This is yet another conveniently located branch located in Foothill Ranch in the heart of the shopping centers with tons of parking in their strip mall. We came here this past weekend to check out their selection of animals. My daughter always enjoys seeing the animals that they have for sale. This branch and the Aliso Viejo branch are my daughter's preferred branches to shop at because of the variety of animals she can see versus the branch closest to us in Rancho Santa Margarita, which only carries fish, cats and reptiles. My daughter enjoys seeing the occasional pups, birds, hamsters, chinchillas, guinea pigs and mice that can be seen here as well. Their stores are generally clean, with the exception of occasional scents of freshly marked dog urine outside in their parking lot, which understandably occurs. They are spacious with a large selection of inventory, although their prices can be on the higher end at times. Surprising for such a large chain. We try to remember to take advantage of their sales and stock up, especially on their Hill's Prescription dog foods and Greenies pill pockets. Every bit helps. I'm not sure how their prices compare to our Vet's prices, but it sure beats making an unnecessary trip all the way out to Yorba Linda to find out. read more

We have been coming here to get our Goldens groomed for 13 years. The service, even pre-Covid, has gone downhill. I'm constantly having to take my dog back in (now I've learned to check before leaving) to make sure the service has been done correctly. Usually my girl hasn't been trimmed as requested or her nails were clipped instead of being dremmeled. Mats have been left behind her ears, sometimes she is still damp when I pick her up. We stayed away from Petsmart for a few years, after a bad experience with a groomer, but today I made the mistake to step inside this store again, only to be reminded how horrible service is. It was about 7 min to 9am, doors open, store open, there were about three people around. I grabbed what I needed, and went to check out. There was nobody there so I waited. Eventually this asian guy, long hair approaches, bitting from a sandwich and tells me they were closed. I looked around puzzled and he says there are 5 more minutes until they open. He places a tablet on the counter and starts playing something while continuing to chew on his sandwich. I told him that they seemed open as the store was open, the doors were open, there were people around and he snaps back, irritated that there were few more minutes ( more exactly 2). Petsmart, you have serious issues if you can't hire people who actually want to do their job, and who can understand that because of me and others entering your store, they get to be paid. Can you really afford losing customers? Last time I put foot in your store, a groomer made my dog bleed and yelp in pain and when asked what was going on, he turned aggressive. I don't know why this PetSmart has bad reviews. This is nicest looking and friendliest staff location I've ever been to. We've been coming here for years. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, recognizing me and my dog when we arrive. The grooming staff is always prompt, friendly, and never had any issues. The hotel staff is so nice and extremely accommodating to our dog that has separation anxiety. And Banfield has the best team! We love this location and their staff. If we moved out of the area, I'd still make the travel here. read more

I Love This Place for the grooming dept. My dog Lucy is very shy and it takes her some time to warm to new people. Lucy has been in a few of times and Kailey has been her groomer on 2 of these visits. Kailey is wonderful with Lucy. She is patient & has a gentle way about her that Lucy finds very calming. Lucy is becoming more comfortable with Kailey and it's very comforting as an owner of a cautious dog so see Lucy let Kailey get onto her personal space with out showing signs of stress. The original review was written by our 11 year old daughter who was very upset to see that our dog's nail had been ripped off and there was a cut on the pad on the bottom of his foot when we picked him up at the end of our vacation. I have some further words to add after evaluating things further. When we landed from our vacation I had a voicemail informing me that our dog had hurt himself that morning when scratching at his cage when another dog came by and that they wouldn't be able to do the grooming we had ordered. I called in and was informed that they were taking him to the vet. When we arrived to pick him up, we were told the same story again and we asked to see the cage where he had the accident. When we looked at the cage we couldn't see how he could have torn off a nail and cut the bottom of his foot on it; the grill has large diameter bars and no sharp edges. We didn't make a point of it at the time and took our dog home. PetSmart paid for the vet visit and reduced the kennel fee by an amount to cover the medication the vet prescribed to our dog. After getting home we realized that the accident time was around the time that the grooming should have happened. In looking at our dogs paws, we found that the back paw nails had already been trimmed and the front paws had not except for the one missing nail on one of the front paws. It is our opinion that we were lied to and the injury to our dog happened during grooming. We are extremely upset at this and will be following up with PetSmart corporate. read more

This week I (62 year old petite female) purchased a very large bag of dog food at Petsmart in Foothill Ranch. I was headed out to my car when an employee, J.R., saw me in the parking lot, and offered to help me out to my car. I didn't want to bother him, because I could see that he didn't have his employee vest on yet (I assumed that he was either not yet clocked in, or was trying to get to his lunch break). He was so incredibly kind and reassured me that it was a pleasure to help me out to my car. He had no way of knowing that I had a serious back injury due to a car accident, and I was so appreciative of his offer to help me. I can't express how much that small act of kindness on his part totally made my day!!! read more

I called this location three time during the weekend to speak to customer service but no one answered. So I went to the location to shop for hamster. I was looking for a female hamster but they had wrong gender ' male ' sign for ' female ' sign. And when I asked to see the hamster, they had a wrong type of dwarf hamster inside the cage despite the type of hamster sign posted. They look alike so mistake can happen but they are professional, so this made me feel little uneasy to buy from them. I just waked out w/o buying Hamster. Store was nice and clean but information were wrong and I didn't like the wire wheel is being used for small hamster. The hole of wire wheel is too big for dwarf hamster. I would give 0 stars, if it was an option. I took my dog in for grooming, and they literally shaved his bottom so much that it was raw. He was licking, whining, and dragging his bottom repeatedly, which required a visit to the vet. It cost me $194 for an exam, medication, cone, and anal gland expression (his anal glands were full, so PetSmart didn't express them like they said they would). Just brought our puppy in for our second puppy bath with Frances and she was wonderful. Frances was extremely patient and thorough with our "active" pup. Our pup came out looking fabulous. Usually after his other baths there would still be a little residue in the paws but this time with Frances the paws were completely clean and all his nails were trimmed. As always JR Diaz, the store manager was very courteous and friendly (he always patiently helps us find things) and checked us out efficiently. On this day... our furry kids were groomed by groomer-trainees - think 'beauty school', but for pets:-) Admittedly, I was hesitant about this... (All sorts of scenarios enter the mind O_o ) Turns out I didn't need to worry! The mutts were well-taken care of by several groomers! I actually think more time and precision were spent than usual. Funny. I never noticed this store until today but I was completely lost by how vast and immaculate it is. Since this location is in Foothill Ranch I really shouldn't be surprised by the cleanliness and being the only shopper. There really isn't anyone that comes out this way to hang out so it was great to have the freedom to just shop at my convenience and check out the amazing 50% off deals. I guess I should have just come here first. My cat has just about everything she needs now: new feeding trays, litter for a decade, food, treats, new toys etc for about $30. I also managed to grab a Pet Perks card since I know I'll be here often. They also run a 24/7 pet hotel in case you need to board your pet while you're away. read more

I took our dog, Louie, to the PetsHotel at Foothill Ranch for a 2 night stay. He's a bit skittish but the young woman I spoke with when I picked him up said she "sat with him" a bit to calm him down. Also the bedding came back soft and clean. And Louie didn't have that "kennel smell" when I picked him up. I highly recommend this PetsHotel. She was pretty friendly up until the point she realized I don't treat and train my dog the exact same way as her, like leaving dry food out in the bowl or switching between chicken and lamb meat. She got pretty nasty and pushy and my trip ended with her wishing my dog diarrhea. Like.. what the heck.. Worse PetSmart employee I've ever met; how dare you wish my dog ill will! Just because you do something one way, it doesn't mean it's the best way for everyone. What's her problem.. My first time at the Foothill ranch location. first thing, while getting my dogs in the car, all this hair is flying everywhere, like they didn't get brushed. Sloppy job all around, they didn't trim the hair around my beagle's paws, which was one of the main things I wanted done. The worst thing about this place is the indifferent attitude of the staff, all the way to the manager, Luis. the attitude is definitely from the top down. They just don't seem to care! This review is for Jenn S from grooming salon. Stay away from her she is so rude and unprofessional and will insult you and no one can stops her. If you love your pets never trust her as she is a drama quit and go above and beyond to insult costumers. I have been taking my dog to their salon for the past 4 years and once I had the incident, when I pick up my dog it was all scratches all over his body so after that I talked to them and only trust few people there to do his nail. My dog is 7 year old chihuahua mix and he is very shy and get scared easily but he is not an aggressive dog and never ever bite anyone. Cori is the one that usually dose his nail and I am very happy with her. On Jan 1st after I took my dog there to trim his nail, Cori is the one who always trims his nail and she was not working that day so after I explained my past experience with the groomer she took my dog and went to the back of the salon to trim his nail. I stepped out to pay the fee and stood there for them to finish. I saw that they are coming back after 5 minutes assuming they are done. So I went in and she told me she wasn't able to do it. I looked at my dog and Oh God his neck was super red I got so worried and while she asked her supervisor Randy to reimbursed me I told the supervisor that this is not acceptable and they should not injured the dog and if they are unable to trim their nail they should stop before torturing/ injuring the dog, considering this is the second time this is happening to me. While I was talking to manager and was so worried and sad at the same time because of what happened to my baby, Jean from the back of the salon started screaming at me that you can stop using our service and use mobile groomer and she continue by I better step out of the store and never comeback. The supervisor, Randy was just standing there and wasn't able to handle her. We stepped out of the salon and Randy told me Jenn sometimes talks like this to customers but let's handle the situation at the store level and don't file a complain. I said ok but she needs to apologize because of the way she assault me and my friends especially when she was not my groomer and I was talking to the supervisor. He went talked to Jenn and Jenn said she will not apologize and I better step out of the store and stop using their salon!!! I came out and filed a complain to their costumer service. The next day David the store manager called me and apologized on her behalf. I got my dog's neck checked by his vet and he told me the groomer pulled his neck and gave me the cream for his skin which is super red to this day 2 days after the incident. My question is why someone so rude and unprofessional like Jenn should ever work there. If you also read other reviews such as Shady M review you will see everybody has issues with Jenn and her unprofessional and rude behavior. I can't imagine if she treats us like this and insults us without any consequences how she treats our little pets. read more

Sadly, we won't be back here for grooming. My pup had an appointment for his first grooming. I spoke with my stylist and let her know that we did not want his mustache touched, as it causes his hair to grow into his eyes and we had tamed it perfectly at it's length. I put this info in the online booking, and reiterated it at drop off. "Don't touch his face or head hair, we're growing that out." She agreed and even commented that she loved we were growing it. Well, someone else must have worked on him and cut his mustache and hair. We are going to a wedding in 2 weeks and I wanted him just trimmed on the body and shaved on the butt and tummy. We're home and his butt and tummy are still full of hair - I shaved them myself no problem. One thing I am concerned about: his nails were clipped and now every single nail is split down the sides. This never happened when I trimmed them at home. I had a free puppy bath coupon that was expiring and thought I'd try a cut. We'll stick to grooming at home so his poor 'stache stays untouched. For most breeds, this grooming would probably be fine, but my Yorkie requires less cutting and more cleaning up. Hopefully it will grow back fast. read more

I've boarded my dog with Petsmart for 10 years. Only July 2nd I was about to drop off my pet cause we were going out for the holiday weekend. I week early we had gone in and set up an appointment in person, cause they were not answering the phone. At that point, they noted we needed to update our pet vaccine records since we hadn't kenneled for a year, said "Don't worry about it, we'll call RSM and take care of it" They didn't and upon dropping off we found out it had expired on July 1st. They wouldn't take my dog for a 2-day expired vaccine@! After ten years of business, they couldn't of just give the dog a vaccine at that time or had us update the next week. Super lame service and very disappointing since we've given them $10000+ of business over the years with kennel and Benefield protection plans for ALL my pets. Also surprised that when I had taken my dog for a check-up in April they hadn't noted he was due for a vaccine update! I have learned my lesson, should have checked and completed the update myself. I get it times are tough, but this was our first real trip in a year and didn't expect this type of impersonal, insensitive service that almost ruined it. read more

This is a review for their grooming services I brought both of my dogs in for their appointment. Check-in was smooth, they both have Banfield so their medical records and rabies vaccinations were both on file. My little Maltese ended up getting a teddy bear cut which turned out adorable with no complaints (Groomer- RiRi) But our Terrier was another story. (Groomer- Jennifer B.) We received a call a couple of hours after dropping her off from Jenn B. saying that she accidentally nicked into our dogs paw, and was taking her across the way to Banfield for the vet to check her out. Turns out everything was great and she called back to tell me so, which I appreciated. She didn't say anything else. We come pick up our pups in a couple more hours and our Terrier didn't even get groomed. Not only did she get hurt but Jenn B. didn't even bother with finishing up her cut. Her body was shaved (sloppily) and she left her neck, face, tail and legs. What I don't understand is, she called to tell us our pup was "okay" but didn't bother to say "oh but we're not going to continue with the grooming" I would have picked up my pup and brought her home instead of her waiting the for a couple more hours. Not only that, but she had the nerve to charge us for a bath. If I wanted to just bathe the dog I would've done it at home. Seriously! I don't think we should have been charged anything for such a traumatic experience and poor customer service. We only take our dogs here when our regular groomer is booked. But our Terrier has NO PROBLEMS at the other groomers. Go to QD Doggie in Lake Forest if you want your dogs actually getting a hair cut and good service. read more
