I like this Petsmart, not so sure why the low rating... I don't think you should give a business one star because you or your GPS can't find it... Anyways, I get good service here most of the time and the staff has been really helpful to me. I also like the fact that the pet food selection for cats and dogs goes from average/commercial end to quality, top-of-the-line brands. Besides being a costumer here, I have been easily entertained on my lunch hour coming here and watching the dogs frolic in the daycare or playing with the kitties up for adoption. They have a full-service grooming and vet clinic in this location as well. You can also come on Saturdays where you can meet and greet the dogs for adoption outside. Cute! My only complaint is the higher prices for certain items. read more

It's a pretty decent PetSmart. They have adoptions on the weekends, a pet hospital, and the pet hotel right there. It's conveniently located, the store is as clean as I expected a pet store to be, their selection of birds, reptiles, fuzzy pocketpets and fishies was good. We just brought in our westie, Finn to the grooming section here and had previously gotten his nails clipped where they had unfortunately split one of his nails. We took him in to get it fixed and Kayla was so sweet and awesome and took care of him so well and even put up with him acting like a total hooligan while she did a great job clipping his nails. I brought my new dog to get groomed after he had been rescued, having spent a week in a shelter. He had a scab on his neck, which the vet cleared as no problem. The attendant who was checking him in squeezed the scab causing it to bleed and then sent me away saying they couldn't groom him while he was bleeding. I didn't get him to bleed doing all sorts of activities, including his pulling on the leash, so I lay all the bleeding on her and her cruel handling of him. I then brought him to Happy Paws and they saw him right away and couldn't understand any of PetStupid's "logic" in sending him away. The poor dog needed to be groomed asap as he was slighted matted after being in the kennel. I went back to this store to buy him Frontline. The vet doesn't carry it. Seriously?? One of the most popular flea/tick treatments and they no longer have it and won't be restocking it!?? Target does better than this "store" does. I will not be going back. read more

Our puppy is 6 months old and we wanted to get her a great cut for her first experience. We picked her up from an expensive haircut and she looked terrible! We looked at reviews immediately for another groomer to correct the mistakes that had been made to our Daphne and Petsmart came up with strong recommendations for Kayla! We went in to Petsmart met Kayla and immediately she asked us who had done this to our puppy! She took Daff, and in 15 minutes gave us the cut we really wanted. She was absolutely terrific, we could not recommend her more highly! Before you spend $85 or $100 on a cut go see Kayla and get your dog cut for $40. It is well worth it! read more

My groomer at the Smyrna location is Bea...she always greets me at the door, she is very informative, she keeps me up-to-date on what's going on, she's patient and she takes care of my baby Ace and grooms him very well... Parking can be a zoo, since this is in the same shopping center as Michaels, TJ Maxx, and world market. But, they have doggy day care and we love to watch the dogs play through the big picture window in the store. read more

Well I'm writing this review because of the great customer service and product knowledge that the store associate gave me - I don't know his name but the cashier was complaining about his handwriting- (which mine is terrible ) MARCUS ...He was very knowledgeable and really wasn't trying to flex his knowledge muscles which I find in poor taste - but what he did do - was qualify me for the size tank - suggested food for the bottom feeders - and it was a pleasant experience and I would go back just to see him for more fish - he said they were out on neon tetras but they would be coming in soon- I don't judge people by their handwriting and I find it in very poor taste for the front end cashier to be making such a big deal about his handwriting- He seemed to be the only one working at the time - HE WAS GREAT AND BECAUSE OF HIM - I WILL BE BACK TO THAT LOCATION - JOB WELL DONE - read more

I just adopted an adoroble Schanauzer from a very abusive situation and I decided to buy all of the things that he needed from this location. Staff was very friendly and helpful as was the Vet that took care of him. The next step was to get him all cleaned up and I decided to take him to the grooming section and that was one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES I HAVE EVER MADE. I took him in 24 hours before his appointment to get familiar with their procedures and I also personally met the groomer that would be taking care of his hair cut, nails etc. The following day, I dropped him for his appointment which would take 3 hours and then all hell broke loose! I got a call from the attendant who said "There has been an accident - I cut off your dogs ear; he has been bleeding and is now at the Vet's next door - please hold on for my Manager"!!! ARE YOU KIDIDNG ME? The Manager (Alicia) came and tried to talk to me about the sitution and then put the vet on the phone who said that the dog wasn't freaking out; and the bleeding had stopped and she would attempt to glue the piece back together using surgical glue. The bleeding had been severe because of the location of the cut, and she assured me that he would be fine. I however decided to send a friend to pick him because I was so angry at that point and I knew that I would do/say something stupid if I went down there to pick him up myself. Unfortunately, the glue came off when we got home and he bled for quite a while and then stopped. He now has an open has an open gash and I hate these people for doing this to him. It's not bad enough that he came from an abusive him but them to butcher his ear like that was just not acceptable. As I write this, nobody has called me to check up on him from that horrible grooming place. The Vet's office called me 2 days later and I explained the situation to them and they said to keep him clean to avoid any infections. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO PETSMART GROOMING IN SMYRNA. They are the most unprofessional and horrible people I have ever met. It's a shame because the rest of the store is great but the groomers leave a lot to be desired. read more

I really enjoy shopping at this Petsmart! I have come here what seems like dozens of times after adopting my puppy, and I have always received great service from the staff here. Once, after my little guy outgrew his first harness, I was standing confused in the collar aisle, trying to figure out which style to buy for him as a replacement. A district manager that just happened to be visiting the Smyrna store sat down on the floor with me in the middle of the aisle and helped me pick out a new one and adjust it so it was the perfect size for my puppy. During another visit, we picked out a bag of peanut butter flavored bones, but when we took them home, we learned they were too hard for our puppy to chew. This Petsmart location took the treats back for an exchange no questions asked, even though the bag had been opened and one treat had been futilely gnawed on. We've also had the dog groomed here twice, and both times he looked great and the price was very good. read more

I would highly recommend using this PetSmart for their camp program. We have been bringing our dog here for camp 3 times a week for over a year now. The staff is friendly and acknowledges your dog's individual needs. They always put him with the appropriate sized dogs and he always comes home tired. A few weeks ago we had to board our dog for the first time, we chose PetSmart because he knows the staff and is comfortable with the environment. I was happy to hear that the camp staff, knowing it was my dog's first boarding experience, put him in a high foot traffic area because they knew he would get lonely and scared. If I had one complaint, it would be that it can take a little long to get in and out of the store. There is never more than 2 cashiers working at a time and the lines can get kind of long. Even though I choose that I want my receipt emailed to me it still prints out a survey receipt that the cashier needs to explain to everyone in his/her line, which makes checkout time take a little longer. At the Pethotel, they have a strange sales system. On one computer they check you out, and it prints out a sheet of paper with a barcode on it for them to scan, then on another computer they ring you up. This means that only one dog can be checked out at a time, so sometimes getting in and out of there can be a hassle. But it's a minor thing. read more

My dog boarded here several times. This last boarding experience, my dog had scratches on his nose and I had to bring it to their attention after I left and notice it. When I called back to the pet hotel, the young lady who answered the phone said that he scratched it on the door trying to get their attention. He was in a suite with a glass door. I called customer service and asked did the door have anything on it for a dog to scratch their nose. Customer service called the pet hotel and the assistant manager said that she saw the scratches but forgot to mention it. She said he was burying his carrots, that's how he got the scratches. He don't bury, dig things. Something is strange. All I ask is tell the truth. If you board here check your dog before leaving. On a positive note they sent him to the vet clinic in Macon to be checked out. He is doing good and his nose is healing. read more

I would not recommended sending any pet to get groomed here. I took my yorkie Sofi to get her hair cut today and when I got her back she looked absolutely horrible. It was like they handed scissors to a 3yr old. They were shown a picture of how I wanted her hair cut it was more than long enough to get just about any hairstyle. I have attached photos with what i asked for what she looked like before and what she looks like now after i took her to these clearly no skilled people. As you can see she looks nothing compared to what I asked for. I am extremely unhappy and upset about the result and do not plan on ever returning to get groomed over there. read more

The store is fine. The grooming area is bad. Why did Petsmart institute "Express" grooming? Their website states: "When the groom is complete, your pet will be returned to you right away, so we will ask you to stay in or near the store during your pet's appointment." Oh Really? I wasn't asked to stay in the store or "nearby" today, (whatever that means) and when I returned I was lectured because my dog's bath took 30 minutes (instead of the 45 I was told) and somehow that was MY fault. I was told I could leave so I did. My dog has taken 2 hours for her bath in the past, and today it took 30 minutes???? She came home wet, not brushed, shedding, and smelling bad. I think all they did was get her wet. I paid $40 for them to get my dog wet and lecture me on not leaving the store when my dog gets a grooming service. An employee in the grooming area was VERY rude to me (not the groomer who did my dog, but another person there) and told me if I am ever late again, I will not be "allowed" to use your grooming services every again. Oh REALLY? I asked her what happened to institute this "Express" grooming and she replied "NOTHING!" in a very defensive manner. Seriously? They must have killed a dog for them to have changed their policy so drastically since I was last there. So No, I won't be returning to Petsmart for grooming. They have changed their policies, they don't give accurate times to return to pick up your dog, and then they blame it on YOU, and some of their employees are horribly rude. The grooming isn't very good, either, and it's ridiculously expensive for what you get. I definitely don't recommend this place for grooming. read more

I would like to give this place more stars, however, they have to do something about their staffing. The last 3 times I have been in around 6 o'clock and there is one person working the register. Each time there have been 4-5 people waiting to check out. It should not take 20 minutes to check out with one bag of cat / dog food. This is a sure way to push your customers to Amazon. read more

I like this Petsmart, it's clean, organized and they have great customer service. They have a good variety of items for my cat. I pretty much always find what I need there. Parking can be a bear though and sometimes the lines are long. I don't know why this Petsmart has such a low rating, because I love this store!!! The sales associates are ALWAYS helpful and the store is clean. I have never used their veterinary services or their grooming services, but this store is perfect if you are looking for basic pet supplies. Our beagle stays at the Pet Hotel several times a year. While he hates the place for obvious reasons, we quite like the service. They are always professional and quick about checking in and out. My first time and I'm definitely not happy with these guys. Brought my dog in to be groomed and was automatically charged more than what was shown at time of booking online. They called two hours after I dropped her off (around noon) and I told them I would be in around 5:30 since, ya know, I work. They called a second time around 4PM to which I responded the same way. When I showed up, she was still partially wet and her legs had some sort of dried on gunk. Then I notice her hind legs where her undercoat was still thick (literally the reason I brought her in). They did a shoddy job on trimming her paws, she still had TONS of loose hair all over (meaning they didn't blow dry her), and where they did attempt to cut her hair, it looked like a child held the scissors. All of this and they wanted to charge me for a a FULL groom! I just wanted the basic groom where most of her body wasn't to be trimmed - just the touch up areas. Luckily I approached the manager and said I wasn't paying for the sloppy work. She tried to push back on the quality but I said I could have done what they did. All I can say - make your expectations known BEFORE dropping your pet off. And get a seasoned groomer. Ask "who's been here the longest?" and pick that person. Otherwise they will get some noobie that doesn't care about your dog. read more

Courtney is our favorite groomer ... she's knowledgeable and wonderful with my two little doggies. Linda, Jill and the rest of the staff at the PetsHotel are great, too ... Always sweet, welcoming and attentive with my babies. I am very disappointed. I have taken my dog to this petsmart twice. The first time i picked him up he seemed lathargic and out of it. I figured he was tired. He is a Yorkie and is very playful and full of energy. Well I picked him up today and he is once again "drugged" . He can barely walk. I love taking my dog to the pet hotel... but when I pick him up, I get a report that he went potty in his 'hotel room' i.e. cage several times. I asked them if they took him out every couple of hours (he is a toy breed) and they said no. Apparently they didn't know toy breeds need to go potty more than normal. The staff are pretty nice however, I think they need to be trained that toy breeds AND puppies should go potty every few hours and also take ALL dogs out after 9PM for one last potty break. The last time they take the dogs out are around 6PM! I asked about that and requested that around 9 to 10 PM, my dog should go out one more time. Thanks to them, my dog now has a bad habit that it is okay to go potty in his crate. I am not happy. read more

Just to preface, I never go out of my way to make reviews like this. Being in the service industry myself, I know that first impressions aren't always a fair judge. But after my THIRD instance i thought that it was time. I frequently come to this location to purchase my dog food, treats, toys, nail trimming services and vet services. The first time we made an appointment with the vets office (our dog was then 6 months old) the service was fine. The vet was nice but we felt that she was almost obligating us to set up an appointment to nueter our dog (this will come back later in the story). For MANY personal reasons, we have decided not to nueter him. It triples the risk of obesity, it increases the risk of him developing hemangiosarcoma, triples the risk of hypothyroidism, senior dog "dementia" and if done too young (when PetSmart suggests that you do it before 8 months of age) it can cause hip dysplasia and bone cancer. Anyways, we denied her request and moved on. During this vet trip, we provided them with a copy of his rabies vaccine info and they did not return it. Which wasn't the problem. Until several weeks later we were attempted to bring him in for his first Pet Hotel stay. Over the phone, they claim that no matter what, they need his rabies vaccination info. We go to the Banfield office in store where he had those vaccines completed and they claimed that they did not have any information on our dog at all. Funny, considering how he had gotten his nails trimmed a week prior and they make you have rabies documents for that too and let him through saying that there was proof of it on their end? My other issue with the pet hotel was again, over the phone, they reassured me that I would have to fill out paper work explaining his temperament, what he liked, didn't like, his history, how he eats, etc. After scrambling to access his vet from his previous owner and getting another copy of his rabies vaccine, upon arriving to the Pet Hotel, they didn't ask to see his rabies paperwork, didn't ask for any info about our dog, didn't say much of anything, just took him back. A little flustered but not thinking too much of it, we left him there overnight. The next afternoon, we received a call from them saying that they realized that our dog wasn't neutered (even though over the phone they said that it was totally fine and he could still participate in ALL DAY puppy camp and the only reason we were letting him stay there) and that they would be removing him from the other dogs and putting him back in his area...by himself. Being the first time that I have ever tried to put a dog in a dog hotel/doggie camp I was not aware of the non-nuetered rule. Which was fine, i understand, but it was not made aware to me prior us leaving him there and traveling 3 hours away. He was only 6 months old, they separated him to himself to be alone the rest of the time he was staying. Upon picking up they also tried to charge me for the doggie day camp. At the least I was not pleased. Several months later, we have continued to purchase our dog items with them with no issue, until today. I went in for a regular nail trim, upon arriving to the store an insessant employee followed me around and bent down to my dog for what I thought was her petting him. She then passive-aggressively asked "why aren't you neutered yet??" I get that they are trained to think that it's the best choice but...rude. I was kind of thrown off and just laughed it off, she asked what dog food I have been buying him because I needed to make sure that I had him on the right puppy diet (he is not overweight or underweight). He eats only the best and the most ingredient conscious PUPPY food. Starting to get annoyed I went to go into the grooming door of PetSmart, she began to FOLLOW me into the grooming room telling me that his collar was too tight. I told her that it wasn't and that he has a deceiving amount of fur/neck rolls and that if it was any looser he could slide his head right out of it. My dog is a beagle mix, he is clean, sweet, not aggressive,and clearly well taken care of. Still following me, she was pressuring me to buy the puppy plan because I could get my nail trim for free on my first time, get him a bath (he is clean) and stay in the puppy hotel for free. I told her that I wasn't interested and that I had already done all of the above. At this point, I really just wanted her to leave me alone. I honestly felt so attacked and that it was completely out of her place to say that to a customer. Excuse me, LADY! I will say that I have never had a bad experience with them trimming my dogs nails, they are always sweet to him, they never cut him too short, and he's never too scared or upset. This is probably the longest review ever but I would honestly skip this place if you were interested in anything other than basic grooming or just buying food/treats. read more

I was in the store June 10th 2016 around 1:00-1:45. While trying to figure out which line to go to at checkout today, one of the two cashiers available looked up at me and said "I'm closed so I don't know why you are looking over here." I proceed to go to the other girl and check out and the experience was just as bad with her. Sign on the dog food aisle states you get 2 free cans of dog food when you buy a bag of purina dry food. I ask her if that will apply for both of the bags I am buying and she tells me no pretty rudely. Then while I'm just standing there, since she hasn't said anything I ask if I need to go get the canned food and she gets an attitude and is like uh yeah.. (sorry I can't read your mind) So I go get the two cans and come back and ask if there is a specific reason why I can not get all four cans. She doesn't answer and just starts punching stuff into the computer. Apparently the canned food I got wouldn't scan so she says "Is this even the right food" and I say "Yes, it says any purina pro health canned food." She walks away for around 5 minutes and comes back with the same cans, and scans them and has figured it out. She then tells me I can go get two more cans. After not answering me and telling me I couldn't get all four cans. She obviously did not know what she was doing or the rules and just told me no because she didn't know how to do it and was too lazy to go ask anyone. I have worked in customer service for years, and I know it is tough sometimes but this is unacceptable. People should not have these jobs if they aren't going to act right. Looks like you need to be looking for some more associates, PetSmart. read more
