This Fremont PetSmart is where I brought my dog in for grooming. This included bath, haircut, and nail trimming. I was concerned about not receiving a call after 4 1/2 hours, and decided to go to see what was taking so long. When I arrived, they said that he would be ready in five minutes. When they brought him out, two of his paws were bleeding. Apparently, the groomer cut his nails too short. They gave me styptic powder to stop the bleeding when I took him home. His bleeding did not stop for at least one hour. Needless to say, I was very unhappy, as well as the dog. While the staff was apologetic, they offered no compensation or consideration. I continue to be unhappy, and will have to decide whether to ever return. read more

The only pets I currently have are guppies in a 10 gallon tank. Well, I was down to only one guppy after the pandemic and was looking forward to getting some more. Thinking about adding a dwarf gourami as well, maybe some little shrimp if they have any. We came in, came over to the fish section, there was an employee there helping someone else. Once they were done putting the fish in bags they left with them and we never saw them again. We waited for about 20 minutes for someone to come back, all the while looking at the fish and noticing that there were quite a few dead fish or shrimp on the bottom of various tanks. Went looking around the store and the only employee we could find to help was at the cash register with a line five people long. Eventually ended up having to leave and drive over to Superway in Hayward, which had everything we needed and all of THEIR fish looked super healthy and clean and they had so much variety in such a tiny store. Quite a bit more expensive, but does it matter how cheap the fish are if you can't buy them? Bonus negative stars for when I was trying to buy a new aquarium stand a couple of months ago from Petsmart's website, and it listed it "available in store" but there was no way for me to buy it online (it said free shipping, but my address didn't qualify when I clicked on it, so I couldn't buy it) or even know what store it was available in. I ended up having to go to Petco's website for that purchase. I'm not ever going to try Petsmart again. read more

Waited over a month to get an appt. Finally on my way to the appointment which was at 1030am. I called at about 1037am to let them know I was running a few minutes late leaving work. Only 4min late, so just needed an extra 4 min to get there. The clerk Joseline told me it's a 10 min grace then you have to reschedule. I said can't you spare 4min I'm literally coming down the street. She said no and that I would have to reschedule--Next appointments aren't for another month bc of COVID!! How inconvenient to not accommodate 4 min so I don't have to wait another month for new puppy shots?!!?!! Ridiculous!! Asked to speak to a manager. Miraculously not there and I would have to leave a message. Where is the customer service?!! My other puppy has insurance through them and I will politely cancel based on this encounter. Very dissatisfied wit the customer service. Would NOT recommend just based on this experience. Called around to other vets and I will kindly take my business elsewhere. I stopped by with my mom to pick up outdoor flea spray. The store is very clean and organized. It was pretty empty though maybe only 2 other shoppers. Despite the store being empty, I somehow managed to loose my mom and was wandering around to find her. I could have just called, but thought this would have been an easy enough task. A worker came in clutch and pointed out that a woman was standing by the fishes! We got our item, check-out was smooth, and we were on our way. First location I had selected Daly City - I was informed that they did not have a cat groomer at this location. Okay cool. We have a new addition to our family! Petsmart is a good place to start for natural options for your puppy/dog. I love the ability to order and pay online and just show up for the pick-up. It only takes you 5 minutes or so. The staff is very knowledgeable and well-informed. There's a huge area for puppy classes and other classes offered. $119 for 6 classes if I recall correctly. There are some prerequisites such as age and vaccination, etc. This location also had a pet hospital and grooming service. There's an area for cat adoptions. On Fridays, there's a dog or two for adoption. The store cannot be more full service than that! read more

the negative reviews are accurate. I, myself, have experienced rude customer service here, mainly the grooming dept. I had booked quite an expensive package $73 for bath & their summer special. when i took my dog in they said my dog was showing signs of stress n told me they cant do the service. after a few mins of petting and warming my dog up they finally agreed to do it. they say it will take 2 hrs or so, but they didnt call me until 4 hrs later. when i went to pick up my dog she said they didnt have time to do the nail grinding & trimming. they were able to reduce my payment amount,but i still paid $25 for them to use a spritz spray, a cheap handerchief, a tiny treat & a coupon book that requires u to use more money with PetSmart. what a ripoff! one positive thing to say was they were gonna do complimentary nail trimming for me so I went on another day again, but guess what they say they cant do it because my dog showed aggression, but i noticed they didnt even put her up on the table and prop her head up like most professional groomers do. when i asked if they can give me a discount on something for my time and frustration, the manager gave me an attitude and was like no, youre not getting anything cause we didn't charge you. and she said she will red flag my dog. that's ridiculous because just yesterday after her bath the staff said my dog was super sweet. BTW what I paid includes teeth cleaning, but i checked my dog's teeth and still yellow and still had stinky breath. i dont even think they did anything! i dont trust they did ear cleaning either. i think the only thing they did was give them a bath that took 4 hrs!! ive never had bad experiences with pet express, much better service, but bit more expensive. Had to change my review. Costumer service is absolutely terrible! Dogs got sick off of "good treats" as I was told by an old co-worker and when I called to explain the situation the phone call was canceled as I was in the middle of talking to the manager, I was going to ask if there was a recall on treats but I didn't even get a chance to. Tried calling back multiple times but nothing. I've been using PetSmart for over 10 years but I don't think I will be returning. Lots of the employees aren't very friendly either. Lines have been as long as to the last aisle of the store and only one person at the register while 3 other employee's are standing around laughing. The grooming salon handles the dogs so rough is unacceptable! My little dog is now afraid of salons now. Employees give some much attitude as well. We asked for my pups tail to be shaved because he gets matted easily and the groomer said "are you sure, it won't look that good" but we said Yes. Plus he doesn't even look bad with a shaved tail since it matches the length of his body. Anyways when it came time for pick up we see his tail didn't get shaved. We asked for the tail to get done but one of the employees said he didn't need it! That was completely unacceptable! We asked for it due to matting and the groomer didn't do it cause she didn't like it???!! I don't think so! Lastly they are supposed to call when your pup is ready, but the last several times no one would call. I would have to call and someone would say "oh he was done awhile ago" Why did no one call me??? I've been going to this Petsmart for years but lately very disappointed with the availability of items in stock and it all came to a head yesterday. I placed an online order and when I tried to pick it up in the store they were having issues with their system and couldn't find the order. My partner picked up the order today but they had cancelled 3 out of the four items ordered and still charged me for the full amount. I received a call less than an hour after my dog's grooming appointment that the associate couldn't continue because my dog snipped at her. Well, I would snip at the groomer too if she didn't bother to brush or bathe me before taking clippers to my fur. This is my second visit to this location and both visits have been less than pleasurable. The first time I visited this location, my dog's haircut was uneven. The then manager spent an additional hour fixing the groomers mistakes and now this. If my desired location is busy then my dog will just have to stick it out. Got my shih-tzu groomed today. I told them 3/8" shave through out the body and for his face, shave his ears and do a puppy cut, so that his face looks rounder and poofy. His shave looks very uneven. When I got him, they shaved his snout to his chin about the same length as the rest of his body. I usually do his grooming, but since there's a wedding this weekend, I thought I'd give it a shot and have the professional do it. I handed my dog to Lindsey with all of these information. WORST PetSmart store in the bay area for grooming. Have tried many petsmart stores before for grooming and decided to give this one a try. I took appointment for grooming for my cat at 5pm. They told me if I don't hear back from them by 8:30 I should call them. I was surprised as to why a grooming would take 3 hours. Someone by named Kristina told me "it takes time to dry them". huh. I went back home, got a call from them at 7:15pm telling me they cannot go ahead with the grooming since the cat was not cooperating and was not coming out of the cage. I can understand that for safety if you don't want to groom a cat but keeping my cat for 2 hours in a cage and then calling me up and saying it cannot be done is not done. Of course if you keep a cat for 2 hours in an unknown place in a cage she wont be comfortable. I rushed to pick her up and raised a point of why I was not informed earlier. She said she had another cat's grooming done. So my cat had to wait. I was like wait I had an appointment at 5. Kristina replied "I take 3 appointments at once.". I would just like to tell in the most polite way that you cannot take 3 appointments at once when only 1 cat can be groomed at a time. If you have sense you can schedule 3 appointments with 1 hour slots between them... what a load of crap this place is.. Totally disappointed. read more

Took my sweet girl in today for her first time and was not pleased. Basically paid for them to give her a quick bath. Got the basic package since it was her first time but it said it included a bath, brush, nail trim, ear cleaning and anal gland expression. When i dropped her off they told me it would be about 2-3 hours, figured id go home instead of waiting only for them to call me about 45 min later saying she was ready for pickup. Weird but ok. Picked her up and she looked clean but didnt smell very clean. She mentioned her nails were already short enough so they didnt need to do them. I asked if they were able to do the anal gland expression cause she had been scooting a bit and girl just gave me the "um yea but nothing really came out." She wasnt fully dry and was shedding quite a bit which made me feel like they didnt spend any time to brush her. After getting home I realized i forgot to look at her ears before leaving the grooming. Looked the same as when i dropped her off. They didnt even give them a quick wipe! Super disappointed. I show up an hour later as requested and waited 20 minutes in line to be told they couldn't see me again. Brought our beautiful Pomeranian Sugar F. for grooming. The grooming was done on 9.15.18 by Kristina. Our Pomeranian was Shaved! This is a big NO NO for poms. They destroyed her double coat. They are not supposed to be shaved and any good groomer would know this. Now she has bald spots and not only does she look raggedy she is cold and shaking all the time. The double coat is how they protect themselves from temperature. If she was so matted and if it was something they could not work with they should have rejected service and we would have taken her elsewhere. She will never look the same and we have to take extra measures to keep her body temperature comfortable. Just got back from my grooming appointment for my cat with Kristina. My cat is about ten months old and lets me do his nails at home, so I didn't really want to take him to the groomer anyways because the majority of his cleaning I do without paying. I came in with a bath/groom appointment at 8am (walked in around 7:55) and Kristina was in the back. She said the return time for baths was 3-4 hours, but since I came from Walnut Creek I didn't want to have my cat's first grooming be that long, so I asked about other options. She told me about the ($30 more...) "waterless furminator package" (it's not on their app and counts as a walk-in) and suggested I do this rather than bill me for each thing I wanted done separately. Again, I only really wanted his "sanitary" areas cut/shaved because I can't really do that at home... this all went fine, their system is slow but I got a text ~30 minutes later that he was ready for pick up. Upon pick up, Kristina said he "seemed nervous" around the clippers they use to do the sanitary trim and so they didn't get to that. She showed me the spray she used to deter shedding and the brush. Again! The ONLY reason I went to petsmart was to get his bum trimmed because he keeps pooping on his fur and scaring himself! The only actual grooming he got was his nails (which were done nicely), the spray, and the brush. I get that I asked for a waterless thing, but I thought that if the clippers made him nervous they'd at /least/ trim his butt! It looks the exact same as when I brought him in. And to top it all off it was $30 MORE than had I opted for the bath. So the nails and brush, which are extremely easy to do, were done and not the one thing I really went in there for... Just a pain in the butt for me. Not sure about other grooming options for cats, definitely won't go in to petsmart though. No reason to. I know my cat is nervous around the clippers (the sound, the feeling, whatever), but she could've at least tried to cut/scissor his butt instead of just opting to do nothing (only the bare minimum, for $75). Kristina was customer service friendly, but unhelpful with the amount I paid... About to attempt to cut the fur off his butt right now because the person I paid to do it didn't... sigh. read more

A female dog groomer dragged my dog by the neck. And was extremely rude to me. She talked to me with a tone, as if I was stupid. She yelled at my dog and other dogs in the room. This review is for 7 month old Pitbull I scheduled for a 2 PM Bath with Sabrina O, Friday December 28th, 2018 at the San Leandro Location... I was originally looking to book it at the Fremont PetSmart location cause they always take care of him there.. But they were all booked... So I opted him in going to the San Leandro PetSmart since they had some same day appointment available. But oh boy I regret it big time... My cousin had to take him since I got caught up at work. When she went to go drop my dog off to the grooming salon, they weren't busy at all.. She checked him and they told her that it would be a 3-4 hour wait for him to be done from a bath... Which is weird, because I went to the Fremont PetSmart and they were extremely busy but they still got him in and out within 1 hour. Plus I was a walk-in.. I didn't even have an appointment.. They probably put him away in the cage for a few hours, which doesn't make any sense since I have an appointment. WHICH SHOULD BE prioritized. But I guess not.. I do notice that PetSmart in general does discriminate against Pitbulls since they can't socialize with other dogs during Doggy DayCamps which is another topic I can get into at a later time... Plus they clipped his nails, which I did not request.. Yeah I guess it's a plus since I didn't pay for it.. But they did such a crappy job, they only clipped 3 out 4 nails on each paw... So now I have to go to Fremont PetSmart to get his nails grinded to have it properly done... I never get his nails clipped.. Plus they way they were treating my dog, they were pretty much demoralizing, which isn't good for a 7 month old Pitbull at all... I regret booking his appointment at the San Leandro PetSmart. An employee was clearing the shopping carts and saw me there at least for 10 mins, just to say I had to go inside the store! WTF, what is the point of "curbside". I've been trying to book a grooming appointment online, but they're website and App are buggy. So today I gave the store a call to book, at 4PM. When I was transferred to the grooming salon, a very rude woman answered the phone. She was giving me a lot of attitude when I was just trying to get some information and book my appointment. She was impatient with me simply explaining that I wanted to bring my puppy in. She says, "what? Huh? Ugh.. HOLD ON!" And puts me on hold. Not sure what type of business they are running there, but I would never bring my dog in to such a rude and aggressive person. I immediately hung up. Do you see the Petsmart store hours? Those are the hours they open their store but it doesn't mean anything. I came last week to purchase some fish and after pressed the button calling for service they installed there I waited for more than 5 minutes. Then, I walked to the cashier and was told the fish section was closed. The fish section DOES have a different schedule than the store hours. To save your money and your time, please don't go to this Petsmart. Go to local fish store and if they open, you are being served unless they run out of the fish you want. That won't bother me much because you can talk to the store people and ask when the next delivery will be available. But the phrase PLEASE COME BACK LATER or TOMORROW is not acceptable because you are not GUARANTEED the store won't say the same thing to you as they might have said many times in the past. Don't have employees to work on fish section. Limit the working hours at the fish section like pharmacy inside Target or Walmart. This place could be pure gold, so close to BART and really convenient. Unfortunately this is not the case, there are always long lines and the chatty staff are not at all efficient. I tried to do a quick purchase on the way home from work last night around 6pm but saw the long line for one opened register and I turned around and walked out as I want to get home asap after work to take me dogs out. I returned an hour later only to find a longer line waiting for the same single register. Seriously, 5-7pm is probably your busiest time of the day. The staffer working the register announced at least four times over the pa to open another register. Nothing and by this time there were at least 20 paying customers lined up. Always there are pricing problems and discount discussions. The place is a not at all user friendly and forget about it if you're in a hurry. Just don't do it, you'll regret it. read more

Very disappointed in the grooming services I received for my husky. Got a bath & brush but seems like the groomer just bathed her and stuck her in the kennel dryer. I arrived to pick her up at the time told to me through the phone. She still seemed damp, dry to the touch but damp undercoat. Her nails were not trimmed, I asked for the dew claws trimmed. She was not brushed, had loose hairs all over her. She was definitely not force dried. Whether I get a deshedding service or not, she usually never comes home with loose hair flying off. Her groomer said she was mostly dried on the floor with a force dryer. It just doesn't match up with the results I received. I paid full price for a job barely half done. read more

I had an interesting experience at this Petsmart, Yesterday I went with my brother, aunt and cousin to purchase a hamster. Im over 18, but I asked her if she could take me to pick up more bedding for my hamsters I adopted about a month ago. Anyways I fell in love while looking at the hamsters with a long haired syran hamster and after getting permission from my mom (on the phone) My cousin who was with us went to track down someone while my aunt asked a cashier if we could have help at the hamster Isle. A lady came and went to get someone else who was in charge of the small animals So while I was waiting for 10-15 minutes, Yeah I know it felt like hours... I grabbed a shopping cart and put a 23lb bedding of care fresh in the cart along with some hamster chews and treats. So finally these 2 teenage girl workers came and asked me which hamster I wanted, everything was fine until I picked a fluffy longhaired hamster and signed the paperwork. When they were putting the hamster in the box, They didn't know how to do it Luckily another worker helping another customer with guinea pigs, Yeah the lady was really sharp, and did the box for the other girls. So then I got the hamster, While I waited for my hamster, I walked around and look at their other animals, they had tons of fish including goldfish, reptiles, mice, rats, guinea pigs and a chinchilla. Parakeets, finches and canaries as well as other types of birds too. Oh yeah and when I checked out and bought 4 items, a bag of treats, bag o chews, Carefresh bedding and my longhaired hamster the first lady who wandered out, came back and apologized for not helping me in the first place I do recommend this place for hamsters as it does seem in my case the hamsters are handled frequently Also they sell male hamsters, apparently all petsmarts now don't want to risk getting a female hamster pregnant so they just sell male hamsters now. I had a terrible experience with the grooming dept. I brought my golden retriever here since my normal groomer was closed. He ended up with a clipper burn on the underside of his tail that took more than a month to heal. He has never had anything like this before and has no skin problems. Required expensive vet visit and treatment. Initially I had wanted only a bath, nails and minimal trim of ears and feet. They said that would be a full haircut. I dropped him at 1pm and when I didn't hear back after several hours I called just before 5. They hadn't even done the trim yet! When I got there, they said they were still drying him. They cut his flair too short, poor trim of feet and ears didn't seem trimmed at all. And this was all way more expensive than previous groomers. I think they rushed and didn't know how to from a golden. Never again. Horrible. read more

Every single time I make an appointment they call and have to reschedule. Although sometimes they don't bother to call! I need to find a new groomer. They always tell me my groomer won't be in.
