Brittany has made my adoption of an older dog amazing. She met with us at my house/yard and we set up goals. She made sure that she understands what my lifestyle is and also who would be a part of my dog's life. When my pupper had leg surgery she came by to visit and check in on him and me. She always sends detailed follow up reports and checks in between sessions. She does not push a "package" and is willing to meet me and my dog in different locations to work on different situations. Brittany helped us do an incredible 180 with our two adopted dogs, which has, without exaggeration, improved the overall quality of our life. Five weeks ago, we couldn't let visitors into our home through the front door, walk past other dogs, or be in-the-midst of little ones without major stress for both dogs and humans alike. Fast forward to now, and our dog-reactive pup can pass other dogs on walks with minimal (and occasionally, no) reaction; our kid-fearful pup can hang out near the chaos of little ones playing at the park without stressing out; and we can do introductions with guests visiting our home that don't make us dread having visitors. Our dog is very reactive and could not handle seeing people or dogs on walks. She gets very stressed and would begin to make a noise that was akin to a child screaming. Obviously, this is very stressful for us as well and we desperately wanted to be able to walk our dog without having to peek around every corner to figure out what was ahead. We found Brittany on Yelp and decided to go with her due to her extensive experience with animals and her specialization with anxious dogs. We did 3 training sessions with Dances with Dogs and we're so happy we did because Brittany is an absolutely fantastic trainer. She is very down-to-earth and put us all (humans and dog) at ease. She comes up with a plan based on our unique situation and gives very clear instructions on how to train our dog. If we ever have more questions, she's easily reached by email. Regarding emails, she always sends a followup email which we can go back to to remember our training regimen. Brittany has been wonderful working with our dog, Ellie. We adopted Ellie from the humane society when she was 5 years old. Brittney has been great helping us train/re-train her. We've been getting Ellie used to having her paws touched and her nails trimmed, reducing her reactivity to other dogs, and learning tell signs before she wants to nip. I chose the day training sessions where Brittany works with Ellie while I'm at work, and then I join once a week to learn all the commands (i.e. person-training!). I hire Dances with Dogs to help with training for our 6 month old pit-bull mix puppy. She came to our house and sat down with us to see what goals we wanted to achieve and to observe our dogs behavior. After speaking with us the first night and suggesting different behavior techniques we were already on our way to better behaved dog. Brittany is a find! She is wonderful with my fearful rescue dog, and she has taught us so much about how to manage our dog's behavior. I especially appreciate that she tailors her approach to our dog's personality. Our dog is timid, and Brittany helped us prioritize building her confidence and bonding with her, rather than focusing immediately on good manners. That was definitely the right approach. Brittany's goal is not to just 'fix' a dog, but to improve the relationship between dog and owner. She really listens to what we want from our dog, even if what we want is oddly specific, such as allowing the dog to get on our lap when we sit in the chair, but not when we are on the sofa. Her solutions to problems are thoughtful and creative, and she provides detailed emails after every visit summarizing the work she did and leaving instructions about how we can implement the same training exercises. Very happy with Brittany. Our rescue was super reactive and high energy. After her sessions with Brittany, she's now more confident, relaxed, and has learnt to enjoy her time with her family. We had issues with barking which almost stopped now. She used to take us on a walk before, now we can walk her with a true loose leash walk. Her anxiety has calmed down so much that she'll just relax with her chew toy and be with us. We had a whole group of strangers over recently and once they settled, she was as sweet as can be with them. This would have been a disaster without Brittany teaching us what to do. This review for Brittany is way overdue! Brittany worked with our Covid pup, Stella over the course of three weeks. All I can say is, "wow!" Stella is such a different dog now! Stella struggled with new people and was anxious on walks when other dogs were anywhere close. She would either lunge, or run. After working with Brittany we noticed that Stella is much calmer on walks, when she sees other dogs walking, she rarely reacts or tries to run away. Stella has a new confidence now. She walks soooo much better too, she never pulls and constantly checks in to see our reaction before she reacts. It's honestly amazing and something we never thought was possible. Stella is also a lot more comfortable with other people, she has recently bonded with our next-door neighbor and continues to show interest in new people. Additionally, Brittany taught Stella the "come" command and it's been a life changer. I am a relatively new pet sitter, and I recently took on an assignment that had the potential to be somewhat challenging for me. I have lots of experience with cats, but very little with dogs, and I was preparing to spend an entire week with a 3 year old coonhound, a 2 year old pit bull, and a 16 year old arthritic, blind rat terrier. I can't say enough good things about our dog training. We had a reactive dog that made walking him in the city very painful. We were lucky to find Brittany through a friend, and I was so impressed after just two sessions with our pup. We opted for 9 sessions in total to work on reactiveness, overexcitement, and leash training. It was the best investment we've made for him. She is very patient with both her human and dog clients, and provided great tips and one-on-one pointers to us--even in a 6-person group class! Our dog Cosmo (and in turn us as handlers) made leaps and bounds of progress over the 6-week class; and Cosmo LOVED Brittany (and her treats). Brittany sent out friendly "homework" emails after each class to help us apply the skills learned in class in the "real-world" and even provided a yummy treat for Cosmo as a graduation gift at the end of 6 weeks. Brittany has been awesome helping my 9 year old pit bull mix overcome dog reactivity and anxiety issues! For years we completely avoided other dogs and stressful situations. With Brittany's help, my dog is getting used to being near other dogs and is starting to be more relaxed around things that used to cause her to bolt in the other direction. I really like Brittany's positive training techniques. I also liked that the training has been aimed at reducing my dog's stress levels while we do training. My dog used to get so anxious or focused on another dog that she wouldn't listen to me in stressful situations. Now she's much more relaxed and we're able to practice what we learn during training. Training(and all the treats!) is pretty fun for my dog now. Brittany is also very thorough with follow ups after the training sessions and answering questions.
