I have been a Kahoots customer for many years. They have recently moved store fronts, but still remain in the same shopping center as 'Trader Joes.' This is the second time they have moved since I've been with them. When they first moved to their current location, for me, it was farther away, not nearly as convenient & it has a horrible parking lot! However, I have remained a loyal customer. Why? Because of two very special employees & the high quality standard of customer service they provide. From the very beginning, Jacki welcomed me like an old friend. She made me feel like I was already a part of the Kahoots family & not just another invisible stranger coming through their door. Later, when I met Carol, she was also very welcoming & treated me like I was part of the Kahoots family. Over the years, the two of them have shared with me their wealth of product knowledge & personal experiences. There excellence in customer service has been instrumental in developing a long lasting relationship. They have always gone above & beyond to help me, no matter what! Whenever I have had an issue or a question that they had no a mediate answer for, they did not hide from it. They did not waste my time with lame excuses, nor did they try to cover it with some BS answer. They would simply ask, "Can you give me a little bit of time to do some research & get back with you?" Skeptical? Yes! However, as it turned out they didn't forget. I am very happy to report that they have never left me hanging without an answer. They have always responded back in a timely manner. Providing clear intelligent answers, practical solutions, or otherwise, made thoughtful & helpful recommendations. It is my opinion, that when lead by their example everyone benefits. If you're looking to buy food for your pet Kahoots is your place. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. I love that they have a variety of raw food, treats, goat milk, oils (salmon, etc) toys, bedding, leases and more. They even carry Dr Marty's raw food. They even have services for your fur babies Shots, teeth cleaning clinics, etc. I think the only thing they don't have here is grooming services . But I love Kahoots because they have brands that your traditional pet stores may not have, including a cold & freezer section. And because they honor our military they offer a 10% discount on your order. . If you haven't ever been inside, you should give it a try. It's a great place and pet friendly. read more

We love Kahootz, they have a huge selection of actual healthy options for dogs and cats (and other furry friends), tons of beds, collars, treats, food, and natural chew options. The store is super clean and organized, and the staff very friendly and sweet, always willing to help. The service here is definitely quick, which I appreciate when I'm in a hurry. However, the prices are pretty high compared to other pet stores. Unfortunately, my experience with customer service wasn't great either. As a Hispanic customer, I felt like the staff were less attentive and less helpful compared to how others were being treated. We were looking for a harness for our dog. The sales lady was extremely helpful. I really recommend this store.

I've started coming here a few months ago when I adopted my dog. I have never ever been disappointed! The staff are extremely friendly! I'm always greeted by smiling faces of employees. I've even brought my dog along a couple of times and the staff were so nice and friendly to my dog that was overly excited of the store. The employees gave him treats and samples of some treats they sold. Prior to this, I could never get my dog to eat any treats. I was so shocked when he ate every single one they offered. I bought the bags they gave him to try at home. I'm super grateful because I've been able to train my dog so much better with treats. I was struggling with just the clicker. They also have a very good selection of toys and accessories for dogs. If you just carefully look down each aisle, you'll be surprised at what you can find. I recently bought a "seatbelt" for my dog. Best investment ever. I've found my dog loves too look out the window. But he is so short that he can easily get thrown around in a moving car. The seat belt has helped to make sure he doesn't fall too far or can't jump to the front when he's in the back seat. There's a lot of variety of everything such as the dry and wet food. They don't have a lot of the higher end brands such as royal canin or hills science diet if you're looking for that. It doesn't hurt to check yourself ofc! But I didn't see any. I also love they have the pumpkin puree that I love to give my dog by Peruvee. If I forget to get it online, it's good to know they have the specific brand I prefer. Just note parking is not that great because it's in the same parking lot as Trader Joe's. read more

Came in today looking for a new dry dog food for my dog. Per my dogs vet she needed a kibble with grain. Spoke to a lovely woman who work there. I forgot to get her name. After our conversation about kibble and dog food, she offered me samples of the Kahoots brand kibble for my dog to try. That was awesome. I will definitely try it out and be back for sure. My Dogs were raised in Ramona. since late 90's my Rottweilers and other dogs always ate Kahoots food. I live downtown now and use to live in LaMesa and I like this store. Checked out this store as it's not a major chain and I try to support small businesses as much as possible. Entering store, it's clean and staff were friendly, helpful and pointed me in the direction of their parrot feed. Selection was non existent, generic (Kaytee / ZuPreem) overpriced and upon further inspection, invested with moths. Granted moths aren't harmful to Parrots and are a source of protein, I found this to be unacceptable and a sign feed isn't fresh. read more

Went to Kahoots with my Vader for the first time yesterday, and while they have a HUGE selection of items they were lacking on major thing. FRIENDLY WORKERS. Seriously. They ladies working there were all pretty rude and just stood around the register talking about something in a hushed manner. My husband was with me, and we both noticed it. They weren't even nice at the registers. I mean if I'm giving you my hard earned money, you can at least TRY to be friendly. And Vader was well behaved- except for one moment of barking at a shadow- but not a reason to be rude. Especially not in a pet store for Pete's sake. The selection is a reason to come back, but the service, at least not on this date- was seriously lacking. If I wanted rude workers, I'd go to the larger chains' store in Lemon Grove- which is another story. read more

I always go here for my babies food. I've gone through so many different brands and the Kahoots brand and toppers are the only dog food that my pups will devour, never leaving any scraps behind. But I wanted to venture into raw dog food and the pet stores I've been to haven't been able to give me much info. I'm so glad I talked to the knowledgeable staff here! She educated me on how to prep my pups' stomachs to digest a raw diet and how to transition into raw from kibble as well as options on how to incorporate both kibble and raw. They also have great toys and products for your fur babies and fish/amphibians and their namesake brand of food and treats are healthy and great tasting for them as well. They also offer shots and dental care on certain days for reasonable prices and on top of all of this they offer military discount! You can't go wrong at Kahoots. Love this place! read more

This pet store is nice. I've been here once before and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Today I was looking for grain free food for my dogs and this store had a nice selection of dog foods. They carry everything your pets will need. I was mostly concerned with the dog items such as healthy treats, toys, shampoos, health products, bedding and collars. If your pet is a cat there were plenty of the same items for cats. I also saw other pet supplies for birds, fish, and hamsters. I noticed a small bird section and a tropical fish area. The staff was available to answer questions; I was greeted upon entering the store. It was a pleasant experience. The prices are reasonable; the shelves were organized and well stocked. read more

All of them are so caring, loving, treat the animals and owners like family. I have great vets, but these ladies have a wealth of information regarding dog food, nutrition, behavior management and referrals in the community. I use them as consultants! We're always in cahoots! I've stopped by here for years to pick up pet food and all my lil buddies enjoy the quality treats. The dog food brand we favor, Orijen, comes from Canada and doesn't have fillers which cause problems. The attendants offer helpful brand suggestions & ask about my pets with genuine interest, it's a small location but the chain was voted best pet store by the local paper for a reason! I also take a moment to say hi & admire the colorful bids, fun for all. We went with the store brand, of wet cat food as Poe, our cat has miraculously eaten & liked all the Kahoots brand canned food, unusual for Poe as he is finicky and wouldnt touch the Greenies treats, but you never know with cats, part of the fun is seeing what they will accept! read more

This is still a wonderful store since I last reviewed it. I got great help from Jackie, who is very knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions about my neighbor's cat. They have the medication that this cat needs for tapeworm, and there is no need to go through a vet. Jackie was very familiar with the symptoms, and even advised me how to approach my neighbor about it when I asked. Elizabeth has moved to the Vista store, and if you see my previous review you'll know how wonderful she was. Now you get to talk to Jackie, and I'm sure some other helpful stuff there to make sure that you're doing the best you can by your pet. Stopped in to this pet store during an impromptu Trader Joe's trip and am SO glad I did. The first thing that really stood out was the staff. Really friendly, nice greeting and were able to engage me immediately into talking about my pet. Mind you, I normally don't like talking to people at all when I am browsing/shopping so getting me to speak about my dog Petunia right out of the gate was no easy feat. They have a nice selection of just about everything pet related without that big box pet store feel. Their dog toy variety was great - it appears they forego the cheap stuff to stock their shelves with stuff that will actually last more than 5 seconds. I ended up buying two toys for my pooch - one was an identical replacement for one of her favorites - a teddy bear that is on her last leg after roughly a year. I did peek around even though I was not going to buy anything other than toys (although the discounted Christmas head-wear for dogs was tempting) and thought they did a great job for being a fraction of the size of a Petco or PetSmart in carrying what any loving pet owner could ever want. I found their prices to be really good, the service exceptional and the merchandise exactly what I wanted! They have brands and products that no other stores have. For that, I make the long drive. They also have a house brand that seems to be very quality and inexpensive. I like that they have a little of everything as far as treats, food, and supplies. The prices are what you would expect from a pet shop, and comparable to online(as far as food goes). The only thing missing is, i could use some help with some things. When faced with 2 aisles full of bones, I would like someone around, to give some suggestions or answer questions.
