We get our dogs nails clipped regularly at the Carmia way location. The staff is always friendly even when they're super busy. I always call ahead to see what time works best for their availability. I was very disappointed when they have no type of birds available for sale. When I asked the lady at the register she replied with "I guess we don't update online and haven't heard birds in months". We brought our 8 month puppy in for a grooming. They put a new groomer on our puppy and they called us half way through saying they could not complete the grooming. Said our puppy was nipping at her. She said he did better with the manager standing there, but they could not finish him. when my wife went in to get our puppy, they told her that she would still have to pay. my wife told her that she wasn't paying her a dime. Then someone said, "you are not welcome back in the store". my wife told them she wasn't planning on ever coming back. Very RUDE young girls. read more

I booked a grooming appointment at the Chester location due to the Carmia Way store being booked which I frequently make appointments for grooming. I was told by the young lady Shelby that it was put in the notes that Prince has trouble grooming by the Carmia Way location. This was NEVER mentioned to me in his reports and your location always grooms him unless you're fully booked. Shelby calls me and says that she couldn't groom him fully because he doesn't like the clippers and she was only able to bath him and clean up his face. $45 for a half done job. I've never had any location tell me that they couldn't groom him. This is completely unacceptable! I'm disappointed in Petsmart more specifically your location because I've always booked through you and never once had an issue. This will be my last visit with Petsmart. read more

I usually always get my dogs groomed at petsmart and this was the first time getting them groomed at this location. I cannot believe how awful they made my dog look. I told the girl I like the traditional golden doodle cut but I like the ears cut short and the sides of the face a little shorter so he doesn't have a football shaped head. She did the exact opposite. Shaved the top of his head and left his ears long and his face wide. It's embarrassing how hideous he looks. It cost me $100 and I still had to take him home and fix it up the best I could. What a waste of money for such an incompetent groomer. First of all the animals are treated like shit here. The fish live in tiny containers meeting zero of the animals needs and expectations. They advertise horrible living spaces and the rodents there look like they might die die to unhealthy living spaces and they have zero hides of toys. It's result terrible. I would not recommend an area where they treat the animals this badly!! The cats also need space and PetSmart obviously doesn't know the meaning of the word "space" for animals what so ever. If I could rate this place a zero I would. If PetSmart is reading this then I want you to hear this, if your going to sell people animals give them a good home. My final visit to PetSmart Groomer. It is impossible to get reliable information regarding appointments. Today was the multiple-ith time I have taken my dog for a nail trim. I was told to return in a half hour. I did, and I was told I needed an appointment and they were unable to do it. This has happened before. Just tell me the truth and schedule an appointment for me. That is all I ask. I am unable to schedule an appointment online, because there is not an option for "nail trim." Dogma is farther up the road from me, but they have always done a good job at a reasonable price, so they have earned my business from now on. We just moved here from SF and are living with my parents until our short sale home goes through. Scratch that...I meant, if it ever goes through. Pure frustration. Never buy short sale homes! Anyways... I took my dog here for a basic bath because I wasn't ready to hear my mom nag about my dog's hair getting stuck in the bathroom drain. I've taken my dog to Petsmart in Cali before and for some reason he's always been deathly afraid of going. He is perfectly sane and even excited for car rides...but yet he has this sixth sense for knowing when we've entered the Petsmart parking lot. It's like he can feel the tense energy from the other dogs there and it makes him eerily uncomfortable. Because of that, we've stopped taking him to Petsmart in Cali. However, because of the snowstorm and the holiday season we were forced to take him to Petsmart. I honestly don't know what goes on behind closed doors. But it's a obvious sign when all the dogs that go there are desperately trying to escape out the door at every chance they get. My dog was no different. I made an appointment for the basic bath which included a shampoo, nail trim, cleaning the ears, and a bandanna or bow. Three hours later I came to pick up my dog and noticed his coat was still damp. He smelled no fresher than when he entered the shop and the nails on only two out of his four paws were trimmed. Oh and no bandanna. What a rip off?!? It pissed me off that it was about 30 degrees outside and he wasn't even dry! What am I paying them for? That is the last time I trust Petsmart with my dog. read more

My wife and I recently came in to peruse the cat toy section, and left with a cat for our cat. The way that the adoption process was treated was great, and Diana worked very hard to keep us informed and help us out. She took time to extract coupons for us for the extra supplies we'd need, and was so kind and inviting. May not be a direct reflection of Petsmart, but since it involves a poor experience of a third party animal shelter represented by Petsmart, Petsmart has to be the face of the concern. Francene(?) is a very disrespectful individual, and I question how she has been approved to handle adoptions of animals at this location. I tried to adopt two kittens from the Petsmart in the Richmond Va location and was denied because I didn't have vaccine paperwork with me. I was out of town, as I live in Northern VA, and wasn't expecting to attempt an adoption. I have adopted many animals from the local Petsmart near my home, and have never had an issue, but apparently policies are handled differently in this specific location. My friend had also been in the store with me, and was denied, even though she had appropriate information that was needed, but I'm assuming because she was associated with me that my friend would be a "problem" as well. I spoke with Francene on the phone to receive clarification as to why I was denied, and she was less than pleasant to speak with. My perception on Petsmart has changed after today, and again, I understand this animal shelter is not officially Petsmart, but a partner, but I will no longer shop somewhere that accepts behavior such what was represented by Francene. I've been so pleased with the grooming salon for my 2 poodles over the last year and a half at the Carmia Way location. Everyone is very friendly and they seem to genuinely care about the dogs. The cuts have been great, my kids always look lovely and fresh! Lisa Marie did an exceptional job with my standard poodle today, it's always exciting to know a fellow poodle lover is taking care of him! Definitely recommend. read more

They understand his issues, and even before the store opens they always take him in and call a manager to check me out. I was waiting outside the door to the grooming salon waiting for the dog and owner in there to leave because their waiting area is so small and having two dogs in there is too much for my young 80lbs puppy. A worker walked out and right past me without asking me if I needed help. I had been standing there for 10 minutes. I left without getting my dogs nails grinded. Will never return to this location. Beware of price gouging at pet smart on Carmina way in Richmond virginia. The last 5 times I was there the prices that were rung up at the register were higher then the price on the shelf and it goes for on sale and regular prices items alike. At first I thought it was an error but now it appears that there is consistent price differences at checkout. They will adjust it but you have to catch the error. So snap a pic of the price before you go up to the register. It appears to not be by accident that they are continually trying to overcharge. read more

Do not take your dog to this groomers!!!! We had our Goldendoodle cut & we asked for half of her hair to be cut off. Her hair was at least two inches long. She still has her tail hair so it's easy to distinguish how long it was before. The girl basically gave my dog a buzz cut. You can no longer grab or run your hands through her hair. She does not even look like my dog anymore. I went to the store the next day (my boyfriend is the one who took her & picked her up) and asked for a refund. A terrible experience at the grooming salon.. They agitate my docile dog while getting her nails trimmed and/or clipped. My dog is always very nervous there and has progressively gotten worse, wanting to jump off the table. Then, I took her to the vet's office for this service; still nervous, she doesn't freak out once. The level of difference in professionalism is amazing. My dog still dislikes trips to the vet, but behaves reasonably. Also, Banfield is a complete ripoff. Their prices are easily twice of what other vets charge. I have a regular vet and another excellent one I use in case I can an appointment when I want; both are very knowledgeable, don't charge an arm and a leg, and my dog sees better results faster. I have been bringing my Siberian Husky here since she was two months old. I have never had any problems, they do an excellent job with grooming. She has never been a fan of being dried and they accept it and do not force her to use the dryers. I brought my dog to another groomer(4 the love of dogs in Chester) and when I picked her up she was terrified, not her usuall self, had mats , and was told they were unable to groom her. I have never had any probems in the past with her being groomed and she loves to be brushed.The next day I brought her to Petsmart and when I picked her up she was back to her usual happy self and she looked fantastic.
