Large pet store. Came here to buy dog treat since I'm meeting with a friend who has a dog. I don't have any pets. This feels like a large pet store with many varieties of products for various pets. Interior feels a bit outdated, not modern, and felt like interior was dim. Maybe the shelves are tall, maybe it's darker because of that. I wanted to buy dog treat but it's scattered in different aisles. I saw some at the front of the store, in the middle of the aisle, and down the aisles. I like how the aisles tell you which pet the products are for (i.e. dog, cat, etc). But would like similar products together. Petsmart also has a pet hospital inside which is super nice. read more

This grooming salon seems to go out of its way to avoid helping customers. It is excuse after excuse whenever you try to get a walk-in appointment. The employees are extremely rude, quick to pawn work off on another coworker, and constantly make up reasons why they cannot help you. I even called ahead and asked whether I could bring my dog in for service, and they told me yes. When I arrived, the first thing they did was try to deny me service. They claimed my dog's vaccines were not up to date and insisted that, even if he had been vaccinated at a Banfield location inside another PetSmart, the records would automatically appear in their system. I called the other PetSmart myself, and it turned out my dog's vaccines were, in fact, completely up to date. They eventually agreed to take him, but the entire process was an unnecessary struggle from start to finish. The staff came across as lazy, incompetent, and completely uninterested in doing their jobs. read more

The customer service here is awful. It used to be so good, and I'm not sure what happened. Today there was only one employee trying to help around 20 people waiting in line. The wait was incredibly long, and the experience was frustrating. It's disappointing to see such a decline in a place that used to provide great service. update - had a worse experience after boarding our dog here. we called for updates daily but wasn't given much. we paid extra for him to have an upgraded room too. when he came home, he had so many issues like coughing fits and visible neck pain (seemed like they were just yanking him around and being very rough with our small dog when he was walked). he was visibly stressed and diagnosed with a heart condition shortly after, which was never an issue before and led to an expensive echocardiogram with a specialist next. he is getting older now and it breaks my heart to know he wasn't treated well. i'm still in the market for more dog training classes (he's had training since he was a puppy but we just wanted a refresher) but after the experiences above, we may look at a different location or outside of PetSmart completely. we do regularly still get him groomed at a different location closer to family, but this has left a really bad taste. looking quickly at other reviews it looks like others have had a disappointing experience at this pet hotel/location too. *** came here to ask about their pet hotel and their dog training classes which i was having trouble booking online. since their trainer isn't in, they said they will give a call back. no problem... so we redeemed my rewards for dog treats to make the trip worthwhile. the dog treats were a dollar thirty each, and my rewards were $2.50 so the total for both costs about thirty cents with tax. the cashier Clara rang up the wrong items, and scanned my rewards twice but didn't make sure it went through, charging us about 8 bucks! she charged $2 and $4 for the two treats that were a dollar each. thankfully we noticed before leaving so we asked for it to be corrected. instead of a refund she gave us merchandise credit. obviously we are going to be spending hundreds of dollars for the pet training and hotel here, so it's not the money but the carelessness that's annoying. hoping they take better care of our fur baby here. read more

She goes above and beyond what is required of her and is always willing to assist her customers with whatever they need. I made a reservation for my cat to stay while I go on a weeklong trip. I even came to drop off copies of her vaccination and rabies certificate. The day I am to leave for the airport I brought her in the afternoon. Luckily my flight is in the evening. Staff brought her back to me and rejected her bcuz my cat hissed and tried to scratch or bite her, she said. I told staff that this is her first time to be boarded there. She's been boarded before and the staff there enjoyed her and loved playing with her. I said she's very nervous bcuz it's a new place and she could see the dogs in their playroom. Luckily, I remember the owner of the pet grooming store also watches pets at his home. He calmly spoke to her and let her inside one of the cat apartment. My cat walked right in. It seems the staff at PetSmart really doesn't know how to handle pets, especially how to calm them down. They referred me to some vets offices that supposedly provide pet boarding. The Pet Hotel is the finest place of its type in the South Bay. Bar none. My two puppy girls have gone there for 8 years. Every Friday for Doggy Day Camp as well as boarding over long weekends and extended trips. If any issues arise they call me. They email pictures of our girls when we are overseas. They really care about them. A very professional, respectful and attentive team led by Shannon. Finally, when we tell our girls it's time to go to Doggy Day Camp they get very excited and happy. My dog was the Petsmart Hotel from 5.26.26 until 5.31.26 at the Torrance , CA location on Sepulveda. I received a call from Steve and employee of petsmart hotel that my dog was limping that morning on 5.31.26 when he came in that day. He said he took him to Banfield hospital and that he had an abscess and the vet wrapped his paw.  When I went to pick him up on 6.1.26 the next day the manager Shannon explained to me that it must of happened to him at home and got worse while he was at petsmart. I told her he came to petsmart without this problem and she was there when I brought him in to be boarded. He was happy and jumping all around and to look at the camera when I brought him in. From that point on..Shannon became rude and snotty just like this lady named Nicole left in her review 2 years ago. Well continuing on with my situation with her...she had her staff bring my dog out to me. When he came out I was appalled. The wrap was hanging half undone on his foot. Now they get to work I heard at 5am. I picked him up at 12pm. I asked her what happened. She rudely said we got in and your dog had took half of it off. She was barely looking at me and rudely said you can take it over to Banfield and get it rewrapped. I went over to Banfield and the Banfield receptionist named Jake saw his unraveled wrap on his foot and said I would have to pay for the office visit and for it to be rewrapped. I told him that on check out from petsmart hotel they made me pay for this already when it happened and that I'm not paying again. He said for me to ask them to pay for it then. I said for him to call them and get them on the phone because i didn't want to deal with the rude manager Shannon. So he said he would go over there to ask her. So I waited at Banfield for him to return. He came back and said she was not going to pay. So I went over to petsmart hotel and asked her why isn't she going to pay for the rewrap. She then lied to me and said that Jake said my dog unwrapped it at Banfield. I told her you saw that it was unraveled when you brought my dog out from her hotel and told me to take him to Banfield to be rewrapped. I asked her why is she lying. So she became very mad and walked swiftly by me to the Banfield hospital and I followed. She stormed by the Banfield customers in the lobby and busted through the Banfield back room where the dogs and Banfield staff were as if she owned the Banfield. This is in the back room where dogs are in surgery, etc. I stood in the Banfield lobby waiting to see what was happening. She came out mad and stood in front of me yelling saying she will pay for the rewrap. She stormed back to her office at Petsmart hotel. I was in total shock of this managers behavior toward me.  My dog vomited at home that day and the next day. So that next morning on 6.2.26, I noticed he vomited up a large portion of the blue wrap he had chewed off while in petsmart hotel. I rushed him back to Banfield hospital when they opened. It ended up costing me an additional $1,001.74 for everything that the vet did that day...X-rays, office visit ,Meds etc plus around $300.00 i had already paid to petsmart hotel for this problem he had while in their care. I contacted Petsmart Hotel Corporate regarding Shannon. The below review was from a lady named Nicole 2 years ago.. The manager, Shannon, was the main reason for the unpleasant experience. I would rather drive an hour out of my way to take my pet to a different location than ever leave him in the care of a hotel under the management of Shannon. She was rude in every interaction. She had no patience in conversations. I observed her speaking to other customers, her employees, as well as people over the phone and I was astonished at the fact she is a "manager" leading this hotel. My pet has severe anxiety when initially dropped off and takes about a day to get accustomed. This was explained, and he has stayed MULTIPLE times prior, at this location and another location. The hotel called me with a concern, I ended up speaking to her, she was very abrasive in her communication to me. I never received ANY follow up calls or updates on the issue they called me for nor did Shannon, the manager, even acknowledge my presence with a hello, when I came to pick up my pet. She was standing right in front of us the entire time at the counter and ignored us at all costs. When you are a pet parent, the last thing you want is to be apprehensive about the love and care they are receiving while you are away. I can say that it was not the other staff at this hotel I was concerned about, it was 100% centered in the experience I had with her and also witnessed her having with others that prompted this review. We needed a last minute day care for our 7 year old labradoodle while we were in town on a road trip. He goes to a regular day care at home, but after 4 days in a row at new day cares, he was a bit anxious and tired. The staff was amazing, accommodating to his anxiety and taking him out for lots of breaks and giving him lots of love to help him be comfortable while he was in their care. We had a very disappointing experience at the PetSmart Hotel AGAIN after trying to give it another shot. We made a reservation for July 4th, with plans to pick up our beagles on July 5th. One of our dogs gets extremely carsick, so we rely on local boarding--and PetSmart is only about a mile from home, making it a convenient and low-stress option for our pup. Unfortunately, the on-site manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. She refused to accept our up-to-date vaccination records, claiming the expiration dates "weren't listed," even though the official stickers from our vet clearly state the expiration dates. She kept repeating that we shouldn't "go by the sticker," which makes no sense considering every other daycare, dog training facility, and even the Wag Hotel in Carson had accepted the same paperwork without issue. Because of this manager's poor attitude and lack of knowledge, our holiday travel plans were completely ruined. She showed zero compassion for our situation and didn't even try to find a solution. We won't be returning, even to give it another chance. I'd suggest PetSmart review how they train their staff on reviewing vaccination records and really work on their customer service. Oh PetSmart, please can you have better service?? PetSmart usually has stock on most foods and items, which is great. You will search online and it will say "put in an order and most orders are available for pick up within 2 hours", but this 2 hours thing has never worked for me. Don't fall for it. It sounds attractive since the line is usually long and depressing, not sure why they don't have more cashiers. But the online order seems to go into oblivion, with no communication about what's happening, until you finally find it somewhere else or buy it in person, then you have to cancel the online order. Also, I realized that when you walk in, the various pet food companies have representatives that you think are PetSmart employees because they're saying, "Can I help you find something?", but they're like the sharks at a car dealership parking lot. They will direct you toward the brand of food that they're representing. So pay close attention to who you're asking questions if you want a neutral response vs. a biased response. But, like I said, they do have lots of variety and things in stock, which means you have a good chance of finding what you're looking for. I just wish they could be top notch with their customer service at the cash register. A line of 8-10 people is no fun. read more

Not sure why it this place doesn't get a higher rating, we really like it. We just got a little puppy and this is the go to place for us. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The store is well stocked, clean, and spacious. In addition to the retail space, they also have grooming, training, pet hotel, and pet hospital! Tip: the grooming folks recommended us to get the Puppy Guide, it was $20 (in a locked storage that you need to ask them to get for you), and it has all kinds of coupons and free services. We started saving with things we needed right away. Parking: never a problem, easy access on both Hawthorn and Sepulveda. The Petsmart on PCH is pretty good, also, but much smaller and depending on where you live, it's a little harder to get in and out. read more

I took my two dogs to the PetSmart in Torrance for grooming a month ago and will never go back. Both dogs came out with the worst grooming job I have ever encountered. I brought with me a written list of what I wanted done/not done and went over it with the person at the desk but those requests were either ignored or followed haphazardly and both dogs came out with hair of uneven lengths everywhere on their bodies and in some places there was no hair at all. I would not recommend anyone use their grooming facilities. read more

This is a review for the pet training classes run by Brittany instore. My daughter and I have been taking our crazy Maltese puppy Mayhem to the intro class and Brittany has been wonderful helping us, trying to calm Mayhem down and pay attention and finally learn something! Brittany is very calm, professional and helpful around both dogs and owners and she makes the classes really enjoyable. There is always laughter. Brittany is also a fount of knowledge when it comes to anything to do with our canine friends, and she has some great ideas which work with a barking, mouthing, on leash terror like ours. We are so glad we found Brittany and will continue to attend classes as this store, and definitely 100% recommend them if your fur baby needs to learn some good manners. Just sending praise for Brittany Beebe the dog trainer. While this store is maybe a 4, Brittany is a 5. I've taken basic to advanced classes, Brain Games, some private lessons with her (despite their booking system being weird and confusing, even to other employees who have messed up the booking...), and am looking forward to the therapy class. We've learned so much with Brittany, and she even allowed me to bring a friend who had been helping with my training to help manage her in class (my pup is over 90 pounds). She's super helpful out of class too. Several times now while doing our pup homework outside, people have mistaken ME for a dog trainer, but I send them to Petsmart and Brittany. I'm still learning a lot, but I wanted to make sure Brittany is getting her dues and that people know there's a good, affordable, local trainer they can use. read more

We haven't been here before so we wouldn't know where their freezers are, but they were pretty easy to locate. Sadly, they didn't have any. But I did take some time to look around anyway just in case we find anything else we might wanna get for our fur baby. I had an offer here to bring my dog for day care, so I took the offer thinking they really cared for our dogs the way they claim to do. The store was clean but when a dog potties on the floor, they don't clean it right away even if they have time to do it. The day care has urine everywhere too, and my dog came home with worms in her feces, so that ran me a lengthy tab at the vet's, on top if paying for day care. They gave no reimbursement or even an apology. They just said "it is what it is", even after they scrutinized my dog's health record to make sure she was up to date on vaccinations so she wouldn't get other dogs sick. I want to know why they spent time doing that to my dog's health record but not other peoples dogs and my dog came home smelling like a ZOO every single time. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE! read more

I've brought my furbaby here a couple of times now, both for a week or more of boarding. + quick check-in, especially if you have all the paperwork filled out/uptodate vaccine records on hand + no holiday (i.e. higher) pricing + offer individualized play (for an added fee) + can use Treat points toward payment + can cancel reservation anytime, no fee - lack of communication (see below) - not 24/7 pickup, they close at 9p on weekdays and I think earlier on weekends - no free bath, regardless of duration of stay - can't modify reservations on app, and any modifications made thru a phone call do not translate into the app - there are some inconsistencies across employees -- some will store leash/collar, some will accept a food cup, others will not. These inconsistencies was an issue during my pup's most recent stay. I have a specific measuring cup I use that I was willing to leave for their use (and they had previously used), but the lady who checked me in wouldn't accept it, and wrote 1.5cup/feed instead of 1.125cup/feed in the system. So they were overfeeding, and then ran out of food (I always send enough for at least 4-6 extra meals), but didn't alert me until I called to extend the stay. At that point, they checked to see if they had enough food to feed during the extension and that's the first time I heard they had run out of food, likely because they had been overfeeding. Thankfully my dog generally handles transitions in food well and isn't on a special diet, but they didn't know that! They could've provided a substitution that could've made him sick. Because of the overfeeding, the lady I spoke with said they would waive the fee ($1/feed) for the extra food, which I appreciated. But when I picked him up, there was nothing in the notes indicating she promised to waive the fees. And when I caught this on the bill, they were going to charge me for all feeds for the whole time (2 × the number of days he was there), not just the meals after they ran out of his food. This place is far for me, but I boarded here because I had used previous PetHotel in another city. At this point, I'll likely look for another place closer to home. read more

Krystle, the floor manager, is not only incredibly rude and unwilling to help customers. But she also treats other employees as if their roles are beneath her and she couldn't be bothered to engage in such menial tasks. This is not only extremely unprofessional but it is horrible leadership. In fact, there is nothing leader-like about this perspective. However, I would like to acknowledge an amazing staff member- Tran. Not sure about the spelling of his name, sorry He greeted me. Heard my complaints and concerns about his manager. Apologized on her behalf. He went above and beyond to help me check on a products inventory, he called other locations, he assisted me to the checkout counter. He engaged in friendly conversation and helped me problem solve some questions and concerns regarding the cameras I was purchasing, there use and some how-to's. And he was incredibly kind and respectful the WHOLE entire time. He even came back over and assisted when there was an issue with the way the items were ringing up at checkout. THAT is leadership. Tran should be the manager of this location. As I've worked throughout my career studying leadership and training other leaders- statistics and people data consistently shows that people don't quit jobs- they quit poor leadership. I hope a leadership opportunity is in short reach for Tran. And most importantly I hope that upper level Pet Smart management is realizing who has the real leadership skills in this location. The shelves are empty even though the quantity online says the product is here. The lights on the building haven't been replaced in a year at least. It's very dark in the parking area and the building is by itself. The store on the corner, Hobby Lobby has plenty of lighting so I can't blame it on the property itself. The management needs to find a ladder and replace the lights. I just asked an employee as I picked up my order why the lights haven't been fixed, especially when people are getting robbed so often. The young man said he's worked here 12 years and that they've been replaced but they keep going out. I walked him out to show him the entire front walkway lights are burned out and the fixtures on the walls. He said oh ya, we'll get on that. It's just very dark and dangerous here.
