I really don't know where to start because I have a lot of good things to say about Calling All Dogs. We took our first puppy class with our 3 month old corgi. Each class includes a little bit of puppy playtime (usually at the beginning to get some of their energy out) followed by hands on training. You will learn skills in the class, but you have to practice then at home consistently if you want to be successful. They also give you handouts which are available online to reference. Our puppy still has a ways to go but he has learned a lot and so have we. They use positive reinforcement, no punishment, and they really help you to build a bond with your dog. Kelsey, the trainer, was amazing, as well as the rest of the staff assisting her. You can tell they all really love dogs and enjoy their job. I was a little nervous about trying to do a class during covid but it hasn't been an issue at all. The classroom is quite large and everyone wears masks and are more than 6 feet away. It's nice that they've taken more than the necessary precautions to make everyone feel safe. It was also nice to meet other puppies and puppy parents who are encountering the same difficulties you are. It's nice to know you're not alone! Having a puppy sometimes feels like having a newborn all over again and not knowing what the hell you're doing! :) They also offer puppy playtime sessions on Saturdays (I think on Sundays too sometimes). It's only $5 and a great way to socialize your puppy and wear them out. You get 3 free sessions when you sign up for a class and a few 1/2 off daycare dates with your class. There's also a retail store. They have treats, toys, food, harnesses, leashes, etc. In my opinion it's the best selection I've seen. Pet stores may carry more options, but these are more like "the best of the best" options. They seem very handpicked. Things that are really hard to find, you can find here. Our puppy loves the beef tendons, and they last him a long time unlike other treats/chews. They carry lots of other treats like cow ears, pork pizzles, beef tracheas, cow tails, bully sticks, etc. They will recommend products in class which I think is nice if you're a little lost, but never pushy about buying their products. I bought a snuffle mat from Amazon and that was a big mistake. He tore it up pretty easily, and just tipped it over to get all the food out, haha. So I was hesitant to try again, but calling all dogs make theirs in house so after "sampling" it in class, I thought it would be a good purchase. The fabric is much stronger and the mat is weighted so he can't pick it up. It's a great way to occupy him for a bit and calm him down. I'll definitely be back to buy more products/treats from them. I would highly highly recommend Calling All Dogs to anyone looking for puppy classes or even for their older dog. They offer some cool specialized classes like agility, scent work and tricks, which we plan on doing later. I haven't seen any other places with such a huge variety of classes. We started our puppy in Puppy Prep when he was 9 weeks old. Now he's almost 5 months old and recently started his second class, Wonder Pups. We look forward to enrolling our pup in agility training after he graduates Wonder Pups since he is such an athletic dog. All of the trainers and assistant trainers that we have met have been very nice and knowledgeable. Our puppy loves going to class, he especially loves the play times. Adopting a puppy is a challenging and exciting experience, and I'm so glad a friend recommended training classes at Calling All Dogs! Kelsea and her staff are amazing and they teach my pup and me how to work together and learn. We buy almost all of our puppy supplies here, too, including a huge variety of chews and the very best treats for training motivation. And thank goodness for their daycare program! My pup has been twice now and doesn't look back for me when I drop her off. She is so excited to see all of her friends (humans, too) and the staff to dog ratio is always 5:1 or better. There are always several employees in the rooms with the dogs, so they're under very close supervision when they play. This place is a dream. My 12-week old schnauzer mix Matilda was getting too smart for me, and though I tried to cobble together training tips I found online, there were some gaps and I had a lot of questions. I HIGHLY recommend their Puppy Camp if you have a new puppy. Brooke and her assistants were hands-on, endlessly patient, and loving to my little pup. I cannot believe how much she learned in only 4 days! She went from a shy girl who only had a vague grasp of "sit", to sitting on command 100% of the time, along with "down" and her recall "aqui"! She plays enthusiastically with other puppies 3x her size! They worked on "leave it", "drop it", handling, mat work, and walking on leash and she got so so much better at all of them. They expose the puppies to new surfaces, noises, and people -- including children. Brooke gave me great tips for helping Matilda like the bath, and how to work on her problem nipping. Every day you get a handout with a detailed write up of how your puppy did in all the various parts, along with fantastic instructions on what to do at home. Brooke also sends photos every day so you can see how cute your pup looked romping and learning and trying new things. I love their positive-reinforcement ONLY approach, and it works! Yesterday, Matilda and I had our 1st session of "Puppy Prep" with Jamie and Melissa and it was fantastic. Lots of practice, safe and hilarious supervised playtime, helpful detailed information, and a positive environment that my puppy just loves. I plan for us to do all 3 puppy-level courses and then go on to "prestigious pooch" classes. I feel so much more confident in my training, and the difference in Matilda's behavior is striking. Horrible customer service. I kept trying to support them as a local business, however after multiple events, I instead feel inclined to warn others. The website is difficult to navigate and their class schedules are not clearly posted. In addition, if you do find a class and sign up, the classes are always getting canceled or moved. Or they will let you sign up and pay for a class then tell you that actually there isn't room. On top of that, the last class I tried to take was moved and I found this out from a friend the day the class was supposed to take place, they didn't even bother to call me and inform me directly. Finally when I did call them to cancel the class and receive a refund, the employee felt the need to imply that I was a bad dog owner for not taking this class despite the fact that them moving it would result in the inability to attend several of the sessions. Please be aware of this if you do try to frequent this business. I will never be returning. read more

We were super hesitant on bringing our dog to the daycare. Not because of the place but because we have a big dog... I was worried he would be too big and too much of a handful, but boy were we wrong. We absolutely love the staff, our big baby is very attached to a few members of the staff members, especially one in particular and he's made some friends his size. Our baby comes home happy and worn out in the best kind of way. It's been so great for his socialization not only with other dogs but with new people. TL;DR If I could rate more than five stars I would! My review is going to be all over the place because I love Calling All Dogs so much. I'm so happy I stumbled upon Calling All Dogs! I have a four-month-old Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix named Mac. I kept my pup out of class for a couple weeks after picking him up from a farm because I wanted to make sure I found somewhere I could trust and believe in. I was emailing/calling multiple different facilities for two weeks. It was a priority of mine to train Mac without force or enticing fear and Calling All Dogs has shown me that is possible. With CAD's methodology, I can see results the same day we learn new behaviors! Mac and I have two more classes of Puppy Prep and I am about to sign him up for the next set. They also offer puppy playtime once a week if you are enrolled in one of their training classes. There are multiple trainers available to keep an eye on your dog's social behavior. They will inform you of the actions your dog does that could be the start of an unwanted behavior, and will help you to change that now. It has been a great resource to get some of Mac's energy out! Everyone that comes in contact with Mac since I have started bringing him to C.A.D. has commented on his (mostly) calm demeanor and great behavior. I only say mostly because Mac is very friendly and loves all humans and other pups! I believe once he has matured he will be a clam greeter and if not- I know Kelsey at C.A.D. will be able to change that! The ENTIRE staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I love calling to set Mac up for any of the services they provide because it is always a pleasant experience. I can bring Mac to work but have decided to take him to daycare a couple times a week - I can't bring him in enough! The staff at Calling All Dogs is EXTRAORDINARY. Our puppy has gone through two 6 week courses now and the training is useful and personalized. At most there has been 6 dogs total in our class and the trainers take one on one time with your dog in each session. Their training methods are positive reinforcement only and the results have proven effective and reliable in a number of different environments. They are the reason our puppy is well socialized, well behaved, and trained in a couple dozen solid commands at 6 months old. They have never once solicited a sale from their attached boutique but after a while we realized the quality and hand-picked nature of everything the boutique has to offer so naturally we started buying our dog related goods there. All in all very good. Did the 6 week puppy class. Two complaints : They are so quick to break up puppies playing I feel they don't have the opportunity to learn for themselves. I'm for Letting things escalate but I also feel they need to learn on their own. I get they have liability issues etc but everyone signs a waiver. Anyway 2. Had one make up class (different instructor) which was a waste in my opinion. The entire class was about food, toys, enrichment ... All very important. Also information that could've been handed out on a sheet of paper. We did really enjoy the once a week 30 minute play times that went with the puppy class. These are a huge help in socializing your pups. All in all I would recommended Calling All Dogs to anyone in the SLC area. Extremely poor customer service. Left numerous messages on multiple days asking for a call back and information on our training after I had to take my puppy to the emergency vet. Over a week now and no response. During one of the puppy play times my puppy was viciously attacked by a much larger dog as well, we left the puppy play early. read more

We have been bringing our lab Daphne to puppy prep classes and puppy play time. She has learned so much in the 5 classes she has been through. The trainers are very nice, as are the assistants. Daphne has learned to be a very polite puppy thanks to everything we have learned. I definitely recommend puppy training to anyone getting a new puppy. I also wanted to stress the fact that they have never tried selling items from the connecting store. Update...Daphne is now 6 and her training has more than paid off. She is such a polite dog and has been praised by vets, strangers and anyone that dog sits her. We continued to practice what we learned and have been able to give others tips to help train their dogs. My husband and I worked with Michelle Rizzi a year ago with our two boxer dogs, and recently took up her new "Feisty Fido" class for our female boxer that became dog aggressive this past year. The 100% love, attention and devotion Michelle, Nicole and Anna share towards our dogs, is nothing more than amazing to say the least! They teach through positive reinforcement by working to change our dog's behavior without harsh words or actions, but with Love and patience. The class is fun and we are learning new things each week. Michelle teaches ways of distraction with treats and fun games so our dogs can re-focus on us instead of other dogs around them. In turn making them less tense and teaching them to look at us for guidance and leadership. At the end of class we take 5 minutes with quiet soft music in the background and give our dogs a massage. My favorite part of the class! :) Michelle has an amazing way with dogs and mine are always happy to see her. She has my respect and admiration for the GOOD she is doing through her work and the LOVE she shows towards all dogs. She is more than unique. read more

I do not like their philosophy and they way they dealt with my high energy dog. She would bark a lot during play. The fact that they never correct dogs even verbally made for some pretty frustrating behaviors once I found trainers that actually knew what they were doing. While I was there I went with what they said because I thought they knew what they were talking about. They put her behind a gate and sometimes with blankets while other puppies played which actually just made her more reactive. They break up puppy play so quickly and by grabbing them so for a long time after going there if u had to grab my dogs collar she would become reactive. Maybe for some people this place worked but if you have a high energy dog or a dog that is not responding to positive ONLY techniques I definitely do NOT recommend this place! read more

I drove out to this place as I had been told they sell dog cakes/cupcakes. I even called ahead of time to make sure. When I got there the cakes were frozen which would have been a helpful tidbit of information to know before hand because the dogs cant eat it frozen. The girl running the register was nice, but new, which is prob how a $12 purchase ended up costing me $20. I should have been paying better attention to the total, but I was in a rush, and several of my questions couldn't get answered so I just paid and left. I cant speak for the training classes, only the retail boutique in the building, but I wont soon again be making a trip to the southern end of the valley for them. read more

My pup loves it there! It's one of the only places in the SL valley that has quality treats I feel comfortable giving my dog. We have left him several times for daycare and he loves going. I've had the recent pleasure of adding Anna and the bunch at Calling All Dogs to my top dawgs' list. My rescue pooch Major, who I've had since December, has had some private lessons as well as the group Charm school. I can tell you that he is a different dog. He was a hot, crazy mess! Although, he's signed up for the next session, he will be sure to be an angel soon enough. They are kind and practice positive reinforcement. I read many other reviews and didn't like the idea of yelling or shocking my already traumatized, who knows what he's been through, big fella. After getting our puppy, we registered Teddy to a Puppy Prep class because it's very important to train your dogs while they are young. Calling All Dogs are known to only use positive reinforcement in training puppies and adult dogs alike. By signing up for the Puppy Prep class, we were eligible to join puppy socialization time which is a great place to meet other puppies of similar size and learn to interact in a safe environment. The class is designed to mostly teach you to best train your dogs with positive reinforcements which is great for first time dog-owners like me. Our neighbor highly recommended this place when she learned we were getting an Aussie pup. We've taken her to a few classes of puppy prep and the puppy parties (which are free if you purchase the lessons). I am so impressed with the staff, especially our instructor- she is SO knowledgeable and has zero sympathy for these pups (in a good way!) She ensures a safe environment for learning, play, and socialization and is observant enough to point out what our pup's body language shows about her development and behavior. And as a new dog owner we've learned a lot, and in a lot of ways the classes are more for us then for the puppy! I would highly recommend to anyone with a new pup or just wanting to learn more about what they can do to facilitate their puppy's development. I haven't had quite the raving review of this place that it seems my fellow yelpers have. Let me give you a background. I have 2 fairly unique dogs. Not many people in Utah know much about the Rhodesian Ridgeback. Now this was the best (and closest) place in town to get Acana Dog food which is what my two prized pooches get. We took my first dog to the training classes that they offer. Seemed good and the basic stuff but after the trainer told us that our dog was going to be aggressive for the rest of his life we stopped going. You don't motivate people by insulting them. At least not us. We have adopted a positive reinforcement atmosphere in our home and it works wonders. That's when we brought home the second dog and life has been great. I also didn't like having to stand in line for 20 minutes while the cashier talked to the person in front of me about whatever personal drama was going on with their lives. Don't get me wrong I love personable cashiers but not when there is a line of people waiting to spend money in your store. Second item that was the icing on the cake was when the hubs put a special order in for a leather leash. We spent 2 weeks calling and coming in to find out what was going on with it only to find out at the end of the 2 week period they had just barely put the request in. 2 weeks are you serious? We stopped going after that. It wasn't for another week and a half that we finally got the call that the order had come in. We didn't respond and haven't been back since. read more

I would recommend that anyone seeking help with training a reactive dog from Calling All Dogs carefully consider other options. I chose to check into training here because of the positive reviews. I had a pre-evaluation with the Feisty Fido trainer for my sweet but very impulsive rescue dog to see whether a class or one-on-one sessions with a trainer would be an option for my dog based on her temperament. The trainer advised me that the class would be a good option after the assessment. However, I was asked not to bring my dog back after 2 of 6 sessions because she was disturbing the progress of the other dogs in the class with her barking. I was allowed to attend the classes without her and was offered a one-on-one session with the trainer but then was then told she was too reactive for one-on-one sessions at the facility. I was then offered additional in home sessions at additional cost. The potential for us to get kicked out of the class was never explained to me. As I had been following the rather complicated class lesson plans by myself at home and had seen no improvement in my dog's behavior, I decided not to spend more time and money without any benefit on this program. I then tried the class training techniques for several more weeks at home with my dog on my own with no improvement and a lot of guilt. The great news is that 3 months later I found another trainer who gave me all the help I needed to improve my dog's reactivity. I have now seen vast improvement in her behavior. Because of my experience, I suggest you do the same. read more
