When I first went to sign up for puppy training classes I had a ton of issues online. So naturally I called the store asking for help. The manager Chris was incredibly helpful offering to help me sign up for the classes, and ensure I got the current sale if I came into the store. While I wish the website would have worked in the first place, I realize that is not the stores fault and really appreciate their help and assistance to fix my problem. Today I went in for my first class and the trainer was so nice. I will update my review after our 6 weeks are finished! When I finished class I walked around the store to pick up a few things. I found everything I needed and headed to checkout. The line was long, but the cashiers kept the line moving. She just shaves all the hair off your dog with no regard to your wishes or communication of what she is capable of doing, she's not an experienced groomer and she displays very poor customer service. If anyone goes to the Pet Smart at 1525 Forest Ave, watch out for an employee, older woman with blue eyes, curly gray hair, and a bigger build. She was incredibly snobby in front of me and my 5-year-old son. I was looking to buy a parakeet and a cage, so I asked for her assistance. She tried to rip me off and make me spend over $250 on both to which I politely declined. I explained that I had small birds my whole life and I didn't think spending so much would be necessary. She instantly got snobby with me and said, "well then you should know this is how much you're gonna be spending, maybe next time do some research and don't make impulse decisions to get animals". She then proceeded to tell me I was not allowed to buy the bird since I wasn't willing to buy the necessary cage for it. I was so appalled by her horrific attitude, but I refuse to get confrontational or loud in front of my child so I said, "right, ok thank you, we will be leaving" and walked away. I have never experienced such horrible customer service at this location, and I have been going there for over a decade. This is a current review for the self-service dog wash. The current pricing is flat-rate of $20 for a maximum of 45 minutes using the bath. You must have an appointment and show up on time. We usually bring our own supplies just in case they have run out of clean towels, etc. but normally they have what you need. It's also a good idea to join the store rewards program because using the dog wash area is considered a purchase. If you're washing your dog a couple of times a month the points add up quickly & you can use them to pay for the next wash! The staff is responsible for cleaning the bath between customers which is definitely a plus compared to trying to wash your dog at home! read more

My preferred dog pet store supply store. I don't often need stuff since I make my own dog food at home. It's kinda scuzzy but they do their best trying to keep it clean but dog are allowed to walk inside and they gave accidents. I've bought an adorable pet Halloween costume 75%off each year. A few times a month they gave an adoption day for dogs and cats. Different rescues participate so you have shapes and sizes of all kinds not just 7 of a particular litter. I met a great dog who was over 9yrs old and he may be mine by the end of the week. I've used the grooming services for my last pup and they did an ok job but wasn't a big fan of the cut they gave her Ali only used them once for that. The 1 glaring negative was the dog training class. We took our puppy here paid for the course. She was only 3lbs at the time and they put her in a class with huge pits, mastiffs etc. She completely ignored by the train or we received not one ounce of her attention she spent the entire class teaching the big dogs and told us we should keep her in our lap since these dogs could hurt her. Ummm they why don't you have classes for big dogs and 1 for small dogs. We were told no refunds but we fought for it till we got it. So I completely recommend PetSmart for everything but the training but they do a lot of good for animal charities and I really respect that. read more

If I can give them no stars I would .... the staff is amazing at pet smart BUT THE GROOMING DEPARTMENT IS THE WORSE... first of Ally (the girl at the desk for grooming) was rude and her attitude was just unfriendly.. that turned me off... 2 weeks ago my mom had walked in and had my dogs papers with her she asked them if this was good enough for him to get groomed here they said yes . It was proof of all the shots he had, considering she just came from the vet with my dog. I made an appointment over the phone they told me to just bring the same paper.. we get there and ALLY said it "wasn't good we need the actual certificate from the vet" they needed the vet to fax the same paper we showed them.. needless to say the groomer that was there was very rude and nasty rolling her eyes and talking under her breathe. I have never felt so disrespected .. it was so bad that we walked out with out my dog getting service.. I normally don't write reviews about retail stores but today someone from PetSmart really made me smile. I'm not sure his name- he had a sling on his arm? He gave me really great recommendations for my 17 year old Yorkie who is very sick and not eating. I didn't think my dog would like the freeze dried treats he recommended me to get, but to my very pleasant surprise my dog loved them. Also, the pumpkin he recommended seemed to help his belly. In addition, he was just overall very nice and sympathetic when hearing about my doggie. He was near a lady who had an apron on for one of the dog food brands who also came up to me after and gave me very helpful advice- she was so sweet. Aaron, the manager thinks there's nothing wrong with an associate fake work so she could avoid ringing me up (60 year old) on a new register but once the customer in front of me completes her transaction, the associate decides to bring over the approaching customer that would have been behind me, to her register. Aaron says he does not know why I would be disappointed at that behavior; well I say, Aaron continue to work and gain experience and perhaps you will learn something. In the meantime, I put back my 60.00 of items and told him I don't see the point in shopping there again. Veterinarian services review- Dr. Cheng is amazing! If your pet is a cat I highly recommend! My cat was stuck in the corner for 45 minutes at a different vet, terrified but at PetSmart she was roaming the room like it was her home! Love coming here, they have a huge variety of products and services. They have a dog training school on premises. They also have grooming and veterinary services as well. They have a cat adoption center. It's a very impressive store that offers all types of amenities for our furry (or scaly, or whatever) loves, all under one roof, in a convenient location with ample parking space. i booked an appointment for grooming for my dog with Liz. i normally book all services at the hylan blvd location, however they had no availability for grooming for the days i needed. i booked the appointment for 7:30am. my groomer Liz was late and the other employees who were already in the store wouldn't let me inside until a groomer showed up. after about 20 minutes of waiting outside, Liz finally showed up. once i approached the checkin area, Liz told me that she called me the day prior and left me a voicemail asking if i can come in for 8am instead of 7:30am... at this point, it was 7:45-7:50am so i was confused how 10-15 minutes of me being at the store was an issue when she showed up late anyways (red flag). Liz gave me more details of the services that i booked for my dog, and she took him to the grooming station with no sense of enthusiasm whatsoever. i left and continued on with my day. an hour and a half later, Liz calls me back and basically told me that my dog was misbehaving during his appointment and she is refusing to finish his service. i drove all the way back to pick him up. when i got back to the store, another groomer told me that Liz said my dog was "too wild for her". the other groomer asked Liz if she needed assistance during the service, and Liz declined her offer and instead just called me and told me he has to be picked up. my dog happens to be very social and friendly and loves meeting new people. he loves to be touched and played with so i was very confused as to how he was too wild. at the hylan blvd location, he tolerated a full 4 hour bath and haircut with no issues. after expressing my concerns, Liz said the total of my service was $60. i expressed that $60 for a bath is ridiculous as there was no haircut, nail trimming, or ear cleaning that was done. she told me she would take my dog back to the station and attempt to clean his ears and when i came home i found them to still be dirty. after i paid, i thanked the other groomer and left (and no i did not leave a tip). after reading other reviews, it looks like Liz will only be nice to your dog if they are a frequent client of hers or they are between 5-10 pounds. any bigger than that and she wont tolerate it. read more

They also apparently carry Ellen Degeneres pet toy and accessories line and it's such great stuff for dogs from beds,leashes, too toys. Prices are high but if I like something I buy it regardless. I read so many bad reviews about grooming department I could not disagree more. The people who are grooming the animals are attending to different animals. Animals are not easy to groom . If they were I am sure many people would not spend money to bathe ,brush, nail trim, teeth brush, and anal clean . That is a tremendous job. I know because my mother used to bathe our 4 large German Shepards in our bath tub weekly. I bring my pitbull for a groom here . I have another dog who is nearly impossible to bathe she is 70 lbs. of muscle and she does not like water. I bath her in the yard with our hose. I can stand in the fish tank section for 20 minutes and not have one worker come by. I usually have to search them out. Sometimes I'm told by a worker "sure I can help you out," other times "I'll get someone for you." That's when the waiting game begins. I had one good experience here while picking out a stronger filter for my tank, the worker was very helpful, but I haven't seen him since. However, there is one girl who works by the fish tanks who likes to chastise you for buying feeder fish and worms, but that's the circle of life. I bought 8 goldfish for my turtle, four months ago, I now have 5 goldfish as tankmates because the turtle shows no interest in them. Which sadly I'm going to have to give away because they are being aggressive to my turtle, who would have thought! But anyway, every time I go to buy worms and I have her I get a lecture. read more

I brought my cat for a nail clipping that they advertise. They said it would take 5 minutes, when they brought her out they said they were unable to do it because she was hissing and would not come out of the carrier. Obviously cats hissing is equivalent to a dog barking at you, she was scared. They are professionals and should be able to get a cat out of a carrier, I offered to take her out as well and they denied me service. Very unprofessional and they told me because she gave them a hard time leaving the carrier they would not clip her nails. I am very upset because I am unable to clip them myself so I brought her here with hopes they would be able to do it. Also I am almost positive there are special gloves to be able to get my 10 lb cat out of a carrier and hold her down with a towel. I have purchased an Iams mature dog bag of food and the results were not pleasant. Me and my family were enjoying our dinner (steak and potatoes) and our dog started defecating all over our kitchen floor after eating the food. My new born son Joey was playing in his pen and watched in terror, now we cannot potty train him because he saw the dog doing it and he thinks it's correct. I'm not sure if it's pet smart but I have purchased iams mature dog food many of times and it has never had this affect on our little chihuahua (Betsy) she defecated more than her body weight. this is unacceptable and for that reason I'm giving it five stars read more

I never really give bad reviews but I've had it with their grooming services . Every time I bring my dog there is a problem ! I have the sweetest dog and just needed to get her nails trimmed . They called my vet to get them to fax over documents about her shots because the paper I had wasn't signed but it was a printed out bill . Then they want to tell me they can't accept it because my dog is 14 she does not need a distemper shot anymore so the groomer would not cut her nails . Please do yourself a favor, don't ask the staff here for any advice or insight because they're not knowledgable and provide haphazard information. I asked the manager for the best dog food for seniors and he recommended a brand stating that it has "glucosamine" which mitigates the arthritis. He gave me a whole spiel & I was ready to purchase until I figured, let me look at the ingredients first. Lo and behold... No glucosamine in the ingredients. At. All. On another occasion I asked an associate for a generic eye wash solution. She claimed that they don't sell anything that requires putting something inside an animal, anything that's medication. Even generic? Well LO AND BEHOLD I found that they do carry ear irrigation (um.. That's something that goes inside an animal) and the eye wash I wanted. But it was out of stock. I then educated the associate on her store inventory and that the store does in fact, carry generic eye washes, but they ran out so if they had any in back stock - I would like to purchase. She then proceeds to say that the aisle i found it at has been empty for a while so it's probably discontinued. Really? This store is easy for me to get to and it has everything that I need most of the time for my cats. There is a wide variety of foods, carriers, cages and other accessories. The prices are great for the most part. I have seen other reviews here. Regarding the adoption cats in the room with the glass: they do not really rush to offer assistance or go out of their way to find homes for them. When there is an event and the cats and dogs are out front they seem to do better with this. I had been looking for the June issue of Cat Fancy Magazine for about three weeks because someone mentioned an article that I may interested in reading. A floor attendant asked me if I was looking for something and I told him. He replied that they are not carrying a lot of the magazines anymore because of lack of sales. It is now - June 5 and the magazine is not in the store yet.- and subscribers have had it for three weeks. My next chance is next week- June 12th. No wonder they are selling the magazines! I would never consider using the veterinary services or the grooming services because I know that outside providers that specialize in these areas will be better. I have noticed that it is much better to visit the store during the week when the staff is ready to assist you if you need it. They are not as rushed and more likely to offer better service because there are fewer patrons. read more
