This location has got to be the PetSmart with the worst customer service out there. From the cashier to the manager

I called ahead of time to see if I needed an appointment to get my dogs nails trimmed. I was told that I could just walk-in. They were a little busy when I went so I had to wait. I was told that I would get called when they were ready. I waited for about 15 minutes and went back to check in because I was never called. I was told that their intercom was not working and that they were ready. This was a little annoying because my dog was very anxious while waiting. The person who cut my dogs nails was great. She did a good job and was very good with my dog. I would return again. The price for the nail trim was $10. read more

That's a bit pricey to me, but I'd rather outsource this job because he's a big guy at 115 lbs, and I can't stand it when he shakes off the water during and after his bath and it lands all over me. read more

Happy FriYay Adventurers! I bring my little pup here for grooming, because the Woodbridge location wasn't as good and never had any appointments. Everyone at this location so far has been super nice and understanding--I was late one day due toe 287 traffic. They happily held my little Sully with no issue. They also haven't accidentally nicked his uh balls while grooming like the Woodbridge location has. Definitely recommend for the grooming. read more

I brought my 90lb dog to PetSmart 2224 Rte 27 Edison NJ to have his nails cut. The older woman could not pick him up. So she put his frotwo paws up in the middle of the grooming table. His front right paw fell off but she continued to push, and he came crashing down onto his face, throat and chest. She finally got him on the table and attached the grooming strap around his neck. She went to pick up his paw and he fell off the back of the grooming table hanging by his neck. This was all going on while the salon manager and assistant didn't who were in front of her did not turn around or try to help until i started to yell. By that time the woman had him back on the table and the girl stood next her.. My dog could not move his neck because of the pain. He was throwing up blood, clots and bloody stools. The store mgr Crystal and area mgr was told by the by the groomers he was not hung by the strap. It said it right on the vet bill hurt neck. The groomers lied. The older lady hurt my dog and the other two did not see it. This all happened behind the salon mgr who never turned around to see what was happening. I am a senior on SSI who had to pay a vet $1294.00 that I had to borrow . I had to run back and forth to the vet because of the injuries he received at PetSmart groomers. My dog had internal bleeding. They are covering up what happened to my dog. If you love your pet do not let these unprofessional people touch your pet. They will not pay for the injuries they inflicted on your pet. PetSmart get out of the Grooming business if you are not going to pay for injuring someone's pet. I can only speak for the grooming service at this location but I have nothing but good reviews! I know there had been issues at other PetSmart location but I want to ensure it is not a one-review-fits-all mentality. My dog, a rescue, has trust issues to say the least and the women at this location care for her and calm her during her entire stay. Called ahead to schedule an appointment and was told it was not necessary. Arrived with my 3 dogs and was asked to hang out for 15 minutes while they finished a previous client. We returned when requested and found they had already accepted another walk-in. When I stated we were there first they made an excuse that the client was an "express". Instead of making a fuss, I told them this is why they need appointments and left. This location needs a proper store manager. We'll be taking our business to PETCO from now on. read more

It is a win if you have someone who knows what they're doing on a given day, or a loss, when you have an employee that does not know how to interact with customers, and you basically feel like they've driven you out if the store - that is the worst. My dog, Rocinante, is currently being trained by the best trainer I have worked with yet; his name is Kevin Zerpa and he works for Petsmart. . Previous to Rocinante (Roci), I have had four Great Danes in my life. I had trainers for all of them but Kevin is the best of all. Roci is a mix of mostly Great Dane, Boxer and hound; He weighs 90 lbs and Kevin handles him like putty! He bases his training on love, rewards, encouragement and positive reinforcement. . This review is for the betta fish and everything related to betta fish. I went in and took a look at their fish. There were only a few a many of them had torn fins and looked unhealthy. I put my finger up against the container to gauge their reaction and many of them seemed lethargic and unhappy. I understand that it's the small container and suboptimal water temperatures, but usually, they'll still react. Unlike Petco, I noticed that they do not sell babies here and have mostly male bettas. In terms of fin types, most are veil tail and half moons. The fish themselves caused me to take a star off. The rest of the stars however are because the entire store is kept clean. All the shelves are organized and neat. Everything is exactly where you expect it to be. The staff members are also knowledgeable, willing to help, and they approach you in a friendly manner. The cashiers are quick and friendly. The location is easy to get to and there is easy parking. I might go here if I need fish supply, but in terms of actually buying a betta fish from them, I'd go elsewhere. The prices of the fish themselves seem to be a couple dollars higher than Petco as well. read more

I was painting a fence for my girlfriend's house today when she asked me to take a break and go with her to Petsmart in Edison.. I put down the paint brush, cleaned myself up, changed clothes and off we went.... It seems my girlfriend received a card from Petsmart, stating come in today between noon and 2pm for free samples of food for cats... My girlfriend has been taking care of 3 stray cats born on her property for 2 years now Just when we arrived and tried to ask a young employee a question, an ice cream truck pulled up outside..and the this employee and another ran off leaving us speechless...We found some one else , who I guess didn't care for ice cream "Where are the samples as in the card we received"and were told...Company never shipped them to us....THE END! Nothing else....and stated that it happens quite frequently... SO TOP BRASS AT PETSMART, I CAN SEE WITH A CIGAR IN YOUR MOUTHS PLOTTING FOR THE NEXT MARKETING MOVE...TRY AT LEAST TO GIVE AWAY "FREE ICE CREAM" so at least you'll know where your employees are! read more

I had an emergency with my dog that needed to be looked at immediately. Since this Petsmart is right around the corner I called them and spoke to their Banfield pet hospital. I gave the woman Information and told her what was going on. She placed me on hold. While on hold I was disconnected. I called back and they explained to me they couldn't fit my dog in because it would require my dog to have test done etc.She then suggested I go to the emergency clinic. What makes me so angry is that they refused to look at my dog who was in dire need of medical attention because they couldn't fit him in. I will never ever recommend this place. I got my little boy groomed here by Erryn and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the store and the salon in general. The girls and guys in the salon are super professional and courteous. They did exactly what I wanted and didn't try to sell me a full groom on my Pom. I like keeping him fluffy! He looks awesome and I bet he feels good too after getting all that extra fur out from his coat. Priced reasonably and the services were done in a timely matter. The most important thing for me is that my boy is happy and comfortable where he is getting groomed. This is my new favorite place for treats and food. The store has good parking in the front, and everything inside is brand new. They have a lot of all natural snacks and treats, and I got in on a buy 2 get 1 free deal that saved some cash. The people working there always pet my dogs and ask about them. Big fan. PS. I've read other reviews and I guess I'm just smart enough not to give my dogs to a big store to be groomed over a local boutique groomer... so I can't comment one way or another on the grooming. read more

I would give the 5 star as for always being clean and sometimes courteous when walking in... However, every time I go there.... It takes for me to wait and stand around a empty store to get feeder fish by seeking someone who's never in the aquatic department or around the back isles. There are always two people in the front, or "fixing" the shelves. The store is for the most part usually occupied with a few customers, but those customers are either standing with me or searching the store on their own. Maybe you don't keep anyone there, but if that's the case... Maybe the people in the front can save customers time by asking if we need help. I might just say yes!!! I need fish! Ha read more

Do not bring your dog to these inexperienced groomers. They have no regard for the health or safety of your pet. Our 9lb, sweet-natured,little dog was groomed here and they shaved off her nipples. She was hysterical when we picked her up, they said she was upset but never told us why and gave us the grooming for free to get us to leave. Whole experience was surreal. It was only later when we got home that we pieced it together. What kind of horrible people wouldn't want you to know your pet had been injured? They all knew. Even the person at the cash register said "Oh, you're so and so's parents" as we walked in the store before we reached the grooming dept. Our pup was panicked at going into any PetSmart (even ones where she had previously had a good grooming experience like North Brunswick) or vet office ever since from the trauma. We eventually found In & Out Dog Grooming in Garwood and they are always professional, gentle and respectful with her. PetSmart grooming permanently maimed our dog. Please don't make the same mistake we did trusting your baby to amateurs with a cruel streak. read more

my 7 yr old daughter and I went there with injured chicks she found outside the house and wanted to see if we could get them help they totally ignored us even after asking excusing ourselves then finally the dm ashier asked us how can I help you and starts speaking to a woman standing in the entrance of the store way off the line then thinking I'd be helped by a professional the manager comes over says I'll take you at the register and walks away from me and my little girl like we didn't matter and weren't the only ones there in line holding two little injured baby birds...rude unprofessional I'm a big guy and I felt so bad how they treated us and then to show my child cold hearted treatment in what's supposed to be a place of helping and healing these little creatures ..I'd never ever go there or recommend it to anyone in this area read more

I took my dog here because Petco was booked. He's a short coat dog with long ears. His ears get very dirty and caked at times. Never has it been a problem for Petco to put a little extra "elbow grease" into working a lather into his ears and cleaning them up. Well, no such luck with PetSmart. Sure, I mentioned tar in his coat ( a few very small spots here and there. nothing a comb or a good scrub couldn't get out ) but his ears. Really?? A Basset is ALL about the ears! I won't be going back to this place for grooming. Oh, and for you all to know, I was a groomer. Only "was" because I was sick of the BS from owners and abusive attitudes of employees towards me. I developed my own following and went into business, successfully, for myself for some time. I am NOT under estimating the tar or the ears. Nothing "smart" about this pet-something. Meh. Final thought is that yes, they are friendly people there so go ahead, give them a try "at your own risk". I'm just "warning" all Basset Hound and cake-ey dog eared owners. read more

Dropped off my 2 dogs early for scheduled appointments. The two women working were occupied by one small, calm dog in the middle of his grooming. They seemed confused by our presence and weren't overly friendly. The women struggled to get the dogs correctly entered into the system, one who'd been to other Petsmarts countless times without a hitch, yet her breed wasn't available and had to be listed under another breed here. After 4 hours (normal timing for the sheepdog) my husband returned with 2 dogs who looked very much unchanged from when I dropped them off. The sheepdog regularly leaves Petsmart looking like a big puffball, in this instance her hair still looked limp and the areas around her face/mouth and paws are still tinted from her saliva, as if they weren't touched. Neither dog smelled particularly clean either, which is surprising as one was treated with a tangerine shampoo and the other with peppermint, both pretty distinct scents. In the future, I will drive further out of my way to a Petsmart that I KNOW will take care of my dogs rather than visit this location again out of convenience. I'd recommend the same to anyone considering this location. read more

I dropped my dogs off for grooming as Ive done countless times at other pet smart locations. They nicked one of my dogs, he was bleeding. The other one looked worse than when I dropped him off. I have tried to give this place a chance so many times but it's not even worth it anymore. I scheduled a bath with a furminator for my german shepherd but they only gave him a bath and charged me only for a bath but I did not receive a phone call changing what I scheduled and even when I went to pick up my dog, they did not bother providing me any other information. I also scheduled an additional package for my miniature poodle that included a bandana, a nail grinding, teeth brushing, breath freshener, and scented cologne spritz, which was an additional $22 but from what I could tell he only got the teeth brushing . They didn't bother telling me that until I walked back in to tell them. What kind of service is that? That just shows me that even if they are busy they just care about getting the dog in and out not about the actual dog. This place is absolute trash. I am never coming here again. read more

My family and I had a wonderful experience buying a hamster here. We came in more than once to research different types of hamsters. Each time Madison was there and was so informative and patient explaining information about how to care for hamsters to my children. Once we finally decided on the type of hamster we wanted, it was soon realized they were out of stock in the area. Madison went above and beyond and helped us locate the type of hamster that would work best with my kids at another location. I could not thank Madison enough. She drove and got a hamster from another location that isn't particularly close to Edison. She made the entire experience enjoyable. read more

Hello, I had multiple terrible experiences here. So this petsmart was closet to us so we decide to go there. My dog Buddy needed his shots. He was a very kind and loving dog and was like every other puppy. But once he got his shots from this petsmart he became viscous and kept biting people. This was right after the shots that he got. When ever new people came he would growl and bite them. Which we didn't want people to be scared of coming to our house. After this happened we soon expected that they didn't do a good job giving him the shots and something had caused him to act like this. After a while, Buddy began to get crust around his eye at first we thought it could be his allergies since his breed (Maltese) is prone to getting allergies and getting brown crust. After we take him a bath most of it usually comes off. But this time it didn't. So we took him to the same vet, Hoping this time they could do a better job. So we took him, and they said some stuff and gave him some medicine. The medicine did not work and it still continued. We took him once again but they did nothing to help my dog. Who you could see had changed since the shots and from the crust. At this point we did not trust this veterinarian and a little while later we saw that the crust was irritating my dog more and more by the day. So we decided to go to the Woodbridge petsmart since it seemed more trust worthy. We took him to see what the crust was and it turned out that my dog basically had a hole in is face and needed x-rays and possibly a surgery to be done. What had happened with my dog is his molar had been cracked and was creating a hole in his face and the hole was pussing out and drying out and creating the crust. My dog had just got the surgery this week and he seems more alive and trusts the this vet more. So next time I would recommend going to the Woodbridge petsmart. read more

New rescue puppy, first time for him to get his nails done. Groomers were great. They were kind, patient and caring. He's not my first dog, but they explained the procedure step by step. I've used another area PetSmart for our other dog, but this store is closer and definitely has a great crew in grooming.
