We brought our 15-year-old terrier to Haile Plantation Animal Clinic on Monday, August 10, after he…read morebecame extremely sick, stopped eating, and began breathing very slowly. Because of how much he was suffering, we made the heartbreaking decision to have him euthanized. We paid for an individual cremation and were specifically told that his ashes would be returned the following Monday, August 17. Based on that information, we believed he would be picked up and handled promptly. When I followed up on August 20 to ask if we could pick up his ashes since we hadn't heard anything, I was shocked to be told that the crematorium had only picked him up on Monday, August 17. That means our dog Riley apparently remained at the clinic for an entire week before even being transported for cremation. We received no phone call, no update, and no explanation that there had been any delay. Had we been told that our dog was going to remain there for a week, we absolutely would have made other arrangements. I would have personally transported him to the crematorium rather than leave him there for that length of time. What makes this even more upsetting is that we paid specifically for an individual cremation because it was extremely important to us that we receive our dog's ashes back. After being given incorrect information about the timeline, I am now left questioning the entire process and simply hoping that the ashes eventually returned to us are actually his. I understand that veterinary clinics may refrigerate or freeze remains while awaiting cremation. That is not the issue. The issue is that we were told his ashes would be back on August 17, when he apparently had not even left the clinic until that day. There is a major difference. When someone has just lost a pet they have loved for 15 years, communication, honesty, and respectful handling of their remains should be treated with the utmost importance. This was already an incredibly painful experience for our family, and the way this was handled made it significantly worse. We are extremely disappointed and offended by the lack of communication and transparency surrounding our dog's final arrangements by this clinic. Not to mention, we'll have to wait an additional week for him to be able to be picked up if they can even deliver on that promise, at this point, I have very little faith.

He makes daily visits to feed them when I travel. At the last visit, Bob spent daily quality time with the canary and also trimmed his nails. He removes leaves and pine needles from the outdoor pond when he feeds the fish. He leaves messages about how they ate and behaved and provides recommendations when needed. My dog has been coming to camp for about a year and over recent months I noticed a lot of staff…read moreturn over. The camp is understaffed and it has become unsafe for the capacity of dogs they're taking care of nowadays. My dog went twice a week, and on his last two visits, I received calls about him being injured. Staff explained that the dog that hurt him gets really rough sometimes and they've been working on separating her. As I was inspecting the rest of his body, I also noticed pretty sizable, fresh scabs around his neck. The next time I brought him in, I asked staff to separate him if he was starting to get roughed up since he's a smaller dog. I received a message saying that my dog had his ear nipped at and was bleeding a lot. I checked him out and a chunk of his ear had been bitten off! Staff explained to me that Thursday's are "crazy" for them now and they were trying to separate the large group into 2 play groups and during this process, he was injured. In the agreement you sign to let you dog attend it states "I understand that in a doggie daycare type of situation a dog may get the occasional cut, bite, or scrape," however my dog was severely injured (as pictured by his ear) and this is not your typical "occasional cut, bite, or scrape." Accidents happen, however it seems like this may have been prevented if they were properly staffed and trained. Through my conversations with staff in, person and through email, it is clear that many of the staff were untrained to handle this type of situation until after my dog was injured. I'm sad to say it since my dog loves to play with his friends here, I will no longer be taking him to camp. Given the circumstances, I've been very calm and understanding when following up regarding this situation, however their staff have been very unprofessional and condescending to me. It has been difficult to communicate with them in a timely manner. I have had to wait weeks for a response, only to be told an excuse of "being a busy working professional" has delayed an answer.

But then I was told by the owner that I wouldn't get my keys back (they want 2 keys) as I was one of their customers. What? At first I figured it was no big deal and just left them there, but when I needed one for a friend to have access, I changed. It was such a hassle to get them returned and I actually never did. I don't know if Ch uckdid or didn't mail them - all I received in the mail was an empty, mangled paper envelope addressed to me, from him, that had been torn open on one side. I reported it to the Postmaster, changed the lock on my front door, and decided I'm done with Daytime Dogs and Friends. Should have posted this review when it happened (probably a year ago or more by now) and no, I didn't contact Chuck. I haven't the time to fight pointless battles. Now I'm on the lookout for another petsitter through Yelp, and this one popped up, so... I'd say if you're in the market for a daily petsitter or dogwalker, this is the place to go, but if you just need someone on a once-a-year basis, you might want to go elsewhere.
