My furbaby is a 120 lb GIANT Alaskan Malamute. Today was his first time being professionally groomed. I went and did a little reconnaissance before bringing in my baby. I especially loved how the staff were patient with my excessive Q&A prior to bringing, Sir Winston in . With Winston, our experience has been staff making the mistake of assuming he is either a Siberian husky, therefore the mishandling or fear from his size begins. Planet Pet Spa, had him scheduled first thing in the morning, so he would experience minimal activity to ensure he could ease into his FIRST experience. My main focus was to have Sir Winston, deshedded, shampooed and dried. Not much, but with a 120 lb who can be reactive, I had anticipated this to be challenging. My biggest concern was the staff being able to handle my him when he didn't want to move (as he generally will sit down in protest if he doesn't want to go). Our groomer, Nazarene, at drop off was not even fazed by Winston's size. Which only reassured me that I had placed Winston in good hands. Upon picking Winston up, he was in good spirits and seemed to have had a good experience. I struggled with looking for a big dog groomer, and I'm so thankful that we found Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene. I highly recommend Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene, if you have a giant breed. I brought my anxious senior maltipoo for a full body grooming and Ariel did a wonderful job. We have been traveling on the road and just settled in San Antonio, so my dog was not in the best shape.. she recently also became incontinent--she had matts and stubborn eye boogers and was looking quite disheveled. Ariel got her looking and smelling so clean. She also had the wonderful idea to shave down the diaper area and tail to prevent diaper matting so I really appreciated that. The wait time as well as the price of the whole service was very reasonable. They explain any possible additional fees prior to servicing your dog. I am absolutely blown away with the customer service and quality of the pet grooming experience!! I messaged a few businesses late last night for an emergency dog grooming service. I needed a bath and nail trimming and teeth brushing. I got a response the next morning and they told me they could fit me in at 12:30. I texted back that I would be there and arrived promptly. Right when I arrived, the front desk person was extremely nice and knew exactly who I was because of my appointment time, even though I've never been there before. She was extremely helpful and confirmed the service that I wanted and told me to wait for a text message for when my dog would be ready for pick up, which is approximately two hours. Exactly 2 hours later, I arrived and received a text message that my dog was ready for pick up. When I walked in again, she knew exactly who I was and remembered that I was here for my dog. I was given a summary of the care that he received, and he looked so good! Brandon quickly told me all the grooming services that my dog received, and I even got a dog report text messaged to me. I love the puppy report card! They literally went above and beyond, I've never received this type of service for my dog ever before! Not to mention, my dog smell smells so good! Update after response : Nothing in the beginning (or the end) was explained about why the haircut could not be achieved. We went in asking for a shorter haircut/ shaved because we knew his hair had grown out and gotten matted with seeds that were stuck and not coming out when we brushed. The only thing we asked for was a rounder nose if possible*and showed the following picture* - Only after when picking up did our stylist say she couldn't go as short on his fur on the back just to be safe for the sun. (Which we highly appreciated and we're fine with) .Like I said we were really pleased and wish to come back but please don't make it seem a certain way when it wasn't. read more

Unfortunately this location changed ownership, but is still very convenient for me. The good: their booking system and the report card, and they save meticulous records on prior cuts and requests. The bad: they charge more, default to cage dryers unless you do rush service, charge a hefty fee for "rush" service, and just overall attitude of the groomers isn't as friendly. What used to cost $60 and take an hour for my x-small dog, now takes up to 2 hours and $100 even when considered "rush" but at least it's a good wash and cut, and the report cards are cute. I have opted to do my own dog's grooming instead though due to price and because I'm not willing to let her cry in their crate just three blocks from home for 4 hours. read more

I moved here from another state and was really bummed about leaving my dog groomer bc she was amazing. I gave this place a try based on reviews which were mixed but that was everywhere too. This is the third time my pups got groomed and I have had mixed feelings. First time it was ok. Nice groomer and good customer service but the cut was meh. One of my dogs ended up having a bowl cut. Not cute! Second time, the cut was better but the groomer didn't seem to enjoy being there. She was curt and I don't think she listened to any one of my requests! I asked for short ears on one dog and I ended up cutting an inch afterwards. But I'm so glad I gave it one more shot. This time the cuts were so good! And the groomers were all so friendly. Too good to be true. Dropped off my dog at 9 was told to pick up at 10:45 (have the texts to prove it). How can you possibly bathe, dry and cut a large furry 68lbs labradoodle in less than 2 hours? It takes me at least 4 hours to get everything done!!! Then have the nerve to up charge, based on weight it should have been $110, then charge me, ($125) because he's a "Doodle"?! (not mentioned beforehand in page btw). Then on top of that tell me once I pick him up it's $125 PLUS $10TAX?! (also not mentioned online)...plus an 3% up-charge if I use my card...guess what his ears were FILTHY (got time stamped photos as proof too), . I have taken my dog to 4 different groomers before, they've all taken way more than 2 hours to bathe and clip a dog his size. I seriously doubt that my dog was bathed, didn't even smell like dog shampoo , ...and his filthy ears and "speedy" visit only confirm it. Sorry but I will not continue business with you all. Not even in Miami that is more expensive they charge my parents $139 for bathe and clip my dog's sibling and take less than 2 hours. Ridiculous! read more

The prices are great and the service is really fantastic. I have two smaller dogs who get nervous/anxious at the groomers and they took care of them like they were there own. This was the first time taking my shih tzu to this groomer. The staff was super friendly and I felt good about it when I dropped her off. I did ask for them not to cut her head too short. I did feel like they they just ran the clippers down her head. She had a few areas where they went too close and left her with superficial abrasions. Mostly to her paws. I understand this can happen when cutting so short to the body, but my usual groomer uses the same blade and has never left her with abrasions.
