This place really pissed me off. I usually only shop at small boutique pet stores for Orijin Original as this is what all of my many ferrets over the years have always ate. While staff at the small stores have always given exceptional Customer Service - this Big Box store was the complete opposite. Funny, when I Googled Orijin, Pet Smart showed up in the top of the search results. I didn't think they carried it, but I was across the street, it was getting late so it seemed reasonable. When I got to the Cat section, the lady (middle aged long light brown hair in a pony tail) was there. I asked her if they carried it and she said no. I asked her what would be comparable and she just shrugged. No suggestions, no offer to help me look, nothing. I searched for something without peas and after going up and down the isles, I asked her about that. She just kinda mumbled something and then proceeded to chat with another staff member who had just appeared. Finally, I asked if I could get a sample. At this point I really didn't want to pay 30-40$ for something they just needed for one night. She claimed they didn't have ANY. Surprise Surprise! Funny how any other Pet Store always has them! Then as I'm about to leave I see that there is a Small Animal section she didn't bother to tell me about or God Forbid show me! No worries - I checked myself only to find that they had one single bag of Ferret Food (Marshall which isn't the best and they don't like it anyway) Then saw they only had ONE other Ferret item - a highly overpriced Hammock! However if you were any other small animal from Rats to Hedgehogs - they got you covered !!! Never Again !!! read more

Grooming Review: Got my Maltshi groomed for bath and brush, which comes with sanitary area's shaved and trimmed. But they didn't shave sanitary areas and or trim face. Paid $61. Not Worth it. Also customer service was soo rude when we asked why they didn't trim. read more

-Groomer review only- I won't take my dog here anymore, the staff are just so angry, disgruntled and off putting. Upon walking into the groomer and not having said anything yet they are seething and foul. I don't trust that anyone that angry will take proper care of a living being. It's almost a joke how unhinged the angry cabbage patch doll was when I came i today, I think they watched monsters inc too many times and idolize Roz too much haha. We've been to 3 different locations, and this is our favourite. Lots of free parking, and the store is big, clean, and bright. The selection is excellent, but they do run out of some popular items sometimes (furminator brush, car harness, etc.) so you have to wait a week or go to another store for those. We had puppy training classes with Derrick, and he was great. Our relationship with our corgi puppy has changed greatly because of the helpful lessons that teach us how to properly communicate with and what to expect from our puppy. These classes are worth every penny. We've had two puppy baths here as well, and our puppy did not come out traumatized which is nice. He looks nice and neat and the price is great. read more

Where have all the fish stores gone? And why is it that most of the pet stores now cater to the furry pets and not too much for aquatic pets? Some PetSmarts are larger than others therefore may carry more marine pets, but in general ... the fish section is just a small section in the corner of the store. This PetSmart is no different. The prices are moderate, but the quality is questionable The staff are friendly and helpful. They do need a few more people on staff though. Some times it's down right impossible to find someone to get some help from. A little frustrating to see 3 - 4 cashiers standing around chatting because there is no one in line ready to pay. Yet waiting for assistance in the fish section is 5 families long. read more

This location is always very staffed with the most friendly and often very knowledgeable associates. Over time they have phased out some less common critter supplies.I can't find much specific to my ferrets, however, their cat and dog supplies have a great selection to choose from. PetSmart doesn't seem to carry some higher-end brands, but their prices are great and the sales can't be beat. Went in today for one item and walked out with two others at a steal of a deal. I like how clean the store is and how welcoming the staff is when you bring in your dog. We'll stocked at this location. We've had our dog in for nail clipping and will certainly return. There was a little slip-up, literally, when my dog freaked out when the groomers tried to get her to mount the grooming table. Bit they quickly understood her anxiety and clipped her nails on the floor. The groomers were fantastic and very good at their craft. Our German Shepherd will be a regular for nails. I docked one star because I still need to visit another pet store for a few of our pet care needs, but a s a whole PetSmart does very well. read more

The variety of cat and dog foods and supplies dwarfs any other store in town, and the fish section is easily as big as the only dedicated aquarium store North Van used to have. The fish selection has been dialled back during the pandemic, but I look forward to it being as good as it used to be some day. I also appreciate that everyone who's ever helped me has seemed knowledgeable about aquarium keeping, something that originally surprised me in a big box store. read more

don't go to this Petsmart location, the manager is rude, disrespectful and insensitive and inhumane..... she doesn't care about the animals or the people who come in to the store..... she laughed at me and walked away from me in the middle of our conversation when I told her about my pet that just pas away and I got him from this location only 6 days ago and I provided pictures of my pet from the day I got him and for the 6 days he was alive and I took a picture of him passed away, so I could show Petsmart and I bro the receipt and the rude manager just laughed at me and walked away.....she needs to be fired.... This Petsmart location is the WORST. I can't believe PetSmart would hire someone like her, the blonde woman in the picture with the tattoos on her arm, i have been to this location many times before and I bought my first budgie from this location, and I got 2 bird cages, tons of food, toys and accessories.... I even gave 5 stars every time..... but after what happened last night I will never go back to that location and they need to fire the woman in these pictures read more

All my pets died! every single pet ive got from here has died in 2 months or less (fish, bird) and it was to depressing to go get a new bird after 61 days of perfctly caring for it just died. i know thats just my personal review every thing else is fine. btw, dont buy the birds from here go to a better place than this. read more

It was my first time in a very long time going to this location. I went here because they had the hamsters available that I've been looking for. I usually adopt from an experienced breeder, but none are available in my area at the time. I'm sorry to say that I didn't get a friendly service from the associate (a guy) at the store who helped me getting the pet. He didn't smile and seemed a bit rude and grouchy. I wanted a male hamster, but he said they only keep females. He closed it before asking if I still want it. I decided to take it, so he opened it again. Later, I thanked him after he brought the box over to the cashier but he ignored me and kept walking away. Now I feel like the purchase wasn't a good decision. I don't think pets are refundable. read more

PetSmart is 5 star. Staff are helpful, friendly , grooming salon has friendly pet loving groomers who know their jobs well. Kudos to the staff, I once...I accidentally left my dog training pads on the hood of my car and drove off. I called to ask if someone turned in items I described and I was told to call in 10 mins, he will check the parking lot. Indeed, I called back and the staff found the box and told me to pick it up at cashier anytime. Amazing! read more

I am adopting a VOKRA cat who is being fostered at this Petsmart! That's really the only reason I visited. I love supporting the local one-off pet stores in East Van, so I'm not really a Petsmart shopper. But, you know, you can't beat the selection in this massive multiplex. Plus, I didn't realize this but they don't actually have ANY kitty mill kitties - they're all VOKRA. And sometimes they have sales that the smaller shops couldn't afford to have. AND there's a great selection of Martha Stewart branded pet costumes*! *Gross. read more

Using their website I perused a poor selection of cat posts and was advised on the site that one post wasn't available at this location however when I called I was told they had a huge selection and we're sold out only on one model. When my friend and I arrived and walked the store until the section was spotted we found the post "not available" at that location right in front of us (two actually) and after comparing with the others decided on that. This post is $30 off today and is in a box - requiring assembly - which is perfect to take home and configure how I please. It would have been nice to deal with a live person in the store beyond the cashier however it seems an option less likely nowadays in these bigger stores. read more

I purchased a Citronella anti bark collar from them less than 6 months ago and it stopped working within the first 4 months. the unit was almost $150, so a fairly expensive item. I tried to return or exchange the item and was told that all returns have to be done through the manufacturer and not the store. Furthermore the store only has a 60 day warranty on all their products. They refused to provide any service despite my making monthly food and treat purchases there. Extremely dissatisfied with their "customer service" and apparent lack of desire to stand behind their products. I will not shop there again. read more

I had a great experience at pet smart with Alex. I came for a filter for my fish tank I bought wasn't there and Alex accommodated me with the correct filter in a very friendly and thorough manner. I was able to get the filter I needed for my fish tank which is great cause tonight was the only night this was possible. Thanks pet smart! read more

I would like to give a 4 star for the service and the staff's attitude, whenever I come in ,I always feel very welcomed!! The only thing for them is although they have everything you need for your pets, they might have lack of selections for the product. sometimes I can only find one brand for the product i need, but i would really love to have variety choices to compare . over all this is a helpful and very pet and human friendly store!! read more

Derrick the dog trainer the rudest person EVER on the phone, talked to me like I was an idiot! NEVER had anyone with such an attitude on the phone and supposed to be a PetSmart representative. The guy has a real chip on his shoulder and NO respect for female customers. FIRE HIM! read more

Absolutely horrified at what they did to my dog today. Besides the half ass grooming job they completely butchered his whiskers to nothing. I think his name is Alex, Gentleman in the aquatic area. Fantastic!! Always the most helpful and informative. My fish and I are most grateful to him. Perfect customer service. Had purchased canned healthy cat food, expensive brand as my new cat liked it. then she changed her mind, and I tried Blue Wilderness and she liked it better. My son bought his first pet-hamster there. Clean environment, good services.

Do I have to give one star??? TERRIBLE customer service. Took me 4 phone calls to speak with someone, was told it's walk in nail trim only, and have tried going 2 times only to be told no one can do it (even though there's no dogs there???) definitely recommend Burnaby location! read more

If it was possible to give zero stars I would have. The people here are friendly enough but have no idea what they're doing. Brought my dog here to get his nails trimmed. We've been bringing him to the Richmond location for the last year and a bit and it has been great so we expected the same service. We dropped off my dog and walked around the store and waited for them to finish. About 5 minutes into the service I heard my dog squealing and when I looked back into the grooming salon the groomer was grabbing my 70 pound dog and trying to just manhandle him to keep him still. It was really clear that my dog was super distressed and they just kept trying to hold him down forcefully. I have never seen him like that with a groomer before but thought maybe we just caught a bad moment and gave the groomers the benefit of the doubt. We returned 5 minutes later to find that they had taken my dog off the table and he was tied to the ground. They informed us that they were not about to perform the service for my dog and that he was being really difficult and they would give us a refund. However we looked at my dog's hind leg and they had actually cut off way more of his dew claw than they should have and he was bleeding all over. Like no wonder he was squealing and being difficult! They hurt him and then after that they tried to just force him to stop moving by holding him still. These people have no idea how to deal with animals. I feel terrible that I let that happen to my dog. I should never have left him there. Don't let your dog anywhere near the groomers here. read more

WORSE customer experience EVER We were regular customers at this store for years. Tonight my husband went to the store to exchange a package of dog food. We wanted to try a new food for our dog but she didn't like it (we have our dog for almost 2 years now and we USED TO get her food only from this store). When my husband was exchanging the item, the night MANAGER, a guy called KAI approached him and asked for his receipt. My husband said: I don't keep paper copies but I always get your receipts in email. I don't have wifi right now but you can check in your system by my phone number. I'm a regular customer and you can see the history of my previous shoppings. The MANAGER said: NO, the one we have, is store copy. you have to have your copy. He was VERY RUDE. Didn't want to listen to anything. Even his body language was aggressive. He didn't even stay to finish the conversation with my husband or let him explain. He just bombarded him with his rude words and left. After he left, the store staff who knew my husband told him to use their WIFI. One of the staff helped my husband and found the email of the receipt and showed it to the cashier to exchange the item. We always loved Petsmart and were regular customers. We bought several pets from them. Although the staff are very nice and supportive, after tonight's experience, we don't want to go to that store EVER again if they have a guy like KAI as the MANAGER!!! read more

Friendly staff who are always looking to help. Fair prices and comfortable environment for my pup.

I frequently go to this Petsmart to shop for my work which involves taking cares of a lot of birds and also for my dog. Never hard to find a parking spot which I really appreciate. They have everything I need 98% of the time and lots of selection. I was satisfied with the few times I took my Wheaton for a wash and trim. You get ereceipts... Lately I realized that I mixed up personal and work receipts (which I shredded and ereceipts deleted) and had to ask for a copies. One of them was at least a month old and not easy to retrieve. Jeff put extra time to help me and I am writing that this is a really good example of what good service is all about. read more

Friendly service. TERRIBLE knowledge and training. Took my border collie here for a haircut at about 1.5yrs old. They cut off all his "ear feathers" (the long wispy fur by the ears for border collies) which Don't EVER grow back!! They offered "next cut free". Are you crazy?! It took a lot just to get an apology, let alone my money back. They somehow tried to tell me that's what he was supposed to look like. Most people who work here have absolutely no training whatsoever. Do yourself and your animals a favour and STAY AWAY!! read more

Use o go there all the time. have gotten 2 rescue cats there. they use to have a nice female manager, she no longer. Went there today to buy some Pedigree dry dog food, had coupons, start looking at bags found a bag expiry date April 8,2018, plus had a coupon on outside of bag expire in 2017. Got up front the cashier his name was Derrick, was very rude, and didnt like idea we were using coupons. Overall this location in North Vancouver has gotten really bad for service, just cant believe things can be that bad read more

I went here as it was on my way home and my dogs and rabbits were running low on food. It's ridiculously expensive, especially as it's meant to be the wal-mart of pet stores. The small animals are kept in horrifying conditions. I saw 2 full sized guinea pigs share an area the size of a small fish tank. On it was a notice saying how responsible petsmart are for not selling 2 of the same sex?!? It would be responsible not to sell them at all or at least give them more space to move around. The animals all looked utterly depressed. One good thing Petsmart does is promote the adoption of cats and dogs but this all seems to be a front to earn them heart string points with consumers. If they really cared, they would promote the adoption of small animals as well rather than profiting from their misery. Animals die in shelters because they take away their potential homes by selling these animals instead. I hate to think where they get them from. Support smaller independent pet stores which don't sell animals and are cheaper too! read more

Ok I would give no stars if I could after my experience yesterday because I'm so very upset!!! I have taken both my dogs here and always had a great experience for the past 5 years but I noticed recently new people and not so friendly service! I took my dog in yesterday to have her typical bath and brush! I asked for two services to be add on one was nail polish because it's my dogs birthday and I thought I'd do something fun and the second is anal gland expression. Both were advertised as services however I was told they did not have nail polish and that she could not do a expression because the girl was new... That's when I should have just left but instead I left my dog. I also asked specifically if in and around my dogs tail could be cleaned since she has a deep tail pocket. I have never had a issue when I have asked for that before. Her appointment was at 2 pm and I was advised she would be done at 4 pm which is usually how long it takes, so I was very very surprised that I received a call at 3 pm telling me my dog was ready! By the way the groomer Isabel didn't seem like she really enjoyed her job. I ended up getting there by 430 because of traffic and also expecting to be there later but not without receiving another call from her, asking if I was going to pick up my dog? Like are you serious? Once I get there she brings her out only for me to find that first off her nails are not nearly as short as they get them usually and she did a terrible job of cutting them!! I asked why and another girl gave me a pretty lame excuse! I left, and paid and as I put her in the car I noticed that she still had poop around and under her tail I was so upset I walked back in to show the "other" girl whose name I believe was Danielle and she immediately took Bella back in and gave her a quickie 3 min spray down since she was dealing with another dog. My dog kept yellow g so I'm very scared that she took her frustration out on her. When I went home I also noticed her ears where not clean, she didn't even smell nice like she usually does!! A terrible experience!!!!! I am not happy and I would never ever go back there!! I don't trust them with my dog!! read more
