    Holly on "place"

Andy has done a great job with our Holly. She is a nervous dog and always will be, but Andy has trained US as well as Holly on how to overcome some of her fears. She is listening much better and I feel with the addition classes he offers at home Holly and her family (us) will continue to grow and learn. Andy has been very patient with us and non judgmental. He has a great way of teach you so you don't feel attacked (so to speak) on what you "thought" you knew about your fur baby. He is currently working with our other baby Rocco! We can't wait to get Rocco back and we look forward to our continued training with Andy!

Without a doubt this trainer is perfection! My Frenchie was a royal pain and Andy performed miracles with him. He is now more than manageable on the leash and staying put. Plus he even came back with a leaner, healthier figure. About to schedule my follow up class that comes with the in-boarding training package (which is a total bonus!)

I missed her while she was gone, but look how much fun she had!

I wanted to let some time pass before I wrote this long review so that we could see how our puppy Lucy did at home in the "real world" and how our included follow up trainings would go. I'm here to tell you that my husband and I couldn't be happier with the wonderful experience and results we have had at Wet Nose Training. We paid for the 3-week training and I'm really glad we did. Yes, it an investment to properly and thoroughly train your dog but when you think of having a well-behaved dog for the next 16-18 years, it is a sound investment. Also, this is one of those times you get what you pay for. Let me tell you, I did not see how I was going to be without my baby for 3 weeks. I kept reminding myself that we were doing this for her good so that one day she could be an off-leash dog on hikes and playing disc golf. A well-behaved dog has so many more opportunities: she can go to restaurants that allow dogs, she's welcome at other people's homes, I can trust her near children, the elderly, and other dogs. It is my saddest regret that my old dog was never trained and was poorly socialized. It has limited his life so much. Lucy got to go to Rudy's the day we picked her up! Andy is very transparent in letting you check out the environment. There is an inside work area (as well as an inside kennel room), but plenty of stimulating outdoor area for your dog to learn and practice, all surrounded by sturdy iron fencing. Once I saw the environment Lucy would be in I knew she would be safe. They only work together dogs that will be safe to work together so that your dog can develop his/her personality and confidence. I've attached pictures of our Lucy playing with a cute little friend she made there. She also went into her first heat while there and Andy and Amanda handled it perfectly professionally. We were always kept in the loop with what Lucy was working on. What made us first interview Wet Nose Training was that Andy kept getting singled out in such rave reviews at his last place of employment. I searched him out and saw that he had started his own training company. Then, when we interviewed him (we interviewed 4 other potential trainers), we found that his METHOD was the one we were looking for. As I understand it, they teach basic manners with positive reinforcement, teach leash training using a flat collar (cross between a regular collar and a prong) so that Lucy could learn what he wanted. There were also very high quality treats to reinforce good behavior. Then they add in an ecollar. That was the part I was most afraid of. On a scale of 0-99 we only needed a 12 to get her attention. She had ample opportunity to learn what was expected of her first without the ecollar before it was ever used, and it was never used without notice to her. To me, this is the most constructive way to train. It's layers of learning, like learning your alphabet before you start reading a book ;) Andy knows dogs. And Andy LOVES dogs. He truly understands their nature and gave us so much insight into Lucy, like how to watch her thought process unfold and what her "tell" is before she makes a bad choice of action. We just had a follow up the other day to iron out some of our questions so we could more accurately reinforce what Andy had taught her, and he'll be coming to our neighborhood soon so we can fine tune some of her behaviors in her natural habitat. The fact that she pauses before going through a doorway until told she can, sits when she sees another dog rather than charging them, can be put in "place" when we need her to stay still to answer the door, and leaves her cranky old brother dog alone has been such a relief. I highly recommend Wet Nose Training.

Andy is great to work with, very knowledgeable and always very responsive! He took in our almost 1 year old Fila Brasilerio (AKA Brazilian Mastiff) baby, Lilith Rose, and she came home a changed puppy. Filas are an inherently aggressive and protective breed - which I love. However, I have two step children who come to visit us 1-2 times a year and needed to ensure that they wouldn't be eaten alive on site! Andy made that happen! She still lives true to the Fila temperament, but she listens to our commands and allows us to choose who she can or can't trust (unless you're an intruder:). Highly recommend Wet Nose Training!

Perfect "down stay" in doggy Disneyland

I HIGHLY recommend working with Andy. His methods are fun, intelligent, motivating and always positive, setting your pup up for success. Andy loves what he does and this translates in a very kind and positive but also consequent training atmosphere. He helped me understand my dog better. You'll get a lot of tail wagging and big smiles. He's been helping me with my 10m old lab since February and it's been an amazing improvement. I used to get compliments for my handsome dog, now it's compliments for how well trained he is. I have so much fun now spending time with my dog and his training. I tried 2 other trainers before.. not so good, pup had nervous diarrhea and showed signs of fear when I got him back from boarding.

This review has been years in the making. We originally took our 1 year old coonhound, Nash in 2018 for the board and train program. Andy kept us informed throughout the training and Nash came back happy and we'll behaved. I was worried he be too much of a robot coming back but he kept his goofy attitude while also minding his manners. Not only could we not be happier with Nash's training but we found a boarding faculty for life. I never feel guilty or worried leaving Nash, knowing he's getting a vaca too visiting and playing with his friends. Andy and his staff are always professional and you can tell they love what the do. I always feel comfortable knowing our pup is in amazing hands.

Andy has done such a good job not only training our baby Luke a precocious black lab mix and us that two years later he is so good we no longer have to use his training collar and he has stopped running off. He is happy and so well adjusted that it is harmonious in our house now. Andy truly is a dog whisperer. I can't thank him enough for his wonderful training of our boy. Also knowing we can always board him in a safe and loving environment.

Andy is by far the best trainer I have ever been exposed to. In the past I have tried more well known trainers, spent lots of money and was treated as a "number" and as a result our relationship with our dog suffered. With a new puppy and the desire to get it right we did a lot of research and found Andy. We introduced our French Bull Dog Rocky to Andy at Wet Nose at a very young age and could not be more happy with the results. First off Rocky was extremely responsive to Andy and my belief is that it is because Andy loves what he does, loves Rocky and is extremely knowledgable in his craft. Andy is personable and treats Rocky like his own. He is extremely positive and his methods develop results and have forged a life long relationship with Rocky and us. Andy and Wet Nose were one of the best decisions we have ever made. I am confident in recommending him to anyone.

He has a way of making training feel approachable and even fun, which made such a difference as this was our first experience with a dog trainer. Nothing ever felt overwhelming or intimidating. Dean was also very reassuring that a lot of what we have experienced with our Henry was normal puppy behavior. What really stood out to us was how personalized the training was. Dean took the time to understand Henry's personality and our lifestyle, and then tailored everything to fit our home environment. That made it so much easier for us to stay consistent and actually implement what we were learning day-to-day. Henry has learned all of his basic commands and is doing so well. I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet.
