This review is for the grooming service. Maybe bring your dog, definitely don't bring your cat. Made an appointment and came 10 minutes early. Didn't matter. They made me and two other car owners wait in a hot "lobby" for half an hour past our appointment time with dogs barking and howling right next door. Finally, the worker takes my stressed out cat and says she can only do a nail trim, not the dry grooming that I booked. Then she looks at my cat for 30 seconds and says she can't do the grooming today because she is "aggressive". I suggest drugging your cat with some anesthesia so they can "stay calm" in that circus. I went to get my dog groomed here for the first time because I was looking for a more affordable option than a mobile groomer, but I guess you get what you pay for. I opted for a bath and brush which includes the description says it includes a paw and pad trim. And by definition, that means they will cut the fur between his pads. I assume the workers did their job and I take my dog home. A few hours later, I notice my dogs feet which were absolutely not trimmed. I'm not sure what the point of paying for a service is when it's not completed. They were also supposed to do a sanitary trim which they clearly did not because the hair in the area was untouched. I will not be going back to this location and I will opt back into a mobile groomer who actually completes the job. read more

The cat room is like, really gross and it looks like the cats shared water hasn't been cleaned in weeks because the store is so understaffed. Petsmart needs to do better. This is for the Grooming Salon! Our previous groomer had become flaky so we were in the market for a new groomer. I am so surprised I had never thought about PetSmart just down the street from us.. I have a Japanese Akita and a Pug mix, and while my previous groomer's pricing was already competitive, PetSmart's prices are unbeatable. They even send you coupons sometimes. Since my dogs have been going here, they've been feeling so clean.. and are happy going into the appointment. They even give you a Pawgress Report! I see this Petsmart doesn't have a 5 star rating, but honestly for me and my new puppy Remy, each time we've been to Petsmart which is a total of 5 times within the last week and a half lololol, the staff has been very helpful, supportive and friendly. I was really stressed out on Dec. 30 bc Remy had an issue and I was calling vets without any leads and the vet inside this Petsmart, banfield, had an opening and was able to provide quality veterinary service to help me and Remy. They helped me understand how to take care of a new puppy and explained their vet offerings. It's honestly a great way to get started with a new puppy so I'm grateful. I came in a few more times needing a crate and other things for Remy, and each time I met a new person thought worked there, they were helpful and friendly. Remy and I live close by so it's very convenient for us and even better that everyone treats us nicely and helps us when we need things. Remy has a few upcoming vet appointments so I'll be sure to update this review as we continue our journey. But so far, so good. read more

How are we doing dog owners? This is a review for Petsmart in San Leandro. Let me start by saying Petsmart got good products. You cannot go wrong with the selection in the products where some of the issues start with the delivery system so I done since I used to pay them good tips and they used to screw up a lot, so now what I do is, I don't leave you the tip until you get to the door. If my order is correct you'll get handsome tip. If you screwed up my order, you will not get a tip. My order is late. You do not get a tip because you know how they put you when you first ordered the drivers usually changed Because they're running late they got other things so you change the time limit on me when you get here you're not getting tip. The driveway it was on my order today kept changing the time limit so I didn't give her a tip when she got here but as far as Petsmart products are excellent they're helping me raise my puppy. read more

Terrible service , we brought our poodle today in for a full service or nail trim, haircut , etc . They took 3 hours; when we came in ; our surprise was he didn't get a haircut ; the staff said he didn't let them cut his hair ; although our baby is only 6 months old . They said he was aggressive ? They charged us $60 for a nail trim & bath . Ridiculous . The purpose of all this was to get his hair trimmed , he needs a haircut . And there have been some cleanliness issues at this location as well. The staff for the most part are friendly and helpful. I'm late for writing this review but around a year ago I recently adopted a cat. While I was driving in the car, the cat hid behind my dashboard and got stuck. I tried to get him out for hours and every time I would reach for him, he got more stuck. He was terrified! I did not know what to do than to get help from people that possibly work with animals. I arrived at this store and explained my situation to the workers. Two of them came to my car and I'M SO THANKFUL they got my cat out! I then bought a new cage and a they even gave my cat a new toy. This is in regards to an unfortunate experience we had last month here with Sophina, the salon manager. We had taken our husky to this location multiple times, and were usually pleased with the end result. Although staff would promise our dog would be finished in 2-3 hours, there were several occasions where our dog would be there for upwards of 5 hours, with no explanation. While this was a nuisance to us and most likely very stressful to our dog, we never complained about it because we understand that schedules tend to run behind. We did make it a point to always ask the groomers about how he was, and the response was consistently that our dog did well and there were no complaints reported at any visit. We dropped off our husky at the scheduled time, and it was at that moment I realized why our assigned groomer had called beforehand -- she didn't seem comfortable grooming our dog, perhaps because of his size. We were greeted by the salon manager who was not at all welcoming and seemed annoyed our dog had barked upon entering the shop. Approximately an hour and a half later, we received a call from our groomer who said that she was not able to fully brush our dog because he appeared uncomfortable and was howling and barking. As a husky owner, this seems like fairly normal behavior for the breed in general, but recalling how uncomfortable the groomer was initially, I was fine with it and asked if the pricing could be adjusted because the service was not completed as intended. She said her manager would call back. The problem was not the groomer, but Sophina, who called us with an attitude and changed the groomer's story -- now stating that brushing was indeed completed but not "as well as she would have liked". But they would give us a 5% discount, and that they would not be taking our dog for brushing any more seemingly because we asked for a discount for them not being able to complete the service they promised. I asked why, she said that he doesn't like to be brushed. When I stated that this was the first time anyone's said anything about this problem after our dog has been here several times. She said that she "thinks that we've been told that before." I responded saying "we never have been told that" and asked if that was in her notes. She replied "it is now." When we went to go pick up our dog, we weren't planning on bringing this up, even though we were very upset with the service, treatment, and attitude we were receiving from Sophina. Our groomer was checking us out, and said "I guess he was having a bad day or something," to which we replied "well, the interesting thing is that we were never told this before, so we're just surprised at the reaction of your boss who is abruptly stopping all brushing from now on." At that point, Sophina, who had apparently been listening to our interaction, came out from the back and said "we've told you that before, so we're not going to be brushing your dog no more." We reiterated we had never been told that before, and we asked to see that in their notes. She pulled up the screen immediately and pointed. I then asked "what date was that entered?" She said "there's no date." I laughed and said "so this was entered today and these are your notes?" And at that point Sophina got upset, stating that if a dog barked she wouldn't groom it. Yet all dogs, especially huskies, bark. She said that she would remember a dog like him if she had brushed him before. This was not true because we looked back at the history, and Sophina was actually one of the groomers for our dog. She had at least one opportunity before to give us feedback supposedly that our dog is always bad, but instead told us that he was good during his bath that day because we've had nothing but good reports with him. We believe she only spoke poorly about our dog because we asked questions that she could not answer and instead chose to lie about. When we confronted her about her lies, she doubled down exaggerating more that our dog was worse than he actually was that day or in the past. It's unfortunate that Sophina is in charge of the grooming salon. She doesn't seem to de-escalate issues with customers, in fact, in this case she continued to exaggerate issues with our dog and gave us such a horrible attitude. This isn't a great characteristic for a customer-facing role. A quick search in Yelp reveals quite a few unhappy customers (a few of them husky owners as well). If I were to guess, it seems there isn't a capacity or desire to groom larger dog breeds. At the end of the day I (and probably all other large dog breed owners) would love to be told that upfront, than to be treated like second-class customers or having their dog blamed for the inadequacies of the grooming salon and the salon manager and her inability to serve customers and their dogs with respect and honesty. We escalated this to customer service and received no apology. read more

I have a beautiful mini Schnauzer who HAD a beautiful skirt. The person who groomed him today did a butcher job and ignored me when I came to pick up my fur baby. I was assured that a seasoned groomer would be right by his side while he groomed my Schnauzer. Clearly he didn't wait for the seasoned groomer. One side is butchered and one side is perfect. I tried to get a really close look at the damage and my dog won't let me touch that side of him. I should have left him looking like a giant fluff of hair. I then purchased a lot of pet food, paid and started to push the cart away when the young cashier alerted me that the 4 cases of cat food I purchased were still next to her. This location needs a serious training in basic customer service 101! We arrived early for our fur baby appointment and one tech immediately grabbed the phone and began talking to another customer, the guy approached us asking what time our appointment was and the manager, Sophina immediately responded with we were too early and needed to leave and come back. Additionally, they weren't event sure the tech our did baby was assigned to was coming in. I began to explain why I was there so early due to matting and Sophina declined service. Had not even touched the puppy and advised "due to health and safety reasons" they would not perform the grooming. Asked for the manager and got the "I am the manager" response with the recommendation of going to Banfield for a medical grooming. Went to Banfield and they were so sweet! Unlike Sophina, and advised me to share my experience with the store manager. Which turned out to be a complete waste of time! He ultimately came out to talk to me after being called twice, as he was in the grooming salon speaking with Sophina about us. While speaking with him the salon cancels our appointment and he reiterated health and safety concerns as why they denied services. We left, feeling very confused and disappointed by the way we were treated. Long story short, our fur baby was serviced at the Concord location where we were greeted with smiles, they touched and checked our puppy to make recommendations and provide an time estimate of services. Needless to say that's where we will be going moving forward. I tried calling to speak to the store manager before calling corporate but that was a bust! In fact, he just now TODAY, returned my call after this incident was escalated to their corporate offices. The call was pointless as he was extremely Unprofessional, over-talked me and ultimately hung up in my face. So another call to corporate was made as I am really done with bully's and people who lack accountability for themselves and staff in customer service. I don't know where the people are that were there before but the staff there now needs a hard reset and a hug or something as NOBODY deserves to be treated this way! read more

Be careful when signing up for training lessons. The dog trainers have no idea what they are doing. They are basically reading off a prepared script and are not able to provide any insight in dog training or any behavioral issues. Even for basic focus or sitting commands, all the trainer does is tell other dog owners to read the provided pamphlet. The trainer allows all the dogs to run around with no structure nor properly explain the processes to the other dog lesson attendees. All the trainer wants to do is quickly end the class with minimal effort so they can get on with their own day. You get what you pay for, one might as well train at your own time or spend a little bit more for a non-petsmart trainer. It'll save you time and money. read more

Wow, this is bad service here at this location. I booked my appointment for my dog for 03/5/23 at 2:30 pm. I arrived at 1:45 pm coming from Richmond, Ca to update my dogs records and share what needs to be done for her dog service. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by another yorkie owner that JUST dropped off her animal, when I went in I was declined service because my appointment was at 2:30 pm where I would need to come back at this time (what!?) on top of this, when my dog and I came inside there was no acknowledgment of us being there until I was about to walk out. I asked to cancel because I was not going to leave and then come back, so I canceled my appointment and gave a call to the number to speak to the supervisor. I don't want to mix up their names so I'm not going to share it. The supervisor is what gave it a star for my review today she answered the phone in a loud place (oh you can't hear me, now place me on hold to have me explain everything over) okay... This is why there is a positive review: Once I shared my frustration she took the time to place me on hold, speak to her two staff members and let me know she apologize about the confusion. She then offered to book me tomorrow (Monday) where I am not coming back here from Richmond to be early where I was penalize or if I'm late be penalize again, so I respectfully declined. I appreciate her taking the time to understand the problem but it would have been best to get me in today like I booked and explained why she couldn't take my dog when I booked. Everyone's reviews about Customer Service at this location are soooo true! This review is going to be about a couple of back-to-back incidents that happened yesterday and today! Yesterday, I went here with my boyfriend to upgrade our fish tank and wanted to buy another Plecos. As we were waiting and looking at other fishes; these two ladies who were next to us, were looking at the Plecos also. One of the ladies told the BLUE hair employee what she wanted ... this bishhh goes "NOOO!" and one of the ladies goes "why not?" And she goes "they grow to be bigger than 6inches! What size is your tank?" First of all, nobody asked for your fucking opinion, especially if you are "pet care specialist!" The BLUE hair female came at that customer wrong and turned me off from getting a fish from this place but this place is convenient for me since it's the only Petsmart near me! Now, what happened with today's incident was with another employee, brown hair & short height female. My sister did the talking this time because I just didn't want to deal with another rude female employee here. My sister asked for ONE African Cichlid fish and snails .... AGAIN, with the "what size is your fish tank?" question, the employee carried on emphasizing her opinion about the Cichlid that my sister was wanting ... of that fish not being right for her! My sister cut her off and said "I don't care, I still want it". HEY PETSMART .... If you truly think, that approaching people that way, and expressing "unasked for" opinions ... then you got your whole customer service approach wrong!! What makes these two female employees know better, as if they knew any better than us ... just because you work at a pet store? Erica is AWESOME. 5 stars for her for sure. This review is regarding their COVID-19 curbside pickup for grooming process. It took 3 months to get the freaking appointment. I got there 5 minutes early for my 0900 appointment. I pulled up to the front red curb in front of the grooming door. I called. The lady I spoke to said wait and someone will set up a table outside and get me to shortly. I watched three people get served that were standing in line plus the line kept growing. I called back. This time they told me they had to service everyone in line first. That gave me a WTF moment. I will literally sit forever if I have to wait for everyone that gets in line first to be serviced. The lady on the phone and I agreed I should park and get in line. It was a little annoying but I wanted to move forward. It's 9:20 now. While I am in line I am bonding with fellow dog owners (6ft distance of course). Apparently, I was not the only one suffering this poor curbside pickup process. An employee came out and asked if we all had appointments. I told them I was here for curbside but no one was checking that in. This lady told me there were no cars ready for curbside and she's been here all morning. I've been lied to before as everyone in the world had but she irked me. I literately sat out there in my car for like 25 minutes. I told her I was in my car but I got out because no one was doing the curbside. We went back and forth for a little but I let it go. I felt sorry for the lady in front of me because that employee was going to help her. They started going at it about her dog. She must have been having a bad day. I couldn't pay online either. Walked into PerSmart, the same one I've been going to for the last 20 years, and had to use the restroom. I found an employee at the register and asked for the code for the restroom. The clerk at the register immediately said the restrooms were closed for maintenance, no signs or anything else that would indicate that was the case. Figured I grab my items and leave. Found another employee and asked for the code and without hesitation provided the code. He didn't even mention that the bathrooms may be closed for maintenance. So this leads me to believe I was either just lied to because somebody didn't want to either give the code or open the door, or maybe it was closed for maintenance some point but it wasn't relayed that they were now open. Hate to be a negative person but I'm going with I was lied to because somebody was being lazy. Just sucks to see people providing a service being lazy. read more

It was the worst experience ever. By the Manager from Petsmart and the Manager from the groomers they treat me like a criminal. I took my dog Skally his eight years old Pomeranian to get groom the very first time I had taken him a few years back they shave him all the way to the bottom without calling me and letting me know it took him about 2 1/2 for his hair to grow back. I was told that I can report them for what they did to Skally. But I didn't because at the time I did not know he was going to take him that long for his hair to grow back. When I was there yesterday I dropped him off I was ask if he had his rabies shots I say yes and I went to pick up the paperwork next-door to his vet clinic. I gave the paperwork to them and the only thing that they checked he was his rabies shot. I left I got a call back and they told me that my dog had a mark dark mark on his chest. Take a picture I'll see it when I get there. When I did I went to bed and they told me that they did blood drawn or him and that's why he had the browse. So before I go and tell them I went to get some food Color and leash. And then both of them from the grooming and the pet store approach to me and said we are you are prohibited with your dog to come to the Grooming Store no more. Because you felt and you lied to us to tell us that your dog had vaccines. And when your dog have vaccines they cannot be seen the same day. I told I told her gave the paperwork to the person that the vet gave me I show it to her and then she said yeah he had two shots but we only look if you only had the rabies shots I was never told before dad the dogs cannot be seen after they have a shot so again it was not my first time it was actually my second time taking a risk that was not my dog again to help me show me different sizes of hair my dog looks beautiful but Service after that it was hell again I feel like a criminal the way that to me and talk to me they were so freaking rude and they were so upset with the lady that help me which I do not believe she had nothing to do what happened or maybe she did by the questions but anyways I do not recommend this place at all please do not go there I'll put pictures of the person read more

Oh my gosh! We love Petsmart. We go to the Apple Valley Petsmart in the Jess Ranch Marketplace on Bear Valley Rd. & Apple Valley Rd. We buy all our doggie supplies here, we have take our pup to doggie training (we love you Sue !) we go about once a month for grooming (buy 9 deluxe and get 3 free). We also have a monthly program with Banfield Vet Hospital (we love you Dr. Barnes !)...so you can see we love Petsmart. We had an appointment for our Husky to get groomed at 330pm today, dropped her off and was told we would get a call in 2-2 1/2 hours to pick her up. What was the point of making an appointment if it's going to take that long to wash and comb our dog?? Little over 2 hours go by and my husband calls to check in and see if we can pick her up. The person on the phone put us on hold to check with the groomer, when she got the update she said HE should be ready in 30 minutes and will give us a call. Our dog is a GIRL, so already hearing miss communication from petsmart groomers. An hour goes by and we STILL have not heard from them. So my husband goes to get her and when he gets back home with HER he tells me that it was very awkward and silent situation getting our GIRL Zee. No information or feedback of how it went was relayed to him. My husband just was given a bill and told to go pay at the register. This is hands down the worse experience I've had at a Petsmart grooming salon. After waiting a month and a half to get service. I let them know my dog has issues because of arthritis. I was told he could not stand and that he laid down with his front legs splayed out. Even then the cut they did on him, what they said they could do was is so uneven it is as if a toddler took some clippers to him!!! On top of that he wasn't even washed! I told Erica about the place on his left shoulder, she told me if it does not wash out that she will cut around it. So I am thinking they would bathe him first, dry him and then cut him, they had not even bathe him before they started cutting him so the spot on his side was not even touched!!!! I kinda knew something was up when I was told upon arrival that it's gonna take longer because they were overbooked!!! How in the &$;/ you gonna be overbooked when I booked this a month and a half out. You hit me with that statement. I knew then it would be a bad experience! You just don't tell a customer that!!! Lately I've noticed within my friends there has been more pet adoptions. What a blessing that came out from this pandemic. Fur babies finding homes. Never had a bad experience at this location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The store does need a new supply of dog leashes and collars not much of a selection. Overall, can't be mad at a place that supplies for the fur babies. read more
