shots. I got charged 400 dollars for taking in my small dog, they charged me 70$ dollars for a small powder, 70$ dollars for 4 small tablets 30$ dollars for a small bandage that us probably worth 2 dollars. 75$ dollars to clip and clean a very small area in the dogs body smaller than 4 inches and took 3 minutes to do it. Three and a half hour wait time.....When we made an appointment.... We came here because our recently adopted pup was seen here when she was rescued, and we made an appointment for updates on her mange and worms. However, when we got here, we were told that there were 5 other pets ahead. While We understand walk-ins are inevitable, it was evident that they didn't come strutting in together in one line, so if you have five pets in line, maybe calling to give a heads up would be better than telling us to wait outside for this long. Especially when there are two receptionists there, it doesn't take long to give us a call. EMMAvet is a truly great vet. I see Dr. Wooten for my cat, and she is the best. My cat has had terrible skin issues for years and Dr. Wooten finally helped me figure out what it was - she tested my kitty for allergies. We've been working closely to find the right treatment since. Ive never had to wait more than a week or two for an appt. And the emergency vet is great too which I've also had to use. They always send detailed vet notes and a detailed invoice to your email. And if you have questions, you can email back and they will actually respond. This place is truly God sent! The entire staff, from the front desk to the doctors everyone is absolutely absolutely amazing. The first time our Rottweiler came into the hospital for treatment the doctor was very honest with us about everything. She didn't try to get us to pay anything extra we didn't need. Her honest approach was so appreciated. Unfortunately our beloved dog didn't make it. Our Rottweiler passed away and we were devastated, our hearts were shattered. Thank goodness we decided to come back here to handle and help us with everything. They took the time to explain all the steps, and allowed you as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. We never once felt rushed our hurried out even though they were extremely busy that morning. I wish I could rate this place 10 star or even more. I will never forgot how they made us all feel. First the good stuff. Everyone was very nice to us and our ailing pet. Now the bad. We were visiting from out of town. Our dog vomited on a Friday night, and we were concerned about possible aspiration pneumonia due to her lethargy, foamy pink nasal discharge and overall odd behavior the following morning. We were hoping we could get her started on antibiotics and be on our way. However, we were informed by the very nice vet that they could not prescribe antibiotics for our 12.5 year old bulldog without an X-ray, which would cost $900. Since when is it necessary to X-ray in order to prescribe antibiotics? This isn't a case where we're worried about over-prescribing antibiotics lest the dog develop resistance. She's an old bulldog. Also if the lungs had been clear, what then? Hundreds of dollars for blood work, which I would have considered except we had to get on our way back home. They did treat for vomiting with Serenia. The exam took place out of our view, so we were denied the opportunity to provide feedback during the exam (kind of like a pediatrician examining an infant without Mom and Dad there--what's the point?). The total was was nearly $300. When we returned home, we took her to our family vet. He offered--but did not demand--an abdominal ultrasound because upon listening he thought he could detect a possible anomaly (possible mass). We accepted the ultrasound, which was negative. He offered--but did not insist--on bloodwork to assess liver function, saying that having ruled out an abdominal mass that may have led to the vomiting, he also offered bloodwork to rule out possible liver disease and confirm infection, saying the other possibility was a brain tumor, which is common in the breed. AND...most important....he offered antibiotics WITHOUT requiring bloodwork to confirm infection. Her bloodwork was normal except a high white count--consistent with infection. But we didn't know that until the next morning, at which point she was already being treated with antibiotics (without absolute confirmation that the infection was bacterial rather than viral). We spent about the same amount of money, but we left with real answers AND antibiotics. No chest X-ray needed. I do not understand a private vet requiring costly chest X-ray on an older bulldog with a possible infection. We don't have pet insurance. Trying to up-charge pet owners who are emotionally vulnerable is ethically questionable. I expected better from this practice and was disappointed. Might as well go to VCA. read more
