One of the best, if not the best petsmart locations out there. I've been coming here for at least 10 years and I'll continue to come here for the friendly customer service and how great they are about returns. I'm not sure what's up with those one star rage reviews for the store, but this petsmart certainly doesn't deserve them. Not only am I able to find people quickly, but they're happy to help me. Not only that, but I've had a few returns that I didn't even think would be returnable and they were, plus the cashier was super nice about it. I've shopped for fish, cats and dogs. So I've dealt with a variety of staff and they're always great and informative. I learned tons, like why no one should ever use a retractable leash, unless your dog is trained or docile. Don't want it breaking and having your dog run into traffic or not paying attention and your dog goes too far. The cat rescue in the back is also fantastic. The staff are friendly and the cats are adorable. We've had our dog groomed here a number of times, they're always crazy friendly and great at what they do. She comes out like a perfect pretty little dog. We only ever take her here to get groomed, they're great. It's an awesome petsmart, I wouldn't listen to the angry reviews out there, cause it's a great place. read more

Ok, shout out to this PetSmart location that I've been shopping at for my pets for years. It's one of the stores in this plaza that I feel has stood the test of time. Training: I brought my doodle here for training, and I cannot recommend Zena's classes enough. I have referred a few friends to her classes as well. She is so calming, direct but not harsh, and at the end of the day - she's training you the owner more than the dog. My dog Cooper is so well behaved and I can say I owe it to Zena for instilling good habits in him (ok and maybe me too) through her training classes. Facility and staff: This store is always clean, organized, and the staff is always friendly. The cashiers greet you and your pet as if they see you everyday. It's certainly memorable and makes you want to return. Grooming: The groomers at this location are always so pleasant. They are normally quite busy so I book in advance. If they have a cancellation, they will call you to see if you're interested in coming sooner, which I like because I'm always eager to get the groom done. This is definitely one of the better Petsmart locations. The staff members are so friendly and helpful! The store is very clean and well-organized. I love hanging out with the cats that are up for adoption. The volunteers are so friendly and helpful. The cashiers are also very friendly and helpful. It's been a few years, but when we had our dog groomed here, they were always very caring and did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location of Petsmart!! read more

Took my dog for a Pawdicure Plus Package session. The service was fast and the groomer told me that my dog is a 'sweetheart'. We got home all happy until I looked at his paws - two of his finger nails were bleeding. First of all my dog has clear finger nails (it's not like he have black nails that are hard to see), I don't think any competent groomer could possibly make this mistake. Second, the groomer did not mention about the bleeding finger nails at all when I picked him up after the session. I was very disturbed and angry to find that my dog's nails have been bleeding when we got home. Will never be using the PetSmart grooming ever again. read more

The aquarium section at this PetSmart needs improvement in their maintenance and customer service areas. I've been here a couple of times and it seems like they're running off schedule with cleaning the fish tanks properly. Aquarium plants here look undesirable as they were full of algae, had an undesirable look to them, and were arranged in a way as though they were just simply dumped into the tanks. I'd purchased a tank online for pick-up a week ago and visited the store to pick it up. When I opened up the box and examined the tank near the cashier, I realized that the tank was previously used before and was returned and was missing the filter cartridge and a plastic clip for the lid. It was clearly used by someone else before as there were water stains and the packaging for the individual components were missing. The main packaging box was clearly damaged on one side with a large dent in it. If this was returned, why did the employees not properly examine the product for missing components? I asked for a return but they insisted on looking for the missing parts by opening up other tanks to look for a replacement. The supervisor at the store displayed an insincere attitude and seemed bothered about my situation. I managed to get my return in the end but I do hope that they won't be putting the same tank back on the shelf for someone else to purchase again! read more

This place went through a lot of renovations lately and they made it really nice. They recently added a second huge cat adoption center, they have a groomer in there, dog training classes ( I heard on certain days it's for free ), reptiles, birds, hamster, rats and all those small animals, big fish section and of course all the other things a normal larger size pet store should have. Very nice dog/cat collar section and you can make also very nice customized dog tags. read more

KARMIC KUDOS to PetSmart for generously giving up retail space to the local pet adoption volunteer unit. Yesterday I found a 5-inch long kitten on the side of a road and put it in my car to take home and decide what to do for it. However, it "lost" itself somewhere in my vehicle and had to stay there all night (with the windows slightly rolled down). I went online and found out there are two PetSmarts that take in stray cats. The next morning the kitten was sleeping on the back seat and her eyes were crusted shut. I washed her eyes, put her in a box and drove to PetSmart in Oakville and I am confident the kitten will be healthy and find a good home. Thank you PetSmart, this animal lover really appreciates you. What a load of crap, I bought Little Cesar from Pet Mart because they had a coupon on them for $3.00 off. The coupon is underneath the plastic and you can't see it. So anyway I bought 5 boxes of them I kept taking them off a putting them in my cupboard I took them out to use them and that's when I was told that they expired Dec. 31, 2017 so why are they still on the selfs in Feb. 20, 2018 this company does nothing to protect their customers. read more

I had a great experience buying a new hamster. The worker who helped me the most is Clay. He was very nice and explained many things about hamsters to me, he also had a sense of humour, which is great when getting a new pet, as you can be stressed. I first went to the store in Heartland but came here because they had an abundance of hamsters. This store also had a wide variety of different animals. I recommend this, if you don't find anything in heartland, or if you live close. read more

The groomer injured our puppy - Pet Smart, Oakville,ON The groomer cut the inside ear of our puppy and there was a deep gash. The wound was infected and the puppy had fever and had to be put on antibiotics. The best part of this is that the groomer did not make any mention of the injury when we picked up the puppy after the groomimg. We complained but to no effect but only had to pay up a fat bill for the vet and antibiotics. We would be seriously thinking about our next visit to this store. I have seen a couple of dogs go in for grooming whose fur were a little matted, they will take him but call the owners right back and tell you to pick them up because they have no patience to groom your dog. they usually only prefer to groom dogs who just need a trim or a nail cut.. if its your dog's first grooming and he squirms a little, they will stop and call you to pick it up as well because they have no patience. read more

Brought my little pug into this store to look for sweaters. There were 2 Cat adoption units around the store. Couldn't have been met with more hostility by the lady from "Nine Cat Lives Rescue", scolding me to take my dog away from the cat. There was a barrier in between the two and my dog was uninterested in going around to sniff there anyway. Scolded me twice, the first time without even giving me the opportunity to either a) walk away, or b) shorten the leash on my dog. Totally unprofessional, if this was a person I was dealing with for adoption, I would not adopt from this agency. read more

On Jan 4, 2013 I have scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog at 0800. I was received by a groomer named, Irina, and took details regarding the grooming style. I have mentioned it was second visit to that specific Pet Smart and my last visit the lady who groomed my dog did very well and I would like the same cut, but slightly shorter and shaved around the penis and rectum. While we were talking my dog had urinated several times, I have walked him prior to the visit knowing he will be indoors for a while, but he also had his tail between his hind legs. Knowing my dog he was scared and was very hesitant. Irina, the groomer proceeded to state "YOU DIDN'T WALK HIM OUT DID YOU?!" and spoke to my dog in a childish manner stating "WHERE ARE YOU HIDING YOUR URINE?!" I was then very floored and totally disgusted but I kept my composure and asked if she was going to be my dogs groomer. At this point my dog was shaking like a leaf and as she approaches him, he hides between my legs. Irina replies to me that she will be grooming my dog and followed with this remark without any hesitation "IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG? YOU CAN RESCHEDULE YOU KNOW?!" I proceeded with, "He is not himself so no I will not get him groomed today." She asked if I wanted to reschedule and I followed with "No." and left the store. I then called the store shortly after to speak with a Grooming Manager named, Nikki, who was nice and apologetic. Anyhow, I have never had issues with Pet Smart. I have groomed my dog at the Heartland Mississauga and Scarborough Pet Smart before and had no issues there. It is just this groomer who was inappropriate and unprofessional. I deal with a lot of personalities in my career and I, as being the dog owner, knows my dog well. My dog reacted appropriately to her negative energy and ultimately led to his anxiety and urinating on the spot. I am appalled by the behavior of a supposedly "pet groomer" who looked like she has had experience. I am not generalizing the store and its performance, I would just like the public be aware of this groomer and any groomer for this matter. Read your pet's body language. It is important that you have a calm and assertive energy so your pet does not feed of your energy. Clearly, my dog was feeding off of this groomers bad, bad vibe and turned out he was very right. read more

But here they act like they are doing you a favor and they could not care less about your business. I have read way too many horror stores about the pets treatment and wasn't sure to believe it until one day i walked in. I had noticed dirty cages, lack of water/food, and even dead pets still in their cages. I would never buy a pet from here knowing thats how they are treated. read more

Not long ago I visited this location, I'm not from the area but I was coming to visit some friends who live in the area. My friends have 3 dogs, 2 rottweilers and a German shepherd. I went to the store to pick up some toys/food for the dogs. One thing I noticed right away was that two employees were outside in front of the store smoking. My friend was looking for a certain type of dog food, he was unable to find it so he ask the cashier for help. There wasn't anyone on floor to ask for assistant but the store didn't seem busy as well. The cashier had to page for a manager, 5min later the two girls standing out in front of the store had come in and one of them happen to be the manger. The food was out of stock. As we were done with our shopping and lined up at the one cashier that was open, the cashier page for backup about 4 times and no one showed, as we got closer to cash out, the one manager that we saw before was coming from outside again (from smoking i suppose). I ask the cashier if smoke breaks are a norm . She said yes, and that waiting for a manager does take awhile cause sometimes smoking breaks seem to be more important then assisting customers/employees, she also said that working 5hrs a day she never gets her 15min break shes entitled to and the managers at least go for a smoke every 15-20min. My friend who lives in the area says he notices that this happens as he is a regular. The managers should be reevaluated at their positions. read more

I went into this store last week to pick up some more fish food/filters. I purchased my goldfish at this store about a year ago - no complaints there. Staff was helpful and the fish tank that they were all in was clean and the fish all seemed healthy (and my black moor is still super healthy!) however last week when I went I think was the last time I will go here - I passed by the fish section and noticed a dead goldfish lying at the bottom of the tank. There was another goldfish eating the dead fish. At first I couldn't believe that was happening but when I looked closer I could clearly see that this fish had eaten the majority of the dead fish's fins. So clearly this hadn't just happened and all day a fish is lying there dead while others pick at it and employees don't think that's a bit scary for children? I wanted to cry and I'm in my 20s. Beside that fish tank was another fancy goldfish tank and there was one fish struggling for his life to swim to the top but clearly it was ill - the stomach was extremely swollen and its eyes were almost clear. After about a minute I watched it fall down from halfway up the tank onto its back. I couldn't watch anymore so I walked away but I'm sure it died that day. I just don't understand how the employees walk around the fish department all day and don't even notice something so horrendous. I know they buy in quantity and not so much quality when it comes to fish but at least remove the dead/sick fish from the tank so people don't have to see that. I refrained from telling an employee because I was so upset that I didn't want to say anything rude but now that it's been a week I felt the need to draw attention to this. read more
