Don't get your dog groomed here unless you want extra $10 fees for supposed paw grooming issues that you have literally never been charged ever in the entire 8yrs you have been taking your dog to Petsmart in Philly without issue and without extra $10 fees and without the smart mouth attitude talking back to clients from your groomer Jenna D. Love pet smart! They have basically almost everything I need for my cats. The only thing they don't sell is kitten bottles which is weird because they sell kitten formula. The other problem I have with them is when I do a pickup order it's never ready before 4-6 hours. It's very inconvenient... I can go into the store and physically get what I need quicker than doing a pickup order. I feel like the staff just doesn't constantly look at orders coming in. I usually have to end up going into the store and grabbing my items off the shelf and going up to checkout and telling them it's technically a pickup order but since no one did it in a fair amount of time I did it myself. read more

Always crowded, need more assistance... there's one disgruntled staff member who always seems to be having a crappy day when I go in there. If it wasn't for their selection of dog food, I wouldn't go in there. One time the same disgruntled staff member must of been off the clock (wearing the blue work shirt) , was walking with another woman, while she looked me directly in my face as I stood in line and walked to the next available cash register and proceeded to type in her employee number as it looked like she was using her discounted for the woman she was with. I walked up to the cash register and told her I was waiting on line.... That was the icing on the cake which made this review happen... avoid unless you absolutely need to go into this store. read more

I have not been into a PetSmart in probably about six years. The place seemed so dead and devoid of the activity. Normally, I would visit the enclosures where cats would be kept and there were no cats. In the animal training area, nothing was going on. As I walked the store, there were people shopping but not at the volume I remembered. I needed to use the rest room and I asked one of the ladies working the reception counter at Banfield Veterinary for the code to open the lock on the door. One woman and her dog was on the bench in the waiting area. The only pet life for sale I noticed was a large display of white cubicles with lidded plastic cups that were about maybe 12 ounces that contained Beta/ Siamese Fighting Fishes. I have no clue why someone would want these as they look dead even though they are alive. How much longer will a place like this exist? The prices were outrageous and I did not purchase anything. read more

My dog got the most thorough bath ever at PetSmart in Middletown NY today and I am persnickety!! The nails, ears, breath and underbelly were given complete attention. The heavy set blonde manager with the bulldyke haircut and the tattooed forearms needs to learn how to talk to people. She was rude, condescending and felt I needed a lecture on how to handle my pet purchase. I didn't ask a question or ask for her input but she felt it was necessary to give it to me. I'm a 60 year old man that has had pets my ENTIRE life and I don't need big bertha to add her two cents, ESPECIALLY when I never asked. And if she rolled her eyes once, she rolled them a dozen times. Took my dog to get a bath, brush and teeth cleaning.. ABSOLUTELY disgusting!!!!! My dog was dirty from the pond and when I got her back from the so called groomers she was still dirty. All they did was spray some perfume on her coat. Her inner body was still dirty and smelled like the pond. DISGUSTING... I had to say something to the person who brought her out because she was choking my dog with the leash.. They need to be closed down.. What a disgrace and horrible service. Since the pandemic they're just trying to run this place on far too few employees. There are not enough people to help customers, not enough to ring them up, not enough for basic customer service. I try to be kind to the the people who are working there because it's not their fault, but going in looking for something simple can end up taking a really long time. This is a nice enough Petsmart. I went here to visit the Banfield vet which I found to have a wonderful staff and doctors. They spent quality time with my two dogs and seemed to truly care for their well being. This was my first experience at a Banfield and hope the rest are as nice. read more

The first girl who helped me was kind and courteous. I needed a new litter box System for my 4 cats. She also told me they do price matching and we looked at my phone and she told me to screen cap the 2 items and bring it to the register. No problem there and I thanked the girl Once I go the the register it was a completely different story. The girl was agitated, rude and never even said hi. She looked like she couldn't be bothered and I explained about the price match. She was annoyed at me because her facial expression told it all: she didn't want to be bothered. She huffed as she used her headset to contact the first girl I spoke to. She got the ok and finished my transaction. While all this was taking place I noticed her forearm tattoo had a sentence and the last word was "bitch" I couldn't believe petsmart would hire anyone with foul language tattooed in plain site And for the record I have a half sleeve myself and I wear shirts that cover it and NONE of my tattoos has vulgar words But I guess if the shoe fits...... Please hire people at the registers that actually care about the customers. I worked retail for 15 years and never treated a Customer like this. Went to Petsmart to adopt a cat - was told numerous different things regarding information, same day adoption, and when I would be hearing from someone next. Was at Petsmart Monday morning when a woman named Elise came into the adoption center, she asked me if I had any questions and I told her no, I had already submitted an application for an animal, so she began asking questions about it if I currently had any animals, I had recently just lost an animal and when I was explaining the situation to her, she looked at my husband and I while we were explaining the situation as if we were cat killers, we had to euthanize our cat per our vet's recommendation which was very unexpected and she spoke to us disrespectfully, she looked at us as if we had done something wrong and anyone who has had an animal knows when you lose them it is HARD and this woman was looking at us like we were just these evil people, after this I left the store and we decided not to go through with any adoptions at Petsmart because of this - we went somewhere else and they treated us MUCH better and had sympathy for what we went through. The treatment we received was not necessary and very disheartening. I hope going forward they treat people who are looking to rescue cats much better than the way my husband and I were treated. read more

I have been in multiple times with my Shih Tzu and only twice with my Chow. Though I can't complain about issues in the past, my most recent visit has me thinking twice, and currently looking for another groomer. Long story short the issue was with my Chow, I paid for the Bath with furminator PLUS, ran me about $100. Prior to booking the appointment I read online the description of services so I knew which service would be best for my Chow. I drop them off and 4 hours later I received a call that they were ready. (No issue with the wait, Chows take a VERY long time to dry so I expected that). My issue was when I showed up to pick him up the lady who greeted me instantly told me "Next time you book you should really book with a groomer and get his sanitary areas trims". Now my issue was his was listed as INCLUDED with the bath prior to booking the appt (I knew this needed to be trimmed). I told her that I was fairly certain it was included and she told me "nope! Next time book with a groomer". (Lets be clear, I didn't request ANYONE, I booked services so if I needed a groomer to do what should have been included then THEY should have booked it with a groomer?). I walked away to go pay and looked up the services while paying....I was correct. Sanitary trim, feet /pads trim and ears were all included in the $100 service I was paying for. After paying I walked back over to the grooming area where I could now see my dog. NOTHING trimmed. His feet were a mess, she already told me they didn't do the sanitary areas and I assumed the ears hadn't been touched at this point. I showed her the service listing where it clearly stated everything that should have been included. This is where the real issue began. She completely dismisses me and tells me "Okay, great, next time book with a groomer." I told her it was a lot of money for me to already have spent and asked "how would I know who I have to book with, I booked a service, a service that includes XY&Z". She just tells me again, "yup, well next time you should call and try and book with a groomer." At this point I'm ready to ask for a manager, I paid for a service...it needs to be done. Luckily a groomer overheard and stepped in and said she would take care of it. She explained that often dogs who need just baths don't need trims as well. And though I totally understand that concept...it IS included in the service and if the dog does require it, don't tell me to come back and pay again. I appreciated the groomer who stepped in, that's why there is an additional star. And again, in the past I have had no issues with my Shih Tzu. However the ten min back and forth with the rude girl dismissing me even AFTER I showed her what I paid for. She is the sole issue why I don't feel comfortable returning there. read more

Had a Grooming appointment with elora. when I arrived she looked at my dog, I was aware and she also told me he was matted, and that he would be shaved down very low.which is fine I expected that. She asked another groomer for advice(not sure her name but she had black hair with glasses). I gave her my poodle and left. I was called about 20-30 mins later saying my dog had hot spots and magets, that they could not continue with the groom. I arrived another groomer tall short blonde hair showed me 1 hot spot on his side. she suggests I take him to the vet to see about maget situation. I took my dog to the vet. Absolutely nothing was wrong with him. Even did blood work for any heartworm/tick disease everything came back negative. The vet said the groomer was probably uncomfortable grooming my dog because he was matted. If the groomer was uncomfortable grooming than say that. I would have went to an experienced groomer. Not go to a vet & spend $170 on bloodwork and exams to see what is wrong with my dog. When there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. Never bringing my dog back to this location again. read more

Stopped by this location to pick up some supplies and couldn't help but notice the most gorgeous cat. I currently have 2 and have been looking to add a third to my family. I felt so connected to this one I needed more information, my primary question was did he get along with other cats. I stood around the area for a few minutes trying to get someone's attention. Finally someone walked by and I stopped them to ask my question. The response was quite rude. The staff member told me she didn't know and the cat lady left for the day. Then she dismissed me and walked away, she couldn't be bothered. She didn't offer any more information, when person in charge of adoptions would be in or offer me any sort of paperwork to fill out. I was dismissed and her entire attitude towards me made me feel stupid for even stopping to ask. I'm honestly thankful for chewy, I'll now be ordering all my pet supplies via their website and not dealing with the rude customer service I experienced at this location. read more

Where do I begin? I've been coming here 12+ years now. The staff has remained the same - loyal and true over each year with few changes of employee turnover. That tells you that management is doing something right. Chris, their trainer trained my Emma, my deceased Golden Retriever. I've adopted two cats from their rescue and have used their vets. All of them are awesome people. I enjoyed taking Emma there weekly when she was alive especially on Friday nights because other dog owners were there for Chris's training night and it was a great opportunity to socialize her. If I said "do you wanna go to PETSMART?" she would lose her mind! She walked in there with the her tail wagging, smiling, shining as if she owned the place. Everyone knew Emma's name - it was a homecoming for her every single time we visited. Just pure joy. When she passed away, Chris cried - and even George did too. George had three golden's so he understood. In any event, the staff is great - the deals and variety are terrific too. But I got back because of the team - they are family to me. read more

Worst experience ever. I was called in 4 hours prior to my scheduled appointment after being cancelled last minutes the week before the morning of my appointment only to be denied services. The groomer, Patricia, claimed she heard abnormal breathing from my dog a disappeared for about 5 minutes. When she return she refused to groom claiming her manager told her not to. i requested to speak to him, Ray, who then came over, heard no abnormal sounds, yet still refused to provided services. The week prior, when my appointment was cancelled last minute, I expressed my frustration and this week services are not rendered. I'm sure it's no surprise Patricia was the same person who canceled me last week. I went so far as to take her directly next door to the pet hospital, who once again gave her a clean bill of health. The manager recommended I take her to a vet for grooming, which i find ironic since he's the manager of pet smart and not the vet next door who gave no such recommendation. read more

Had an appointment to have my dog washed at 8 a.m. Takes 45 minutes to get there. When I arrived, the girl working in grooming was extremely unfriendly. Never said hello, no smile, nothing. Almost hostile. My dog had a quarter sized hot spot on his back which I told her about and she said they would not bathe him. Nowhere on their website does it say they won't take dogs with hot spots. She was really unfriendly and unapologetic about it. Will never go there again and advise against anyone else going there. Last time I was there, same thing, really unfriendly, as if they resented you even bringing your dog in. read more

My son & girlfriend went to this PetSmart & bought a guinea pig in June. At home noticed he seemed to sneeze a bit but ate his food,sat on my lap for hours! Day2/3 more of the same sneezing . But the next night he seemed to be breathing so fast it didn't seem normal., his squeaks seemed to now sound like clicking . We knew the next morning he had to go to Banfield vet. The next morning I picked him up and put in Towel and he just fell over on his side! Poor little Benji had seizures on the way there & was dropped off at vet! Called back 1/2 hr later, he had died! He had a common Upper respiratory illness that would have had him separated from others , he was in cage alone and he was so thin, all bones and wasn't allowed to be held by us until we bought and paid for him . Why? The manager was nice and professional & returned all our money ,even for the opened food & bedding! this was the 2nd pet we had bought, a hamster 4 years earlier and within 4 days he went back to Banfield vet and also died of a common hamster disease! Customer service is great but concerned about the practice of selling animals that are sick and ultimately die! read more
