We have recently moved to North Vancouver from Alberta with our 22 month old toy poodle. After 3 mediocre groomings at another groomer on the north shore, we took Cobie to FurDoos and they gave him the best cut ever! They were patient when we arrived going over our preferences and we left him feeling very confident he was in good hands. I've known Liz for a very long time, starting when she worked at another groomers many years ago. I lost track of her when she left and was thrilled when I located her a few years later. She has always done an outstanding job for my dogs over the years and I trust her implicitly with my two dogs. My labradoodle has been going since she was a puppy and while going makes her nervous, Liz is always kind and gentle with her as she is with my senior lab. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

The thing that strikes me again and again is how calm the place always is. Lots of dogs there - big and small but not a circus or a crazy bark zone like other grooming places. Buyer beware! Liz seemed to convey that she was an expert and knew everything about grooming. Now I learn that a dog with a double coat (mixed breed) should not be cut short (nor shaved). My dog is a Pomeranian cross and if you cut their coat too short, it does not grow back naturally. It grows back mottled and stays this way. It is a few weeks later now and despite my combing, my baby looks scraggly. I sure hope this is not permanent. He was perfect before. Now every time I look at him, I want to cry. Also, a couple of days after the grooming, I had to take him to the vet to address a severe fungal infection (expense!). Although an infection can come from anywhere, the fact that it happened immediately following his grooming at Furdoos leads me to assume that's where he picked up from. He has NEVER had any type of issue/infection like this before. I am distraught... read more

I'm fairly sure I spoke to the owner this morning. She wasn't friendly or welcoming. Brought in my 6 month old puppy for grooming. Was questioned about whether she was groomed before ( and she was). I provided as much information on her. Apparently they ease the dogs into the process - which is fine. But wish we were given some guidance as a new customer a opposed to saying "yea not sure if we can help you. Try to come in August and let see". She really didn't want us there or try to help in anyway to book an appointment. I was also given a lecture on how the grooming process works! There is a vast difference between educating and just being down right condescending. Please get off your high horse! You are a groomer. Be kind to animals and their owners. If you can't, then you shouldn't be in this type of business. read more

The owner is very rude and condescending. I have a very sweet good natured 14 year old toy poodle. We moved to the area recently and this is the second grooming at Furdoos. I was a little shocked by the owners attitude the first time but brought her back once more. I think she was over booked. She tried to say I was an hour early. When her assistant checked the book I was on time. She complained several times about my dog being old. I arrived ten minutes early for pick up. My dog was still being groomed. I said I would return. She said no take her now, you should have arrived at the correct time and now she has seen you. My dogs face was not complete. She then said there would be an additional $27 service fee next time because my dog is old and requires extra care. Don't trust this woman with your dog. I will not return. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. The owner has the worst attitude, how she has a wait list is beyond me. I came in to enquire about grooming as I just moved to the area. Not only was the owner a condescending see you next Tuesday, she also made it clear that her current clients took preference over new clients and she had no time of day for me. How you can run a business like that is beyond me. And judging by the horrendous comments below, I am not alone in this awful customer service experience. If you love your pet. After going to FURDOOS for years, I am never going back, I left there feeling so offended. I think Liz has finally reached a point where she needs a lesson in how to treat Dog Owners, She is rude and charges outrageous prices now. I have to dogs that she are quite young and she told me that my dogs are basically troubled... and that I should think about taking them to another Groomer. I expressed my concerns with her and she basically told me to go elsewhere. I have heard from several other pet owners about her attitude, and how they feel the same way I do now. If you're looking for a place that's willing to take your money, but couldn't care less about your pet, then this place is for you! As soon as I showed up with my dog, who is very loved & happy, but has deformed front legs, the owner complained about us bringing him in. Knowing nothing about him, she told me he should have been euthanized. BUT she's still willing to groom him. For others who have a loved one with physical disabilities, you know there are enough tough things to get through in life without being told you're doing it wrong. I hope that others see this review and think twice about supporting this woman, and trusting their pets with her. read more

We had been going for years to Furdoos mainly because of Kelly. She is really sweet and always tried to give our dog the haircut we asked for. However the horrible attitude of the owner Liz. Goodness!!! She is just an awful person. Extremely rude; quite bluntly tells you she only cares about the dog. However she totally lacks human respect for us owners. She has absolutely no manners and the last time we took our dog there he had his tail between his legs. He was petrified!! If you love your dog and want to be treated with the slightest bit of human respect DON'T go there. Go to Bark Dog Grooming on West 3rd just off Lonsdale Ave. They are amazing; terribly sweet with both you and your darling pet. They leave your dog super happy and looking amazing + it is at least $10 less and if you book ahead your next apmt is 10% off. read more

DO NOT EVER GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG AT ALL! The worst experience I have ever had at a groomer, and I will never put my dog through that again. I just moved to North Vancouver from Calgary and needed to find a groomer for my 2 year old Sheltie. He has Addison's disease, and a double undercoat due to his medication, so I am very cautious about taking him to new groomers, as he gets stressed out easily if not treated properly and needs extra care due to his condition. The owner here was horrible right from the beginning. When I called to make the appointment, she was very unfriendly and seemed like she just wanted to get off the phone. That should have been my first clue to run for the hills. I tried to explain my dog to her, but she did not have the time of day and just wanted to make the appointment and get off the phone. When I got there this morning at 8am when my appointment was, she was not there, and her staff would not take my dog in. I waited 15 minutes before they finally called the groomer and she said that my dog could be let in. I informed the girl at the front that my dog had a double undercoat and was very anxious about the groomer due to the Addisons (which was also on the form that I filled out, and no one addressed this at all). After going home, I got a phone call from the owner saying it was going to be an extra $100 for my dog due to all the extra brushing and de-matting they would have to do for him. I keep my dog very well brushed because I know he has a lot of hair, and he just got groomed a month ago before I moved from Calgary. I line brush him every day and know that there are not many matts on him at all, so there was no reason that a simple grooming appointment should cost $160. I normally get him groomed by a specialized sheltie groomer, and even at his worst and most grungiest, it never costs me more than $75. I told them not to continue grooming him, and that I would pick him up, as this cost was outrageous, as I have been told by multiple other groomers I have called since the appointment this morning. When I got there, the owner was quite rude. She tried to blame everything on me, saying that I needed to warn her before hand about all of this (which I had tried to do on the phone and when I dropped him off). She also said that my dog was extremely anxious during the brushing, which I had told the front staff that he would be, but of course the groomer would have known that if she had been there when I dropped him off. She had to physically remove my dog from the kennel that he was in, because he was so scared and shaking. I have no idea what they put him through while I was not there, but my usual happy go lucky dog was not himself at all. He has never been this stressed out at a groomer. Most of the groomers that I take him to are kind and gentle to him, and he has no problems. Since picking him up about 2 hours ago, my dog has not stopped shaking and hiding in a corner, even after giving him his medication. I would not be surprised if I had to take him to the vet tonight due to all of the stress that he was put under her. DO NOT EVER GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG AT ALL! These people do not care about the dogs themselves, only about how much money they can get from you. read more

These people are absolutely great, they are good at dealing with difficult dogs and do a fabulous job. The owner used to work for the SPCA and volunteers her services for rescue organizations. Number one in my book, wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. read more
