I brought my dog in last Thursday for a routine bath and brush. He was groomed by Joshua A. During the appointment, I received a call saying my dog was being "difficult" and was very afraid of the dryer. This was surprising to hear, as this is the first time I've ever been told my dog was fearful or difficult at a groomer. When he came home, he was acting a little off, but nothing immediately obvious. Over the next couple of days, I noticed he seemed to be in pain. Today, I took him to the vet and was told he has a tail sprain and back pain. I also learned that his anal glands were not expressed, which is something I typically expect as part of a grooming visit. I don't know exactly what happened while he was being groomed, but something clearly did. I've called the store twice trying to speak with someone and haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone. I'm leaving this review because I'm genuinely concerned about my dog's experience and well-being, and because the lack of communication or follow-up from the store has been frustrating. I hope management takes this seriously and reaches out, as I'm looking for answers and accountability. read more

Dropped my dog off and the groomer checked her no mats. Called me back later said her legs were matted. Thats fine. I get her back and her hair is lopsided not cut the way I asked short tail short rounded ears. Her ear is red from what looks like the clippers slipping. Groomer left for the day. Apparently she needed to have a cone put on her because she was biting and thats why the cut was messed up. Didn't tell me, no message left on my phone. Somehow was able to get her face shaved but said she was highly reactive so idk how thats possible but I am not a groomer. I would be highly reactive if I got scraped by clippers too. Also why would you continue shaving a dog thats sooo reactive. What if you had cut her face. So apparently you cant get a refund because the groomers are protected or something. I was pleasantly how well the grooming went! I had stopped going because the last cut was horrible. Tried a "salon" and was not pleasantly surprised by the price. I am kinda of picky about how I want my dogs to look. When I scheduled the appointment, I was encouraged to bring a picture. That's pretty much what I got at pick up. Vanessa seems much more adept at grooming that the last crew that was there. Dogs did not seem stressed , more than any grooming. I plan on asking for Vanessa every time now. read more

I would not recommend this place for grooming. We took our dog here for a bath and brush today, his first time there. When we got home we noticed he still had poop stuck on his bottom. It's as if they avoided this area. We called to see if they could correct this. We were put on hold, first two people didn't know what to do or say, so they put us on hold for the third person. Who said he must have pooped in your car (which he had not) or popped in the kennel. But they had definitely washed his bottom. No solutions just excuses. We've asked for the managers name (Stacey) and will call again when she is there. In hopes of better customer service. read more

I don't write reviews at all, but I really think I should so no other owners put their babies through this. My Shiba has gotten a bath and brush from here before and they turn out perfect, and he sheds less afterwards. But this time it was totally different! I took my Shiba to get a bath and brush by the bather, Kaia. Everyone else there were very friendly and gentle to my dog when we got there for check-in. When Kaia came in they did not greet us, they just took my dog without saying anything, which was the first red flag. When I came to pick up my dog, Kaia wasn't even there to let me know how he did, since he was terrified to begin with. Once we got home however, I noticed my dog had this big bloody gash on his back!! The Lead from the salon helped me out to get him check out at the Banfield and said it was a Brush Burn, but How the hell do you brush that hard to leave that big of a wound?? Fortunately, my Shiba boy is okay. The manager was able to get me a refund and helped me get him check out at the Banfield next door. read more

I went in to this location today around 9:15 AM. I went in to get one bone for my dog who has been experiencing horrible anxiety. I go in, I am greeted by someone, and there are other people in the store shopping around. I grab the bone, go to the register, and an employee walked into the store, looked at me, then came back and told me the store was not open yet. How is that so when google says the store opens at 9, and there are other customers here with full on shopping carts? It was an extremely uncomfortable experience. I had to go put the bone away and leave. I have never had such an awkward experience, and quite honestly I felt discriminated against. I've tried calling the store multiple times to try to contact a manager and have had no luck - the line is always busy. All I wanted was literally one bone for my dog, didn't cause any issues at all. I hope management reads this and reviews security footage so this employee of theirs can be fired. read more

Feedback about grooming. I've taken my dog here for grooming for last 4-5 years and have usually had a great experience but my experience this last time ruined my experience with them. Background: made appointment at a specific time to get my dog groomed. I showed up a few minutes early so was asked to wait outside because groomer was still at lunch. Fair. I was early. Came back at my scheduled time, again was told groomer was not back yet, but should be a few minutes more... so I waited outside again. About 7 minutes later groomer came back, came in with no sense of urgency, even though he was late. His colleague mentioned to him that I'm waiting outside. He didn't even acknowledge me. I'm standing looking through the window waiting for some sort of "hey ..just a few more minutes" or something. No, he just took this time tying his hair, putting on jacket, looking at computer. I waited for 5 minutes later but decided to cancel. He called saying that he had to wait because there was a big dog in there and didn't want to scare my dog. Fair. But there was no mention nothing I just supposed to assume that. Called customer service at the store to complain. Was asked to wait and put on hold again. After 10 minutes I hung up and booked another place. I know it's not fair to review the whole place considering a single person negligence, but I couldn't even talk to customer service. The fact that I had express grievance but kept putting on hold says they don't care about your time or really your business. read more

Just got both our dogs back from grooming and once we got home noticed both dogs were still damp, one of our dogs (pomsky) didn't even get his paw pads trimmed when that's what was part of what we paid for, our other dog (shiba inu) one of his paws were left without his nails trimmed, both still have lots of hair coming off of them, had good experience previously but there's never the same people working there, also the dogs were there for 4 hours, pretty bad experience this time around and I won't be taking them back as they both seemed pretty scared when we came to pick them up, not really worth taking them back even though I feel I wasted $180 getting them both groomed! read more

I made an appointment for my dogs to get groomed and when I arrived the manager was super short and told me to wait outside, I said I had an appointment at 9:30 am and I just wanted to let them know I was here. The manager responded that so did everyone else. Once it was my turn to be inside the manager called me madam to which I replied that my pronouns were they/them. The manager continued misgendering me and smirking when I pointed out my pronouns until I had enough. I was on the verge of tears and didn't want to break down in front of these people so I told them I was leaving and they could cancel my appointments. I saw Stacy follow me through the store and I remembered I had signed paperwork so I turned around to ask if I could have the paperwork I had signed and I was told that I couldn't have it and they do not give it out. The first time that my family and I took our multi-poo here we were extremely impressed with Justin. He seem to mediately bond well with our new puppy and although she is really rambunctious Justin handled her extremely well. He was able to blow her out and she looked very neat and clean and trimmed all her sanitary areas that required it. The reason I'm giving two stars is not due to Justin it is because the next time that we took her she was groomed by the girl that works there whose name I can't remember with the colored hair who isn't all that friendly but I was willing to bypass that as long as my puppy was groomed properly. After the three hours and mind you this time I had to pay $80 and was dissatisfied and the other time I only paid 20 and I was extremely satisfied when I picked her up we did not recognize her and seriously kept doubting it was her because her hair was cut so short that it changed her physical appearance. She also had a spot that looked like it was bald. I believe she may have messed up and try to make it seem like she did that intentionally but I was extremely dissatisfied and do not plan on going back. Melissa is absolutely amazing!! She did my American Staffy puppy and was so good with him. Major is not a fan of getting his nails done, and he also hasn't been to a grooming salon that much for services. Melissa not only got everything done, but she also got him done very quickly. Ok I know the reviews here are not great, but my personal experience with the grooming salon is stellar. I booked an appointment with an academy student, my dog is old and was being a little extra nervous so they were sure if they could safely do the wash and cut. So I stuck around while they tried it out and see how he did...he ended up doing fine but the senior groomer came and found me as I was walking around the store to tell me he's doing fine. They were both courteous and seemed like they wanted to give it a good try and make it work instead of not even trying. I appreciate the customer service. The person at the register was also welcoming and friendly. I would also like to mention that the entire store was very tidy, all the isles were nicely stocked, and the shelves were very well organized. And the haircut looked great! read more

Where did formal good and caring pet groomers go? This pet grooming was used to be my favorite place for my pets in the last 10 years. Now they hired terrible groomers who have no personality, rude, lazy, and lack of compassion towards the pets. I can tell the way they interact with the pets and customers. These new groomers just need a paychecks with high hourly rate since the Pandemic. Unfortunately, I see this trend everywhere in customer service sectors even at a high end store like Nordstrom. Companies are just desperate to find employees to fill the positions and they just grab anyone coming to their door that have no skills to really love what they do. I have a rescue puppy that needs some grooming because her hair is very long and not something I can take care of myself but need professional care for. I had an appointment booked out in advance and it was canceled the night before without specifying why. I understand that the salon may be understaffed and I hold very high regards for those working hard but that does not mean you're able to speak to me rudely and hang up without saying anything. It has been 9 years since I reviewed this PetSmart, so figured it was time for an update! As it is the largest pet store near where I live I frequent it for food, supplies, and toys. I don't use their grooming services or their vet care, so I cannot comment on either. The location is very convenient near Target so I can grab things I need there and then pop over to PetSmart to grab things my cats need. It is nice. They've managed to maintain the store and keep it clean and clear. They're very good at cleaning up puppy puddles quickly and they seem very responsive to any other pet messes that occur. They have a solid stock on everything except not the largest selection of cat toys. It is one area that I've watched steadily shrink over the years. Purrfect Pals still maintains an adoption center toward the back of the store and I frequently see new cats so I assume their adoption rate must be good. Their employees also seem to be frequently new with a fairly high turnover, but I assume that is the nature of the business. There's not a lot of employee presence during the week in the aisles, but when lines get more than four customers deep they're quick to get a backup cashier out to help. This review is for Justin! He was really friendly right off the bat, was patient with me because I forgot her updated vaccine papers and had to look them up. He was so nice to Mocha who is TERRIFIED of the grooming salon. We dropped her off at 11:30 and she was ready around 3. My partner had walked to the grooming salon sometime in between to check on timing and the girl working said another 3 or 4 hours which was stressful for a second, I couldn't imagine a dog being in such a stressful environment for that long and probably would have just picked her up at that point, but I called and Justin had answered and said he was "on her last paw" :p He listened to all my requests with her. She feels so much lighter but she's still fluffy and cute. I asked for rounded paws instead of tapered and he knew exactly what I meant! Nobody has ever listened to that in the past. She had mats behind her ears he was able to take care of and her butt/skirt is cut so cute like a corgi! Make sure you bring a cash tip because you can't tip them on card which was too bad. I've been bringing my long hair dachshund here for grooming for the last 4 years or so and am always satisfied with their customer service and grooming services. The very first time I came in 2013, they unfortunately couldn't get anything done with my dog, but I blame Leo (my doxie) for that because he kept trying to bite the groomer, sorry! I tried again a few months later and it's been successful ever since. Leo usually gets a full cut, his teeth brushed, nails cut, and a shampoo and dry. Leo has seen several groomers at the Renton location and they've all been great, he's never come home with anything I did not ask for. Also, anyone who can deal with my little devil is a saint! Leo has most recently been seeing Astrid and she's wonderful. There was an interesting incident that occurred with another customer the last time we went in for a visit and she handled the situation great. She continued to give me updates on Leo's status and made sure it accommodated my schedule. I really appreciated that. I'm not sure what package I get but my services are typically around $60. The prices have increased since 2013 but that's no surprise. I'm always happy with the work and service here so I don't mind paying this price. I will not take Leo anywhere else (because I don't need to) and I recommend you all check out Renton PetSmart grooming for your pets too! read more

Took both my boys here to be groomed, as I have done once or twice before, but I was left very dissatisfied this time round. I showed pictures of how I wanted them to be groomed and not only did they come back with different styles but I was also over charged $12 for my 8lb chihuahua/miniature poodle mix. My shih tzu mix has uneven hair all around his ears, which again wouldn't be an issue if they had followed what I asked for. They have a policy to "make it right" but I'm not going to subject my guys to going right back when they have just been let out out (the little one is the nervous type). I did appreciate the cashier at the front of the store who was polite and made an effort to greet and be welcoming to every customer. The groom time was also half of what they told me originally, happy about that but now wish they had stuck to the 3-4 hours and done a better job. The groomers scheduling here is a joke. I scheduled an appointment for my lab to get a bath, teething cleaning and nail trim. They called the day before my appointment to confirm and reminded me to bring her rabies vaccine record. I told the girl on the phone we had a vet appointment right before her grooming appointment to get her vaccine and we would be there. The next day I show up to my appointment only to be informed that they can't groom her the same day she's had her vaccine and we need to reschedule BUT there isn't any openings for almost a month. I explained to them my frustration because she has to take anti anxiety medicine before coming so that they are able to clip her nails so I had drugged my dog for nothing and that I had told the girl who called the day before she would be getting vaccinated right before the appointment and she said nothing. I went online and scheduled another appointment, I added in the notes that she would be taking anti anxiety medicine before her appointment so she may seem groggy. I had to leave work early to make her appointment. They call the day before and confirmed the appointment, nothing was mentioned about her being medicated. Showed up to her appointment today to be informed that they can't groom her if she has taken any type of medication.... Why wasn't this mentioned when they called to confirm the appointment yesterday? This is now the 2nd time I've had to leave work early to bring her in, only to be told some excuse as to why they can't see her and the 2nd time I've drugged my dog for nothing They offered to reschedule for the following day but according to them legally they can't treat her when she's medicated so there is really no point. I'll just make the drive to Burien to see our old groomer who has no issue with our dog taking medicine before being seen. read more

Very unprofessional. I had my appointment moved several times - the first time because they had moved all Renton grooming to Burien temporarily. So I rescheduled for that location. And then they called the morning of the appointment to cancel it because the groomer was out sick. I rescheduled again, showed up, they turned us away asking for updated vet paperwork. Rescheduled again, only for them to cancel half an hour before service due to the groomer being behind on the dog she was currently grooming. This was super unfortunate since they did such a great job on my pup the one and only time my appointment was actually kept. Overall very unprofessional and frustrating experience , I would not recommend to anyone. read more

They will let you book grooming with a coupon then refuse to honor it when you pick the dog up. The excuses kept changing for WHY they wouldn't honor it. My pug stares at me and I wonder what he sees. I know he knows that I'm the one who feeds him and when I need to get his food I have to go to Pet Smart or Petco since they both carry the limited ingredient formula foods I need for small dogs. It's very important if your dog has gastrointestinal issues from eating too fast that you get food for small breeds. It makes a big difference. I have used regular prescription dog foods but all of the kibbles were too big and he just kept getting sick. Once I spoke to my vet and figured out there were limited ingredient foods for smaller dogs I found the right one at Pet Smart. I like that they'll take good back if your dog doesn't like it. They also have a very understandable return and exchange policy. I appreciate hate that because you never know what your dog is going to likely dislike... It's a mystery. The staff here are very helpful if you have any questions and they also have helped me with fitting my pug with a harness. It's a good store and the staff are usually both knowledgable and helpful. I like that they have sales on dog toys since my pug goes through them very quickly. If you are looking for a large selection of limited ingredient goods this is the place! read more

Rules are meant to be interpreted and that is a sad statement when a large chain allows itself to receive poor reviews due to the ineptitude of its underpaid and undermotivated staff members. I set a grooming appointment for 7am this morning. Having taken my dog to this store for the last 2 years I was very familiar with the location and potential traffic snafu's that I might encounter getting there today. Got to the store at 7:14am and waited several minutes for someone to answer the front door. The store is closed at this time so you have to catch the attention of someone stocking shelves. There was a young woman stocking supplies wearing headphones and she did her best to ignore us and even looked at us twice at the door. When we were finally let into the store I made a beeline for the grooming area only to be told that at 7:20am we were now :20 minutes late and would have to reschedule our appointment. I let the associate know that we had been standing at the front door for several minutes to no avail. Last time I will patronize this chain. read more

The first two times I took my dog in for her furminator bath they did a great job. The 3rd time not only did they charge me for a prepaid service but did a horrible job with my dog. They did fix the prepay issue but my dog is shedding just as bad if not more than when she went in. I could tell it was someone new but they should train better, or train that individual better.
