I'm in downtown Oakville a lot, and it's kinda neat to have a dog / pet store right smack downtown.
As far as a pet store goes, I'm say Bark and Fitz is decidedly ' upscale ' - if that's possible for a pet store - given it's location in pricey downtown Oakville, and it's decor and prices.
On the plus side, it's in a great central location. The staff is always courteous, friendly and eager to help. And on occasion when I have my dog in tow - he's welcome to browse the store to his heart's content. The decor and layout of the store is sort of a minimalist chic that's ideally suited for downtown Oakville. So, as expected, they carry a large selection of ' gourmet ' fresh / bakes treats for dogs you won't see many other places. They sorta cater to dog lovers in the same way Starbucks caters to coffee lovers.
On the not so plus side, downtown paid parking can be a pain at times. Also, given it's a relatively smaller store, the selection of foods for your dog may not be as extensive as some other larger stores. I also found basic things like some tarter bones, training treats, poop bags, food and food storage items to be noticeably more expensive than elsewhere in the Oakville/ Burlington area...but again...it's downtown Oakville.
A nice little shop that may not have everything under the sun a dog owner would want , but it certainly does have a a lot of unique things to definitely keep Fido happy...and wanting to go back.
All that being said, any discerning dog owner would probably find a trip to Bark and Fitz a worthwhile one to make - just to check it out if nothing else. . read more
