Okay so we left McDonald's and were still hungry so we came here. We were hesitant to go in at first--if it weren't for the large "PETSMART" sign, we would have thought this was a classified military training facility. (The window are nearly 100% tinted). Anyway... the store smelled great. Just like home. As soon as I walked in i saw the grooming salon; I was quite thrilled considering that I was long overdue. Turns out they only cut animal hairs, not humans. Oh well. So we went to look at the cats . Cute cats. Very playful. Okay. Anyway. On to the reptiles not too many reptiles. And I don't think a crab is a reptile.. perhaps I'm wrong. Nope, a crap isn't a reptile. Ok the hamsters were pretty cute. That's it. Pretty high prices.. I was the only one near the check out stand and didn't follow the paw prints and walk allllll the way around and the cashier barked at me saying I needed to follow the paw prints around. I said I'm good. Just need to check out. She said it again and it is store policy so I asked to see the policy. She couldn't show it to me and begrudgingly checked me out but without asking she called the manager up. The manager lady couldn't show me a policy either. The lady at the check out was extremely rude. I will never go there again. Common sense doesn't exist if they think that I needed to follow a law print when no one was in line. read more

My family and I were checking out the bearded dragons and set ups they had available at this store. My kids were excitedly looking at the different animal enclosures while my husband and I were right there discussing terrarium options. An employee got onto my kids and rudely told them not to bang on the enclosures. I'll be the first one to admit when my kids are being little turds, but they were doing no such thing. They're old enough to know better and they don't "bang" or even tap on the glass because I've taught them otherwise. I think the most frustrating part was that it was obvious that we were interested in making a purchase and not one person asked if we needed any help or if we had any questions but they were obviously watching us and quick to jump on my kids for absolutely nothing. She DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER ADVERTISED PRICE, and attempted to justify bait and switch tactics with their price match program. Prices atr highly inflated as marked in store. You are forced to use their price match to avoid over paying. Their price match has "evolved" under this manager into a bait and swtch tactic she refuses to take responsibility for. SHAME ON PETSMART for poor upper management leadership and shame on this manager for her lack of responsibility, customer service and lack of empathy. Employee Alan exemplified the worst customer care in providing a quick inventory check and taking care of the customers who bring in money for the store. I understand that it is holiday time but the disregard to still be polite and courteous to all customers went right out the window. Taking my business back to Petco! read more

This review is based upon our experience as a DOG OWNER. We have been to several pet stores in our area but always seem to gravitate back to PetSmart in League City/Dickinson. They seem to have most of the items we need for our dog(s). We recently came here again as we are now the proud owner of two shih tzu puppies, Johnny Cash and June. They are too young to get groomed yet. However, we have used the groomers here over the years. Here is an analogy for you: PetSmart grooming is to dogs as Great Clips is to humans. Both places have stylist that seem to come here fresh out of training. They get their experience and move on to other "salons." The really good ones are hard to keep and the really bad ones quit. You're typically left with the average cutters who do OK but not great. The problem is that you end up going thru a few stylist before you get one you really like and then, POOF, they're gone. The dog training program they do is ok too. We did it several years ago with our previous dog and learned quite a bit. We still have our clicker from that training so probably won't use them again this time as we can do it ourselves at home. The food selections can be overwhelming. They have a wide range of dog food from very high end to low end. I encourage you to get online and do some research prior to buying food. I would also suggest you buy the smallest bag possible just in case your dog doesn't like the food you purchase. Just remember, you don't like everything you taste and neither does your dog. Many times, the person at the register has treats readily available for your pooch. In the past, our dog was willing to do all types of tricks for extra bites at the register. We'll see how it goes this time as we start training our pups. Right now, I'm more concerned about teaching it to pee and poop outside than teaching it to sit, stay, roll-over, high five, dance, pose, play dead, or anything else. I'm not sure if leading by example is the best form of training but I know my neighbors are tired of me pooping in the back yard. We did purchase the $20 puppy coupon book which is loaded with coupons. This book is a really good deal for someone who has never owned a dog and is starting from scratch. If you have owned dogs in the past, you can use hand-me-downs for dogs won't use every coupon in the book but it is still a decent deal. Since we have two puppies (we must be crazy), we purchased one book to use between the two of them. So far anyway, it seems to be working out. I'll post a photo of Johnny Cash and June soon. We typically get our puppy trim ($15.99) by Vickie, but since she is leaving, we tried another groomer. Vickie typically takes an hour max on our little 3-pound maltipoo, but the next groomer we had took 3 HOURS. I don't know if it's because our pup was scared of his groomer, or just scared of getting his haircut in general, but for a parent-- it is an AWFUL feeling knowing that your pup is getting anxiety! Selections on food, outfits, and products are not too abundant here and our satisfaction on a certain employee are beyond unsatisfactory. Extremely rude. If you see an older lady here, AVOID HER LANE AT ALL COSTS. The only good thing I will say, COUPON HEAVEN. Always satisfied with our balance after our coupons are used. If you have a puppy-- I would recommend buying their Puppy Kit loaded with coupons (Free bag of puppy food value:$15, free bath/trim, free puppy orientation with the trainer, and several other coupons included). Also, some petsmart products will include coupons as well. read more

I had high hopes for this location as its the nearest pet store to me. Unfortunately they let their animals sit in poop for days and when they do clean, its a brief, lazy attempt without actually cleaning the corners of the cage. So the poop just builds up into a solid block growing mold. Ill change my rating when I see them actually care for their animals. Ridiculous. read more

Chris made sure we had the correct supplies, took time with us while we selected the perfect new little guy, and walked us through the adoption process. As a dog mom to an Aussie and a Blue Heeler, I love this PetSmart! Their good selection of dog toys, treats, food, crates, and other dog supplies are fantastic. I love how the employees there are always willing to help you find something you are looking for, make suggestions, or just have a friendly demeanor in general. The main reason I felt the need to review this PetSmart is for their training classes to supplement the training methods that I have read/used before with my other dogs. My Blue Heeler puppy took beginners classes and we are currently enrolled in the Intermediate. The trainer, Amy, is FANTASTIC! Seriously this woman has been a Godsend to me as my blue heeler had severe leash reactivity (something I've never dealt with before)! Thanks to Amy my Bailey has made long strides in getting over her fears. Not only is Amy very knowledgeable, she always has a great attitude, is always cheerful, and goes above and beyond to help out We still have some work to do but knowing that I have Amy to assist me and give feedback has been a tremendous help. Since we first enrolled in the Beginners class in January until now, April, for the Intermediate class, there has been a huge change in my dog. Amy has helped me over come the obstacles that I have experienced with Bailey. My pup gets so excited to go to class each week and learn new things and it also helps her to have the much needed supervised, controlled interactions with other dogs and people. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get basic training for their dog in the Galveston County area give this PetSmart & Amy a try! read more

I took my dog to PetSmart Saturday and told them that she had a few knots that needed to be shaved or cut out and to make her hair as even as possible. well I have anxiety so I didn't check her out when we were there. So when I got home I noticed that her ears weren't even. Anyone with common sense would have made her ears as even as possible, which they didn't. So I went there the other day to get a refund cause I shouldn't have paid for that. They had me go in the back I guess they were gonna try to fix it but I didn't want them touching my dog after that, I just wanted a refund. The girl named Jennifer gave me an attitude saying the conversation must have went like this " she has knots can you shave them out" which I said she has a few knots shave or cut them out and make her hair even as possible they didn't try to make them even at all. I had to fix it up!! Jennifer made me so mad saying I rolled my eyes which I did because she was assuming I said something when she wasn't even there when I told them what I wanted them to do to her! Jennifer was like I'm done with her do whatever you want to. Jennifer had a nasty attitude towards me that I want her held accountable for how she acted towards me and treated me. If It wasn't for my friend walking in at the right moment, no telling what more she would have said to me or how nasty she would have gotten. Cause when she saw my friend walk in she knew then my friend wasn't going to play her game she was playing with me!! I know all of the groomers except Jennifer, she must be knew and they know me cause I always take my dogs there to get their nails done for 10 years, and this is how I am treated?!?? read more

Today was my first time taking my Pom to get groomed. I was extremely worried she wouldn't look how I hoped for but when I picked her up she was perfect! I've forgot the name of the lady I dropped her off with but she was very nice and answered all my questions. Ash is the one who groomed my pup and deserves extreme credit for what she's done. I definitely recommend getting your dog groomed here and it's affordable! We paid $45 for a package. I've already booked an appointment to get my pup groomed next month! read more

Store isn't bad, they at least had the dog food I needed. The cashier was nice but the closing manager on 5/3/22 was not helpful. Cashier was doing a return, must have waited for 10 min for this closing manager to come by, press a button and NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE 10-15 PPL WAITING IN LINE. He just walked away. No "Hey guys, please excuse the wait but we can't open any other registers at the moment" or "Everyone good? Anyone need any assistance?" Absolutely zero customer service from the guy. The cashier looked stressed too. I give her kudos because she was the one who had to inform us that they closed all the other registers already. This is why I prefer Petco, beyond better customer service and smiling faces. read more

Ok I am going to speak mainly from a Fish standpoint. This is a huge store and I was hoping for a good selection of fish. I was surprised to find that my local Walmart has a wider selection and just as good of quality. The tanks were half empty, most of the fish they offered were out of stock, and there were a lot of dead fish in the tanks. While we were looking for a good 15 minutes I never once encountered an employee or was ask if we needed any help. I am sure the selection of food and other animal supplies is fine and the prices seemed ok but if you are going to sell fish please take care of them. We left and found better fish across the street at Walmart. read more

The store itself is fine, they have a large selection of products, buy rarely is someone around or knowledgeable enough to help you. My main issue is with the grooming department. I brought my very fluffy Siberian Husky in for a bath and a hair cut. I told the groomer that I didn't want her shaved, but she needed to be shorter. When I received my dog back, she was shaved with a 1/2 in guard and it wasn't even. She is very blotchy and has sporadic places of her body that are shaved to her skin with longer hair around it. Frankly she looks horrible. When I called the manager to express my converns, all she offered me was to bring her back in and get her evened out. The manager didn't apologize or acknowledge that one of her groomers did such a horrendous job. I will never bring any of my animals back here. read more

I brought my dogs with me to pick out harnesses, but I didn't realize there would be so many. I also don't know how they work, so I went to the front and asked for help in the collar aisle. I got the sweetest most helpful employee named Ciera. She showed me how they work and found what I needed. Then she helped me with toothpaste. Great employees that seem to really care about the pets. I was surprised to see low stars for this store as I always get exceptional service. The manager is also wonderful. read more

The parking lot and getting to it is a MESS! I do not like it's geographical location but once you are in the store it is always very clean and nice. Right when you walk in you have a view of the dogs being groomed in the back. The sales are always clearly marked. Went in to grab a couple of cans of dog food. Boy was it dark in the store. Only a few lights were working correctly, most had one or three bulbs out in every fixture. Booked an appointment w Desiree today and when I showed up she claimed I never made one, despite the fact that I received an email that I had. She seemed upset the moment I got there and very irritable. I asked if she could make an opening because I had literally booked the appointment an hour before I was confused how they could fill up so quickly with absolutely no one in the store and also why she never got my appointment. I asked her to show me the computer because I was sure I made an appointment and she was very rude and quick to establish she would not be taking any more appointments. She rolled her eyes at me. She left a dog wet, cold and shivering to sit on the floor when I came in. She actually canceled an appointment a couple weeks ago we had there and we haven't found the time to come back and probably shouldn't have. Went in for worms, stood at the counter next to the fish for about 10 minutes. There was also another lady there with her kids looking at fish. Nobody every came over to help. I made sure I was standing to where the cashier could see me. There was one manager walking around but not even acknowledging customers. Another employee doing the same. I finally asked the cashier to call someone over. The employee came over and greeted me. The other customer had already walked off. After I told her I was there to get worms, she said "Oh, I just clocked out. I'll have to get someone else. They won't let me go back there off the clock." Which is completely false. I worked for the company for years. You aren't going to get reprimanded for grabbing a tub of worms for a customer who has already had to ask to be assisted. Anyways, she went and asked the manager to come help me. But they were out of the worms I needed. 15 minutes of standing around waiting for anyone to offer assistance, just to be told that what I needed wasn't in stock. I witnessed employees in grooming on their phones, and there was only about 3 other customers in the store at the time. Absolutely NO reason for the horrible lack of customer service. read more

I noticed this store didn't have very good ratings but we found them to be exceptionally helpful. After several weeks trying to locate a replacement for our aquarium the people at this location were able to get us the hood, give us the discount the home office offered for our inconvenience, and assist us with several other items. They were very courteous and followed through with their previous commitment to locate and obtain the hood. Thank you so much! read more

Okay, let me just say I've been using this PetSmart for 2 1/2 years now and couldn't be happier!! Got a Boxer pup and the first visit was awesome! Had Max (pup) in the cart and employees were wonderful with him. We met Amy that night and Max fell in love her, lol. Amy is the main dog trainer at this location and if it weren't for her I'm not sure Max and I would still be together. I've had many MANY pets over the years and always trained them myself, no problem. Well, Max was a HUGE problem. Boxers can be stubborn ornery and bull headed. So off to school we went! Amy trained Max and I worked with him at home. He's come a long way to say the least. And I've learned patience, lol. Employees have ALWAYS been very courteous, kind and helpful. Even the manager will take time to help, he doesn't hide out in his office. Not many stores have a manager who actually assists a customer! Least not where I shop! read more
