I'm pretty disgusted by what my daughters and I saw at the Wasatch Reptile Expo today between an employee (black hair, bangs, eyebrow piercings) and a juvenile ball python. The idiot held him near his head, causing him to dangle. He tried to curl up and she pulled apart and then thought it would be funny to bend his spine the wrong direction!!!! Then this idiot thought it would be great to put him in her hands and then squeeze her palms shut (like a sandwich) ANIMAL CRUELTY! What the f***? If this is how they treat their animals in public I can only imagine what happens behind store doors! Natalie (store owner) what are you going to do about this? I'm not one to leave bad reviews eeeveerrr, I've tired this place over the last 4 months and decided I've seen enough this week. This is a long one. I own many snakes, geckos, and a tarantula, so I've been in here about 10 times and haven't had 1 realgood experience, I will say jordineia (?? She has colorful hair sorry if that's not her name) has been very knowledgeable and kind but the management is a joke. Tula is wearing lingerie everytime I come in which seems inappropriate considering how many children are in the store, and she's a minor. How is she a manager?? Watched her mishandle snakes, being way too aggressive. She also had a boy there who grabbed her a** Infront of the line of people waiting to be checked out ! they bad mouth their own employees INFRONT of customers, saying they don't care about an employees pronouns, calling them stupid, etc. Tula and Mercedes were talking about stealing from the store, not having to pay for animal supplies FOR YEARS. I was waiting to buy mice and overheard that. I honestly feel bad for the owner, no wonder it looks like they're going out of business. The owner Might be just as bad letting this go on. Do you not care about your business?? They were out of red light bulbs and Tula told me "the color doesn't matter, get a blue one" which is NOT TRUE! the color absolutely matters!! I i heard mercaseis call a customer fa*as* like she has room to say that? Onto why I feel obligated to write this review, the neglected animals. The geckos look extremely sick and have shed Arond fingers, the fish all have dirty overcrowded tanks, my sisters fish have all gotten ich bc of this. Most of the snakes have stuck shed and tiny necks from not eating or being sick. A lot of the reptile tanks are bone dry, with no water in their dish. They only give their bunnies hay for food, the green iguana has burn marks and the poor African spurred tortoise that wanders around is clearly neglected as well, he is covered in his own poop, with no enrichment. He just wanders around the store to be a trophy, but if you know anything about tortoises, you know that guy is unhappy and looks like he dosnt get any calcium based on how his shell and skin looks I have already reported the neglect, and I encourage you to do the same. These animals need a voice, considering the managers don't care. If they got new management, I would love to give it another try, I'm sure many others feel the same way. I want to support local, but this is a horrible place. You're better off going to pet smart. They treat their animals better and that says somethilng read more

Love this pet store! We recently got a puppy and have stopped by a few times to get things, they have always had things in stock. There's always a kind employee asking how they can help. It's a great pet store as far as selection and product. I go in every week to buy food and supplies for our wonderful animals, however their prices are often miss-marked and miss-leading. Half the time I pick something up it ends up being at least a few dollars more sometimes significantly more. You can't rely on their prices or MOST of their staff to know what they are talking about. They have mulitple times given us missinformation about an animal and/or product. If you know exactly what you want they are close to home and probably have it. But if you need indepth information or help you're better off to call the vet's office out here with questions or head into one of the m any knowledgable pet stores in Salt Lake. read more

Love this place. Not only is the staff knowledgeable but the selection is great. Prices are nearly on par with major retailers. My kids like coming here just because sometimes. It's a great little field trip. Road Block is the best! I love that they offer multiple choices in fresh (frozen) foods for multiple species too. read more
