Check this! I dropped my two small dogs off at 10 AM and didn't get them back until 4:20 PM!!! That's 6 hours of no walking, no feeding, no water, no f-ing medicine!!!?! Yeah they did an ok job being that my dog was there for 6 hours and looked like they rushed. NOT TO MENTION 5 people came and left with their dogs, while I sit and wait. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO START THEM AT 10 am!!!! . I guess you have to be a friend of one of the groomers, then you get to have your dog pushed ahead of customers WHO CALL FOR APPOINTMENTS. I have always kept my dogs well maintained and groomed. Life has been busy and challenging this year and my Bella had to be shaved because she was matted. I know it's bad for Pyrenees but it had to be done. If I knew she would leave looking worse then when she went it I never would have gone to them. She must have been in so much pain when they were hacking away at her. She went to the Vet right afterwards and is on meds for inflammation and the bleeding. I called to let Dapper dog know and I continued to get shamed. Not even an apology or concern for my dogs condition. Shame on them. read more

Rachel is the best groomer ever!! My cats were her clients for over 10 years. When we got my dogs max and ace Rachel has been taking care of them since puppies. Desiere also very pleasant. This groomer is really good at what they do but I think at this point their arrogance is getting the better of them. Customer service the past several months has been terrible at best. On more than one occasion I've dealt with abrupt and harshness spoken down to me (I don't think I'm that difficult of a customer; I'm actually a pushover). If you can tolerate a "ghetto" environment and "ghetto" customer service then you will be very satisfied with this groomer because as I said they are very good at grooming. However, I feel that customer service is just as important if not more important than the service provided. read more

I use to bring my first dog I ever owned here. I was pleased with the service and trusted them. I used dapper dog once for my new dog who is maybe a little bit heavier. I recently started to take my dog to a daycare that also has grooming and have used them. I needed to take my dog back here and was happy in doing so. I now was charged almost one hundred dollars for grooming my maybe thirty pound dog, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would be so much. I was so shocked. Their response was, he is a different type of dog and needed to be brushed more, due to knots. I had gone there for so many years prior and recommended them to people. I took my 2 Yorkers in today to get groomed and I love the results! I have had bad experiences at PetSmart and was a little weary about bringing in my dogs, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my babies. The look and smell great. Clifton, our Cavalier King Charles, has bee here for years and we absolutely love all of the staff! When I first started looking for a reputable groomer in Gig Harbor, I am so thankful I landed on The Dapper Dog. Clifton always comes out looking great and full of smiles. When I was there for an appointment, I noticed a note on Clifton's appointment that read something like "take good care of my baby." The note wasn't intended for me to see, but I'm glad I did. I think it's sweet they care that much about Clifton and the pets they take care of. The grooming is good but it's not worth the horrible customer service. My dog had an appointment at 11am and it was snowing that morning so I was running late. I had previously made a deposit the week before making the appointment and was going to finish paying on the appointment date. Since it was snowing and the roads were slushy I was running 10 minutes late. I got a call from the groomer saying that they were going to keep my deposit and that they couldn't see my dog anymore because I was 10 minutes late. The groomer was very rude about the whole thing, and you can't just keep someone's deposit. They have a rule of no show no call then they get to keep the deposit but I did call to tell them I was running late. This is not the first time this has happened either. Never taking my dog here again. read more

I have taken my rescued yellow lab here before and was told that she was unmanageable because she was terrified. I called to see if they would trim her nails and they wanted to charge me $50 as opposed to $10 just to cut her nails. I explained that she had been abused and is scared of everyone. They basically told me to find somewhere else. Well, I did and I am very happy! We are told to rescue animals and often they come with baggage. I took my dog there to have a cut and wash at 12. They did not call me or contact me in any way. At 3 I finally went to get him and they lied and said " your dog did not allow use to cut his fur he growled at us." My dog never growls at humans (I know my baby) and always, always allows the groomer to cut his fur. If he was upset why would you be able to wash him? I'm posting this on behalf of my mother who used Dapper Dogs based on the 5 star yelp reviews. She brought her 2 dogs in this week and had a 9:30 appt and was told it would be 2 hours. They were not done by 2 pm so she had to pick them up hours late and they still weren't finished. One dog is now traumatized so we believe he was treated badly and the other didn't get a full grooming. She was told they had fleas and they do not - very unprofessional. Do not bring your dogs here -she will not be going back. read more

First visit was lovely; very nice groom, very accomodating. Pick up time delayed but it was July 4th weekend. Second visit - in at 10 (with an appointment); approx 2 pm pick up time - "but I'll call you"; 2:30 no call. I went in and was told "we're here until 4:30 but it will be before that"; when I went back at 3:30 it became "about 4:45" - no explanation, no apology. I had to cancel a 4 pm appointment of my own. They (2 dogs) weren't ready until 4:45. At no time was I offered an explanation or given any apology; when I picked them up there was no inquiry about the acceptability of the grooming. It was also the single worst hair cut of my poodle's 8 1/2 years - no top knot, uneven cut of the mustache and legs; just awful. On Saturday October 17, 2020 I took my two 3yrs old Shih-Tzu babies for grooming at this place for their noon scheduled appointment. I wasn't in the mood to drive to NYC which is where I usually take them for grooming and since they do an ok job for the price, because they have been groomed before with them, I thought, why not? Big mistake. They were supposed to be ready by 3pm and I was waiting for the call to pick them up. 4pm and nothing, 5pm and nothing and I decided to contact them to make sure that the shop wasn't going to close with my babies inside. My wife was worried that something might have happened and they didn't know what to do. At 6pm they handed me the male and told me that in 15-20 minutes the female was going to be ready. They are both very quite and loving creatures and I didn't notice anything wrong with them for they were happy to be back with us. And as usual slept a little while we drove back home. While at home we noticed the the female wasn't opening one eye completely and we thought that she might have been looking for extra attention or maybe she got some shampoo on her eyes. The following morning she had secretion on that eye and was a little cloudy. I went to the local CVS and got her eye wash solution to clean anything away and she cried. To make the long story short I took her to the veterinarian and he told us that her cornea was injured. I am an adult an understand that because of the shape of that breeds face it could become challenging to cut the hair around their faces. But to hide what happened is unacceptable. My baby girl cried and was bleeding from her eye in that place and I wasn't informed about it. That lack of responsibility is not acceptable behavior for a teenager not to mention for adults. I did not and do not intend to make them pay for the veterinary services, I covered that without hurting my finances. And I wasn't going to write a negative review about them until I called them up on their actions over the phone, couldn't go in person because customers are not allowed to go inside due to the coronavirus restrictions and precautions. After telling the person on the phone what happened, and how disappointed I was because of their lack of responsibility and professionalism, the only thing I heard back was : OK and they hung up. Unacceptable. My baby girl was completely fine after 2 weeks of care and after finishing writing this review I will forget that this particular place ever existed. But will never forget that she almost went blind because of their apathy and lack of responsibility. read more

I always debated coming here but loved another groomer too much to leave. Sadly, our groomer was closed over the Easter holiday and Dapper Dog happily accepted my dog for a groom. The staff were very nice and the establishment was clean. When I picked up my fur baby, he was happy and the staff commented on what a sweet boy he is. HOWEVER, they failed to mention that they nicked his left front leg bad enough for him to bleed and have a scab . Also, upon further observation of his hair cut, it was VERY choppy and uneven. Needless to say that my husband and I were furious and highly disappointed in this establishment.
