Best pet shop in LA and yes I'm taking about a pet smart store. I frequent a lot of pet shops and usually they don't have anything good. All cheap crap especially mom and pop shops around here. I can find 80% of what I need here and that's saying a lot. They're big on reptile hides which is a super plus and have Arcadia lighting, where else you going to find Arcadia in LA? Nowhere not even other pets smarts in fancier areas. Store is always clean and employees are all super nice. I hate the fact that they sell reptiles which require more attention than a lot of animals, they require supplements and correct lighting that's not that easy to get correct so I can tell a lot of those reptiles are probably going to have a shitty life but what can I do I'm sure it turns the coming a profit so..... Anyways what they're missing is more variety of crested gecko food like Pangea. Either way you look at it though they're still the top tier pet shop literally in LA. read more

Only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is cause I like the location and most of the staff is friendly. But this new groomer this location has named Fernando is completely rude, making comments he's should keep to himself. Instead of offending customers. seems like he doesn't wanna do his job. He makes excuses and reasons why he shouldn't be cutting or touching your dog. I highly recommend when scheduling find another groomer who is available. read more

Getting my 3 dogs has been fine but the problem lies in not only getting an appointment but keeping it. The groomers have all be great for my dogs. They have so many problems with the system; double booking or booking at a time they're closed. Finally got my 3 dogs in but turns out a groomer was injured so had to reschedule and at a higher price through no fault of my own. I decided not to reschedule at all. They may be cheaper than Petco but don't count on keeping the appointment(s) you've made. read more

I came to this location on July 26,2024 around 8:44 PM. I have a bearded dragon, so I stop by to grab some worms and crickets. I opened the worm fridge and didn't see any mealworms 500 count asked the guy working there( who was kind). He brought out 3 different ones so I can pick one out. I realized it was not the greatest batch of worms....Then a female worker strolls by and over heard me asking when they will get their new worms in... with an attitude she tries to tell me, " we won't get any new ones in until we sell these 3 old worms". UM okay mam' I've been coming here for the past 3 years I KNOW YOU GUYS GET NEW ONES IN EVERY WED/THUS. Long story short. She was trying to sell me all the old bits of pieces just to get rid of them.... And denying that they will get some in... which really upset.....I tried to tell her that they do not look fresh and it's all dark brown. Her defense was, they are frozen.. This is the second time my grooming appointment was cancelled after I arrived at the store. Groomer was sick - I get it, people do get ill. I was called as I was leaving the house but the number looked like a spam call and there was no voicemail. After I got home, I got a text saying my appointment was cancelled. The manager said they tried to call which is true. Here's the deal. There is this thing called voicemail. I know it's new, but it works. When the person you call doesn't answer, you leave a message (called a voicemail) and then the person has the information. read more

Justin, the amazing Cat Whisperer, grooming Molly . I highly recommend Justin at PetSmart in Tujunga. My cat had never been groomed before and she had bad mats in her hind area. I was unable to get her to sit still to brush her. I was recommended to PetSmart and specifically JUSTIN. He was not only patient and kind but also extremely thorough. He used several different brushes and combs on her. He bathed, blew dry and combed out Molly and she allowed him to. I can't get her to let me brush her, let alone do what magic Justin did. He spent a long time with Abel and explained everything to us that we could understand. he didn't try to sell us anything and made suggestions to make him more comfortable. If I would give zero stars if possible. This company does NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS. I ordered same day delivery and the driver let some strange, menacing man carry in my merchandise. He was having a freak out and THREW my merchandise against the wall of the building lobby. Then he started screaming at the top of his lungs. It was very scary. The driver then complained to me about her job and she didn't earn enough money from it, etc. The whole experience with PS was very upsetting. I reported it to Pet Smart "senior supervisor" and all he could do was say "that's too bad" and "sorry." Really? What if this guy had assaulted me? This company does not take responsibility or have any standards for customer delivery. Order from Amazon because they take customer safety seriously. **puppy class review** It's a standard Petsmart with a "Pet Training" sectioned off corner where dogs (of all levels) come to train and their brains *~bloom~* After adopting Luna, they strongly encouraged us to take my pup to some sort of class or training. The employees and the trainers are very very passionate about animals (admittedly, more so than I). Luna's trainer, in particular, loves a challenge and will painstakingly go out of her way to teach obedience to a wild dog that has bit someone severely and is scheduled to be put down. She sincerely cares and stresses about these kinds of scenarios. It's not only a class for my dog, but also a class for the owner. She'll emphasize that if the trainer doesn't put in effort and action, then don't expect change. And ughhh.. we have "homework," yes homework. If I don't do homework, I get grilled by the trainer the next week, haha! It's that serious. You will also have to purchase these liver treats that "are like crack" to dogs (according to the trainer). But hey, they work! Marked down 1 star because the time frames for these classes aren't too accurate. Sometimes side talk and stories carry on over to valuable class time, and makes the dogs (actually, more myself) restless. Not a bad place to start if you want to teach your pet a little obedience and social skills! Luna's best friend is a great dane named Scarlet... I think 10 sessions were a little over $100. I was greeted immediately as I walked in and shortly after was approached by the same sales associate who came over with the biggest smile and genuinely asked if she could help me find something in particular. We needed to have our male dog nuetered recently because our new female puppy went into heat. Our regular veterinary group was booked for over 3 weeks and wanted us to perform an expensive blood test before they would even schedule him for surgery. We contacted this PetSmart veterinary group, Taylor answered our call and provided us with all the information we needed. Taylor was professional and polite and quickly able to schedule our dog for surgery that week and the surgery included the lab test to confirm our dog's health status. We were nervous to drop our dog off for surgery. We got to meet Taylor and the doctor in person. Taylor promised to keep us informed about our dog's status to help us feel better. She called us multiple times to let us know when dog's surgery started, when the surgery was completed and even sent us a picture of our dog in recovery. The surgery went without any complications and our dog has now recovered. I would recommend this location for any of your dog's health needs. read more

Weird experience. Not sure if the employees are incredibly bored or if management tells them to approach customers who are looking but sometimes people like to go into stores and look around and ASK workers if they need help. Being approached always feels like one you're being watched and two you feel obligated to talk when all you want to do is look and three you feel rude if you tell the person you actually don't want their help (go away) A good manager tells his employees to make sure they're available but not to approach unless the customer absolutely looks like they need a hand. Aside from that when I walked in there were a few employees hovering around the front door which was in itself kind of awkward. I dunno. I don't live in the area but have been here twice, I won't return. Just overall a weird uncomfortable experience. The groomers are really friendly and sweet to your pup! My dog has a bit of anxiety, but they gave him some extra love before grooming and he relaxed right away. This review is for their grooming department. They are very lucky to have Talar! She has been taking care of my dog, Pogi ever since we adopted him over 3 years ago when she was working at the Petco - Glendale location. She moved to the Petco North Hollywood and now at this Petsmart location. Talar keeps moving further away but because she is great at what she does and my dog absolutely loves her, I will drive one hour to feel safe that my dog is in good hands. Talar truly cares for the pets she's responsible for and treats Pogi like her own. I definitely would recommend Talar to other pet owners looking for grooming services! read more

We buy pet supplies for our cats, dogs, turtles, frogs, fish and guinea pigs from this Petsmart on a regular basis. The store is fully stocked and has a variety of items to suit all of our needs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly both on the floor and at the registers. It's always a great customer experience at Petsmart in Tujunga. I also want to mention that the pet care staff are helpful and care about the animals. I witnessed a young lady in the fish section trying to explain to a customer why the tiny tank he was buying wouldn't be suitable for the amount of fish he was selecting. Helpful staff, well stocked selves and friendly cashier. I've always been a fan of Petsmart for everyday pet items. If you are looking for something, chances are this store has it. Overall this particular store is in a great location. I would give them a higher rating, however I am not because I have a pet bearded dragon. He eats alot of worms and crickets as well as veggies. Petsmart and Petco have always been on the steeper price for selling crickets and worms...compared to mom and pop type of pet stores. And it sucks their crickets aren't a very large size either. This establishment needs to be inspected or shut down for animal cruelty. They obviously do not care about the well being of the animals being sold there. The poor hamsters can barely fit onto the hamster wheel because it's so small and RUSTY. The hamster's body hits the tips of the metal rods that connects the wheel on both sides while it attempts to get exercise from the only thing it can. Maybe consider upgrading to the plastic saucer wheels or at least the non wired ones? These creatures don't deserve to live like this while they're waiting to find their forever home. read more

The parking stalls are wide, and the lot is never full. Their carts are always clean and in good working order. The staff is always very helpful and nice. I love that the aisles (except for the main one in the middle) are wide and well organized. They always have atleast several bins of clearance toys, which is great. Sometimes, certain things will be out of stock for long periods of time, which is frustrating especially when it's not even discontinued, they just don't know what is going on with it, but still, as a one stop shop and a fun excursion for the babies we love this place. read more

The guy in the grooming dept is full of himself to the point of being cringeworthy. This guy spoke to my wife unlike any professional we have come across. No family doctor, dentist, attorney, authority, attendant, representative, associate, etc, etc, etc has spoken to my wife like this guy has. This is regarding an adoption dachshund puppy mix on her first grooming experience. According to this fellow our new dog is misbehaved and he will no longer tolerate her unless they are more free. I have never heard of this from an owner of any business so it is my impression this dude a guy full of himself gone rogue from his paycheck job. She not only comes back looking her best, but she comes back in a great mood too, which hasn't always been the case with past groomers we've been too. I took my 4 pound chihuahua in for a nail grinding yesterday, March 23, 2012 at about 6pm to the Petsmart groomer in Tujunga. Bean was fine when I left him with the groomer and went to do some shopping. When I came back he was tucked in his carrier and the groomer said he was a good boy as I handed him a tip. When I brought him home and took him out of his carrier he seemed to be injured! He hunched in pain. He would not jump or stand on his hind legs. He whimpered thru the night. He seems to have gotten better with rest, however he is favoring one of his back legs. He also is acting self-protective and yelps if we try to touch his back to examine him. It is Saturday and his regular vet is closed. If he is not better by Monday, we will take him in for x-rays. I called the store manager, who immediately told me that there was no way I could prove her groomer injured my dog. And since I could not prove it, Petsmart was not going to pay for vet care or anything else. I called because I was upset and concerned, but she turned it into an unpleasant confrontation. She claims that no one has ever called her to complain about their pets being hurt at her store.Perhaps people do not call because they know they cannot prove anything, but I bet they go somewhere else. Which is what I will do from now on. And I won't be shopping there any more either. Update: Bean recovered completely. He was unable to jump for weeks, but eventually he got back to normal. Now he goes to a different groomer to get his nails trimmed, where they treat him with care. read more
