It's a PetSmart. No surprises. Good selection of products, many of which you can't get anywhere else. Good location and ample, easy parking. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. betta fish are abused and neglected. I went today to get a betta fish. every single fish had some sort of sickness, most had torn and rotting fins, one had popeye and pretty much all of them are lethargic. I picked a male betta that has fin rot and was hoping to get some sort of discount. so I went up to the cashier and asked for a discount and they said if a fish is sick they have to put it to the side and not sell it, but all the fish on display are sick. I asked them what they are going to do about the fish I picked out and I told them I wanted to take him regardless because I have medicine I can treat him with and they just made me pay full price. I'm not complaining about the workers I'm complaining about the fact that all of those fish are sick and they are not doing a single thing about it because if they were they wouldn't be selling them. Not to mention how these fish are kept. bettas fish need a minimum of 5 gallons, a filter, heated water and good water quality. you can tell these fish don't have any of those things. petsmart needs to either stop selling these fish or actually take care of them. read more

This place is terrible if you care about your pets at all do not take them to this grooming salon. I took my dog here yesterday and when i came back to pick her up she was squinting and obviously in pain. I immediately went to the vet the day after because her eyes were pussing and bothering her. She now has an eye infection in both eyes and a corneal ulcer. I regret coming here so much and hope they don't injure anyone else's animals. avoid this place at all costs. read more

They take terrible care of their betta fish. They are left in tiny, dirty cups in their cold warehouse. These fish need warm water. We had two die on us in less than a week. The first died within minutes after taking it home. We told the store and they were helpful and replaced it for us. However, the second one we brought home was sick too. I called and told them and the employee told me, "Yeah, they're really fragile at this time of year. If you don't want it anymore you can bring it back and get a new one." --as if it's not a tiny little dependent creature and simply a decoration or something. When I arrived I was "greeted" by an apathetic staff member that asked if I had an appointment then just told me to wait outside. I did. 35 minutes later I was finally allowed to speak with someone. That staff member told me that I would be unable to bring him in for another week because of his vaccination schedule. I have no problem with them enforcing their company policy. I do have a problem with the two people that I spoke to for booking not knowing their policies and the total apathy of all but one staff member. Three stars for the one person that knew her job and seemed to mildly care that the others didn't. Overall just meh. read more

I do not recommend using the grooming salon at the Sandy location. I have been taking my dog for the last five years to PetSmart and I really like the canyon Rim location and the location on 300 W. and 2100 S. The staff at the Sandy location are very rude and unpleasant to customers. There were two other customers today that were not pleased as well saying that's same thing especially Karalyn, she was very rude to me and she was talking crap about the customer that she was helping before me after they left. I will never go back to that location. In fact I ended up leaving the salon and walking over to Banfield hospital inside the same store for a nail trim for my dog. I paid $26 at Banfield instead of $15 at the grooming salon and they were very nice. read more

I am heartbroken. I have a yorkie with a beautiful coat that I work to take good care of. Our usual groomer is not working due to COVID19 and so I took my dog to the Petsmart Salon. The grooming cost $95 and his hair is so unevenly butchered and super short. It is so bad he a has a super short tuft on the top left of his head, and a super long piece that falls between his eyes. All I keep telling myself is that it will grow. There is more, but I think that it explains the issue. I will try cutting his hair on my own before ever taking him here again. So incredibly heartbreaking. At least they did a good job with his nails. read more

I will say up front that generally, when it comes to pet store chains, I tend to be a fan of PetSmart over its competitors. That is for a number of reasons but mostly because of the many different services, amenities, and sheer amount and variety of stock they seem able to cram into one, sometimes fairly small, place. That's indeed the case here. While this location may be a smaller one when compared to the one I frequent most often, which offers pet boarding and veterinary care - and okay, I'll admit is conveniently(-ish) on the way to and from the airport - the lack of those don't take anything away from this location and there is still plenty going on here. This is certainly the largest pet store close to where I live, and for day to day things is really great and has all I generally need. For example, this is the closest pet store to me that has prescription pet foods, handy due to one of our fur balls being sick and needing special food purchasing every few weeks. Beyond that there's something for everyone regardless of your pet of choice be it cat, dog, fish, reptile, bird, rabbit, small mammal, amoeba, flu-virus, or Velociraptor - okay I got carried away with those last three. You get the idea, they will no doubt have it. I've often thought of PetSmart as the Costco of pet stores. In part that is due to its metal shelved and somewhat cold ambiance, but also due to its item sizes. Sure it's not quite as grand of a scale but anytime you walk in somewhere you feel you need a forklift to exit without a hernia - well I think you're with me now :) I won't deny that I did also try to add in a parody of the 12 days of Christmas here. However once I got down to milking cattle at 8 I soon quit and thought a different route would be better suited to ending this review. Be thankful, dear reader, you were spared from that :) But seriously if you don't come out with extra stuff, don't be surprised. Your pets will thank you for it regardless of what it might end up costing you. Overall I've had good service experiences in general at PetSmart and this location is not departure from that. read more

Stopped by this location less than an hour ago looking for a hair brush for my dogs and also wanted to see if this store had a better selection of warm winter dog clothing that the one that I frequent back at home. Unfortunately I did not see that much of a selection of winter gear for the dogs here, but I am guessing that dog owners may have already purchased them early since it does get pretty cold out here in Utah. This location is awful!!!! If I could rate 0, I would. I went into this location in order to get prescription science diet CD urinary and kidney care pate for my cat who is suffering from kidney disease. I've gone to this location before to get this food and had no problems. Tonight was a different story. I went to go check out and Employee by the name Victoria asked me for my prescription for the food, she did not ask in a nice tone or even look happy to be there. I told her nicely that we do not have a prescription and have not had any problems in the past when going there to get my cats food. I also explained to her what was going on with our situation, she just looked at me with a nasty look and said "no prescription, no food" followed by her asking me to leave the store since I kept asking why now. After I left this location, I called to find out the name of the person who had been so rude to me. Sarah who had answered the phone was unpleasant to work with as well. After I got off the phone call, I called my vet and explained what was going on. She kindly said she'd get a prescription ready but that I could come get some food for my car so that she could eat tonight. I will not be returning to this location in the future. The staff is awful, they don't give a crap about anything but their cell phones. Never again will I be made to feel helpless in this situation. So disgusted. read more

Petsmart was our first pet store in the current era of dog ownership. I remember walking the aisles and wondering about half the stuff in there--giddy with anticipation and totally overwhelmed by the abundance of K9 accessories. In retrospect, I can see the reason for my confusion. There's a ton of stuff here. Long aisles of different foods, toys, collars, treats, beds, kennels, and on and on. And that's just the dog section. They've got a whole area for birds, fish, cats, and small animals. Everything under the sun in its most basic, and one step beyond basic form. For the really crazy custom stuff you have to go online or on catalog to someone else. But honestly, if you're having a custom marble sculpture made of your parakeet, you're way beyond mainstream pet owner. If you're comparing Petsmart to its closest competitors, I'd say it has more of a warehousey feel to it. Higher shelves, some racking in the back. Still very retail but not as comfy cozy. To be clear, I don't always need comfy-cozy, especially when I'm chucking a 40 pound bag of brown chunks over my shoulder. A big plus to them for carrying our brand of dog food (Blue Buffalo) before it was as common as it is now. There are some natural and organic selections, but the bread and butter here is still big bags of middle of the line food. I'm just glad they have options. The Jane dog likes a trip here. Lots of smells, lots of other dogs. Sometimes they have adoption events so it's fun to take the pups for a spin. I wish I lived a little closer because I prefer this place to other chains in town, but when I'm in the area I like to stop by for a bag of treats. For the dog. Not for me. read more

Awful customer service. No one greeted me at all the entire time I shopped, nor was I thanked for my business when I checked out. I saw a bunch of managers sitting in the office on their phones. Pet care had a bunch of items that were out of stock (to the worker in pet care's credit, they were busy scrubbing a tank when I walked by....i think they were the only one working in the entire store). There was dog pee in the corners and on shelves, and I even saw some product with sticky dog pee splattered across the front. I would NEVER shop at this Petsmart again. As a company, the range of customer service that you receive from store to store is so ridiculous. You'd think that a big company that Petsmart would have great managers in ALL locations, but the Sandy Petsmart definitely fails in that respect. read more

There was one girl who looked stressed as several customers followed her around to get some assistance. If you love your dogs you will not take them to be groomed there. I dropped my Shepherd off to be groomed at 12:30 they said that she would be done in 2 to 3 hours went back four hours later still was not done the whole process took 5 1/2 hours. When I picked her up she was still wet they did not grind her nails or extract anal glands which I paid for. She was terrified and exhausted when I brought her home. This location is awful I went to return prescription dog food because my friend got veggie instead of chicken when she was watching my dog while I was out of town. Jenni is the worst cashier I've ever met she has no customer service skills at all. She told me to grab the kind I wanted, which is 10 steps away from the register so I thought she was processing my return. It took me 2 seconds to grab the new dog food but she started ringing somebody else up instead. Then she messed up that girls transaction and had to refund the whole thing. The girl in front of me said just ring her up she's been waiting and I can wait. I said yeah let's do that because I've got an appointment to be at. Jenni refuses to do that and made me wait. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager Daniel was just as incompetent and lacked customer service skills as well. These people clearly need to be on the short bus and not working in customer service because they are way too stupid to be handling money and dealing with customers. They don't know how to prioritize and treated me like shit when I said they had poor customer service. read more

I must say I have never ever been treated so badly by someone who is supposed to care so deeply about animals. They claimed that they love their animals there and that they appreciate our service. Well let me tell you about my experience at the Sandy Petsmart. I have been taking my German Shepherd there since he was a pup he is now seven years old, he was diagnosed with lupus about a year ago and has a horrible sore on his nose, I took him to get his toenails clipped and the girl that clipped his nails yanked him on the table he was nervous she didn't seem to care about that so she pulled his lead choking my dog to get him on the table, she started to cut his nails and she bumped his nose with her arm and I asked her to please be careful and she gave me the most disgusted look I wanted to take my dog right then and there but let her finish Clippinghis nails, she clipped each nail down to the quick were each nail bled ,she did not seem concerned at all and I asked her why she would do that and she said it happens sometimes. I will never take my best friend,my puppy, my love to another Petsmart as long as I live and I would advise anyone else who has an animal that they care for to do the same they are horrible, horrible people I would hate to see how they treat their own children!!!!!!! I came in and waited patiently for the lady getting a customer some fish to assist me. She took over 20 minutes getting 2 fish and then served three people who came in AFTER me even though she saw that I needed assitance. When she finally finished helping all of the other customers, there was no apology for the wait or serving the others before me. When I told her what I needed, I got a simple, "Nope, we are out of those." She didn't seem as if she cared at all. And again, no apology. The customer service here is awful. I have had my Yorkie groomed at this Petsmart on 3 separate occasions and my dog got a horrible rash every time. It caused him to rub his belly on the carpet until his belly was raw and bleeding. The cut was beautiful but the rash just isn't worth going back. I did let them know after the first time and they tried a different shampoo the next time. The third time they charged me extra to try another shampoo and when it happened again I decided to not put my dog through that again. read more

I had difficulty placing an order online. The website stated that items were in stock. However, upon checkout it came to light some items were not available. I had to call the store to speak to an employee in order to resolve issues with items indicated as out of stock. Additionally, when going to pick up the items, the sign stated that customers could check-in online using the PetSmart App. I sat for quite some time trying to navigate the app and follow the directions with no luck. Eventually, I had to call the posted number to let the store know I had arrived. When the employee came out with my items she said, "I guess you're making me do all the heavy lifting today." I wasn't sure if that was a serious remark or a joke. Then, I asked her about the directions on the sign about using the PetSmart App to sign in. She said, "Oh, that's brand new and it doesn't work yet. I haven't encountered anyone that has used that option." Why would a business advertise something that doesn't even work?
