Came here for some prescription cat food, which is kept in a separate area from the "normal" versions of food from that brand. Store layout is not the most obvious so had to ask staff to help me out, which they did. Customer service was attentive when I called with an issue and it was quickly resolved. read more

I've brought our dog here twice for doggie day camp and I was highly disappointed both times. I dropped my dog off the first time thinking that he had a full day at camp running around and having fun with other dogs. When I picked him up and asked how he did, the employee told me that they had to board him in the afternoon since there weren't enough dogs for camp that day. I asked why no one called me to tell me this so that I could've made some arrangements to pick up my dog earlier so that he wouldn't have to be boarded and they didn't have an answer. I decided to take a leap of faith and take him to doggie day camp again and turns out there weren't enough dogs for both sized dogs (small and large) so they combined them together into one room. They informed me that our dog barked at some of the larger dogs (keep in mind they always split up the dogs by size but I guess that's not the case here) and so he was only allowed "30 min of play time" with an employee and had to be boarded up the rest of the day. This is the most upsetting experience we've had with Pet Smart doggie day camp. We usually bring him to the Pasadena or Sugar Land locations but we definitely won't be bringing him back to this location even though this location is super close by to our home. P.S. if you try to respond by saying you can't look me up in your records, it's under my fiancé's name so this is a true and valid review for your facility. read more

When we took them out to go home the dogs immediately had to go and relieved their bowels and it was as I'd they had went for the first time all day. The day beds wreaked of urine and they did not wash them out. They used to do this in the past. They toys we left and the bowls for their meals were not used. Things have changed there, as if they were not caring. We will never use them again. When we picked up the dogs, they were forlorn and not happy as they usually are. They seemed tired and sleepy. All in all I think it went well. There were no issues and the place is very clean and the staff are very nice. I chose the silver package. It came with a Kong toy to keep her busy and 30 minutes of individual play with a staff. They have the option of allowing your dog to play with a group of other dogs but I decided not to go that route. Also first time pets get a free ice cream (no dairy). read more

Definitely listen to the customer reviews. Left my dog at the pets hotel and apparently they were without power between 1-3 days. Hard to tell what really happened because the manager said they were intermittently without power or at least without power for brief periods at a time but at the same time was saying that they never had the chance to give my dog a bath so their stories aren't lining up. My review is only about the Doggie Day Care and Pet Hotel, not the store and/or merchandise. Basically, I was lied to several times October through December 2020 about the doggie day camp at 610 loop/Westpark location. The person taking reservations (in another state), and the Asst Manager, and the manager, Jackie G, all told me that they SEPARATE the small dogs from large. Since I had a little 10 lb puppy, this point (which they advertise on their website) was VERY important to me, and they knew this. However, after making the reservations specifying that Rosie play in the small dog room, I arrived to see everything from 5 lb to 130 lb dogs in one room with only 1 person there and one person up front. They were understaffed most of 2020 and quite possibly now. The manager and asst manager lied to me in person and over the phone to get my business there. The offsite phone reservation lady was never told about the combining of dogs, she was trying to assure me that large dogs were indeed separated from small, so I asked her to call the store. She did and then told me I was correct, they had all dogs in one room due to being understaffed. Listen to this: Once, while walking in with Rosie, all the huge + small dogs rushed up to the glass, which is typical, and I saw a few small dogs being trampled under the weight of one or two massive dogs in the room. Small dogs were shrieking and yelping, but the overworked employee was apathetic. NOT SAFE to put a130 and 5 lb dogs in one room. read more

I've really never been more disappointed with my experience at a pet smart before. I showed up with shot record and appointment confirmation in hand and when I walked in two groomers (one named Christian) were arguing about their schedules for the day and who had to do what. It took almost 5 minutes before someone looked up to help me. When they did, he said they couldn't find my appointment. I pulled out the email that did 5/29/21, 9:00am. He left to get his manager, they came back and she insisted I had cancelled my appointment. I again showed them the confirmation with today's date and time, and she became rude and insisted I had cancelled, they were overbooked, and they couldn't see me. And did not ring up two different items. So this made my purchase a little more costly. My home store, the manager would not assist. Directed that I had to go back to original store. I have to share something which was almost a catastrophe into a huge win! We adopted a couple of puppies recently who became very sick in just a few days and needed a lot of love and care. After meeting with the adoption agency and the Petsmart management team I was very happy with the response and professionalism. There were several learns on both sides and together we were able to bring these puppies back to life. I handle situations every day which are not in my control so I appreciate when a manager or team member from another company listens, takes appropriate action and does the right thing! This team along with their adoption partners were great. Huge kuddo's to Arie, Sharon and the entire Vet team for doing the right things for the puppies and our family. I really don't like this location :( I took my dog here to be boarded while I was out of town. She has not peed in the house since she was a baby, which was years ago. She is very well potty trained, but when they returned her to me, she and her blanket smelled like pee. This makes me believe they did not walk her enough. It's ridiculous that every time I come they don't have what I need and I come twice a month to see if the prescription food my dogs eat are in stock and to no surprise at all they never have it. 7 hours to bathe and shave a dog?????? There's no way groomer Crystal at the West Loop / Westpark location spent more than an hour and a half on my dog, and that's being generous. That means Crystal just shut her up in an unfamiliar kennel with a bunch of other unhappy dogs for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS. That's just cruel. It makes me very sad to have to give Petsmart such a poor rating. Especially since to take my dog Romeo there to be groomed and I was always happy when I picked him up. That was not the case the last time I had him groomed there. The person that was supposed to be grooming my dog was a seasoned groomer whom I booked. I came to find out that the guy in the back that washes the dogs was actually the person that groomed my dog. Not only did he nick him in several places, but he left the hair long underneath my dogs belly. How do I know that the booked groomer did not groom my dog,? When I came to pick up my dog, I asked where Christian was so that I could give him a tip, I was in a hurry and )I should've inspected Romeo first before wanting to give a tip. Instead of Christian coming out to receive the tip the guy in the back came out and said that he was the one who groomed my dog. When I got Romeo home and I could see all the damage that had been done I called Petsmart and told them I was very unhappy. They told me that they would give me a credit that I could use next time I came into the store. Well today I came into the store after many months expecting to be able to use my credit. I told the cashier I had a credit because of a bad grooming experience and when the cashier told me I had no credit, that is when I decided to finally write this review. To add injury to insult, My dog got a terrible rash after he was groomed there for the last time which leads me to believe that they did not clean their equipment in between dogs. :-( read more

Walking around & looking at the animals I notice how bad the animals are taken care of. Water that had clearly not been cleaned out in over a day in a birds cage (and I know birds water gets dirty easily) but this was disgusting and the water was yellow. Also finches should have horizontal cages to fly back and forth for exercise and did not have the room to do so. The reptiles DO NOT have enough room at all and it's very upsetting to see.. We tried walking around for literally 10 minutes trying to find an employee and there were literally no one on the floor other than the cashier lady..who is too nice so I didn't even want to complain to her. I have never felt Racially discriminated before. I was made feel like I couldn't purchase any fish there by Raygen. I have had fish for almost 15 years and I'm very aware of how to care for my fish. I decided to go inn and purchase some $50 dollar dog food as well as some more fish for my guppy fish tank. I wanted some algae bottom feeders and she told me she wouldn't recommend those cause they get 20 inches long and they also die quick. I told her I already have 2 and had them for 5 yrs and there only 4" long, I want 2 more for my larger fish tank. She walks away and comes back with an attitude trying to get me not to buy them. I say excuse me but it's my choice what I want to purchase. I'm well aware of what I'm getting and want. The audacity, her department's fish tanks looked dirty with some dead fish in them. She then spends like 10 mins chasing the fish with the net smushing them against the glass so at this point I tell her you win, you can keep your fish and walk off. I was so upset I asked to speak to a supervisor and when explaining to "Morgan" my concerns and her unprofessional attitude he just says Ok. Morgan didn't apologize, he just said Ok to everything I told him with that look in his face like he didn't give a shit so now I tell him. I'll go somewhere else and leave my whole basket there. He says Ok again. I have shopped here and never been treated in such manner. It was not a busy place when we visited. My daughter wanted to look at cats for her birthday and would have liked to pet a couple before deciding. She asked one of the cashiers for help and he called a manager. It took over 10 minutes for someone to come. She said she will call someone else to help us. That took over 15 minutes. Then it took a few more minutes. Hardly a few customers around but a bunch of employees hanging around doing nothing. I don't know where to start. I am so disappointed in this PetSmart. I dropped my fur baby off to the pet hotel on Tuesday. On Wednesday I received a phone call from Dustin around noon that may dog had been attacked in doggy day camp but not to worry she is fine and that they are taking her over to Banfield to get checked out (having Banfield insurance I told him to please let them do whatever they need to). He said ok and reassured me that she was fine. About an hour later I received a phone call from Banfield asking for permission to shave the hair off my dogs head. Confused by her request I asked why the doctor went on to say to make sure she didn't need any stitches. I then said to her I was told that the incident wasn't bad and the doctor told me that it was really bad and that she may need stitches, she also went on to say how terrified my dog was. I told her to do everything she can for Jucee and that she was insured. I also asked for a phone call when everything is done with an update of how she's doing since I was misinformed about the severity of the attack. FOUR hours go by and I don't hear from anyone, so I called and spoke to a man name Faung who was very rude and told me that he couldn't give any information to me about how my dog is doing and that I had to call in the morning. Furious at this point because I left my dog in their care she was attacked and now you can't tell me how my dog is doing in your care. My dog is not a rescue dog and I've had her since she was four months and this is upsetting and disheartening. I've lived in New York and North Carolina and never had an issue with PetSmart as a whole (Pet Hotel and Banfield). So instead of calling Thursday as instructed I decided to wait until Thursday evening when I was scheduled to pick her up. When I arrived there was no one at the desk, me and another customer waited for about 5-10 minutes before anyone acknowledge us. The lady on duty that night stated she was the manager and she wasn't there for the attack and wasn't sure why no one called and didn't know why the employee last night couldn't give me any info, very nonchalant I may add no apology or anything just a "you won't have to pay for her stay". She then goes and get Jucee and tells me that her bite wounds look like a skin infection or something she might've had already, offended by her excuse of the neglect shown to my dog I insisted we walk over to Banfield for confirmation. The doctor on duty confirmed that this was a bite mark and it will heal on its own and that Banfield covered the charge. Then I ask the Pet Hotel Manager why wasn't she being watched she says "these things happen" and "we didn't see anything on the video but they don't capture everything. Uneasy about the way my dog looked I followed up with another Banfield doctor that Saturday. She looked at Jucee and said the bite mark area was infected as the other office didn't give me any pain meds, antibiotics, etc. She then goes on to look behind the bite where there was more bite wounds that the other office didn't bother to tend too. She also told me that Jucee nails needed to be trimmed and teeth brushed (all of which I paid for during her stay that was not done) When she brought my bog out I broke into tear seeing almost all her hair shaven off her head not to mention the amount of pain she was in. Not only was I beyond upset with PetSmart this was $175 bill and now my dog has to wear a cone for 14 days. Immediately after I left there I went to the Banfield and Hotel that she was at and demanded an explanation. But again I had to wait 10-15 minutes this time to speak to anyone while I was there I noticed a camera watching a room full of big and little dogs together with no supervision for at least 5 minutes (which I recorded and took pictures) Not once did I receive a follow up call from when I picked Jucee up and why wasn't all her wounds addressed. No one could answer me not even the manager. I asked about the lack of communication still nothing. All that was told to me is that we will reimburse your $175 but it will take three weeks and that he would give me a follow up call and to see how Jucee is doing. It has been a week and I haven't heard anything. When I got home I look at Jucee and notice bites and scratched on her body. Again Jucee is a house dog so all of this happened during the attack and again she was neglected. Not sure of what I can do but PLEASE don't take your dog to this PetSmart for Pet Hotel, Grooming, and Banfield for the fear the will be mistreated, neglected, and unsafe as my dog was. Petsmart is very expensive and to think the services I paid for was not done, my dog was neglected and in return was attacked, and to this day I still have not received a phone call let alone an apology. Needless to say I'm disappointed and will never go to this PetSmart again I'm even thinking about looking into other insurance for her. read more

Took my dog Lily to the grooming salon and had the furminator treatment and nail grind. This is the second time I have had her groomed here. I brought her back because Ashley did an amazing job with her the first time and this time again the same! Lily gets scared at the groomers, vet or when I have to board her and Ashley was great with her. She looks amazing and the shedding is reduced SO much. Worst place ever. Bought a cone collar two days ago for my dog to prevent her from licking her wound. It turned out the size is too small (the staff recommended that size originally). We came here to change to a larger one, but the staff refused to change it just because they saw it's on our dogs neck and say it's already been used!! Setup our reservation for pickup at 7pm. Confirmed that pickup time 2 weeks ago. Dropped him off with nobody telling us that they were closing early on the 4th. Landed and called them and were told that nobody could ring us up so we couldn't pick him up AND that we're being charged for an additional day. Picked him up this morning and mentioned that nobody had mentioned this in the 3 interactions we had with them and the girl just shrugged and said they closed early on the 4th. I've boarded my two dacshunds here three times in the last two years. I wouldn't trust my dogs with just anyone, and Petsmart Pet Hotel has earned my trust. I board my dogs together, and enjoy the option of upgrading to a "suite" that includes a raised pet bed, and a TV that plays animal planet shows. The cost is well worth it, and I would never look for "cut-rate" or "cheap/bargain basement" lodging for my dogs, but I pay $39 for the first + $34 for the 2nd dog/per night when boarded together. TIP: Be sure all your dog/cat vaccines are up to date before booking a reservation. You can bring a blanket and 1 toy per pet, which I always do. They will also allow treats and I include a favorite Kong toy for my dogs. You have the option to include supervised play time as well as other grooming options. You can also designate an approved visitor to come by and check on your pets during regular business hours. I have done this on some longer stays and really appreciate this feature. This is a clean, professional, and well run boarding facility that I highly recommend. It is located inside the Petsmart store so you can pick up food, treats or anything else you need for your pet while boarding. There is also a Banfield Pet Hospital located onsite which gives me piece of mind in case. When you pick up your pets, they will also give you a "report card" letting you know how your pets behaved during your stay. Professional, courteous, caring, friendly staff. Flexible rates allow for travel delays etc, so don't worry about that. read more

WORST. PLACE. EVER. I took my small short haired pup for a simple grooming, turned nightmare. Since it was his first time grooming, I stayed and informed the groomer I would be in the store, as I was looking to adopt another pup that day. That night he began crying and I couldn't pick him up due to him being DROPPED and suffering a SEVERE SOFT TISSUE INJURY, which still bothers him years later. I addressed this with the store manager at the time who said there was NOTHING he could do... I went over his head and wrote a letter to their main office in CA. They apologized for my pup's injuries and reimbursed me for his medical bills. read more

MBA students, take note of this brilliant sales strategy. 1. Price puppy training low. 8 weeks for $108 (a steal in my eyes). 2. This ensures suckers like Fannet K. will automatically come here and drop $20-$75 on a weekly basis. 3. Hire congenial pet training staff so said sucker (Fannet K.) will be convinced this is her pup's favorite hour of the week to ensure enrollment in intermediate and advanced classes thus continuing the trend of Fannet K spending $20-$75 in pet supplies per week for an additional 16 weeks. Truly Genius. But seriously, pet training at Pet Smart with Terrie is MY favorite hour of the week. The classes are small (there are a total of 3 other pups in the class with my Ruby). Aside from the hilarity that ensues when pets are treated like students (think "Kids Say the Darnedest Things" but with dogs), Terrie, our trainer, does an outstanding job teaching you how to train your 4 legged pal. I'll admit, I've read a lot of the lessons she provides us with in books. However, reading it and understanding the exact technique a book is trying to convey is very different. Terrie gives each owner and pup a lot of individual attention so you know you are training correctly. I am halfway though my 8 sessions and already feel like my investment paid off. I am 100% sure I will be signing up for the next set of classes. True story: I never see Ruby more happy than after a session at Petsmart. For a Yelper that leaves her beloved pup at home for 8 hours a day while she works - that's the least I can do for her. Score! Trainers usually provide you with coupons after each session that I have found handy (for $$$ off treats, crates, etc.) read more

Every time I need help finding something I always get "I don't know if we have that so I can't help you" from their sales associates. Who says that? A lot of the negative reviews appear to be regarding the grooming services, and I can tell you personally I stopped using their grooming YEARS ago because of bad service, or service that took WAY too long to complete. And my dog is a short haired breed that doesn't require a cut or anything special. Regardless, it's still the closest pet store to me. Recently my vet (NOT the Banfield vets, long story) put poor little Pheebs (my 10 y/o pit bull) on a vegetarian diet. Originally we tried the prescription vegetarian blend, but it was too costly. Instead, this Petsmart has another vegetarian blend that Phoebe actually loves. They've only got the one OTC brand, so there's not a lot of choice for vegetarian, but for everything else they've got a wide selection of everything. There are always a lot of staff around, and I've never had an issue with absent or rude staff. I will say occasionally there can be a short wait to check out, but usually they'll call for backup and get it immediately. We've also used their pet boarding, and Pheebs seemed to have a great time and got a glowing report card from her stay. read more
