Ok its taken me almost a month to write this review because I wasnt sure I wanted to. I have taken my 10lb 9 year old Chihuahua here for her baths for a lil over a year and Koko would beat me to our front door whenever I asked her if she was ready to go see Elizabeth. Elizabeth was so sweet with her and knew how protective I was and just made me so at ease to leave Koko there. This last time when I went online to schedule appt it didnt show any appointments avail with Elizabeth. I finally made an appt with a employee i hadnt met for 7pm on Saturday. When we arrived no one was im the outer area. No dogs no people and we stood there for almost 5-7 mins. The whole time i could hear a dog howling from the back. Koko had started shivering by that time. Finally an employee walked out w a lil dog and said hello. Then another employee came out who had seen Koko once before and we were talking. This whole time Koko is shaking. After about 10-15 mins she grabbed the leash they have to use and i placed Koko on ground. She put leash around kokos neck and started trying to get her to go with her. Koko was not budging. Id never had her do that. The girl starts pulling/dragging my dog by the leash into the back, at which time I got upset and told her not to pull her by her neck like that. I picked Koko up. After handing her to the girl and watching my dog squirm to get out of her arms I decided to just have her nails done and not her bath. When i returned 10-15mins later the girl was still holding Koko and keeping her calm and she was good to go. I am not saying my dog being that upset was the employees fault, but I dont care who you are you dont pull a small dog by a collar/leash thing around their neck, and I fid appreciate them not putting her in the back. But now apparently i am unable to take koko there any longer as i cant schedule an appt at all. I will never return to petsmart for any reason. read more

I took my dog in to get groomed, as I've done many times before. The grooming is Meh, ok. Nothing super great, nothing super disappointing. However, the last time she was groomed, they clipped her toe nail. They did not tell me this when I picked her up. I then took her to my office, and her toe nail bled everywhere. I grabbed a wet towel to try and stop the bleeding, to no avail. I then rushed her to the vet, where they were able to bandage her up and get the bleeding to stop. I called the grooming department to let them know. The lady I spoke with did not care. She was not the least bit apologetic or sympathetic to the situation. Had she apologized, or offered anything, I would have been appreciative, and I would have continued to use them to groom my dog. This was not the case. I will never take my dog here again. I'd rather spend more money to know that my dog is in good hands. read more

Brought my dog in to get groomed and am so disappointed! :( i have a long hair chihuahua/papillion mix and it is 40 degrees in the morning's here now. She did have some mats behind her ear and in front of her chest (that could of been brushed out after bathed) the ears always get bad, but after talking to someone they told me she would look best with a 5 when i kind of wanted to go with a 7 because it is too cold for her otherwise. (I stated this concern) we are heading to winter after all. I did see another dog getting trimmed with a 5 and asked if my dog would look that low and was told no, he looks like this because he is old. she will be back to her normal length in 2-3 weeks. so with that i agreed to have her cut that short. I went to pick her up and welp, she looks like its summer time. She's bald AND she got nicked on the back of her leg :( The guy at the counter that handed her to me was the same person that took her in and my intial reaction was nooo that is too short, and he was like oh is it? i will make a note of it that you don't like the 5. He handed me the receipt and gave me my dog. I walked to the register and was so upset that I asked to speak to a manager about it and was not happy with any of the results and all i got told was well, i spoke to such and such and he told me that she was matted and needed to go that short. I paid the $54 dollar bill and i walked out soooo disappointed and upset. Before anyone asks me, yes, they did show me the chart with the cut too and I was like well that feels short, but the guy was like well with the matting she has on her ears those areas are going to be short and that would look best. I should of gone with my first instinct. ugh, i haven't gotten her groomed in over a year...figured a cut would be needed with the nail grinding. Never again! I have had such great experience with PetSmart, i purchase all my pets items there and even my cat's specialty food because of the great experience. Petco groomers not so much...really didn't think I would be so upset and there wasn't even an im sorry is there anything i can do to make it right....nope nothing....and Not to mention it was $54 for a 3-4lbs dog! if i knew how to post pictures i would! read more

I brought my 3 year old mini Australian shepherd in to be washed and cut. I had a team member named Courtney take care of him. She was terrific! So kind and gentle with Mike. His cut was exactly what I had specified and she even had some nice tips as to what looks the most to breed standard for him. He smelled amazing for weeks after! I recently purchased a very expensive ($250) aquarium filter from the Reno Petsmart location. Unfortunately after a month the filter started acting up and making a lot of noise from the motor. After I searched for a solution online, I found that other people have had this unfixable problem with this filter and I decided it would be best to purchase an entirely different filter. After I looking over customer reviews it looked as though the best filter for me to get for my aquarium was not available at Petsmart, so I decided to purchase my new filter elsewhere, and return the defective one to the Reno Petsmart. Unfortunately I could not find my receipt when I looked for it and decided to call customer service number to ask about it. The customer service rep told me the store manager could look up my receipt if I had the date, and purchase amount of my item. Since I purchased the filter on my credit card, and it was the only item I purchased that day, I simply took my statement into the Reno Petsmart so they could look up the receipt. When I walked in and talked to the sales associate at the register, he informed me that they do not have the ability to look up receipts, and that it was "A violation of customers privacy to look up a customers receipt that was purchased with a credit card." At this point I told him that his customer service phone rep said that the manager had the ability to do it. He then very rudely said "I'll call him up here but he won't be able to do anything for you" When the manager arrived I explained to him my situation with the filter. This time the manager said he had the ability to look up the receipt but only for a week after the item was purchased. When I said the customer service rep told me otherwise, he said "I don't know why they would tell you that because that is simply not true, He then said he "could only return items under 50 dollars without a receipt". I offered to show him my credit card statement as proof that I purchased the item and that it was within there return policy timeframe and he said "Your credit card statement isn't proof, and I can't help you, and you are holding up the line for other customers" At this point I was dumfounded at the lack of customer service and professionalism by both the associate and the store manager and took the filter and left the store. In the parking lot I called up the customer service number to ask how to rectify this situation, hoping that they could call the store and get this situation settled. When I talked to the rep, they apologized for my experience and told me that the managers only have the ability to look up receipts for two weeks after a purchase (This was now the 4th different response I've gotten about this). They did say however that they have a tech department that could look up my receipt and the lady took down all my information (date, purchase price, last 4 digits of my credit card, store that I purchased it from, my email, and home address) She said that they would be able to find my receipt and email me a copy in up to 7 business days. At this point I realized that in 3 days I would be past there return policy, and the rep assured me that the store would be able to return the item after the 60 day return policy because I had to wait for customer service to look it up. After 7 business days I hadn't seen a receipt so I called the customer service line back and got a different answer that it takes 7-10 business days to look up a receipt. After 10 days I still didn't get a receipt, so I called the customer service line again. They said they would have to re submit it and it would take another 7-10 days... at this point I couldn't wait any longer and be told any more lies about what was going to happen. Now I have to call my credit card company and have them do a charge back on my card. I've worked in retail and customer service most of my life. I am fully aware that the manager at the Petsmart could have taken care of my situation and taken my filter back. They then would have been able to ship the filter back to the manufacturer and been taken care of. I had proof on my credit card statement that the purchase was made, and this should have been a non-issue. I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service of Petsmart. Their employee's were rude, unhelpful, and each one gave me a different answer to my situation. Its amazing that in this day of modern technology, the store couldn't look up my receipt. Or that the tech department would make me wait 7-10 days to look up a receipt and then not get back to me. I was treated poorly, given a run around, lied to, and now have to go through the lengthy process of doing a charge back on my credit card, which will in turn cost Petsmart time and money. Its terrible that a company won't stand behind the products it sells. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

What was I thinking when I decided to take my dogs to PetSmart to be groomed. The groomer continued to elbow my dog then grabbed her muzzle and tossed her head back to shave he neck. She had bald spots all over. The groomer truly mistreated my dog. I was watching from down the aisle where she couldn't see me. After awhile I just couldn't take it any longer and asked to have my dog back immediately. I paid for the service even thought the dog was only 3/4 done and will NEVER return again. Nor will I ever buy anything from that store again. I highly recommend you spy on your dog if you choose to go to this location. read more

PetSmart is a huge supported of the local SPCA and Humane Society. They have a great staff and a huge inventory. Make sure to stop by on weekends to see pets up for adoption! read more

If I could vote ZERO for these groomers I would .I took my dog to get groomed and told them not to shave him just clean him up a bit. They had me sign a waiver just "in case" they need to clip him "a little". When I went to get him he was shaved all over unevenly and his face looked like they just took a pair of scissors to it. My poor little dog looked like a patchwork quilt. It was the worst grooming I have ever seen and he was so scared I couldn't believe it. Not only did this happen, I had brought him in with a coat that cost me over $40 and they lost it. They tried to tell me I took it with me when I left the store and I said no I didn't. So they looked at the cameras and saw I was telling the truth. The store manager told me to go pick out any coat in the store that I wanted so I picked one that I will never use again as it was so cheaply made. DON'T TAKE YOUR DOGS THERE!!! read more

This is my go to for pet food and treats! They have a wide variety for any pet species, whether it be a dog or cat, or an iguana or bird. Their prices here are reasonable and cheaper than grocery stores. I come here to buy blue buffalo food for our dogs, toys for my green cheek conure, and crickets for my tarantula. My high point for coming here is the dog training classes! Ashley is the trainer there and she is fantastic, very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. Try this place out if you're looking for an abundance of pet supplies or looking for a nice groomer or dog trainer! read more

A friendly place to find your pet's needs. They have everything you want. I have been coming here for my dog's and my turtle's food and accessories. They have a big selection so you can find what is right for you. I recommend researching your pet's food before coming so you know what to look for. If you have not done any research, the friendly staff can help you pick the right food for your pet. They also have grooming inside the store that is in the back. If you are looking to adopt a new friend, they have adoptions many weekends. Prices vary but they usually have good sales and discounts. The quality of the food is better than what most stores offer. Come here if you are looking for good selections or if you want a new friend. read more

I went into this store a few times in one week as I was staying with a friend in Reno and I brought my little Snowball with me. Anyway, not only do employees constantly walk around asking if you've been helped, but they take their time to make sure you purchase the right products for your pets needs. I also took my little Snowball to be bathed at their salon and they did an excellent job with that (it was also pretty affordable). Snowball loved sitting in the cart as I strolled the aisles. Overall, it was a great experience for us both. read more

I called the store to ask about a problem I had with a coupon, and was hung up on. No big deal, stuff happens. After calling back I was hung up on again before I even finished my question. Whether intentional or not, as a business no customer should be hung up on twice for any reason. Very annoying and unprofessional. Not to mention almost every time I've shopped here about half of the employees seem as if they couldn't care less, and most people can't answer anything beyond the most simple and vague questions, saying they don't know or provide false answers, without bothering to ask another employee. Just overall not the way a business should run if wants to provide a pleasant, informative experience that draws people back again and again. Was recently in this store to inquire about grooming services and was very impressed! I couldn't help but notice the lady at the table in the front (didn't get her name but she had a distinctly southern accent). The dog she was working on appeared to be very nervous and afraid and she was so patient and gentle. She talked to the dog in a very soothing tone and was very encouraging and praised the dog a lot. The place was very clean and tidy and didn't smell like wet or dirty dog at all. The whole store is very neat and clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. read more

Took my dog back in Mid October to get groomed, and came home with canine lice! Paid $100 to get my dog CLEAN and instead came home with an infested dog who has given my two other dogs the lice as well. After SEVERAL vet trips, medicated shampoos, and medications for more than one dog, my $100 groom job turned into hundreds of dollars worth of treatments for my poor irritated dogs. Thanks Petsmart, teach your employees how to clean the grooming tools properly! It's not that hard, I work with dogs and cats and clean PROPERLY AND THOROUGHLY after every single animal!! Very friendly here but wish they had full dog suit for my pup. Also they require dogs on leash. Not normal for a pet store!

Really good and convenient store for pet food and supplies, as well as small pets. I have gotten pet mice and some fish here before. The mice are really well socialized and more expensive (just slightly) than Petco - you can tell they are bred to be pets, not feeder mice. The fish section is ok, but that is one area Petco does better in. The dog and cat food is always stocked with the high quality brands that we buy for our pets. They also have lower quality food, so its great for everyone. The staff is surprisingly knowledgeable about their products too. It seems they aren't just there for "a job" they actually like what they do and know what they are talking about and recommending. Staff has always been very nice and helpful. I see they also to dog training there, which I wish we would have known about, as we had a not so great experience with the woman that trained our dog at Petco. It is also really fun to see the little cat adoption area. Very tempting to adopt them all! They also host dog adoptions as well, but by the time I end up at the store after work hours they have usually already packed that up and brought the dogs back to the rescue facility they come from. read more

Man, I wish this was a mom and pop pet store! The manager here is absolutely amazing and he goes above and beyond to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Hard worker! Also, Will should have his own reptile store! He gave me so much information on our geckos that I never knew and spent like 20 minutes eloping me to be the best gecko owner out there! I'd hate to write a negative review...but I was so upset and disgusted with the way business is done.. we purchased a parakeet two days ago from this location(was very skeptical since I would rather purchase from local/smaller business), but I our parakeet needed a friend and was in desperate need of a parakeet, the parakeet seemed ill, she wasn't eating nor drinking, so I called Petsmart (not to seek a refund) but to address the situation for the parakeets well being. Spoke to a man, and explained our situation, he seemed very uninterested in our conversation and advised that we would have to bring the bird in for a refund..and repurchase the bird once she was better....he said she would be seen by a vet within a week...I expressed to him that she was not eating nor drinking...this animal needed immediate care...to wait a week for this poor animal to be seen by a vet was absurd...he never apologized nor did he show remorse..I then asked if there was a supervisor on duty and he responded HE WAS the store manager...I was disgusted by the way the whole situation was handled..if he would have showed slight remorse towards the whole situation then perhaps it would have been a bit better...and perhaps this is "STORE POLICY" regardless I don't ever plan on giving this company business...pets don't come first...no matter how small the animal may be... needless to say the parakeet showed improvements the next day..but sadly passed away..we called to advise them about the bird and although it was only 25 dollars I was so upset about how they do business and was hoping to get a refund for the bird..we buried the poor bird and they advised to bring her in so that she can be placed in a plastic bag in the back room and then she would be picked up to "cremate", which I'm sure she just ended up in the trash considering they don't care about the living creatures, yet alone the deceased ones.... read more

Worst experience ever. We made a grooming appointment to 10:30am and when we arrived, we were told it would be 3-4 hours. Why? I checked back in around 12:30pm and was told my dog hadn't even been started on and it would be "a lot" longer. Funny that a dog that came in after her was already being worked on... Long story short, she finally was done around 2:45pm. The cut is very uneven with long hairs sticking out. I'm not sure she even got a bath! Not a good experience for everyone involved. I will definitely not be using their grooming services again and am not sure I will continue to shop there either. read more

horrible. horrible. got the works for my border collie : a tough dog mind you. . and he came back with bloody claws for a month. called the manager was like, yo , your grinder person took off a lil too much, still bleeding three weeks later. they apologized said they would refund the appt. after they looked up our account over the phone. but it never happened. went inside, talked to another manager who refused to refund anything because he wasn't the manager i talked to , and looked puzzled because he said it would never have been possible to refund over the phone...............would had to have brought the card inside. I live in Tahoe, lil disgusted never wanted to step back inside that place. those managers are the slimy profit--protective-kind . This is why some corporate sucks. Its a percentages game to them. totally gross gross all the way around. don't spend your money here. don't take your beloved here. Boo. read more

I took my 9 lb Yorkie to Petsmart on 06/23/2015 to get groomed. I've taken my dog there numerous times and only had one bad cut. So I paid the $60 for the extra cream conditioner, teeth cleaning...the works. Picked up my little guy which was on a Saturday and he didn't eat till Wednesday. He threw up bile all over my bed and this wasn't just a small amount. I don't know what happened at Petsmart but I will NEVER take my dog there to be groomed AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!. I don't know if he was waterboarded or what but it's been a week and a half and he's still not totally recovered. I saw a clip of a women who also took her small dog to Petsmart and when she went to pick him up he couldn't walk. He had fallen off the table and broke his hip. I also saw camera footage of a Petsmart employee pulling on a large dogs legs to get him off of the table...VERY DISTURBING!!!!!!!. Groomers at Petsmart are not regulated and they require no licensing. BEWARE and keep your animals safe because they don't need to be abused. read more
