I took my dog to the grooming salon in December with his vaccinations that were done only three days prior in Dec 2024. He was groomed and the gal did a great job. Since it went so well I made another appointment. When I got there they said they didn't have his vaccinations on file. I explained that he was here four months ago and I left the paperwork. They apologized and I had my daughter run to the house and send me a pic of them. They then said they don't take handwritten vet notes. They didn't say that in December. She looked again and said she didn't notice which vet it was and that she does take handwritten notes from my vet only. Once that was settled she looked at my paperwork again and said since there wasn't an expiration date on the vaccines she couldn't groom my dog. She said that she had no way of knowing whether the rabies shot was a one year or three year shot. I tried to explain to her that it should really matter since these were way under one year old. She refused to budge on the matter. She called a manager and the only one available was one from the warehouse who had no idea about grooming and vaccinations. He refused to allow her to let my dog get groomed. So, after about 30 minutes, I left with my shaggy dog. Such a sad experience when a little common sense could have helped. In my opinion she didn't want to groom another dog. Mine is a small Yorkie who just needed a haircut. read more

Took my dog in for a grooming and was told they only have two people that are able to use scissors, I've recently moved here from Colorado and never heard such a thing. Why are you in business if your groomers can't perform the job your hiring them for!! Just sell high priced stuff then and get out of the business of grooming. What a joke this place is! I have used PetSmart for a vey long time but this last time I didn't get what I asked for. My long hair chihuahua came home with areas on her that weren't done as I requested. The employees are slow, rude, and incompetent. I've been a PetSmart customer for decades and have never encountered the ugliness these employees display. I am very disappointed. This was my first visit to the Lubbock store. Given the way the employees I encountered behaved, I suspect this is a very toxic workplace. Horrible, pass the buck, apathetic customer service. We (on our Anniversary nonetheless) put in a delivery order from this PetSmart (2 decades as loyal customers, btw). Even with detailed instructions, the delivery driver somehow took the order to an address that wasn't ours. We noticed after he sent the picture of the delivery. When we notified PetSmart they began the tennis game of blame that we got lost in between them and Door Dash and refused to take any responsibility for their product not making it to us ("We fulfilled our part" To which I responded, "No, fulfill means completion and the order isn't completed because we haven't gotten it."). No one seemed to care and only kept repeating in a monotone detachment voice that there was nothing they could do. IT IS YOUR PRODUCT NOT MAKING IT TO THE CUSTOMER THAT PURCHASED IT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Horrible. Out of money (no one can be reached), didn't get a product that we need for our senior, ailing cat (will have to just count our loss and get somewhere in person tomorrow), and no one really seemed to care. Absolutely abysmal customer service and follow through and it ends my shopping with PetSmart. read more

We have taken our goldendoodle to this pet smart for over 2 years (he'll be 3 in November). They have always always made him feel loved when we drop him off. He loves them there. When we have a special request on how we want his cut, they do exactly as asked. I love Misty's teddy bear cut. She does so well with him. We moved to Dallas last month, and I am feeling real sad we didn't show this pet smart and Misty more love! Hope we can find somewhere/someone just as good here. read more

I took my yorkie for grooming today. We wanted the lion cut. Our dog was scared to go in and that is the only bad thing I can say. I think he may have had a bad experience before. But we decided to leave him there. We didn't have an appointment but lucky us someone didn't show up. They were happy to take him in. They called us about 45 minutes later telling us that it would be hard to give him a lion cut because his hair on top was matted. It was nice that they called and gave us grooming options. When we picked him up. He was happy to see us of course. The report card stated he did really good. I inspected him and saw no irritation or red marks. When we paid, the cashier was great. Yesterday was the last day we will do business at PetSmart. We go in all the time and buy lots of stuff there plus board our pup occasionally - but no more. Left our dog Friday morning and picked her up yesterday (Sunday) just before 2pm. We leave her at different kennels from time to time as we travel but only after we have thoroughly vetted the places. PetSmart was used because we had to and it was the 2nd or 3rd time she has been there. Terrible decision. I always type up a detailed information sheet that covers everything they could possibly need or want to know. We also bring our own food and treats since it took us quite some time and considerable money to find a diet that worked well for her after she found us when she was 2 mos. (She just turned 9 yrs.). We take a folding house for her and her "own" bedding. Upon arrival, after we provided all required documentation, we asked to go in and set her stuff up; no - "we" are not allowed behind the security door. Hmmm. We look at EVERY place we take her but not here (they had previously let us). We anted up for the "suite" hoping it would make her more comfortable. Whether she got that or now we'll never know. We had to assure them the bedding was "washable" because she might have an "accident". I told them she hadn't had an "accident" since we first got her and the only way it would happen is if they caused it. I could go on but..... Went in to pick her up on the way home to Lamesa yesterday. While we were gone we called every day to inquire about her because she lives with us literally 7/24/365. Everything was OK but she didn't use the restroom the first night. Next day they said they took her "outside" and she took care of business. Then at pickup, at almost 2pm, they informed us they had not taken her out yet....??? What? We waited for them to go get her. She was very distraught and literally clawed as hard as she could trying to pull out of the building. Got in the vehicle and she started crying - she doesn't do that. I took her over to a little lake to let her out and she was so bound up and in pain she could hardly walk. It took her 20 minutes to repeatedly go (1&2) trying to get "normal". It was excruciating to watch. She also drank an entire bottle of water because she was so thirsty. Got home and she devoured a bowl of kibbles because she was starving. Opened he bag and found they hadn't fed her anything that entire day either - I guess they're just "forgotten" while there. We also found a little note included with her treats - they aren't allowed to give dogs dental treats; she LOVES those things and they keep her breath so fresh (along with daily brushing). We had bathed her prior to taking her in and she stunk to high heaven - the kennel must have reeked; no wonder they wouldn't let us go in. Needless to say we were furious and still are. I sent the CEO of PetSmart an email accusing them of neglect and abuse, but, like the employees at the Lubbock store he is unresponsive as well. Bottom line avoid the place at all costs IMO - we will. I will get my supplies from Amazon and use a different kennel - my neighbor says she is aware of a nice one somewhere in Lubbock. It's a shame that they would abuse someone's wonderful pet like that. read more

My wife traveled from Plainview to take my dog to be bathed and groomed. We had an appointment for this and when scheduling the appointment I notified the person making the appointment for us that we would be giving our dog something for his anxiety. My wife takes him there for his appointment and lets them know that he was given something for his anxiety and was told they cannot take care of a dog that was medicated. How in the world would we know this when I advised them that he was going to be medicated. My wife wasted two hours of her day to take our dog down there for nothing! Wake-up PetSmart some dogs have anxiety when they are not with their humans. I was medicating him to help him and make sure he had a better experience. I love this place! It's so pet friendly of course, right? Shyanne is a trainer there and she is so knowledgeable, friendly yet professional, understanding, kind, helpful at any time of day and loving towards any dog. Her methods on dog training really work. I've seen major progress on my dog in just one visit with her! She not only helps with training commands but also with basic stuff such as potty training and impulse control (like stuff you would work on around the house). You can tell how passionate she is and dedicated to her job within 5 minutes of meeting her. She's also sweet to humans too! I would definitely recommend this girl! read more

I enjoy the store atmosphere, the staff is friendly and enjoy their jobs. The store is always well stocked, organized, and consistently offering a wide range of items that delight any animal. PetSmart is like the target or walmart for your pet needs. It's a one stop shop. I believe they are the biggest pet store in town with largest selections. People bring their dogs in with them on leashes while they shop. The staff are helpful. They have a pet hotel (not sure if only for dogs), and a doggie day care. Petsmart also hosts special pet related events, and puppy training classes. It is important to note that petsmart does not allow certain breeds of dogs(fine print on their website) in their daycare and other programs. I wanted to spoil a friend's dog and found everything I needed (collar and customizable/ engraved name tag, tether, fancy treats, etc...). Overall I think Amazon is cheaper; but with PetSmart you can walk in and physically look at what you are buying, and it's more convenient if you need something same day. read more

I love this Petsmart. Their faults are that some of their regular floor staff isn't as educated as they should be on different products. We've done training with the trainer Kaci & she is fabulous! Not only is she invested in out fur babies progress but she really knows her stuff. She's realistic with the "homework" and tries to fit the training to your life style. We also love their doggie daycare! Our dogs go off and on (mainly when our lives are really busy) but the staff always remembers them! They leave us notes so we know how they've done and our dogs really enjoy it! Plus, they always sleep like angels when they get home :) read more

There were two baby kittens last time I went in there and they both OBVIOUSLY had kennel cough (which is deadly and infectious) I told the manager and all he had to say was that if they reported it they would have to put them to sleep. Michael is the best groomer. This is the only place and he is the only person my dog will let groom him. The only bad thing is the price.

We took our cats here because the store on Marsha Sharp Freeway only does bathing. We needed their sanitary track shaved. The first appointment had some issues and we had to reschedule, but apparently the instructions I left on the first appointment did not translate to the second appointment. My son dropped off the cats and was told that they would be shaved. He did not understand that they meant shaved all over. Our cats were traumatized and one didn't even get a full shave because she became too agitated for the groomer to finish, so they just shoved her back into her pet carrier and told my son to take her to the vet for them to finish her grooming. If my instructions had been followed from the initial call or even if the groomer had bothered to call the number on the appointment (mine), this all could have been avoided. Now I have a partially groomed cat that won't let anyone near her at all and a long hair cat that is no longer long haired and looks very odd. Neither one was bathed either. NEVER taking my animals here again! read more

This is my worst nightmare. This Petsmart groomers didn't bother to tell me out dog got knicked by there trimmers and fell off the table. Long story but will try to be brief. Picked her up brought her home and noticed blood on rear leg. Called Petsmart the groomer didn't now anything since she just started her shift. Took my number would look into it and call me back. Meantime our pooch started acting strange, panting alot and wouldn't go outside. Moving around seemed to be hard. Took to our vet. she had a herniated disk, cause from a fall or something hit her hard. Gave her a shot, medicine said needed rest and if no better in the morning bring her back. Needless to say she never made it thru the night. The panting did slow down and eventually stopped. Found out she suffered a blood clot and she was gone. Dont take your dog there for grooming, in fact any animals. In the couple years my pooch has been gone I haven't stepped one foot in that place. never will. read more

We will not use the PetsHotel at PetSmart on Slide, in Lubbock and urge others to stay away. Red flags start as soon as you call in where the booking/sales/call-center employee. They are only interested in "nickel-and-diming" additional food, activities and services. There seems to be a lack of communication between personnel. The staff at the PetsHotel do not appear to be familiar with common dog behaviors (such as "scooting") or take the time to familiarize themselves with your pet ("she"?). Finally, while they are very eager to offer services when they are not needed (grooming, food, etc.), they will not even give you a courtesy call to offer this service when the pet soils himself. We have used this place three times to house our male, mixed breed, seven year old dog. The first one was a long trip (8 nights). I was asked if the dog would want a DayCamp experience, and I added two "half-day" DayCamps. At check-in they asked to make a copy of the dog's vaccination records. The main complaints of this visit was the lack of clarity in policies as explained by the booking/sales/call-center and PetsHotel personnel. The policy in question was an assurance by the booking/sales/call-center employee that my wife would get daily pictures of our dog. That did not happen and when we inquired, we were told that it was not customary for them to provide daily pictures. Another "disconnect" arose regarding the feeding of our dog. We informed the staff (through the phone) that we would be providing food, but they seemed surprised at check-in when I gave them food. These complaints were not particularly worrisome, but they did create some doubts about the competency of the employees. The second visit was shorter, only one night. Even though my dog had already stayed at this exact location, I was asked to bring copies of the vaccination records, since the records were "lost". I was also surprised to get a call later that day saying that my dog was "scooting". I was offered to have the dog fed some fiber (presumably at an additional cost), which I declined since my dog does occasionally "scoot", mostly out of excitement. A few hours later I was contacted by another employee insisting that I allow the staff to do something about the scooting. I was again offered the fiber treat for the dog, which I declined. The employee suggested they attempt an anal gland "drain" for the dog. Under this insistence I felt bad for my dog and decided to allow the (charged) procedure. This seemed extreme for a single night stay, but the employee sounded very concerned about the dog's "scooting" behavior. The third (and LAST) stay was a five night stay with a half-day of DayCamp. Again, the PetsHotel employees were surprised that food was brought at check-in. We received no calls regarding scooting behavior or any other problems. When I arrived to pick-up the dog, the employee kept referring to my dog as "she". I was not told about the dog's behavior in DayCamp, even though in the past they have prepared a piece of paper with notes about the dog's experience. The dog was very eager to leave, which I interpreted as the dog needing "to go", but the employee did not give me the dog's bedding, extra food or toys. I asked her for them and she said she would return in a minute. When she arrived she informed me the bedding had been urinated on, but they didn't have the facilities to clean it. Our dog is very well potty-trained and frequently stays in an apartment for 10+ hours without accidents, so that such an accident was surprising. When in the car, the scent of urine was apparent not only in the bedding, but also on the dog, which suggested to me that he had slept in the wet bed at least during some time. Needless to say all of these experiences were disappointing, upsetting to all involved, with the possible exception of the party that got paid for displaying minimal competency. read more

Where do I start? Took my daughters 2 dogs for a simple bath, nail trim, etc. I gave two contact phone numbers. I was very specific about what I wanted. Waited over 3 hours, no phone call. Finally drove over there, and it went from bad to worse. Grooming salon attendant completely ignored us while on what turned into an extended phone call. When we asked what procedures were done, no one could answer and there was no written report as had been done on every previous occasion. I did notice on the bill I was charged for a furminator treatment for one dog which I DID NOT request! We had it done on a previous visit, but I specifically told them what I wanted THIS TIME! I never said furminator! The staff was downright rude and condescending! As if we weren't mad enough, when I get home from my daughters house I discovered they had called and left a message on my Home answering machine almost 30 miles away! Why did they not call one of the two numbers I told them to call!! Our dogs were there over an hour after they were finished because they called the wrong number!!' Seriously need someone to manage this place that actually listens to customers and understands customer service! read more
