I am LIVID. so I just got myself a baby kingsnake and had no idea what to do for her perfect habitat. Some pushy jerk sold me a 10 gal tank with a lamp with 75 watt basking and night lamp. Well its TOO HOT and it almost roasted my baby. So I got 50 watt bulbs and kept the lamp. The basking bulb burnt out and the red one EXPLODED. Thank god I wasn't holding it over the cage. I am so mad and I feel like petsmart is trying to kill my snake at this point. Make this right. read more

Horrible experience at the grooming salon expecting my dog to be groomed since she was shedding really bad not only did I wait a week to get this appt done but because they couldn't handle her , my baby girl apparently bit one of the lady's they called me 15 minutes into the appt to say "this isn't going to work We have your dog sky here and she needs to be picked up and needs to go home immediately "and also banned my dog from coming to this grooming place. The lady's name I spoke with was Jessica. My dog is very friendly so I'm shock this happened but it's ok it only taught me I won't trust them with my pets at all. This Petsmart has been a wonderful place to visit and we come atleast once a week! Their staff are all very wonderful and their Banfield Vet hospital is also amazing. They definitely have more selection of products vs the local Petco and is also much cleaner! They have many cleaning stations as well. read more

So I have this theory when it comes to customer service. It's probably out there and totally crazy but here goes; At no time EVER should the employees response to any question asked by the customer be, 'I have no idea' The 'i have no idea' response is simply an admittance that you 'don't care at all' not even enough to abide by your position named, 'customer service representative' That name implies that you represent the service that your company provides. There seems to be a culture here of putting the blame back on the customer instead of a culture of trying to make things right. We ordered something online and selected the "pick up in store" option. We left empty handed and annoyed. Gary and Tom have adopted the good cop bad cop routine for customer service. I don't typically complain but this has been a reoccurring issue at this location. The cashiers here do not come across professional. I have been called a "sir" multiple times at this location when I am a woman. I have short hair, and this automatically became the reason to why I was a "sir". The staff here needs to be educated and explain to not use those pronouns when they are unaware. Or just don't use them at all. No one should be automatically assuming you are a certain gender over a characteristic they may have, it is just plain rude. read more

This was my first time here for grooming and when I arrived there they told me that the appointment was canceled. I was not called and they didn't offer any rescheduling. The lady was rude and was not empathetic because this is literally the 3rd time in a row that PetSmart cancels my appointment but at a different location. All she did was give attitude. I went in for puppy supplies and wasn't too sure what i needed. Raul helped me find what i need and even helped me sign up for a petco account so i could get a discount and afford what i needed. He went above and beyond to help. By far the most helpful employee at petco. Yes most petco employees are nice and helpful but he made sure i had what i absolutely needed and was able to get it. Came in to shop for Tropical Fish however after surveying there selection and overall conditions of their aquariums decided to pass. Selection was sparse, fish not looking well and the tanks were dirty inside and out! This was a same condition mentioned in another post a month ago. I normally go to the El Cajon location for the last 5 years, which I love. However, this time I went to the Santee location because I was in the area. First, I gave a rabies shot record, which they did not accept, stating it expired. They kept me there for a 20 minute delay dropping the 3 dogs off so I had to have the vet call them. Even the vet stated it was clearly current! Secondly, I was charged for the wrong breeds. They stating that the dogs were "too big for this breed." yet they are purebred maltese and are charged by breed, not size. Then they charged extra because one of the dogs was difficult to groom (she's 5 lbs!). Also, one of the dogs had a big cut on them from the grooming. When I called for a refund for being charged the wrong breed I was asked to go to my other Petsmart from now on and not return there. They issued a refund very begrudgingly and rudely. I was fully dissatisfied and will not return. read more

GROOMING REVIEW: My puppy was in need of a haircut. The hottest week in San Diego was coming up so I couldn't wait another day. Luckily, PetSmart had openings that day so I made an appointment with Dustin. I brought my puppy in & poor girl didn't move. Lol. She was not happy that I was leaving & she was getting groomed. They told me it would take about 3 hours. I came back 3 1/2 hours later & my puppy was getting the last bit of her haircut done. I had to wait an extra 30 minutes. It took an hour longer than I was told, but that was fine because I came in before they called to beat traffic plus Dustin did an AMAZING job! I saw my puppy wasn't happy getting a haircut, but Dustin handled it very well & was patient. I loved her haircut & he used the color enhancing shampoo on her. They give a Pawgress Report (great play on words haha) to let you know how your dog did throughout their appointment. Dustin met with me after her appointment to give me tips, let me know how she did, & went over her Pawgress report. Excellent customer service! read more

This review is based solely on my grooming experience. I have a soon to be 5 year old chihuahua/jack russel terrier/papillon mix (yes a quite a mutt I know). When I first got him I had taken him to Petco to get him groomed. Bad idea, my little baby looked horrible and was not too content either when he got out of there. So I had to find a new place nearby my house, none of that boutique dog salon crap, it would be too hard to get an appt. so I found there was this Petsmart. First off, all their groomers attend a grooming school to do what they do. They always have a smile on their face, and are always content to see my little Capone whenever he comes in. There used to be a young girl who worked there named Jackie, and she used to LOVE when my dog came in and I kid you not she groomed him to a tee, if I didn't like something she wouldn't mind fixing him up either. Jackie doesn't work there anymore but the groomers are ALL extremely friendly and caring. They all get to know your dog very well. They know Capone by name, they know his tail has to be trimmed to look similar to a rat's tail, and they know to always have Capone groomed by a female. It's no wonder my dog comes out wagging his tail like a mad man as soon as he's done! Their very affordable. My dog is about 9lbs and they charge me $33. They finish anywhere from 2-4 hours, which is nice if you have to go run some errands. They even will polish your dog's nails at your request! read more

LINDA WAS AWESOME! We bought 10 ghost shrimp and the had an infestation of trumpet snails in their filters. I asked if she could scrape a few off so I could feed them to my g/fs puffer fish. I was walking around wonder why it was taking so long....she musta scraped off like 60 for us. I stopped in this store today for some advice on starting a larger fish tank and to pick up some supplies. I dealt with two younger girls who knew absolutely NOTHING about the department they were helping me in. They were showing me things I didnt ask for and didnt understand much I was saying apparently. Then she told me to try the el cajon store because it has a much larger fish area. They keep the same inventory. I just left that one so I knew that. Then she pulled out a tablet and googled what i was looking for! I then walked her over and showed her one they had for example. She then conitued to look on google for a couple minutes until she finally recommended a competitor pet store 45 minutes away for answers. Oh and I politely asked if there was a 'fish guy' on duty I could talk to and she said NO ONE there could answer my questions and the guy that could would be in in..two days. K bye! Thanks for nothing and complete ignorance of basic fish info, even though you are helping people in this department. Its not the girls fault..she shouldnt be the one answering these questions Petsmart. I dont understand how you manage to run a massive pet store but arent staffing them with knowledgeable people. Well, I've seen better Petsmart's. The place looked clean and most of the shelves were stocked. The thing I didn't like about this place was the employees. They are rude, they don't talk to you, or ask if you need help. I walked around this place at least 3 times looking at pet beds and cat junk and not once did someone ask if I needed help finding something, which I did, by the way. I have had 2 different dog health experiences here with over 5 years apart and both Dogs cost me over $2000 a piece in countless visits of suggested medicines, treatments & foods. none of them worked for my pets. My first was for skin treatment and after I did my own research she was cured by simply fish oil pills for humans!! and my second had to be euthanized because of distemperament as a puppy. that they claimed was a perfectly healthy puppy at first against my wife and i's better judgment. Nevertheless after two weeks of a circus act and lots of money spent with them. on the day I put her down, they asked me to remove her from my arms go pay $171 before following through with the procedure as if I haven't given them so much money without question before and you're going to asked me to set my dying puppy down to go pay bill. Went in for a grooming appointment after we missed our appointment 6 weeks ago. My dog was checked in, groomer asked one last question does Teddy have any medical conditions? I said five days ago he had a seizure which he's had before. Which the on-site vet has a record of. She goes back to talk to the grooming manager. Came out and said she had a safety meeting and they're no longer taking dogs with recent medical conditions without seeing a vet due to high stress being groomed. I said wouldn't it be safer for him to be here if he does have a seizure to walk him over to the vet on-site? She said it's not about safety "even know she said it was a safety meeting" but company liability. I said didn't I just sign off on the waiver releasing all liability? She says yes but I could still sue the company. I asked could you show me in the policy where it says this? She said no it's new. Ok. So we are new to having a family pet. Do we decided to start off simple. We got a beta fish and small tank. The guy from the fish department was extremely helpful and knowledgable. We came home set everything up. We were told to wait 2 weeks before adding the albino catfish (they are allowed to be in the same tank) we did. Fast forward 2 weeks later. Go back. Bring home snow white (catfish) add to tank love (beta) tries to eat her... Called petsmart, had to take her back. Love is in mating mode. Not safe for the other fish, they were very understanding and took the fish back no problem. As for our kids, they were bummed! We will continue to go back to petsmart for our pet needs. read more

Dustin is great with my dog and shows he really cares about his work as well as the fur babies that come in for grooming. I will make sure Kili is groomed by him every time I bring him in. Very disappointed after 5+ years with this business. The customer service was extremely poor. They cancelled on me 3 times in a row (the groomers weren't available when the time came for the actual appointment) and when I finally got an appointment that was convenient for THEM, they still managed to fail to comply. I came early, at the request of the groomer and after waiting 30 minutes I had to seek out someone to help me, only to be told that it wasn't their appointment so it wasn't their problem. Nice!!! Then I called corporate and they listened to my complaint but never followed up with anything they said they would do. Customer service has gone way down hill at this place. read more

I just got the cutest mini weiner dog and i went to Pet Smart to get my supplies and I bought a Pet starter for $20 and it saved a ton of money! It came with a Puppy Orientation for the pet owner which i went to the very next day with David and it was the best thing I could have done as a new dog owner. David showed me great tips and tricks for crating, potty training and supervision. I would highly recommend working with David. My only complaint is that I signed up both times in store for pet perks and it did not work either time so i had to create a log in at home, no big deal but just make sure you have an account so you start getting points! read more

Horrible place. Lazy workers in grooming. Just want to talk and gossip. Don't want to do their job. I made an appointment online for my dogs. I went in. 6 people all sitting and gossiping and they can't see my dogs because they are running behind. ....LIARS! You're all idiots trying to feel like the boss to take time to do absolutely nothing but be on your phones. YOU'RE AT WORK! They didn't even have any dogs there. Also, my dogs were scheduled for different times, half an hour difference. Two on time, the other was EARLY!!! There is no excuse for those lazy workers to not see my dogs. Yea I have three, but that's why I scheduled the appointments. And they wouldn't even look at the screen and the times. I really needed this appointment because I work Monday to Friday, but I'll never come here again. Who wants to come to a place where even if you schedule an appointime, an employee will decide if they even want to see your dog or not. If they feel like it. If they want to. That is absolutely horrible. Even before I could tell them my dogs names and times, "We're running behind and can't see them. All I can do is schedule another appointment." For what!? So you can just say no again next time? THIS IS PETSMART. FOR PETS! I have THREE, but that is no reason to turn me away. None of you apparently are even dog lovers. I have no idea why you're working there. But I guess it's for the best. Why would I want an employee that doesn't like dogs to even touch my dogs. You all need a new job. A store without pets. Super rude "customer service", clearly only know how to treat animals "well" but not the humans spending money to bring their animals here. My puppy and I love coming to this PetSmart! Almost every associate knows my puppy and will come say hi to her. My puppy loves the attention she gets and will walk all over the entire store to say hi to everyone. I love taking her because it helps her sleep at night (she tires herself out there).
