So many better vets out there, go somewhere else but if you do come here absolutely do NOT schedule to be seen by the lady vet, Danielle Macdonald!! I have unfortunately seen her a handful of times but after today's visit, that will never happen again. Took my two pugs into get updated vaccines last week. The older pug was able to get his shots fine and I asked the vet tech about a new tumor on Ralph, and she said we'd ask the vet. But since my other pug needed a special pretreatment shot before his vaccines, we'd have to come back the following week. No problem, right? She said to make sure I ask the vet about Ralph's new tumor at that point. Next week comes and I take them both back in. Right after Reggie's exam(which was a joke in itself and lasted a whole 15seconds) I ask the vet about Ralph's new tumor and if I should be worried. She doesn't even bother to glance at it and says nonchalantly "we'll just cut it out next time he's sedated. Just watch it to see if it gets bigger" Well yeah it's gotten bigger which is why I'm asking, and since I was scheduling his Dental surgery as well I wanted to ask since he'd be anesthetized. She blows me off and says they'll get me a quote. Already annoyed at her lack of attention to this entire interaction, I waited for Reggie's shots for 30minutes.... Then the vet tech comes in and is going over the dental quotes and I mention the rumor that the vet said hey would just clip off. The te h then tells me it's going to add between 400-700$ to the quote. WTH! So I ask to be able to speak with and confirm with the vet that gave me 30seconds of time during the exam, Danielle MacDonald about the severity of this tumor. She comes back into the room after another 15minutes, herself seeming extremely annoyed for having to speak with me again, and immediately starts telling me she doesn't at the prices blah blah blah and I say that's fine, I'm just curious in if I need to worry about this or not since she really didn't bother to look at Ralph's tumor. She then looks at me with contempt and says yeah I didn't look cause you didn't pay for an exam for Ralph today. If you want to pay for one then I could. I was shocked and said I did pay for it for Ralph last week and you weren't here so they said to bring him today. I certainly oh DID pay for Reggie's exam and you didn't even look at him!? She smiled smugly and shrugged and walked out of the room. That was the end of my interaction with her. Shocking to have such little concern from someone who apparently cares about animals. Go see the other vet, Dr Edmonds. He has been fantastic and caring and willing to by to answer questions without haste when you are worried. The office manager, Niki also ignored me when I raised these concerns to her. Instead of trying to understand what actually occurred, she just pretended nothing happened and said don't come back. Terrible service from terrible people, they like to collect your money but treat you like crap if you aren't willing to shell out hundreds more for garbage service. Danielle MacDonald was terrible, uncaring and spiteful as was the office manager, Niki. I hope that no one has to deal with either when they have an urgent issue with their pet cause they'll make it much worse. read more

I went here with my kittens and long story short - the vet was very incompetent, leading to my cat possibly becoming deaf. I went to a new vet this week who explained that the previous vet messed up the ear cleaning work which caused a deep wax buildup against the eardrum that will probably have to be removed under anesthesia if the new meds fail to melt it. Overall, had a really bad experience. With two 4-month old kittens, for simple vaccinations, messed up ear cleaning work and examinations resulting in a parasite diagnosis I paid a little under $1000. It's beyond outrageous. Won't recommend it to anyone. Avoid this place if you can. read more

I have been a customer here for a long time, but not anymore after today. I have absolutely loved the vet here, and staff is usually so kind and helpful. I have sent them a ton of busines, and the way I was treated by the new woman on the phone and at the counter changed my mind about their service. I don't know what her power trip was about, and I'm sad to say that after over 10 years of doing business here I will never step foot in there again, nor will I send another person there again. I've taken my dogs to this clinic since before Dr Edmonds owned it. Dr Edmonds is great. Not impressed with Dr McDonald. I took my dog in because he was limping. Dr McDonald said he had a torn ligament. Took him in a few times. He was prescribed medication and they did do blood work to make sure the medication wasn't messing with his kidneys. I feel like she could have seen something in his blood work that indicated something. She wanted to get a sedated X-ray for close to $600 dollars, but she is sure its a torn ligament. (Why not try a regular xray first?) I pointed out the bulge on his hip (baseball sized) and she dismissed me saying it was the way he was standing. I actually scheduled surgery for the torn ligament, but it didn't feel right. I took my dog to another vet. She took an X-ray that day, took 10 minutes. That cost me 1/3 the cost of the sedated xray Dr McDonald wanted me to do. Turns out he didn't have a torn ligament. He had bone cancer. That explained the bulging hip. My dog has since passed over the rainbow bridge. I do have a new best friend but won't be taking him to this clinic. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience with this place. When I went to pick up my pup & pay I was asking questions & the person kept saying I don't know, I'm not sure. Can you please find out- Yeah I am not sure. The amount I was billed was incorrect, they lied to my face about being out of something for a few weeks when my other dog just received the item the evening prior. They just stood there looking at each other saying not sure. I finally was so frustrated after 20 mins I said can I please just get my pup so I can go. They brought my pup up to me & she was FREEZING, her body was so cold (she weighs 5lbs.) she had blood all over the side of her face & neck that was dried and her fur was matted down. They didn't even try cleaning her up- I have taken my pups here forever & never had this big of an issue or this horrible of experience. -gave my pup wrong injection & then she said because we are out of the other one & have been for a few weeks. Thats odd because my other pup got the injection last night when we were here & they told me this morning she would be getting same one. She just sat there looking at me & said sorry its out. -paid in full for injections for my other dog (who had appointment day before) & got quote for my other dog for the injection cost would be. -she said injections are $20/per shot. She said I must have been informed incorrectly & billed wrong. I said 3 people confirmed it was correct the day prior & the vet said its per weight. -every time i asked a question, does she have any stitches in her mouth, they said she had 4 teeth extracted & he said 3. He was reviewing paper with me showing what was done & I would point asking what this meant & he'd say I don't know. any stitches, i don't know. -had dried blood all over her neck & side of face. -she was freezing cold, so cold to the touch. 5lbs read more

So I've been meaning to write this review for a few months. I brought my 6-month-old Boxer there because I had the feeling his discs on his back looked wrong. I went in for his appointment which was with a lady vet (I don't remember her name) but she told me essentially he was fine and not to worry about anything... Fast forward 2 years later... I went to a different vet because he was not feeling well. I thought his sickness had to do with something he ingested, so they took X-rays. After the results came in it wasn't anything ingested but what they were more concerned with is that he had 3 diffused discs in his back and at his age of 2.5 years, it was the worst they had ever seen. My point in this review is please be more thorough, don't just dismiss a client because you feel you have more knowledge than she does about her own dog. read more

I was pretty happy with this Vet office until today. I like the doctor and I had respect for everyone there until today. When I picked up my puppy after being there all day getting IV fluids the girl with the british accent checked me out and I will never go back there again. She was so condescending and spoke to me like I was the dumbest person on the planet. She told me I "was going to make my dog sick again and cost me a lot of money which is good for their business so yes just go ahead and not buy our dog food" She also said "so your going to tell me your not going to do what the doctor who went to school and knows everything says to do?" All this due to my questions about the dog food and not wanting to buy a month of it. You can say good bye to a good customer due to the way this girl treated me today. I will never come back to your facility. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because one of the other employees have been very kind to me and my Lexi, also the doctor took good care of her. But I am too old and tried to be spoken to like this in a vet office by a person I do not even know and has less knowledge about the medical field than myself regardless of it being a person or an animal. Maybe she is just having an off day, maybe she just didn't like being questioned about the food but either way there was a huge lack of respect for customer care in regards to my interaction with this person. read more

I first met Paul when he joined the Sandy Chamber of Commerce in 2010. Great facility, great staff, compassionate care at a fair price. I don't know what else to add other than veterinary care isn't as inexpensive as it once seemed. I don't know that pet insurance helps all that much but keeping a dog healthy requires either luck or a lot of money when they get sick or injured! They are located just south of the credit union on 10600 South 1300 East. Not the easiest place to get in and out of but well worth the effort. I'm appalled at how this clinic has treated our dog since he was a puppy. The first red flag was when Dr McDonald told me I should not feed a fresh raw diet but kibble instead. Really?! She grossly over medicated my dog for a small skin wound when I told her not to. She lied to me about the side effects of PROHEART preaching it's safety after I specifically told her my dog was very sensitive to heartworm preventatives and sure enough he had a very bad reaction and even a seizure (sadly they will probably continue for several months now)! The FDA requires a consent form be given to the owner which she did not do and was not honest about the risks when I clearly wanted to know. Even the manufacturer of Proheart believes his seizure was due to Proheart but the clinic keeps saying it probably wasn't. Bloodwork also came back perfect. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOGS THIS DANGEROUS DRUG!!!!!!! The most disgusting part of it all was that she didn't even bother to call me back and discuss what was going on. This clinic treats your dog like it's just next in the assembly line- without any regard to their individual needs or health. Do NOT RECOMMEND!!!! I'll never forgive myself for trusting Dr MacDonald. read more

I just wanted to say how amazing the doctors and staff are here. We've had our dogs in many times for shots and grooming and this is the best staff I've ever had to deal with. We recently had to lay one of our best friends down after a long fight with cancer. It was a heartbreaking ordeal. Every member of the staff showed my family care concern and love. Dr Morrissey sat with us and even offered a small prayer for our baby after his passing. It's hard to find people with heart like this and I will forever be thankful to them for their compassion. These guys are the best. The staff all cares about your animals, and the drs are great. My dog recently had a blockage and was in pain. They x-ray him and we're able to clear the blockage without surgery. He stayed with them throughout the day and the took x-rays every couple of hours and reported back the progress. Every trip to the vet is expensive, but they seem to be a couple hundred less expensive based on other vet reviews that I have read. Overall very happy with them! read more

Terrible customer service, over priced and the vets are not engaging with people or your pets. I've had issues with getting my contact information post divorce updated for years. I've explained it in person, I've called over the phone and still nothing gets changed on my account. For reminder appoints they still call me ex so I've now moved on to a new vet practice. I've been left and forgotten on hold for 30 minutes and more and trying to get my vet records to transfer to my new vet has been a complete joke too. read more

When we realized our beloved cat was not receiving adequate nor compassionate care for his life threatening affliction from our primary vet we were panicked to find a vet that we could trust to keep our little guy alive & healthy. This clinic is THE BEST! I have a 16 year old mini-dachshund and a 9 year old golden retriever. Both of my pets have recently needed surgeries and both of them have been come through with flying colors. The vets bedside manner is absolutely outstanding. We have had previous vets who have treated us like experiments and then outrageously charged us for no results. Sandy Animal Clinic is not like that. Very warm, thorough and financially very reasonable. I do not have children so my pets ARE my kids. And these vets have been so understanding and nurturing to us and our pets. I definitely recommend! Paul is the best vet ever! He has gone above and beyond for our family's dog over the years and cares so much about all his patients. Our dog took a turn for the worse and he didn't even hesitate to meet us at the clinic on a Sunday with his amazing wife and made one of the hardest days in our lives bearable. They were so tender and patient as we went through the grieving process and Paul was so informative in offering solutions in the decision we had to make. Now at the corner of 10600S and 1300E, They have taken exceptional care of Sandy, Oliver, Ned and Ellie with Dr. Edmonds and his staff at his side. Kristie is the best! We've been taking our fur babies to her for several years and she does an outstanding job. We recently brought home a new puppies with some social anxiety (barking, nervous, loss of bladder control). He desperately needed to be groomed, but I was too afraid to take him in, partly for his sake and partly for the groomers. I finally gave in and took him to Kristie. She was patient with him, working in small periods of time throughout the day. He looks amazing, and by the time he left, he was a fan of hers. read more

This is a review of the GROOMING ONLY. I have not used the vet, boarding or sitting services here. If your dog does not require anything beyond a shave down, you are fine. We've taking our two bolognese to the groomers here about 4 or 5 times. The first time we went we were fine with the shaving, there were a few matted areas that needed to be removed since we had waited too long to have them groomed. After that we asked several times to have the hair cut, not shaved, in what is called a "puppy cut' and also do the nails, ears and potty path. When asking for their ears, I explained, they have extra hair in their ears and it needs to be removed or they develop problems. Every time we've gotten them back, their hair is shaved, their ears are cut short and the nails and potty path is fine. I really wanted it to work out because my girl has grooming anxiety and they seem to be really good with her, but the groomer has not once done as I asked or at least said they couldn't do it. So like I said, if all you need is a bath, shave and a brush, this is an ok place. For anything else, dont bother. read more

Doctor Edmonds is the best guy in the world he is such a amazing leader. He will do all is his power to work with you and your pets to get the best for both. I have never met a better guy then Paul. He will never do anything to make you feel unwelcome or uncomfertible. There is such a warm feeling and glow about him he is always cheerfull and always wanting to help. He has put together an amazing staff who get together like there all family , they are all top trained tecks and always do there best and wirk together. doctor Edmonds will stay late and talk with for hours about your pet and and any questions you might have, he will make sure you understand exactly what's going on. We will tell you the truth and tell you what he recommends and why he recommends it. He wants to get to know people and cares about there family. He will sit and talk to you about your family and see how there all doing and find ouy whats new in there lives. i highly recommend doctor Edmonds, as your vet and your friend. he will be a blessing.
