I explained this to them. 20 minutes after I dropped him off at Petsmart Lecanto for a grooming appointment they called for me to pick him up. Love coming to petsmart for grooming and training and shopping! Everyone is always super sweet and helpful! I started training with Sorcha when my dog was only 9-10 weeks old! We went through all 3 training levels with Sorcha so she really got to know and understand my dog. Now whenever we visit her at petsmart my dog gets super excited because she knows treats are around lol Petsmart grooming is also fantastic! The last 2 or 3 times my dog has seen Sabryna and she has done a fantastic job. I cannot speak on their haircuts because I have a Rottweiler so she only gets baths. I also get the nail grinding for my dog because her nails are black and very thick so cutting them does nothing. I highly recommend this location I can't say anything bad about them! read more

My dog has been coming here for six years. After the incident last month that a dog died at a PetSmart store, these people here seemed to be overly cautious. My dog is often nervous when I drop him off and they were fine with that for years. Now all of a sudden, they started to refuse service for him because he appeared being in stress. I don't see that they cared for the "dog's safety". What they showed was discrimination toward an elderly dog and inconsistency in their practice! Will never come back here. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone either! read more

This PetSmart location has gone from mediocre to, "I wouldn't shop here if it were the last pet store on the planet". On my last shopping trip, I was in the process of bagging my own pet supplies in a vacant checkout lane, requiring no employee time or assistance, and obstructing no one, when a grouchy woman I assume to be some level of management (since she wasn't working a cash register) told me, "I can't let you use so many bags". I did a double take. I had used a grand total of three plastic bags at that point (I ultimately used five), so that I could double bag the heavy pet supplies I would be carrying on foot for over a mile. Was PetSmart in such dire financial straits that they had to ration plastic bags? I offered to pay an extra quarter, surely several times the cost of the "extra" bags I was using, but she would have none of it. Unapologetic, unrelenting, single-mindedly focused on those one half cent each disposable plastic shopping bags she was. So while she glared at me, complaining about my profligate use of plastic shopping bags that every other retail establishment I've ever patronized simply gives away to customers with a smile, I finished bagging my pet supplies and left the store. Never to return again. Every pet food and pet toy one could want is available online, or from a pet store staffed by far friendlier and more professional employees. There is literally no reason to ever shop here, unless you crave mindless abuse. read more

I think this location has an okay selection for cat and dog food and treats, but less for toys and other products- especially for cats. I think the prices are slightly more expensive than if you were to shop online. It's not too bad and is actually convenient if you need to pick something up last minute. This store has been my go to since adopting my kitten! I would give them 5 stars but I've asked multiple times in the past couple of months if they could restock my kitten's favorite snack (freeze dried minnows) but every time I visit, there's none. They keep the store very clean and the employees along with the volunteers from the shelter seem to run the adoption events smoothly and I am sure many people are appreciative towards that. I hope that they hire more people soon because whenever I'm there, there's only one person working a register and I've seen the line get pretty long. Overall this is a great place to buy all your pets' needs and I hope to see those minnows soon read more

Grooming- I've been taking my Jack Russell mix here for over 3 years now and I've always had a great experience. They do a great job and the dogs are treated well which was my main concern. I tried another groomer and my dog had a rash after from restrains, but after petsmart my dog is always in great shape and although he hates baths and nail grinding he isn't stressed after. I feel very comfortable leaving him in the hands of the groomers and although it's a bit overpriced for me, the great haircut and smooth nails and happy dog are well worth the price. Tip your groomer!! Not many people do but I know they appreciate it and spend a lot of time making your dog comfortable. read more

I really appreciated that he went out of his way to go in depth in his explanations and even helped us find coupons. Thanks to him I now know that a heat lamp or pad is really helpful to keep them at a comfortable temperature. He definitely made a difference in my trip to Petsmart! read more

Well over priced. Sometimes I wait for 5 or 10 minutes just to get crickets. The cost of fish and reptile supplies are outrageous and I've been finding other places- online and locally- to buy from, instead. Pet items are okay if they're on sale but most all of the food you can find at Walmart or Target is MUCH, MUCH cheaper. Most of their food is from China, anyway (which has no food regulations for people- much less animals) despite the "quality" they claim. The store setup in Gainesville is.. odd. Others I've been to have been much more organized but I find myself looking for things at this one. I feel horrible for all the reptiles they keep because they're in the most minimum environment they can be- which causes stress. Same with many of their small animals (my ex got a rat with an upper-respiratory infection from there. Vet says it could have been treated with inexpensive medicine but obviously wasn't.) On adoption days, it's worse. I understand you're trying to do people control but Sats and Suns are my only days off so I'd like to get some help. The last thing I can't stand is their promotion of pure-breds. You hardly see any mutts and it's a shame because so many pets are mutts needing homes. If they would start advertising with more mutts, then maybe people wouldn't be so prone to breeding (a small, small nudge but a nudge none-the-less.) If you're looking for cheaper reptile supplies, PetCo is the one to go to. For everything else, look locally or online. read more

When I parked I was in a great mood - got out from work early, beautiful day and just needed to swing by PetSmart and pick up some grub for Schrödinger. Parking under a tree for shade I had to cross the entire parking lot and so I grabbed the cart I found out there, pushed it back and left it inside the door. "At least that's one less long trip in the sun for whoever has to get the carts" I thought. I proceeded to the catfood section to get a couple of cartons of canned food, then turned and went back to the cash registers. When I got there I was first thrilled to see there were no lines, then I realized there were no cash registers eather. "No biggie" I thought. There were two store attendants at the front door, one of them was bound to see me and come over. The first one walked by without so much as looking my way. Okay, clearly not her. The second one walked to the cash register without even looking at me. Was she not going to check out my groceries either??? Suddenly - still without so much as glancing my way - she said "Do you have a phone number with us?" Aha, I thought, smiled and answered "Yes I do." I promptly rattled off my phone number "My area code is ..." Again without looking my way she asked "Deena?" This time I thought to myself - she's young, she hasn't got experience yet. I'll coax her into looking at her customer by not answering. So instead I just smiled as warmly as I could and looked at her. Instead of looking at me, she simply assumed I must be Deena, because the next thing I knew she rang up my stuff and told me what the total was. At this point my mood quickly soured. What the ^%$# did she think I was? A piece of toilet paper that drifted in through the front door? She clearly didn't want me there based on the snooty expression on her face. I looked at her name tag: Emily. I thought about picking a fight (I'm a retired Navy Chief - it comes natural to me). Finally I decided I wouldn't. Instead I pulled my card out of the scanner when the scanner told me I could, picked up my two cartons of catfood and started walking. "I need you to sign your receipt." I heard her say as I was walking through the door. "I need you to go %$@ yourself." I heard my mind say as I kept walking. I've been going here for years, mainly out of customer loyalty, but also because the folks there used to treat me friendly like (or at least professionally - we've all had a bad day). But last time I went I noticed one young woman who works there looked absolutely haggard. She used to always have a smile and a friendly word for each customer. Now I've got another young woman treating me like jetsam (Google it). I know difference between one bad employee and a crap supervisor, and no decent supervisor would let their employees treat customers like that. I'll sign up for and shop from Chegg from now on, and if I still need something from PetSmart, I'll get it from NW 16th Ave or online. I know that these reviews on yelp generally fall on deaf ears, but I thought I would take a chance after reading the reviews and thinking to myself it can't be that bad. I made an appointment for my dog to be groomed. I explained on the phone that he was a puppy in that it was his first grooming. It all seemed so professional on the phone. I arrived early to watch the groomers handling the dogs. I expected a friendly calm atmosphere. It was the exact opposite. There was total chaos. Dogs were barking and I watched two separate groomers either nick the dog with sheers or otherwise cause them to yelp in pain. When I spoke to the groomer she advised me that it would be close to four hours. I cannot imagine anyone leaving their dog in this environment for four hours. While Petsmart proclaims that they have professional groomers I found the opposite to be true. The groomers seemed to be all trainees with no real ideas of what was going on around them. Needless to say I did not leave my dog. I was very surprised that others did. I guess they wanted their dogs clean and clipped more than they care about his or her comfort. read more

Animal People Inc. Had an absolutely dreadful experience with them at pet smart in Gainesville Florida. My girlfriend and I had came in to see the cats. We found one we wanted to adopt that day PetSmart said the people who do the adoptions are animal people inc and that we'd have to get with a representative from them. So, we left a note with our name and number. We come back later that day and lucky us! A representative was there! Cleaning the sink and cages. She had just thrown the note away without writing down our information nor calling us back. We finally after a lot of waiting got to talk to her, she was the most unhelpful person I have ever met especially when you are representing a company. She, whom never introduced herself to this day I still do not know her actual name. We told her we were interested in adopting a cat named Connor, a wonderful playful kitten. She asked us do you have any other pets, we said no. She then asked do you have any other cats. The not surprising answer was still no. Then went along to say things like oh well you need to have another cat so they can play together. She continued to say, I don't do the adoptions. You'd have to get with "pat" she has the final say on adoptions. We were like.. Okay.. She said just come back tomorrow, which we couldn't do cause we had work and she at no point gave us a phone number to reach whomever we needed to. I called their agency, left my name and number and a woman named "Wendy" called me back saying she would be there the next day and that she could help with the adoptions. So, I come back the next day with a friend I got off work early. She's there again twice as unhelpful as before saying things like did you look around the store at all the other kittens? Whenever, I was still very much interested in the specific cat from the day before. I eventually find Wendy and just when I thought the first girl was super unhelpful I run into one of the most unprofessional people I have ever met. I talk to her about adopting Connor, she asked the girl whom I didn't get the name of cause she never introduced herself, why she didn't go through the adoption process with my girlfriend and I the day before. She seeming confused thought she was unable to whenever it is her job to also do applications. Knowing this, I got annoyed but I let it go. Wendy then proceeds to question my intentions to why I want Connor, I said : I personally have never been a cat person but I instantly connected with this little guy and my girlfriend has been wanting a cat for awhile. I would love to take him into our home, her face immediately turned sour. She said Well, you see I can't let you adopt the cat unless I talk to your girlfriend in person. I was like excuse me? She then said, How long have you been dating your girlfriend I told her the amount of time and she said well.. It doesn't matter anyway... I've seen people break up after 3 months, 2 years and so on.. I can't let someone adopt a cat who has the chance of going into a broken home. At this point I was extremely offended but still remained polite, she automatically assumed my girlfriend and I were going to break up and that some how we were going to take it out on the cat we wanted to adopt. So, my girlfriend who was at work needed to be there in person for the interview which could HAVE BEEN DONE by the first girl when we were both there the day before. It's a shame that this level of unprofessional-ism continued and I feel bad for all the animals that are forced to live in the cages longer because from what was explained to me. If you are in a relationship and you want a cat you can't have one because you might break up some day. I am disgusted, annoyed and will never do business with them I will also make sure all of my friends and family stay away from this organization so they don't have to go through all the ridiculous things my girlfriend and I had to. p.s. I went to another shelter and got a different cat, they didn't mind I was in a relationship. I am happy to have my new pet and will love him forever. Sorry your animals have to spend their lives longer in cages. - I have nothing bad to say about PetSmart its self, they've always been good and reliable to me. A lot of the reviews on here are pretty out-dated, so it's only fair I add a more recent take on the store. My girlfriend and I adopted our puppy there from Puppy Hill Farms about two months ago during one of their regular Saturday adoption drive. There were a ton of mixed- and pure-bred puppies and adult dogs of all different shapes and sizes. All of the volunteers were amazing and the store's employees were extremely helpful, answering all of our questions, giving us plenty of advice, and being very sweet with our girl. I found the store to be very clean and organized. Because we adopted from one of the rescue organizations, we received a booklet of coupons that made things much easier on us as new puppy owners. I'm a HUGE fan of their training/puppy play times. We've been taking our dog to puppy play time at least 6 times since we've had her, and I couldn't be happier with how well it's helped her socialize with other dogs and get out all of that puppy energy. The trainer, Ryan, is phenomenal-- very attentive and legitimately seems to care about dogs and their owners. Although play time costs $10 for an hour of play, I find it's totally worth it and a great supplement to regular exercise. Ryan also checks every dog's vaccination history, so we have less to worry about than we would if we took our dog to a dog park. The playtimes are limited to about 8-10 dogs max and it's certainly controlled chaos, but Ryan immediately stops any play that is aggressive or bullying. We've never, ever had a problem with taking our puppy there. I can't wait to sign her up for the beginning training course. read more

I have gone to this PetSmart for a few years now. I purchased two rats over a course of 6 months last year. They were extremely helpful and let me take the time with each rat so I could find one I meshed with. Both rats came healthy and clean, and still have no health problems (which is unusually for pet store rodents). I get all of my pet supplies through them because the quality is great. read more

Ran in to buy American Made large Jerky treats for my Great Dane about 10 minutes before close. The store shelves were sparse, sloppy and not much to choose from. There was one bag of the type of treats I buy my dog and they were more that the regular price for them at Petco. Store would not match the price unless I had a picture of the treats and the actual price from another store. I don't think I will go back to this store. Prices too high and the store not well taken care of. read more

I have gone here on a regular basis for about 6 years with no problem. About six months ago it has changed. The help there is non existent unless you go into the break room and ask if any one is available. The wait time at the check out is unreasonable. The check out people carry on long conversations with each customer in stead of being polite, thanking them for the business and niceties. The cashier that waited on us several days ago went on and on about her blue dyed hair, how she did it and all the customers that thought it might be a bit weird. Frankly the few of us in line could have cared less about her hair. We just wanted to check out and leave with a good experience. She continued carrying a conversation with the customer ahead of me as I was being checked out. Will only return to get our RX dog food until I find another store that carries it. Must be very poor training of associates. If the checkout experience was a little bit better I would have probably not written a review and if I had I would have given your store at least 4 stars. Grooming - my dog looked good after being groomed except he still had pretty heavy tear staining. However, my biggest complaint is that they are supposed to do the anal glands with a groom (part of what you pay for), and I know for a fact they didn't do my dogs. I had to do them myself 2 days later. That's unacceptable to me. I work at a vets office and we charge $18 for anal glands, so it really upsets me that they completely skipped that part. On the report card it has a spot for anal glands and it says "checked". How could you check them and not see they needed done? I had to do them myself at that point, and it smells so I had to rinse him off. I could have just given him a bath myself at that point. read more

I had to go here because I had prepaid for dog food at my vets office (prescription only food) well they sold it to some one else) so it was imperative that I go somewhere to get this food. We were told to go to pets smart. Well we had to stand at a register for about 15 minutes prior to being able to pick up the bag of food, then she could not tell is how much the food was until we got to the register to stand In line another 10 minutes to get charged almost double what I had already paid at our vets office. I really wish I could leave a negative review for this PetSmart location. This review is specifically about the grooming salon. As soon as I dropped my two dogs off for their grooming appointment, I felt icky. NONE of the grooming staff were welcoming or friendly. My dogs are a little hyper and silly at times and I felt immediately judged. Later on in the afternoon when my boyfriend went to pick up the dogs, FOUR of the salon workers wanted to talk with him about one of our dogs. The salon workers literally took turns saying negative and extremely inappropriate things about our one dog. They told us we are not allowed to bring her on the weekends anymore because she was too hyper and they don't have time for that. They told us to put her on medication before bringing her to a grooming appointment because she was so "crazy", they were complaining about her trying to "bite" the hairdryer, and many more rude comments. My dog is a little hyper yes...she is very silly at times.. and I know for a fact that she thought the hairdryer was a toy or a fun game they were playing with her. She's still a puppy. The staff was so unprofessional and seemed as if they hated dogs. I worry that they might have been mean to my dog while I wasn't there. I went ahead and filed a complaint against them. I wish this salon was filled with genuine animal lovers who are patient and kind, but sadly it's the complete opposite. I will NEVER trust this grooming salon again. Please do NOT bring your precious animal here for grooming. read more

I'm so disappointed at how the grooming employers treated my dog. I usually go to petco because the reviews on petsmart were so horrid, but my usual guy from petco ended up moving so I resulted to petsmart. So I took my dogs to get there nails trimmed and when they took my first dog everything was fine (he's been getting groomed since he was a puppy) but when they took my other dog I told them "she gets a little squirmy and she doesn't like her back paw getting touched" they said okay and took my dog. I was standing in the grooming salon this whole time to watch. They had the collar so tight around my dogs neck that she was choking and then when she wasn't complying they picked her up and held her against there chest to the point where she was screaming and crying. And continued to squeeze her tighter and tell her to shut up and stop it. One lady had another dog that was crying and screaming since I got there at 10am and the lady just kept telling the dog to shut up and stop it. So when the lady was holding my dog to help her nails get cut she chained the dog she had to the ground where the dog was so shook in fear he pissed himself and the lady grabbed him by his neck and moved him to another leash station on the ground. I cannot believe the kind of treatment they gave to my dog. And the whole time the manager was in the room and didn't even care to say anything. I couldn't even imagine the treatment they would've given to my dog if I wasn't in the room. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AND I ADVICE YOU TO NEVER BRING YOUR PET HERE! It was the most inhumane thing I have ever seen. I told the manager that animals can't tell us to stop when they are in pain like we can. So instead they show it through crying and screaming. The cashier made the input that "the groomers are trained to handle animals that aren't complying and maybe you miss understood the situation". Excuse me but my dog screaming and crying and looking at me for help is not a form of misunderstanding. I will continue to spread my story to other pet owners so they don't go through the awful situation I had to go through. I will no longer be a customer to petsmart. read more

Let me first start by saying that I did not have my dog groomed here, so comments are based on observation only. While visiting my grandma from out of state, I walked in with my dog for a morning grooming appointment, and found out that they still needed to contact my local vet from out of state for a rabies certificate prior to grooming my dog. I knew this was a requirement and had suggested the day before, when making the appointment, that they call then, due to the time difference. In this case, I was glad they didn't, because while the technician helping me was calling, I was observing another technician cutting the toe nails of a standard poodle. I soon realized that this girl had cut several of this poor dogs toenails too short. There was blood on the table and the dog was terrified as she tried to cut more nails. At that point, I left, knowing this was not the place for my dog. read more

I took my dog there, and he got cut, but when we contacted the managers there, they did give us our money back and offered us a free grooming, so I guess they are a pretty good place, just be careful. read more

Now I want to start off with the fact that I LOVE Petsmart in general as I find the workers to truly love animals & want to help. but not when it comes to their groomers. I went in with my dog who is only 7 pounds so I figure not too much of a hassle. It was around 5:30 on a wednesday & they said they close at nine. When I acquired about getting his hair cut, the woman at the desk proceeded to ask the groomers. One was finishing up a dog & said she had only an HOUR left so she could not. The other woman just didn't look up & shook her head no. As if with with well over three hours left this would be an inconvenience. Though this store is large and clean, I was pretty disappointed with their dog food collection. I was looking for a food that is meat only dehydrated or frozen and made and sourced in the U.S.A. There are many brands that offer this. As a lot of dog owners know, it's not enough to buy "made in America" as many countries do not regulate ingredients used in dog food. As a result, thousands of dogs in the U.S. have died painful deaths from eating treats and foods with tainted ingredients. When I mentioned this to one of the cashiers, as a friendly suggestion that this PetSmart look into getting U.S. sourced food, she curtly said "Global market. It's a good thing." Um...in this case, I think an interest in profits and the lack of regulations in the "Global market" has meant that anyone who really cares about their pet needs to be especially vigilant. Responsible pet stores, have entire sections dedicated to brands they have researched and are trusted to have American made and sourced food. This is just a chain store that hires college students who don't know enough about what's in their store. read more
