Brittany helped us do an incredible 180 with our two adopted dogs, which has, without exaggeration, improved the overall quality of our life. Five weeks ago, we couldn't let visitors into our home through the front door, walk past other dogs, or be in-the-midst of little ones without major stress for both dogs and humans alike. Fast forward to now, and our dog-reactive pup can pass other dogs on walks with minimal (and occasionally, no) reaction; our kid-fearful pup can hang out near the chaos of little ones playing at the park without stressing out; and we can do introductions with guests visiting our home that don't make us dread having visitors. Prior to Brittany's help, I hadn't walked one of the two in more than a year because the experience was always so stressful. Now, I'm proud every time he turns to me for cues and reassurance as we go on more confident walks together. Our training experience with Brittany really strengthened our trust of, and bond with, both dogs. Like I said, life-changing. Here's what we loved most about working with her: 1. She genuinely cares about our dogs and treated them like she'd treat her own fur-child. It put all of us at ease. 2. She does 100% positive reinforcement behavior training, so we knew (and believed in) her methodology. 3. She customized the training plan for our dogs. We got to pick our top priorities, and she chose the specific activities that would help us and our fur-children accomplish those goals. I could go on and on... we're just so thankful we found her. Thank you so much, Brittany! read more

We had Brittany as the instructor for our pup's Basic Manners class. She was great to work with: she provided clear instruction and helpful advice, created a positive learning environment for the pups, and was willing to drill down on more specific issues we were having. Super prompt communication via e-mail, and took COVID precautions seriously to keep everyone safe. Highly recommended! read more

We cannot speak highly enough about Brittany and her work with our pup, Indie. Indie was extremely fearful as she was from a hoarding case. She was not responding to other typical forms of training, so we reached out to Dances with Dogs. Brittany quickly built a connection with Indie and we have seen incredible progress with our pup's understanding of basic commands, and with tackling behavioral issues. Brittany is incredibly professional, warm, and has always been there for us when we have questions. She also writes recap emails for us so we can remember what we should be doing when she's not with our pup. Really couldn't hope for a better trainer for our "pandemic pup". Thank you, Brittany!! read more

Brittany has made my adoption of an older dog amazing. She met with us at my house/yard and we set up goals. She made sure that she understands what my lifestyle is and also who would be a part of my dog's life. When my pupper had leg surgery she came by to visit and check in on him and me. She always sends detailed follow up reports and checks in between sessions. She does not push a "package" and is willing to meet me and my dog in different locations to work on different situations. Her approach is definitely based on the dog and owner and not the same for every dog. read more

Our dog is very reactive and could not handle seeing people or dogs on walks. She gets very stressed and would begin to make a noise that was akin to a child screaming. Obviously, this is very stressful for us as well and we desperately wanted to be able to walk our dog without having to peek around every corner to figure out what was ahead. We found Brittany on Yelp and decided to go with her due to her extensive experience with animals and her specialization with anxious dogs. We did 3 training sessions with Dances with Dogs and we're so happy we did because Brittany is an absolutely fantastic trainer. She is very down-to-earth and put us all (humans and dog) at ease. She comes up with a plan based on our unique situation and gives very clear instructions on how to train our dog. If we ever have more questions, she's easily reached by email. Regarding emails, she always sends a followup email which we can go back to to remember our training regimen. After only 3 training sessions across about 2 months, our dog isn't completely there yet, but the progress is substantial. We are so pleased and will definitely be doing more sessions. read more

Brittany with Dances with Dogs is wonderful! Our pitbull mix doggo needed a bit of expert training and guidance, and we are glad we found Brittany to help. We had private sessions with her to work on: following commands when walking, focusing/attention, patients, leash pulling, and other leash walking skills. Brittany offered fabulous advice and answered all of our questions. I appreciate her positive reinforcement style of training. Brittany took the time to listen to our concerns, offer suggestions, and practice techniques during our session. Following our in-person training, she sends a follow up email reiterating our training sessions and attaches additional information. I highly recommend! read more

Brittany has been wonderful working with our dog, Ellie. We adopted Ellie from the humane society when she was 5 years old. Brittney has been great helping us train/re-train her. We've been getting Ellie used to having her paws touched and her nails trimmed, reducing her reactivity to other dogs, and learning tell signs before she wants to nip. I chose the day training sessions where Brittany works with Ellie while I'm at work, and then I join once a week to learn all the commands (i.e. person-training!). I really appreciate that Brittany gives write-ups of the sessions and commands. It makes it easier to reinforce everything with Ellie throughout the week. Brittany has great advice on all kinds of questions and behavioral situations. I highly recommend her. read more

I hire Dances with Dogs to help with training for our 6 month old pit-bull mix puppy. She came to our house and sat down with us to see what goals we wanted to achieve and to observe our dogs behavior. After speaking with us the first night and suggesting different behavior techniques we were already on our way to better behaved dog. We had her come for 4 private sessions and are very satisfied with our results. Since our baby is part pit-bull we need to make sure she is a great ambassador for the breed and now feel with have the tools and techniques to make this happen. Thanks Brittany. read more

Brittany is a find! She is wonderful with my fearful rescue dog, and she has taught us so much about how to manage our dog's behavior. I especially appreciate that she tailors her approach to our dog's personality. Our dog is timid, and Brittany helped us prioritize building her confidence and bonding with her, rather than focusing immediately on good manners. That was definitely the right approach. Brittany's goal is not to just 'fix' a dog, but to improve the relationship between dog and owner. She really listens to what we want from our dog, even if what we want is oddly specific, such as allowing the dog to get on our lap when we sit in the chair, but not when we are on the sofa. Her solutions to problems are thoughtful and creative, and she provides detailed emails after every visit summarizing the work she did and leaving instructions about how we can implement the same training exercises. Every third visit, she goes over the exercises with in person, which is very helpful too. She is also a lovely person and a pleasure to work with! I highly recommend her. read more

Brittany is a wonderful trainer for our four-month-old black lab mix. Brittany has given us some great tips that are easy to implement. Walking on a leash, recall, nipping: all have improved in the few weeks we have worked together. Brittany is very easy to work with and has a natural rapport with our puppy. We hope to continue the engagement in the future. We recommend her services without hesitation. read more

We're on our third puppy in 22 years and wanted to get off to a good start with this one. Like many things, dog training has evolved through the years and we wanted a trainer that could compliment the books we are reading. Brittany has been able to convert our book smarts to real life and is willing talk about advantages and disadvantages of different training ideas. She has a good disposition with our dog and has made good progress. She also has been patient, informative and responsive when dealing with us read more

Brittany came highly recommended from a friend who had worked with her to help her reactive dog. My pup was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and hates being alone. Since there isn't much time left, I asked around to see if anyone could stay with him while I was at work. Brittany was able to squeeze us in, and was extremely kind, compassionate, and helpful. I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for help with their pups. read more

Very happy with Brittany. Our rescue was super reactive and high energy. After her sessions with Brittany, she's now more confident, relaxed, and has learnt to enjoy her time with her family. We had issues with barking which almost stopped now. She used to take us on a walk before, now we can walk her with a true loose leash walk. Her anxiety has calmed down so much that she'll just relax with her chew toy and be with us. We had a whole group of strangers over recently and once they settled, she was as sweet as can be with them. This would have been a disaster without Brittany teaching us what to do. I'd highly recommend her to anyone. I only wish that there were more than five stars for Brittany because she deserves more. read more

Brittany does amazing work! She was great at identifying what motivates my dog and human reactive pup, and helping her make different choices. Her instructions were always insightful, thorough and reasonable for all the humans and dogs involved. My dog trusted her very quickly and genuinely enjoyed our sessions. I'm so thrilled with all the progress my dog has made. read more

I had the privilege of working with Brittany on strategies to help my reactive dog cope when in proximity to other dogs. She helped me to understand what to do to help my dog, when to do it, and why. Several trainers had helped me and my dog with similar skills before, but Brittany brought context to the training that was really helpful. She was also consistent and genuinely positive. As my dog can be a stressful pup to be around, I particularly appreciated her calm demeanor and lack of judgment. read more

This review for Brittany is way overdue! Brittany worked with our Covid pup, Stella over the course of three weeks. All I can say is, "wow!" Stella is such a different dog now! Stella struggled with new people and was anxious on walks when other dogs were anywhere close. She would either lunge, or run. After working with Brittany we noticed that Stella is much calmer on walks, when she sees other dogs walking, she rarely reacts or tries to run away. Stella has a new confidence now. She walks soooo much better too, she never pulls and constantly checks in to see our reaction before she reacts. It's honestly amazing and something we never thought was possible. Stella is also a lot more comfortable with other people, she has recently bonded with our next-door neighbor and continues to show interest in new people. Additionally, Brittany taught Stella the "come" command and it's been a life changer. Stella used to just run back into the backyard and we could never get to her come in, but we just do the command and she ALWAYS comes in! Thank you Brittany! read more

Brittany was amazing with my pittie, Athena, in pulling her away from distractions with food lures and other forms of positive reinforcement. She did great demonstrating how to teach Heel, Let's Go, and other great training tools to use when my dog gets too distracted, nervous, or excited when seeing other people or dogs on leash. Brittany took the time to listen to our needs and came up with a variety of great solutions that would work for our family. Definitely recommend! read more

My dog and I took a group class with Brittany through the Humane Rescue Alliance. She was great at not only teaching but also at helping find personalized solutions for me and my pup when the typical approach didn't work. Thanks! read more

I am a relatively new pet sitter, and I recently took on an assignment that had the potential to be somewhat challenging for me. I have lots of experience with cats, but very little with dogs, and I was preparing to spend an entire week with a 3 year old coonhound, a 2 year old pit bull, and a 16 year old arthritic, blind rat terrier. Britney came by on the first day of my assignment, with the owners permission, and gave me some great tips and pointers. Britney came highly recommended to me by another trainer, and I now know why; it is clear that she really knows her stuff, and she is a wonderful communicator... With both her canine and her human clients! I look forward to recommending her to my pet sitting clients who are looking for a trainer. read more

I can't say enough good things about our dog training. We had a reactive dog that made walking him in the city very painful. We were lucky to find Brittany through a friend, and I was so impressed after just two sessions with our pup. We opted for 9 sessions in total to work on reactiveness, overexcitement, and leash training. It was the best investment we've made for him. He has done a complete 180 and is now a pleasure to walk because of her. Brittany is so knowledgeable about dog behavior and great at formulating a custom plan to tackle the root problem. Her explanations and objective observations were extremely helpful in correcting dog and human behavior. After each meet up, she gave us a detailed write up with reminders and tips for success with our pup. Scheduling was easy and she was communicative along the way. Our pup loved working with her! read more

My husband, dog and I all thoroughly enjoyed working with Brittany. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish -- her first visit we spent an hour talking about our needs, our dog's personality and quirks, and she went over a quick game plan with us and started training! She is very clear and concise in how she explains things and made me feel like I was a natural and was doing a great job. After each session she followed up with me with pointers on how to keep training effectively between sessions and was quick to answer any further questions I had. I really feel like we got so much out of our sessions together and feel like we can keep progressing because now we have so many different tools to succeed! She is so kind and my dog absolutely adores her, we would highly recommend to anyone looking for training! read more

Brittany was the trainer for the Reactive Dog I group class I took through the Humane Rescue Alliance, and I would highly recommend her to those working through reactive dog issues. She is very patient with both her human and dog clients, and provided great tips and one-on-one pointers to us--even in a 6-person group class! Our dog Cosmo (and in turn us as handlers) made leaps and bounds of progress over the 6-week class; and Cosmo LOVED Brittany (and her treats). Brittany sent out friendly "homework" emails after each class to help us apply the skills learned in class in the "real-world" and even provided a yummy treat for Cosmo as a graduation gift at the end of 6 weeks. Really nice to see those personal touches :) Our time with Brittany was definitely money well spent! read more

Brittany has been awesome helping my 9 year old pit bull mix overcome dog reactivity and anxiety issues! For years we completely avoided other dogs and stressful situations. With Brittany's help, my dog is getting used to being near other dogs and is starting to be more relaxed around things that used to cause her to bolt in the other direction. I really like Brittany's positive training techniques. I also liked that the training has been aimed at reducing my dog's stress levels while we do training. My dog used to get so anxious or focused on another dog that she wouldn't listen to me in stressful situations. Now she's much more relaxed and we're able to practice what we learn during training. Training(and all the treats!) is pretty fun for my dog now. Brittany is also very thorough with follow ups after the training sessions and answering questions. My dog is much happier going out for walks now and I'm glad to be able to take her to more places. Wish we'd started training with Brittany years ago. read more
