I've never used their grooming or special services, but as far as just buying toys, treats, and other items this entire company is pathetic. Any coupon or deal you hear of has tons of exclusions or small print so that you can rarely use it. The store supervisor doesn't even understand the exclusions and when you complain they really do not care, just responding with, "I don't make the rules." I fought them for a coupon for treats, and I spoke to 4 people, two of whom were supervisors and not a single one could tell me what PetSmart defined a "treat" as and therefore why the coupon was not valid. Not only that, but not a single one cared. I called customer service and when I asked to send a complaint to the store they actually asked me why because they were going to send me coupons and that should solve the issue. THAT DOESN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE. You solve the issue by telling the store they suck, educating them, and making sure it doesn't happen again. But PetSmart would rather send you more coupons to make you go away than actually trying to be a decent store. They rarely have the items I am looking for, are extremely overpriced, and rude to boot. I would rather go anywhere else. One last item - they have recently started carrying "Pets R Us" the new pet "Toys R Us" line, and the toys are a joke. I'm writing an honest review on this place . I have been on this grooming salon several times and every time I went I'm disappointed with the staff. They are lazy , I have a bichon and my last visit was the final . I will never go back there. They always wanted to shave the dog because they refuse to do work meaning brushing the hair . They always says she has matting and I know that she is not matted . Just laziness and let me remind you that we take our pets there for grooming . That means doing brushing and bath. If you're dog does not require a lot of brushing then this place maybe ok but otherwise , I will not recommend it. read more

The grooming department is absolutely the worst! We have had multiple issues with them canceling apts 15 minutes before we were supposed to show up. The shaves are subpar and my dogs end up with random bald spots. Today was the final straw when I drag my kids and dogs into the grooming department for an early morning apt. and I am told that they cannot take them because they had a Benadryl to prevent them from throwing up on the car ride. They have had one children's Benadryl every single time they have gone in to be groomed and it has never been an issue. I have always been honest and up front about giving them Benadryl under the doctors orders, today they refused to take them because of the Benadryl. The manager was rude and said they should not have taken them in the past but the fact is they have every single time. I will never go here again!!! They change policy's and cancel apts on a regular basis and the grooming is random bald spots. read more

I have 2 little yorkies, I brought them here to get groomed and I have had the worst experience yet. They brought me a half shaved dog and I still had to pay for it. They kept calling my dog a him, when its a she. They were rude and said I have an unmannered dog, when shes only a puppy. This was over 2 years ago. I just recently called to schedule an appointment and they refused to see my dog. Purchased a hamster a few months ago from this place. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and even helped me pick out all the equipment and supplies that were needed. My hamster is still healthy and surprisingly very loving. In the past I have always loved this Petsmart. It had a great variety of products and staff were always friendly. Well Saturday February 10th, was a bad day. Now I understand that all stores have there one bad days but this seemed to be a pattern that will probably not change. As most Petsmart goers know, they now have Banfield Pet Hospitals in them. Some hospitals are on the side and have a private entrance. This one unfortunately is in the very back of the store. I walked in with my SO and our two large dogs to look for jackets/sweaters as we were going to the snow that day. Someones dog immediately started rallying at mine, barking its head off and pulling the owners arms off as she tried to control it. We moved into the treat aisle to avoid the dog. My two are not very reactive but I didn't want to risk it if they decided to be. We didn't find a very large selection in dog jackets and sweaters, but that was a fault of our own as it is the very end of the cold season. Through walking in the hospital, we were disgusted at the amount of urine, vomit, and feces were in the aisles. We understood they were busy and it was hard to keep up on, but I feel that the Banfield hospital played a part in it. It doesn't sit well with me that a pet store, where you are allowed to bring pets in to choose items and socialize in a respectful and clean manner, should be subject to the possibility of a dog coming in with kennel cough, canine influenza, ringworm, or just any illness other dogs may carry. The fact that the Banfield has no barriers between the store and the hospital just does not work. An owner needs to drag there sick animal through the entire store, risking exposure to healthy animals to get to the hospital in the back. It is unsettling how it is very unsanitary for both the pets and an owner/citizen. So I suppose i'm not upset with the store itself, but more the condition the store was in because of the animal hospital, and that un-socialized animals that owners were bringing in to be seen clashing with those who are just wanting to shop. I gave this place 2 stars because the cashier was wonderful and offered our pups treats which they enjoyed before we headed out on our trip. I probably won't be coming back to this particular location. read more

We're new to the area, and have taken our little dog (a 7 pound Maltese/Mini Dachshund mix) to PetSmart to be groomed three times since arriving here in September, and a couple of times to other places. I have been unhappy with the finished product from PetSmart each time. On the third and final try, I gave very detailed instructions as to what I wanted, explaining that we had not received what we had asked for on the previous visits. They had her for three hours before I called to check, thinking that had been a long time. I was told she was finished. No one called me! I picked her up, and she was just as fluffy/bushy and overgrown as when I had dropped her off. She had been bathed, although the long hair on her ears looked unwashed. Her nails had been trimmed, and the hair on her torso looked a little shorter. Her face, head, legs and feet appeared untouched. I explained that I had asked for her hair, all over, to be cut quite a bit shorter, with the only exceptions being her ears and tail. They apologized and offered to take her from me and "fix it". I politely declined and explained that I had really wanted for them to be our new groomers, or I would never have tried three times, and I was done. I cannot recommend this grooming salon. She teaches you the basics on puppy handling, always is open to questions and has many suggestions if your puppy "isn't getting it." The class size was small so each puppy and owner had plenty of time to practice and learn. Everyone at the store is helpful and so nice. This is our first family dog and it was our first time bringing our 15 week puppy for its grooming . I asked for a puppy cut in the face and leave the middle section of our puppy long . The lady who groomed her was rude , I didn't feel she was compassionate at all . She said the dogs coat had to many mates , she shouldn't even be bathed like this , she said that our dog can't breathe with its skin like that . Our puppy's coat is a beautiful soft yorkie coat and we this lady said she would only shave the dogs fur off . We return and the dogs face is not what I asked for and her fur is completely gone and cut to the skin . Our little 3 pound yorkie is so cold and it's winter . We also ran into her trainer in the store and he was shocked as well that they shaved her . Please NEVER come to petsmart for grooming , I've read so many reviews of places just shaving off rather then taking the time to brush your dog . People need to be compassionate and not force you into the corner with no options . We had a awful experience and will never go again read more

We just got done with the dog training and the trainers are great, they gave us really good advice and ideas regarding behavioral and training issues we were having. Ok. Usually I LOVE going to Petsmart. When I was back home in oklahoma and I had my golden retriever, they would take wonderful care of him and groom him perfectly. I always left happy. I moved here to vacaville (unfortunately without buster) and I got a new dog. A beautiful husky/German Sheppard mix, and he's epileptic. No biggy I give him medicine and he's a happy healthy dog. When I called vacaville to see what they can do for me so he's not so hot, the girl answering the phone just kept telling me to bring him in so they can see. I get that. And then I said "well I just want to make sure this is ok, but my dog is epileptic. He's treated but I just want to make sure you guys are prepared before I bring him in" and she goes and talks to her manager to make sure it's ok and she comes back saying "it's fine to bring him in but he just can't have a seizure here" and I kindly said "well I don't know when he has a seizure neither him or I can really control that" and I heard her manager or whoever she was talking too saying really rude stuff about my dog and telling the girl what to say to me. And the girl said "well if he has a seizure here then we have to send him home" and I asked "ok, on the off chance he has a seizure there and you're only half way through his appointment do I get my money back?" And they said no! What the hell? And the girl started being really snippy with me and i was upset and done arguing and the last thIng she said to me was "so can i make you an appointment?" And then I called petco and there was NO problems with my dog being epileptic. They told me they would take special care of my dog at no extra cost and if he had a seizure there's a vet hospital right there and they would make sure he's fine and healthy. read more

Last night my boyfriend and I came in to purchase the baby Conure. We worked with the manager, I think, and a blue eyed blonde girl I think her name was Marissa. When Marissa was paged to the bird area she was very excited to get to take out the baby conure, who's name is now Mia :) she took her out with no hassle and let us pet her and make sure this was the bird for us. She took me inside the back of the bird cage and showed me how to trim her claws properly and how to clip her wings. This girl is amazing with animals and customer service. The manager was also very informative and had such a positive attitude when I found out my bank wouldn't let me purchase the bird until tomorrow. The manager suggested we get the cage and take it home so we can build it then go and pick up Mia the next morning. Which we did! The next day I came in around 12 and my experience was sadly not nearly as nice as the night before. Not even close. I told the cashier that I was here to get the conure and he paged someone to the birds. The girl that showed up was a brunette and she obviously didn't like birds. She went to get my Mia out and had to take her out by catching her with a net!! Seriously, and she didn't get her in one try. My poor Mia was flying around the cage probably terrified and finally was caught and put into a box and the girl just handed her to me and walked away. No advise for care or anything. I then went to check out and the cashier a young dark skinned man was in shock of how much the bird costs and had to ask another coworker if the price was right. I know how much she costs and his reaction was rude. If your going to be in sales don't be shocked about how much a customer is paying... Anyways I really enjoyed working the marissa and her manager the night before! They were awesome!! read more

I take my dogs here all the time for grooming and always satisfied. I always ask for a girl named Kristy and she always does a wonderful job with their hair cuts. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have a golden retriever and a small beagle, so hair is always around! We love PETSMART in Vacaville. Our "granddogs" are superstars there. We use Banfield Vet Hospital, and love the doctors and the staff. They went through puppy school there too! Which was great training for all of us! And they get groomed there as well. They love their groomer Melissa and we love her. She knows exactly the best way to groom them and knows when and what they will tolerate. The store is always clean and bright and we always find what we are looking for. Of course the staff is always friendly and helpful as well. Our granddogs love going there!!! All we have to say is "Petsmart" and they get so excited and are ready to go. When I was trying to decide on a new dog food ( I had a puppy and older dog who always wanted to share so we had to find a healthy multi stage food) one of their employees spent a great deal of time helping me find a great food that not only was safe for both my puppy and senior dog it's also helped my senior dogs skin condition more than anything I've ever tried! I must say compared to the Fairfield Petco this location is 100x better and is worth the drive they know how to use phones and answer them. I personally did not like the treatment my dog received while waiting to be groomed. I went in to inquire about grooming and book an appointment. I explained my dog was a recent rescue that had a giant tumor removed and did not want her to feel like I was also abandoning her. (She was left on the street and very near death when I got her). I was assured she would be expertly taken care of. I scheduled her for 2:30 that same day. They told me it would take about three hours. I asked why so long and they said she was going to be washed, dried, clipped, ears cleaned, and nails trimmed. I was also paying $15 extra to have her undercoat brushed out. They said that alone took 45 mins. I told them I would stay in the immediate area and to call if my dog had any problems. After an hour, I went back in to check on her. I did not see her so asked how she was. The guy acted like he did not know anything about her even though I originally spoke to him. Then he looked in the back and said she was fine. I asked when she would be done and he stated she had not been started. She would not be started until after this one groomer completed one more dog besides the one she had on the table. I said "That sounds like a long time and where was she till then. He said in the back in a cage. The groomer that was going to do my dog stated that they are paid on commission and three dogs are scheduled per groomer, per hour. She said if she only did one dog an hour she would not make any money. I said that I thought that since I booked an appointment, I thought she would be started around that time, that's how hair appointments work. She stated that dogs are not people and that is not how it works. I asked why I was not told that when I booked the appointment, she said that is just how it is done. So my dog was being kept in a cage in the back for probably another hour in addition to the one she just spent there. THEN they told me I could of booked an express appointment for an additional $11. WHY did'nt they say that when I booked the appointment? I definately would of done that rather than have her in a cage feeling abandoned. I was already going to pay almost $60, another $11 was nothing if it meant my dog would not have to wait for 2 hours in a cage. Since the groomer that was eventually going to do her had such a bad attitude, and nothing had been done to my dog at all, I took her home. I got the impression that the groomer did not seem to care about dogs, it was just a job to her. I complained to the Manager who told me that the dogs in the cages were given water and checked on once an hour by himself or one of the groomers. He stated that all grooming establishments operated that way. I did not know that. That statement and the groomers comments did not impress or assure me that my dog was being cared for as originally discussed. I will try to find a better groomer for my dog, any suggestions? read more

I admit, my dogs have gone here for several years. I've seen the rise and fall of quality and massive turn overs in employment several times. I stuck it out... until today. Towards the beginning of June, I called for an appointment and was told they were booked over a week out. I am on vacation right now so any day at any time for a small dog would have worked. I took the next available appointment a week and a half out. Frustrating, but I was understanding. I received a missed call and message at 5pm last night than my appointment would need to be rescheduled because a groomer (I won't be as unprofessional as to use her name or list her specific medical issue like they did!) was out. I returned the call, but they were closed. When I finally talked to someone they said they were booked that week already. I explained I'd already been waiting quite some time and would take any groomer. I was directed to the manager who helmed and hawed and told me that the earliest time would be July 7!!!!!, but she'd give me a 20% discount. Again with the over share of why my groomer was unavailable, how many dogs people can take, and why only two people were there. Honestly, I am not running the company and I should not be privy to that information! Terribly poor service and judgment. Can you imagine speaking like that to a coustmer at your work place?!.....So, I bought my own clippers and had my dog bathed, dried, and clipped in less than an hour!! Beats the 3+ hour wait time for my poor pups as well as the forty min round trip drive for me. I've rode the rise and fall of this company long enough. I will no longer be offering them my business and recommend others put their foot down when unprofessional behavior and poor coustmer service are prevalent. read more

well i took my dog into pet smart to get groomed in the afternoon because usually i take him to petco and really they always do such a fantastic job !! i love petco so much they really care and do just what i ask for anyway for a chance i tried pet smart also petco was very full the next opening was in about a month so i said why not we really have to groom our dog lets try petsmart ... i took him into pet smart and let me just say if you truly love your dog and care for him please NEVER EVER TAKE THEM TO PET SMART well anyway this lady cut my dogs hair first we went in she told me that he had quite a few knots around his neck and that they couldnt brush it out and that they had to shave it all down really i do NOT like short hair on my dog seriously i can brush all the knots out on my dog in 10 minutes and after i heard they had to shave it down i was so suprised petco brushes out the knots no matter what and petsmart cant??? all i really want to say is that pet smart is really a big ass piece of shit !!! i was so fuc**n dissopointed on how he turned out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had to share my feelings do not ever go to pet smart im sorry if your'er a happy costumer with them but my experience was bad ass shit i love my dog so much and i cant stand having him have a bad haircut i feel with my dog i swear my heart broke ! i really hope this was helpful because this shit is horriable i wouldnt go there in a million years and on top of that the dumb ass woman was so rude ! i cant rate them 1 damn star ! read more

I have been dealing with the Vacaville petsmart for 4 years....I have a great Pyrenees , and I spend 150.00 per month in grooming, at least 200.00 per month in food.....in the last several months their service has gone south....they lost all the good groomers to petco and to private businesses because they started treating their groomers poorly...so I groom elsewhere now...today I went in to by my dogs food,Castor polux...and they have discontinued both the large breed dry and the wet to make a little gravy ....I was told they can't even get it anymore....they are the ones that suggested this food years ago then they drop it with no warning or any suggestion who carries it...I have watched their service and good personnel go down hill for several months....I have several friends who feel the same way....I realize they have been bought out by a large company but they still will have to get by without my business and many people I know are leaving....to bad I will have to give thousands of dollars to another pet supply company that will appreciate my business....cliff santos Vacaville ca read more
