First, I have used this groomer before and they were very nice but this time (FIRST RED FLAG) the gentleman was acting irritated disturbed and put upon during the intake of my dog...As I was handing over my dog (SECOND RED FLAG) he stated "I remeber him I had to muzzle him last cut" I mention that my dog.may be little anixious he corrected me and side "no he's [pointing to my dog] aggressive"...(THIRD RED FLAG) after the last groom I was never told that my pet had to be restrianed by a muzzled...my dog has been groomed at petco petland and mobile groomers without ever having to been muzzled...so I have to question what happen to my dog during the last visit to require a muzzle...I support local businesses but I will not be coming back to this establishment and I will be more diligent in screening future groomers. It's not the muzzeling I have a problem with but not being told about it being done e.g. hiding the fact that they relie on muzzle instead of behavioral techniques at controlling the animal being groomed. I would like to have known the criteria for requiring muzzle....was it for convenience of the groomer or for the groomers safety....I would support the later not the former...No Stars....so be careful when you entrust your pet and ask for the criteria for muzzling....beware pets can't speak but hopefully this review will help others make an informed decision on where they want to spend their hard earned money.... read more

I am extremely cautious about who I trust to groom our 7 year old yorkie. We've had bad experiences in the past but a friend recommended Scissors & Suds & OMG they did a fantastic job on him. He has skin allergies that get irritated easily & I've caught a groomer at Petsmart being really rough with him so I wanted a place that treats doggies well & understands my concerns. This is lengthy so I apologize - I never leave reviews, but don't want anyone to have to experience this, especially not their dogs. I have a 14 month old miniature goldendoodle named Cali. On June 2nd, 2020 my boyfriend took her in for a mini groom at scissors and suds, he also picked her up. Her ears and tail were matted so I knew they were going to have to shave them during the visit and was ok with that, they did and turned out fine. What caught me by surprise was that Cali had been shaved from the top of her eyes (eyebrow level) down to the tip of her nose, basically the entire bridge of her nose, was completely SHAVED. I was pretty shocked when I first saw it but also speechless, with shaved ears and tail, she was quite the sight. About an hour later it looked like the bride of her nose was bleeding but it was not actively bleeding or wet to the touch, I looked it up and found out that it was razor burn or clipper burn - that was a whole different mess. Anyway, the next day I decided to call the scissors and suds to simply inquire about why they shaved the bridge of her nose, I wasn't upset, just curious - thought maybe she moved and they tried to clean it up or who knows and maybe they had recommendations for what to use on her burn. So my phone conversation with Sergio, the manager, went like this somewhat paraphrased but no exaggeration or false wording added: ME: Hi I was just wondering why Cali had her entire top of her nose shaved? Sergio (after several "what's?": "I would never do that." ME (appalled and confused): "Well that's how she was when she was picked up, I have pictures. I can show you or send them. Sergio (again): "I would never do that." ME: "OK, well someone at your place did..." and then I went on to explain and describe the razor/clipper burn. At one point he says, "well the shaved bridge is a type of style" which then I was like but you said you would never do that so did you? And he responded, no. Then went back to the razor/clipper burn and he said, "I don't believe you." Basically had that conversation for several minutes of "I wouldn't do that" and "I don't believe you". At some point he also said, "this is her 1st groom so maybe she has sensitive skin" referring to the razor burn. I responded, "She's a doodle and 14 months, do you really think this is her 1st groom, I never said that." I asked if he wanted to see her or pictures of her since he didn't believe me, and he said sure but when i asked hours he said, "whenever i'm done". I asked when do you think you'll be done and he said, "I don't know". At that point it was clear that he didn't care, he had no remorse, and lied, then tried to accuse me of lying. He was very rude, unkind, and unreasonable, I went into the conversation just hoping for some recommendations for her razor burn and understanding of her cut and the conversation left me very saddened - mostly because if a man who is the manager of a place can speak to a person like this, who has a voice, I can only imagine how he treats and speaks to our dogs that we leave and entrust with him unsupervised, who don't have a voice. Cali's hair will grow back and her burn will heal but no dog deserves to be maltreated and no person deserves to be spoken to in such a manner. Cali was clearly sad when she was picked up. I've been bringing my dogs here for a couple of years and have always been very satisfied. They're quick and great with my dogs. This time, it was my Dolly's first time and she didn't do well with being in the kennel. She ended up cutting through the wires and cutting her tongue. They were quick to call and have us pick her up. Since it was a busy Saturday, they suggested bringing her in on a Tuesday and were more than welcoming to me sitting with her. They were so good with Dolly, I can only hope she'll be better about getting groomed from now on. read more

Why did I ever go to Petsmart? In my opinion this place is top notch as good as it gets. They don't nickel and dime you for every little thing and as you can see from pics of my dog Major they do a fantastic job. I wish I would have taken a before pic but he was really messy from the rain and due for a cut. He looks like a new man now and I could not be happier. Their prices are fair for and cheaper than others I received services from. Major has anxiety and he did great with them and didn't even have his anxiety collar or jacket with him! I would highly recommend this place they are courteous, good at what they do, and affordable. read more

Since moving to this side of town, we were in need of a groomer for both of our Shih Tzus'. Scissors and Suds came recommended via Yelp. I called on a Thursday morning for availability and to my surprise they took them both in the same day! Groomers definitely did a great job on their grooming. Full grooming done in about 4-5 hours for both dogs. And the price was great. They charged me for both what other places would've normally charged for just one dog. My only issue was that they only accept cash or check. No credit cards or such. Kind of an inconvenience to go to an atm to make a withdrawal when one doesn't normally carry that much cash. Other than that it was my first time there and it was a pleasant experience overall. I would highly recommend and will be bringing my dogs back again. read more

I dropped my dog off around 8, they told me they would be calling around lunch time for me to pick him up. At noon I called to see how much longer it would be since I hadn't received a call yet. They told me it would another hour to hour and a half. I waited for a call, but still didn't receive any so at 3 my boyfriend and I got off to go pick him up. They had already closed by the time I got there so I start calling and banging on the door and nothing. I tried calling the other location and still no answer. I then cal the cops who told me they might now even able to help. So I waited TWO HOURS before the workers got back and claimed they had an emergency. I was absolutely furious at this point. HOW DARE YOU leave my pet unattended along with a dozen others?! This is unacceptable. They also cut with and shaved him to wear he's raw in some places on his legs. I will never recommend or return here. I will make sure people know to not trust these people with your precious babies. The next door shop also told me that they come and go all the time and that's normal for them. read more

I would not take my pet there. I had been taking my doodle there for a year and hadn't had any issues. (He is very well behaved)Now they have a new groomer, when I picked him up all she did was complain about how difficult he was during the grooming. She butchered his face and he didn't even smell clean like he normally does. When I called the Owner to complain about her new groomer all she did was make excuses for her. She even admitted that groomer is slower than usual. She never apologized for my experience or valued me as a Customer. I paid $100 for that visit and I will be taking my Goldendoodle elsewhere for his grooming services from now on. read more

This place was close by & when I called for an appt they had an opening for my english bulldog. SO happy I came here! Great FRIENDLY service & reasonable prices! I took my dog in at 8 am and picked him up at 2:30 pm when I was told 11 at the latest. The lady at the store was very nice but noticeably very frazzled with her toddler there. I had to call them myself three times when they had first taken my number down wrong, then to check on my dog. It was more expensive than Petsmart and more hassle. They didn't trim his nails like I was expecting so I had to take him somewhere else to get that done. I won't be back. read more

I've been bringing my morkie here for a few years and overall, I'm pleased with the services. My morkie's cuts have been cute if a little longer than I like (I want them almost naked since fur tends to, you know, grow back) and once we brought in our mixed breed dog for a face feet tail or FFT. They tend to cost less since you're only grooming a limited part of the dog but it cost the same as a full groom. So, for that dog, I do it myself now. They only accept cash or checks, so remember that when you go pick up your dog. My dog has always been happy to see me and comes home full of zest to be back. He gets the occasional clipper burn but that it kind of inevitable. Their shampoo and perfume smell wears off faster than I would like. They don't require any vaccine history which is good or bad depending on your opinion. I keep my dogs up to date so I'm not terribly worried. They usually can get you in pretty fast and I'd say their turnaround time is decent. The cost is what I'd expect for a full groom, I think $48 for my small dog and then add a tip. All the employees are pleasant and they cheerfully give me an extra bandanna for the pup that stayed at home (he is nuts and loves to wear them). read more

So this was our first time to take our dogs to this groomer. We had a groomer we liked but she closed so we were trying this place because it's near us. We have a Yorkie and a Maltese. We are not satisfied at all with their haircuts. Our Yorkie's hair is all choppy and uneven and we asked for a sanitary cut and he still has a large strip of hair running down that area and his ears don't even look like they were touched. Our Maltese looks even worse. Her head is uneven and they didn't trim her hair around her mouth and her tail is messed up. The only reason they got 2 stars is because they are clean and smell good. read more

My daughter was visiting over Thanksgiving with her 2 dogs - a Golden and a 15 lb boy mix. Booked grooming for both a week in advance. Arrived at 9am and there were already 10 dogs in kennels waiting to be groomed! Receptionist said ours would be ready "about noon-ish". We called at noon, they said more like "about 3:30-4". We could hear the Golden howling in the background! Around 3pm an attendant called said the Golden's nail had bloodied from being caught in the cage would we like to take her to the vet!!?? When we picked them up FINALLY, the Golden had a bloody top of her nose from banging against the kennel! Why didn't they just call us 10 min ahead of appt to bring them in instead of locking those babies in a cage for 6 hrs before the grooming! Contacted management, NO response! read more

I called the Tezel location to see about cat trimming/grooming and was told, very rudely, that they don't do cats at THAT location. groomer was very rude and judgmental. we brought in a dog who needed attention because he was not groomed in a while. she was really rude to me and my friend about it. quoted 50 but charged 75 did not give a receipt. did not trim nails. did not clean ears. cut was choppy. complained the dog was difficult. if the dog was difficult why didnt i get a call to pick him up. he was really stressed out when he got home. he is an elderly dog. 11 yrs old. tried to contact the owner but she did not return my call. will never go back there again.
