View of the laceration on my dog.
    Mike L.

READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING GROOMING HERE Without exaggerating, you place your dog at risk of needing an urgent visit to a vet if you groom here. I am a physician who routinely performs outpatient surgery, and the injury left on my dog is nothing short of negligence. If you reference the picture below, then you will see an approximately 2cm, full thickness, skin laceration to his mid abdomen, exposing the muscle fascia that covers his abdominal muscles. I was told this was created by a "blade" used during their grooming process. I do not say this lightly, the kind of rushing, corner cutting, and/or poor training responsible for this kind of injury creates the kind of conditions that put your dog at risk for having the fatal outcome most of us fear and have head about on social media--the one where they jump off the grooming table and are choked from the collar. I would need to see some kind of official response or change to ever go near this establishment again. They are paying for the vet bill and didn't charge for the grooming fee but you can probably imagine that's cold comfort. Medical concerns aside, the haircut is terrible. You can also reference the pictures and see that they basically set a cutter to a certain length and just ran the length of my dog with it (incompletely I might add). They also did so for my OTHER dog who was there getting groomed as well, in case you were wondering if they stopped early with only my injured dog because of the accident. I think I've said enough. Be careful with this place.

Vienna has grown up going to this PetsMart. Always an amazing experience with the training crew. We LOVE Dr. Tinc who visits every Saturday with ShotVet. Truly, we trust him more than anybody at local clinics right now. And now we have tried Grooming with PetsMart for the first time today. She was not scared when they were finished and she looked & smelled amazing. We did the Bathe and Brush, and the Luxury add-on package with the HEMPZ soap. Really happy with the service and will 100% be back!

Took my pug/poodle mix for a haircut and nail trim. They were so kind and great at communicating what the various services were since it was our first visit. Definitely scheduling with them in the future!

This is for the grooming department! Jaime was my baby's groomer for today and I was more than happy with his attitude, heart and passion for his job with my puppy! Barkley was so happy with drop off and pickup today for his bath! His first time here and it won't be his last! Ask for Jaime!

Worst examples of carelessness & animal abuse I've ever witnessed in a pet store. Not simply dying fish, but MOUNDS of dead fish, dirty tanks, multiple fish stuck in filters. Don't buy fish here. If they're not dead, they're surely sick and will die shortly after arriving to their new home.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Selection is like any other store I have been to. I wish they had a Banfield but I get it.

I especially loved how the staff were patient with my excessive Q&A prior to bringing, Sir Winston in . With Winston, our experience has been staff making the mistake of assuming he is either a Siberian husky, therefore the mishandling or fear from his size begins. Planet Pet Spa, had him scheduled first thing in the morning, so he would experience minimal activity to ensure he could ease into his FIRST experience. My main focus was to have Sir Winston, deshedded, shampooed and dried. Not much, but with a 120 lb who can be reactive, I had anticipated this to be challenging. My biggest concern was the staff being able to handle my him when he didn't want to move (as he generally will sit down in protest if he doesn't want to go). Our groomer, Nazarene, at drop off was not even fazed by Winston's size. Which only reassured me that I had placed Winston in good hands. Upon picking Winston up, he was in good spirits and seemed to have had a good experience. I struggled with looking for a big dog groomer, and I'm so thankful that we found Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene. I highly recommend Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene, if you have a giant breed. She didn't even flinch at his size. I left their feeling they do care about my concerns as well as the experience of my dog..

The facility is always beautiful and clean, which I really appreciate. Cooper has high anxiety because of a bad experience with a previous groomer at Petco, but Ariel has been AMAZING with him. He actually gets excited to go now, and that says everything.

I took my new puppy twice and I was not satisfied with the cut. Instead of discussing cuts that may be better for the dog she just decided to remove me from the client list. Have been taking our little Yorkie for grooming for approximately 4 visits. First visit seemed to…read morego fine, staff helpful and listened to our concerns about being kind & gentle during grooming, since he loves bath time and especially drying off with warm blow dryer. A little background: In the past, with a previous groomer & different doggie, the groomer had cut his nails too short, and nicked him, and from there on he didn't like having his feet/paws handled. So we are more observant now. Back to this situation: The third visit, I did have a slight concern because he now was very scared going into the building and trembled relentlessly, but I chalked it up to him not used to being away from us, I had noticed a slight area that he was licking on his paws that looked a bit raw, but thought it may have been just something that had irritated him like a spur or something, but it occurred after a grooming visit and they had trimmed his fur around all paws...But he behaved the same way during this last visit, on Friday, May 19. Again I shared the same concerns and asked them to be gentle, etc... Typically he is extremely excited and overjoyed when we arrive, even after a five minute trip outdoors, this had been about 3.5 hours later and this time he was very quiet. In the past, a staff member, have typically come and brought him to us and had us look him over and point out various little things they did, but this time, when released from cage, he came to us without any assistance & we opened the door to get him. When we got home, we noticed that he had been continuously licking his groin area. My daughter was the one who turned him over and noticed he had been scratched/cut on his penis area. It was red and appeared irritated, there was a small little yellowish blister that looked to be forming. We began applying some wound spray and put him in a cone of shame, as it healed. Long story short, we won't be returning and I hesitated to post, but I know that others who love their furry friends/babies as much as we do and are always worried about taking them and leaving them somewhere should know, so to make best decision for themselves. I understand that things happen but for a business, dealing with people or animals, extra care should be given. Whether with better spacing of appointments, or additional staff, but in general with being gentle, especially when grooming sensitive areas. Photos may be a little graphic.
