I wanted to let some time pass before I wrote this long review so that we could see how our puppy Lucy did at home in the "real world" and how our included follow up trainings would go. I'm here to tell you that my husband and I couldn't be happier with the wonderful experience and results we have had at Wet Nose Training. We paid for the 3-week training and I'm really glad we did. Yes, it an investment to properly and thoroughly train your dog but when you think of having a well-behaved dog for the next 16-18 years, it is a sound investment. Also, this is one of those times you get what you pay for. Let me tell you, I did not see how I was going to be without my baby for 3 weeks. I kept reminding myself that we were doing this for her good so that one day she could be an off-leash dog on hikes and playing disc golf. A well-behaved dog has so many more opportunities: she can go to restaurants that allow dogs, she's welcome at other people's homes, I can trust her near children, the elderly, and other dogs. It is my saddest regret that my old dog was never trained and was poorly socialized. It has limited his life so much. Lucy got to go to Rudy's the day we picked her up! Andy is very transparent in letting you check out the environment. There is an inside work area (as well as an inside kennel room), but plenty of stimulating outdoor area for your dog to learn and practice, all surrounded by sturdy iron fencing. Once I saw the environment Lucy would be in I knew she would be safe. They only work together dogs that will be safe to work together so that your dog can develop his/her personality and confidence. I've attached pictures of our Lucy playing with a cute little friend she made there. She also went into her first heat while there and Andy and Amanda handled it perfectly professionally. We were always kept in the loop with what Lucy was working on. What made us first interview Wet Nose Training was that Andy kept getting singled out in such rave reviews at his last place of employment. I searched him out and saw that he had started his own training company. Then, when we interviewed him (we interviewed 4 other potential trainers), we found that his METHOD was the one we were looking for. As I understand it, they teach basic manners with positive reinforcement, teach leash training using a flat collar (cross between a regular collar and a prong) so that Lucy could learn what he wanted. There were also very high quality treats to reinforce good behavior. Then they add in an ecollar. That was the part I was most afraid of. On a scale of 0-99 we only needed a 12 to get her attention. She had ample opportunity to learn what was expected of her first without the ecollar before it was ever used, and it was never used without notice to her. To me, this is the most constructive way to train. It's layers of learning, like learning your alphabet before you start reading a book ;) Andy knows dogs. And Andy LOVES dogs. He truly understands their nature and gave us so much insight into Lucy, like how to watch her thought process unfold and what her "tell" is before she makes a bad choice of action. We just had a follow up the other day to iron out some of our questions so we could more accurately reinforce what Andy had taught her, and he'll be coming to our neighborhood soon so we can fine tune some of her behaviors in her natural habitat. The fact that she pauses before going through a doorway until told she can, sits when she sees another dog rather than charging them, can be put in "place" when we need her to stay still to answer the door, and leaves her cranky old brother dog alone has been such a relief. I am very thankful for Andy. We still have - thanks to Andy! - a full bred American Cocker Spaniel. He was the first dog that I ever had that bit someone (us) and he was only just over a year. Andy has done a great job with our Holly. She is a nervous dog and always will be, but Andy has trained US as well as Holly on how to overcome some of her fears. A couple months back, my partner in crime and I submitted a question through Yelp to dog trainers in the area for our flat-coated retriever. The first response came in almost immediately from Wet Nose. It was from the owner, Andy, who came across very friendly and straight to the point with quotes for their options. He also opened the message up to any other questions we may have had after his initial response and said if we were still interested we could set up a time to meet with him to gauge us on whether or not we were looking for anything else or if we had concerns and to also meet with our fur baby. My PIC and I had a few discussions afterwards and decided to meet with Andy for the assessment. Tbh, our schedules are almost always out of whack so we had to schedule and reschedule a couple of different times but Andy was so understanding and always giving us options on his availability. When we finally met, we brought our baby in and he went over the options again along with what the expectations and goals were for each of them. We never felt pressured to make a decision on the spot or opt for something out of our price range or anything of that nature. He absolutely asked us to comfortable with whatever decision we decided - even if that meant not going forward with him after that meeting. As I had also mentioned, Andy assessed her and observed the dynamics of her behavior (as well as ours) and even gave us some tips and pointers to take home with us before we left from our meeting. I'll tell you what: we felt so comfortable with everything that my PIC and I decided on the full monty (not THAT full monty but the 3-week boarding and training session - get your mind outta the gutter ;) We communicated via texts and phone calls at least a couple of more times and finally set a date for drop off. I don't think she knew what was coming bc she almost had that look Rose from The Titanic had when Jack went into the abyss of the Atlantic. "Come back! Come back!" Payment for the plan wasn't expected until later but we insisted on getting ahead of the curve and went with about half up front. Andy's primary focus at drop off was making sure she had her food and maybe any other toy or blanket that was hers so she could have us near while she was away. He said he'd send pics on updates and that she would be staying at his personal home throughout the duration of her training. A few days went by and we got a couple of pics and updates and after a few more days, Andy went ahead and sent us a video of her progress! I was in tears and couldn't believe how much she had learned in such a short time frame. Amazed is an understatement for sure! Finally, week 3 came and Andy again, was flexible with her pick up as well. When we got there she had just had a bath and was getting dried so in the meanwhile, Andy went over a few things with us but closed the loop on it once our fur baby was done drying. On an additional note: we had also re-homed another puppy (a golden retriever) and were unsure on how to properly introduce both girls. Andy was open to answering more of our questions about our new pup and encouraged us to bring her on pickup day! Wow! I think we spent about another hour and a half on pickup day going over what our flat-coated learned, what we should continue with (he even trained US so we could stay consistent!) and all the other details we needed to feel and be fully prepared. He even said he was willing to meet with us at his place, our place, or a mutual area to reinforce anything we needed or go over more items for training. About an hour or two after we left, Andy sent us a follow-up email full of additional info with attachments for our flat-coat in addition to how we can address any puppy issues or concerns we may have had for our golden retriever. He didn't have to think about our younger pup but he did! Fantastic! Right now with COVID, they're unable to hold puppy classes but he did give us alternatives that he had available as well. In talking about it with my PIC we're probably just going to opt for a 3-week boarding and training session for her since our first experience was absolutely great! Oh and he's been asking to meet with us the past week or so for our first follow-up session. Again, crazy availability but super freaking flexible! read more

Well, not sure where to start on this review for Andy, but here it is. Our 9-month old Lab (Ms Scout as Andy called her) spent 3-weeks with him. We are extremely happy with the work and of course results of Andy's training of Scout. I did most of the training for the first 8-months or so. We were able to get Scout to a pretty good point, but still with some challenges. What Andy did was get Scout (and us) to the next level, which I had several challenges. We waited about 1-week after we got Scout back and resumed our normal routine and activities, but only much, much better to see how Scout progressed and retained the training. Of course, a lot also depends on us continuing the training sessions with her while in our normal home environment. We are pleased with the end results, but still moving and learning based on Andy's recommendations. I must say, I am not surprised as that is how I met Andy, while he was out in public with a dog he was training. We took Scout to his place for an evaluation and pretty much sealed the deal after talking in-depth and specific things for Scout. We are looking forward to the home visit follow-ups with Andy to add new things and continue improving what he has already accomplished. We would highly recommend Andy (and his 3-week board/training program) to anyone who wishes to train or advance their own training of their dog. read more

Andy did such an amazing job with our dog, Samwise Gamgee. We have a male cocker spaniel puppy who was progressively getting more aggressive and needed help. We sent him to Andy and couldn't believe all of his progress. We couldn't be happier with Andy and the Wet Nose Dog Training program! We selected Andy because of the wonderful referrals we got from friends who have used him, and after meeting him saw how good he is with dogs and how much loves and understands them. We also appreciated his personable and communicative manner, and knew his 3 week board and train program was perfect for our dog. While many other training programs are 2 weeks, Andy does three because he wants to use the initial time to bond, connect and build trust with the dogs before jumping into full on training. Andy was a life saver to my sweet pup Remy! I rescued Remy when she was 6 months old and she was petrified of men and anyone in uniform. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! We took a rambunctious golden retriever puppy to Andy, and hoped for the best. Our goal was basically for him to walk with us on a leash without pulling us down the street, listen to commands, and not jump on everyone. We got our first video update after one week and could not believe the progress Andy had made. It was amazing! Hard to believe it was the same dog we dropped off. In just 3 weeks of training, our dog is so different. He understands commands and follows them. (sit, let's go, stay, place). He understands and responds to, "No" which makes life so much easier. He walks with us off-leash and stays right by our side. Before the training, we were putting up gates, and putting him in crates constantly. Now, all we have to do is say, "No" and he is good. Andy was so helpful and informative. He gave us great ideas and helped us create positive boundaries. It made all the difference. I was very impressed with the positive reinforcement that we saw. It seems that Andy loved our dog and was so great with him. He used corrections appropriately but mainly focused on positive reinforcement. I could tell his interaction with our dog was amazing. I believe that is why he got so much done so quickly. The best part is, we now get compliments on our dog wherever we go. People say, "Your dog is so well behaved!" I canNOT say enough about Andy and Wet Nose Training. I have a 2 year old shepherd/lab mix rescue and a 6 month old lab puppy. Our dogs are our children! We knew we wanted them to be trained but we were not going to leave them with just anyone. As soon as we called and then went out and met Andy, we knew we had found the best trainer around. The facilities are spotless and very welcoming. Andy is the best trainer we have ever, ever met. He is kind, patient, loving and VERY knowledgable. He was patient with me as I texted him ALL the time to check in on our boys. He would always respond with pictures/videos and updates. In every pictures, our dogs were so happy and relaxed. I was especially worried about or rescue as he was horribly abused before we found him and he was terrified of men. Andy was able to show our rescue that not all men are mean and for the first time, ever, our rescue trusted a man and even grew to love him. It was nothing short of a miracle. After two weeks of board and train, we picked our dogs up and truly could not believe what they had learned. They were DIFFERENT DOGS. They were happy, confident, and well-behaved. Andy knows that the most important part is continuing the training once we get home so spent two hours going over the training commands with me. He wanted to make sure I was comfortable carrying on their training/teaching at home. He is always available to answer questions. I think one of the most unique and fabulous things that Wet Nose offers is follow up sessions that are included in the general price of the board and train. Andy will come to our home or park or PetCo and work with us for three one-hour sessions- per dog!- to make sure we are all on the same page. This gave me a huge amount of confidence leaving. I know that even if I mess up, Andy will be coming to check in to get us back on track. He will also board our dogs anytime in the future and do some refreshing training. I have never, EVER boarded my dogs before this month and would normally never consider leaving them anywhere other than home but with Andy and the Wet Nose Training staff, I would jump at the chance because I know my dogs would be happy, relaxed and also reminded of their manners. Extremely impressed with Andy! If you are looking for results, go no further. We just couldn't get past the "basic commands" and with Andy's training we got exactly what we were hoping for in our female GS mix. She is responsive, attentive and listens!! She not longer chases the cats and behaves much better with other dogs. With continued reinforcement, I truly believe we will have the best companion dog. You will have to look hard to find the value and quality of training that Andy offers. We did opt for the 3 weeks and I really think it made the difference in our shelter rescue dog. If you are worried about leaving "your baby" with someone else, rest assured. We were very pleased to see that Andy takes his clients home with him after a very short evaluation time. He was extremely good at sending us texts with pictures regarding our dog's progress. Our 7 month Mini-Goldendoodle was having issues with jumping and not listening when called. Andy met with us for almost an hour one evening to talk about her issues and some advice (not even pushing us to spend money on training). We decided that having her board with Andy for two weeks would make a huge difference and it truly has. She is so much better now, and we continue to work with her to make sure she continues her education after the original training. Andy Madison recently had our 11 month old female puppy for a one week board and train. He came to our home to meet us and her. He observed her to evaluate what she had learned in her two puppy training classes that we had completed. He took the time to find out about our family's routines and expectations. Andy later came back to our home to pick her up for the board and train. He reviewed his plan for her for the week and what his expectations and goals for her training would be. We felt very comfortable with him taking her with him. Throughout the week he kept in touch with us to update us on her progress. When he brought her home he reviewed all that he had done with her. She had fun showing us everything that she had learned. She slept in her crate in Andy's bedroom. She had a great time playing with his pack of four dogs. Our puppy came home the same sweet and lovable puppy she always has been but with a calmer demeanor. Andy strongly believes in training with positive reinforcement. He had our puppy's full attention at all times. You could tell she adored him. He schedules a follow up session to check in to see if everything is going smoothly after the dog returns home and if you need any help. We've already scheduled another week of board and train for our puppy with Andy. I feel VERY confident in highly recommending Andy Madison as a very competent and qualified dog trainer. When he left our home our puppy stood at the window and whimpered as he drove away.
