Our dogs love going to daycare and they're always exhausted by the time they come home! Our puppy knows when we're pulling in and will sometimes jump out of the car without being leashed yet. The staff are friendly and they truly care about all the dogs. If it's your dog's first time attending daycare, they will allow your dog to try it out for a few days to see if it's a great fit! There's no pressure to sign up which is great. I love that they have several cameras that are turned on during the day (Dogtopia turns their cameras off from 12-2) so that I can check on the dogs frequently. I have been coming to Camp Run-A-Mutt ever since August of 2021, and I love this place! Recommended by my vet, Camp Run-A-Mutt is a great place to take your dog for daycare! Since I work in Downtown, the Galleria location is very convenient for me since it is (sort of) on my way to work! They have a very welcoming front foyer and the staff are all nice and friendly! This daycare has an indoor and outdoor area, along with a pool/fountain water play area! There are no toys (which can cause aggression), so dog socialization is the number one priority! My golden retriever has an awesome time here, she comes home so tired and always wants to go back! They offer Half-Day (less than 6 hours) and Full-Day (at least 6 hours or more) packages, and none of them expires! Hope to see you at Camp! read more

We boarded our dog for the first time here. And thought it was such a good place. They had cameras where we can check in our dog during business hours. And dogs not locked up for most of the day. What we couldn't see was that they didn't pay him any real attention or check on his wellbeing. When my husband and kids brought him home we noticed the hair under his ears was all matted and sticky. We paid for him to be bathed before pickup. His ears had a terrible odor. He had scratched himself so much do to an ear infection and hot spots under his ears that it was raw and bleeding. When I called they told me they noticed he liked playing in the water a lot. And was sorry they didn't notice his scratching. My biggest complaint was that how did the person who bathed him hadn't noticed. Or anyone else who was supposed to be caring for the dogs. And why they hadn't said anything or notified us. We will not be returning and would never recommend this place. read more

I've been taking my 6 month old black lab here since he was 8 weeks old, and I can't say enough great things about these guys! Great hours and well priced. Can watch from the webcams at any time. From the second day on, they recognized my pup by name (and he's hear about 2x/week). The one time my dog was nipped at by another dog (they were changing rooms and the dogs were just overly excited) they called me immediately and let me know. We were excited to find this place for our new puppy. Little did we know it would lead to a major injury on my dog's first day. The staff seemed very kind and helpful. It was a great location for both my boyfriend and I. I would drop off and he would pick up. Our puppy's first day was Friday 4/29. The drop off was very easy and they seemed to be very caring and gentle with my dog. I was able to watch the "mutt cams" at points during the day. The cameras had many blind spots so you couldn't really see all areas. At one point I did see a woman in a green shirt swat at a dog because he was trying to get in the way of her hosing off the turf. At around 2:30pm they called us to let us know our puppy was injured. They said he was trying to jump up on to something and "landed wrong". We picked him up at little after 4pm and he was limping pretty badly and it only got worse. We took him to the vet early the next day and they told us he had a Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture. He'll have to have surgery that will cost in the range of $3k-$5k. This all happened at ONE day of doggy day care at Camp Run-a-Mutt. This is truly upsetting, and I feel like there had to be some form of negligence on their part. We definitely will not be returning. If you are thinking about taking your pet there please be cautious. They have high reviews, which is one reason we chose this place, but please consider all your options. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. It's heartbreaking to see our puppy in so much pain because of their inability to effectively monitor him. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough! I have been taking my pup there for 2 years & she is so comfortable at Camp Run-A-Mutt; most days, she walks through the front door like the owns the place! Both of the owners, Jonathan & Phu, make an effort to know you & your pup's names & all of the staff members there do the same. I take my dog for daycare about twice a week & boarding when needed. The lobby area is spacious & clean & so are the rest of their facilities. Indoor & outdoor areas are great (outdoor has a waterfall & pool area as well as tables) and have plenty of space for naps or playing. They also have cameras for you to watch your pup! Throughout the year, they will take pictures of your pup & print/send you copies (Valentine's, Halloween, Christmas, etc.). If you need more convincing, their Facebook & Instagram have great pictures of campers & their facilities! read more

Was taking my dog here to day care for a little bit. Took him 3-4 times for day care and boarded him for the first time this past weekend. He was very skinny when I picked him up which aggravated me because he didn't eat well at all and when they gave me back his bag of stuff, half the food I left for him to eat was still there. Mind you, I expected all of that food to be gone by the time I picked him up. And when I called to check on him they said he was "eating well". Nice facility, but too many dogs go there at once for them to be able to focus on certain dogs the way they should. Will not be taking him back. --I appreciate the owner Jon calling me. Communication is obviously something the staff needs to work on. If anything seems off or wrong about anyone's dog (such as not eating), me or anyone else would want to know. If I knew that, I wouldn't have left him there the entire weekend if he was uncomfortable and had anxiety. My baby didn't eat 2 feedings in a row and that is completely unacceptable. I even called the facility the day after he stayed his first night and they lied and said he was eating fine. Things like that I need to know so I can take him out of that situation. In the future, this facility needs to do better. It's gonna take awhile until Koda gets reassurance and is comfortable again. He's extremely mopey and sad and I hate to see that cause all of this could've been completely avoided. read more

So I wasn't going to post about this, but I really want people to hear this so you don't take your dogs there. I picked up Very after a couple nights boarding while I was moving to a new apartment. When I picked her up, her face was caked in dried black crud, which I assumed was dirt or mud. I stopped at Pet Supermarket on the way home and gave her a bath. That's where I realized what I was washing off her face was blood. Her eye was bloodshot, swollen and bleeding and there were deep cuts in her muzzle on that side. In the interest of not overreacting, I told myself well dogs play it's probably fine. Then I got her home... I have never seen her in such a state. She was DEPRESSED. Severely. And she couldn't stop rubbing her eye. The abridged version of my interaction with the owner Jon is: called him expressed my concerns he seemed to genuinely care and if I wanted to take her to the vet they would pay, which put me at ease so I said let's give it a couple days. Those passed and she was getting worse so the next time I talked to him he kept trying to say well you know dogs get eyes like this when they have allergies. That should have been my first clue, but I let him make me doubt myself. Sunday, which was a week later, I finally took her in. Very knows and loves our vet Dr. Lina Aziz, and her techs, and has never hesitated to jump right out of the car to go inside with them. This time, when the tech opened the door, Very leapt into my lap facing away from her, trying to hide her head behind the steering wheel and shaking so violently it shook my car. The tech and I looked at each other and both went WHOA wtf is going on. We had to physically pull her from the car. I have always said she could never be dognapped, because she would just go along with anyone thinking they're her new best friend. I have NEVER seen her recoil from ANYONE. So I emailed Jon and told him what happened, that I was now convinced SOMETHING happened to her in his facility. And that it was more than just a dog interaction. He never responded, he simply made a new email cc'ing Linas clinic to pay the invoice. THIS absolutely enraged me. Something terrible happened to my dog on his watch and the second I was clear about that he cut off all communication. I emailed him again later that night telling him how I really felt, who I thought was probably responsible, and that he should look at his staff. I don't even really know what else to say because I'm so livid still. I just want anyone I know to RUN in the opposite direction from Camp Runamutt on 59. They don't ACTUALLY care. read more

our dog attends doggy daycare once a week at the galleria location. he's still a young boy at age 3 with plenty of energy, constant zomies but after a day at Camp-Run-A-Mutt he's lethargic. we also board Buddy there because we prefer pack sleeping over being in an enclosed area alone. Our dog loves when he hears he's going to doggy daycare and yanks on his leash on the way in the door. we absolutely love this location, employees and manager are super friendly and love all the dogs. read more

I picked up my dog from boarding for a few nights. She came back THINNER. No one at the front desk could explain to me why she looked skinnier. I understand dogs become stressed when boarding and may not eat, but for some reason I was not informed that she wasn't eating. At other places, parents receive a report card indicating if their dog has eaten every meal and which staff member took care of them. I find it super strange that no one called me to tell me my dog wasn't eating because clearly that was the case. This is outrageous. Did she eat her breakfast on day 1 of boarding? what about dinner? did she have normal bowel movements or stressful diarrhea? WHO KNOWS! Take your dog somewhere else where people actually care and watch to make sure they are eating their meals, having normal potty habits, and exhibiting proper socialization during daycare. read more

So I read all the great yelp reviews, and thought this would have been the best place for my newly adopted fur baby! So I was wrong... Upon walking in, there was one person at the desk, she was friendly enough, but my bf or I didn't really feel that comfortable. She explained what would happen and that we could watch the temperament test on a tv in the front. We signed paperwork in the meantime, and waited for them to start the test. They took our nervous baby into a room with one person and brought in one dog at a time, until there was about 5-6 dogs I believe. He was scared, and this test was a little fast for him, we thought. We did tell them beforehand that he likes to warm up before having several dogs in his face. And this is exactly what happened. So the test lasted about 6 minutes before they brought him out and said he failed. The same person who was at the front desk brought him out, said he didn't do well, handed us his leash, and that was it. I asked her when he could try again and she said 6 months. But she offered no other info, and seemed very uninterested in us or the situation. We never got to see the facility, but on the camera we did see that there were upwards of 40 dogs in what looked like a small space. This may work for some people, but we are ok that this didn't work out for us, Dogtopia on Westheimer is a much better fit, and their entire staff is friendly!! So don't give up if your dog doesn't fit in here - there are so many great places to go! read more

Terrific. First of all the place is clean. At least up front. They care about their clients. I don't even have to walk them inside in the morning just open the door for the business, let their leashes go and they fly to the back for admittance to the play area. They go two half-days a week and that's enough to wear them out. All I have to say at home before we leave is "let's go to school" and they race to the back door to get in the car. Once I complained about our smaller dog being pulled by an employee with her collar on around her neck. I raised hell about it and it didn't happen again. Nice place. Good owners. There are fancier places to take your dog in Houston but I have no problem with them coming here at all. They have also had "sleep-aways" here too. read more

This establishment is horrible. My dogs were perfectly healthy and happy when I left them off. There were only there two days and one night and when I got them back, my boy dog had what seemed like the flu. Thick green snot and was very fatigued. And my girl dog got giardia and has had severe diarrhea. And she's very skiddish if you try and pet her. I suspect that they hit her. Will never send them there again. read more

No wonder she was shaking before going in. No wonder when I said dogie day care to her that she hid. This place is one of the top reasons I miss Houston. My dog always came home from boarding exhausted from all the play time he got. In fact, after his first boarding, when he realized we'd come back for him, at every subsequent boarding he didn't want to leave!!!! Camp Run-A-Mutt is the greatest place to take your pup for a fun-filled day. We've been taking our dog here for about a year now and she loves it. The staff are extremely friendly and do an amazing job taking care of your dog. Their kennel-free facilities and segregated yards (high energy and low energy dogs are typically kept separate) make for an excellent experience for your best friend. The outdoor yards have covered areas, misting fans and a fountain (high energy side) to help keep the dogs cool in the Houston heat. When it gets too hot, they have indoor facilities (also segregated) to allow for additional play in air conditioning. In addition to daycare, Camp also offers overnight boarding for those times you have to travel and leave your buddies behind. Pricing is extremely reasonable for daycare and boarding, which is made even better if you purchase multi-day packages all at once. The staff does a great job keeping track of your usage and gives you reminders when your packages are almost up. Most importantly, my dog is extremely excited whenever we pull up to Camp Run-A-Mutt. My very favorite doggie day care!! We absolutely love the owners and the staff. We left our one year old golden here for eight days and we bring her often for day camp. I can't say enough about how great the experience has been for me and for my boys. From the very beginning, John and Phu have been phenomenal. They answered all of my questions when I called on the phone, eased all my concerns when I went in for a tour and the temperament test, and even remembered all of our names when I showed up to drop them off for the first time. But one day Pepper was seriously injured here when her nail was ripped off exposing the entire quick, and they didn't even tell me when I picked her up. I have gotten an inside view from one of the employees of how the daycare is run and it's overcrowded, generally unsafe, and many aggressive dogs are allowed to stay and play here, despite numerous incidents. They told me that the employees are frequently injured by these out of hand dogs as well and that many unfixed puppies (even those who are not large breeds) are allowed to go unchecked for months after the 7 month cut off date. After hearing what the conditions really are like, I would never ever board my dogs here ever again. There are many other daycares in Houston where I can take my business. Seems like the owners just care about making money and not the safety and happiness of the dogs and the employees watching them. read more
