We tried a few different groomers around the Tri-Cities until we found Suds N Scissors, and we've been regulars for the past couple years. No one else has groomed our dog as well. She looks so great every time she leaves the place. Our dog is also a very anxious pup and she seems to have really warmed up the the staff here, a real sign of how well they treat her. read more

Serene (she and her husband are the owners) is honestly the sweetest and most gentle person ever. She is the kind of person whose cheery demeanor instantly puts me in a good mood. My two very skittish dogs are not scared of her like they have been previously at other grooming salons. My dog got sick one day near the front and she was petting her and consoling her while she was throwing up. It's clear that she genuinely loves dogs. Serene and her lovely staff are highly trained in hand stripping which is great, as not all groomers are skilled in that, and that is the method needed to maintain the coat of the breed I have (Brussels Griffon). She is extremely thorough in discussing with you exactly you want done during the grooming session. You won't go home with a dog that looks patchy or hairless! I really cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are to have found this place. We know our dogs are in good hands and not only will they be safe in their care, they will come out looking pretty and smelling really nice! Everyone who works there is certified in pet first aid which gives us peace of mind that if an emergency were to occur, the proper actions would be taken. I was looking for a new place to take my dog Optimus for grooming. Suds 'n' Scissors is close to where I live, has an actual parking lot, and very good reviews so I decided to give them a shot. When we arrived, we were instantly greeted by Michelle (who I booked the appointment with on the phone) and Serene (the groomer/owner). You can tell that both ladies legitimately love dogs and enjoy what they do. We told them that we wanted Optimus' coat and tail length to stay the same, but to groom everything else. The entire appointment took over 2 hours, but Optimus came out looking great! The shampoo they use smells really good. They also brought to our attention an ear issue which we were able to solve after talking to our vet. Overall, Optimus left the groom happy and looking like a prize pup. The grooming was a bit more expensive than I thought (the bath and tidy option starts at $30 according to their website and we ended up paying $55) but they did give us the price before we started the groom which I appreciated. We will definitely take Optimus to get groomed at Suds 'n' Scissors again in the future! read more

I have a sick 2 week old newborn and had to cancel my appointment same day and the only words they could say to me is that they are charging me $10 for same day cancellation. I get that if someone just cancels but this wasn't by choice as my baby rightfully takes priority over a grooming for my dogs. I don't care about $20 but the fact that when I explained the situation and all they could say was "it's $10 PER dog" says enough about the people that run the business here. Money lovers, not dog lovers. Needless to say, I'm never coming back again and will never recommend them to anyone as they clearly aren't understanding or own any sort of principle. read more

Our dog isn't the kind of dog that needs shaving and shaping, but his short double coat is the stuff of shedding nightmares. With spring around the corner, he may as well be a walking fur bomb. Enter: Suds 'n' Scissors. Not only were Serene and Nicholas wonderful, warm, and obviously sweet on dogs, but they brushed more fur out of Kepler than I thought was humanly possible. He actually looked LEANER. (Which I guess is what happens when you lose a pound of undercoat). I'll definitely be back for future grooming--and some of those tasty salmon treats. read more

I've been taking my golden doodle to suds n scissors now for 5 years. In some cases (out of laziness) I tried taking my dog to a closer groomer (to my house) and if I tried to take him back there - he wanted to bolt out of the door. He clearly hated it. I took him back to Michelle at SNS and he nearly knocked her over giving her kisses. She is magic with him. She does wonderful work - I can't give her a more stars than 5 - WISH I COULD!! 10 stars! read more

Ok results, business could use some improvement. Customer Service is lacking. Frankly, I don't think Sheila was in the wrong place. I have just had a similar experience. Michelle, though a nice person I'm sure, has a lot to learn about business and how she conducts herself with her customers. Our dog gets a little scared when she's away from home, and so Michelle told us on our last groom that she'd like to do an "in and out" appointment for her. She explained nothing about any special considerations or advising her of this fact when making an appointment. Over a week ago, we made an appointment for our dog to be groomed. Today, 15 minutes before the the appointment, Michelle phoned to say she cannot perform an "in and out" groom on our dog today, and I should have advised her of that fact when I made the appointment. She rudely spoke over me on several occasions, to the point that I had to ask her to stop and allow me to speak. I was absolutely shocked. She had just cancelled my appointment, great! It is not the customer's responsibility to know the procedures of a business in absence of an explanation regarding their preferred procedures. When I advised Michelle of this, she stated that "I must be the only one in her 19 years doing dog grooming that she hasn't explained the procedure to." Excuse me? She actually went on to explain that she may have taken our appointment while at home, or somewhere else because her calls are forwarded, and she can't be held to the standard of having doggies cards with her at all times. I took the day off work today specifically to have my dog groomed. The customer is never responsible when a business fails to instruct on the proper procedure and preferences when you agree to work together. Businesses who make excuses and blame the customer, or simply recite reasons like my calls are forwarded to excuse bad services and extraordinary inconvenience are just not worthy of our business. If this business has been running like this for 19 years and hasn't obtained simple organization skills to book appointments, then I assume the outlook for customer service improvement is bleak. Needless to say, I will not be returning here. read more

We were looking for a groomer for our dog Shadow, she is 16 years old. We wanted someone kind, caring and patient. My sister recommended Suds and Scissors. We were greeted warmly by Serene and Shadow was instantly taken by her warm approach.!! We can tell Serene clearly loves animals and her warm approach made Shadow feel relaxed. I used to take Theo to downtown to get groomed but he's not particularly thrilled about long car rides. I decided to bring Theo to Suds 'N' Scissors as they were relatively close to where I live and had good reviews. The owners were very friendly and you can tell they are genuine dog lovers. I have to say Theo came out looking great. They did a better job grooming him than the previous groomers plus cheaper too! Even my friends and family noticed the improvement. I have taken our mini doodle there for a year now. He always gets a good trim and better yet, he likes Michelle. This is a dog who doesn't like to be left anywhere. I find the prices are competitive with other places I have used in the past and there is lots of parking. So why 4 stars instead of 5, sometimes he's not ready when we were told he would be which is not a huge deal but it usually means driving through rush hour traffic and on winter nights :-( I am always however happy to recommend Suds 'n' Scissors. read more

I'll never go back to this place again.. Found a new, better groomer who actually cares about dogs instead of cooping them up in kennels for hours on end. My boyfriend and I took our jack russell here to get an express groom and a nail trim which shouldn't take more than half an hour considering I made my appointment nearly a week in advance just to avoid making him wait. We were initially told that we could pick him up in 4 hours, but instead ended up waiting 8. Our poor dog was emotionally distraught, he didn't want to be handled (he's a very affectionate pup, loves attention and loves to be held) and it seemed as though he was mad at us, and it took us a couple of days to get him to warm up to us again. As for the staff, I didn't find them to be rude or unprofessional. They seemed very polite and knowledgeable, but as far as handling goes, that's enough to keep me away. read more

We've tried many groomers in Vancouver for our 5 year old Scottie, have gone from having her ear cut open with scissors, arriving to see an employee kicking the door of a crated dog, our dog coming out with the worst cuts ever, have seen it all. Went to Serene at another shop and had the best cut EVER!! That was it, not ever going to anyone else but......Serene moved on to start her own business and we lost track of her so began the process of trying to find another good groomer, lucky we found Serene once more! I've brought my Pomeranian, who is a very timid rescue dog, here three times and each time has been amazing! I was nervous finding a place since he was so scared of everything but they were so nice and comforting toward him!
