I have to give PetSmart 5 stars. I went in looking for dog Halloween costumes. I was directed to the back where they were located. The salesperson said their stock was kind of depleted. So, while I am looking, this absolutely wonderful salesperson went into the back of the store and gathered up whatever costumes she could find in the back and brought them out for me to look at. How nice is that? She went the extra mile and even gave me tips on what costume would work best for my dog. I forgot her name, forgive me, but she is my new super hero. Hermoine looks great in her pizza costume. Thank you, so very much. Happy Halloween. read more

Two for two. We visited another local pet shop earlier in the day, but we realized that we forgot a few things for our new pup. Fortunately, this PetSmart was right in the area for us. I thought the store was very well organized because we did not have a problem finding anything - something that I really appreciated. I found the store to have a great stock and wide varieties of items. Compared to the other pet store we visited earlier in the day, I thought the prices at this PetSmart were a little lower. Also, customer service was pretty good. All in all, I had a pretty nice experience at this PetSmart. Looking forward to returning in the near future. read more

I have shopped at PetSmart for decades and always has a great experience. I have even volunteered there and found it was always great. Tonigh which happens to be the night before school starts, I was really disappointed to see a pet store employee refuse to get a hamster for a family with very young kids. He said that "pet care was closed". It was 6:33 and imagine pet care closed at 6:30 the store closes at 7. Apart from the mean spirited nature of his actions, this closing time was not posted anywhere that I have ever seen. The sales person was probably 18 years old and clearly had forgotten what it is like to be a kid. "You have to come back tomorrow," he said. I watched a very sad 4 year old who was accompanied by his entire family including grandma on the verge of tears get into his càr. I have never written a review and really all I can think is "who raised you?" Were they following the rules or just lazy. As a mom of a son about the same age, I am proud that I can say with confidence that my kid would have asked the manager if it was okay tho help the family. Unbelievable! read more

It's the tail end of my son's Eagle Scout project, we decided to spend some of the money he raised at Pet Smart and we asked for a discount. We were alright with them saying no, it was worth a shot. We purchase some single-serving of cat food, which were $1 each, if you purchased 10 mini-cat food meals. But there's a catch is that you have to sign-up for their Pet Smart Reward Program. That was alright, anything for a discount. Here come the reason they got a 2-star review...they added a $5.00 charitable donations on my bill, without asking. I would have be non-the-wiser, if I hadn't been paying attention. Riddle me this, I'm purchasing pet food to donate and got slammed with an un-requested donation on top of my donation. I'm a good person, but I'm not a wealthy saint. Once I noticed what happened, I promptly requested a refund. They provided one without much of a problem. Adding an extra charge to my bill, even if it was for charity, is a shady practice. Beware and pay attention to you bill at Pet Smart. read more

I made an appointment online and answered numerous questions about my dog. One question asked if the dog had a heart murmur. I answered yes. I got 2 calls to confirm the appointment. When I arrived, I was told that dogs with certain grades of heart murmurs must have an express appointment instead of a 3-4 hour regular appointment. And that my groomer didn't have time for that type of appointment that day. Oh, and express appointments cost $50 more. If that information had been given to me beforehand, I would not have wasted my time. I'm writing this review so you don't waste yours. read more

I know PetSmart grooming services gets a bad rap but so far, Korin has done the best job grooming my dog. I have gone to 3 other local grooming businesses in the area and have paid more for the same type of grooming. I have not been as happy and satisfied with the outcome of grooming as I have been with Korin's work. I have to admit that my dog was most nervous going to the grooming side of the PetSmart store for the longest time and I always worried as to why but recently, he has been better. Despite trying out other places, I keep coming back (actually came back this month after trying out a third place 2 months ago) for my dog to get his regular grooming service which includes a bath, nail trimming and anal gland expression. Thank goodness for Korin! read more

Background: Haircut + top dog service at this grooming salon. I've been coming here for about a year now, tried different groomers to see different styles they could do with my bichon. My dog is very well behaved with groomers, always heard back that he did so well from groomers. Short review: Friendly store staff and manager in general but Irresponsible groomer with an attitude exist. if you want a friendly and professional groomer this isn't where you want to go. I usually don't complain to groomers about incidents that happen during the grooming as unexpected events can occur (such as bleeding while cutting nails). When I saw some marks on my dog's belly that looked like either a cut or burn, I took him back to the groomer to consult since I should know what happened in case it bothers him later throughout the day. The groomer, pulling the red area on the skin (repeatedly telling me oh this shouldnt hurt him, trust me I can do this and this doen't bother him) insisted that this 'skin irritation' will go away in couple of hours and it can happen because 1) dog's skin was too dry 2) allergic reaction 3) razor was not clean and overheated. It does sound like one of them but shouldn't groomer at least inform me when I'm picking up the dog, or apologize when I asked him about it at least? All three of the reasons sound like groomer's responsibilities to me. Clearly, if this never happened before with different groomers, it must have been someone's responsibility. Groomer kept denying on taking responsibilities for it, no apologies and asked me what do I want him to do. And told me that I can talk to his manager and he would tell me the same thing. I wasn't angry at him first but his attitude with this situation made me regret leaving my dog with an irresponsible groomer. Anything can happen with dogs while owners aren't watching and all we can rely on is that the groomer is a responsible and professional groomer. Oh also, he had some chunk of hairs on his back sticking out and none of my requests were done (plucking ear hairs, keeping ear hairs short) The store manager was very respectful and offered a full refund of the service. He understood that this is a very concerning situation for a dog owner and apologized. The groomer was rolling his eyes in the back while his manager was apologizing. I'm leaving this review because I won't be taking my dog to this grooming salon soley because of that groomer. Every other times I've had a great experience here with staffs but one irresponsible groomer can cause bigger accidents and I don't want to take that risk. Oh also I've never seen any groomers pulling on dogs neck so aggressively while grooming the face area. That can be a subjective comment, but out of all the groomers I've seen he was def the most aggressive. Dear groomer who gave my dog the worst haircut of his doglife, If you do read this review, you knew that you messed up somewhere and as a groomer you should be sympathetic to dog owner's concern with situations like this even if you think it's not a big deal. I wouldnt have called your manager (which you asked to do so) or leave a review if you would have admitted that this is a razor burn that YOU caused, apologized and explained that it shouldn't bother him too much. You admitted that you gave him an unfinished hair cut and offered to do his cut again. I dont know if it's because you were in a rush or other dog owners visiting this store were nice enough to not complain but please have some professionalism. Unless you think petsmart groomers don't need that professionalism then I guess I just went to the wrong place. read more

This place isnt how it used to be before as in before covid 19.. There are extremely very few live pet animals on display, very small amount of fish, most tanks are empty or have depressing settings.. I had my dog bathed at the Petsmart. They were supposed to give him a bath, brush him, clip his nails and trim his paws. When I dropped him off, they said it would take 2-3 hours. Since he is a large dog with long hair, I added an extra hour cushion. 4 1/2 hours later I had not heard anything from them. I finally went to pick him up because I had other commitments and they had not brushed him, clipped his nails or trimmed his paws. On top of all that, I still tipped the groomer who bathed him (Nevaeh) and told her that I didn't want her to be punished for someone incorrectly telling me it would be 2-3 hours when it actually turned out to be 5 hours, and she could not have been more rude. I really don't understand why service providers feel the need to express attitude when they have screwed up. Just apologize, acknowledge why the customer is frustrated, say thanks for receiving a tip anyway, and then try to do better. Obviously not coming back here after paying $107 for my dog to just have a bath (I brushed him and clipped his nails when I got home). read more

I had taken my dog to Petsmart on Rockville to get groomed about 5-6 times per year for several years - dozens of times. They always did a fine job - hence why I was a repeat customer for these appointments which cost about $80 plus tip and took about 3-4 hours. Today, I went to drop off the dog and they cancelled the appointment because I was 15 minutes late. They cancelled on a several dozen times repeat customer because I was 15 minutes late for an appointment for which they keep the dog for four hours. So, you lost a customer and earned this review from someone who yesterday would have given you 5 stars. read more

The store is generally stocked with the items that I am looking for when I visit and it is consistently organized for the most part. Although, the customer service needs significant improvement. There is almost always only one retail sales associate at checkout, which increases the wait time for long line of customers who are looking to purchase their items. Most of the sales associates that I have encountered at checkout have a negative attitude and are not friendly. It is evident they are not happy to be working there, which is unfortunate. There are times when I have encountered untrained sales associates, too. I would recommend visiting PetSmart's other locations (Germantown and The Kentlands) if you are looking for better customer service. read more

I sent the following report to PetSmart in November 2021 Our dog, Sophie . . . is a 10 year old small goldendoddle, In fine health, easy going, happy and friendly, who never has problems with people or other dogs. I really mean never. The only thing that bothers her is thunderstorms. Sophie has been groomed at the Rockville Md Petsmart for 9 years. A couple of times she was completely shaved. We didn't like that, but it didn't bother Sophie. On Monday November 1, she was groomed at that store, shaved, and reportedly had some ticks and fleas (which surprised us because she is treated for that). In any event, after grooming, she shivered for five days. And exhibited other signs of trauma. I spoke personally with her groomer, Tiera. I told her of Sophie's problems, explained that I wasn't interested in making a complaint, but I needed to know what happened so we could deal with it appropriately. She said nothing happened, Sophie was fine. But if I wasn't satisfied i could talk with her supervisor. Of course I can't know for sure. But the unexplained transformation of Sophie is so inconsistent with her nature and history. She just brushes off unpleasant experiences. And previously we saw nothing that indicated grooming upset her. Also, I didn't find her groomer credible. Nothing I can prove, just my opinion -- a sense that she was uncomfortable from the beginning, wanted to end the conversation ASAP, and just seemed closed. Fortunately, Sophie seems ok now. But it's hard to imagine trusting PetSmart with our pup again. PETSMART never replied. I asked our vet about this and she, who is a cautious, thoughtful person, told me some horror stories about PetSmart grooming. So I asked for a recommendation, took Sophie there. She was matted as usual, but came back looking like herself, not shaved, nicely trimmed, and her usual happy, unworried self. Same price as PetSmart. PetSmart Grooming is too often bad news for your pup. read more

PetSmart - My confirmation - Pet Training Near Me - Kensington, Maryland

We had the worst experience this time with the grooming of our dog. Korin- maybe a new hire but unwelcoming from the moment we reached 14 mins late told us that we would actually need to cancel as we were 18 mins late but would take our dog this time. Also- we did not see until 3 days later that she shaved the skin off on our dog's lower back on both sides one worse than the other and he was wincing in pain as the area was red with dried blood and scabs. Had no courtesy to inform us or give a report. Never happened in the past! Paid $150 for services. I had a bad gut feel from the moment we walked in leaving our pet with someone rude and unwelcoming. Will not be bringing him back there. read more

If you care about animals, skip this store. I saw how they displayed and treated betta fish and it is horrible. They are displayed in glass jars, about the size of a drinking glass with a diameter not much greater than the length of their tiny bodies. They can turn around, that is about it. The concept of profiting by selling living creatures should not be a part of a pet store's goal. As a one-time loyal customer, I'll never go to PetSmart again. read more

We took our long haired cat in for grooming recently. When we got him back he was still damp and had mats left on his stomach. Please find it in your hearts petsmart. This Petsmart assigned me to a Dr. Narute. I'm not sugar if this was the correct spelling. He prescribed my dog medication that caused her side effects and became blind. This place gave my dog blindness. I'm thankful to the Lord that she didn't die. They even said she has nuerolgoical problems and might even have cancer. My beuatiful lovable best friend. How could they do this and not even offer to comepensate me. All the the other doctor, Dr. Parma or something like that said she will let the higher ups know abotu what happened to see if they can help me. And said they would call the next day or tomorrow. My poor beaitful dog that I've developed a connect with. If you see this Petsmart, you caused my dog blindness. If you find it in your hearts to help me with anything I would be so grateful. I loved shopping here more than PetCo and now this happened. I suffer from a disablity from side effects of medication and now my dog has been cursed to have it also. I just wanted to warn people. And see if Petsmart has it in thier heart to do something for me. I'm sorry for the one star but my dog nearly died. My quality of life has been shattered. Please Petsmart. I suffer in life so much. And now my poor animal is suffering. She can barley get up and I try so hard to work to have money to take care of her but I'm disabled. Yes it's her belly because she is gaining weight also but she was clear of illness when I got her from the pet shelter. I know I'm just one owner but I felt a connection to my dog. Like God made her for me. I know it's cheesy but I try to make it seem interesting the way I met her but she means the world to me. She's my reason for living. Don't let us suffer like this.
