We typically have a small animal, like a Guinee Pig or a bunny. Right now, it is an adorable bunny who loves treats. This is a good location nearby plenty of other stores to combine our shopping needs and pick up some rabbit food, bedding, etc....For some reason, the prices seem to be standard for small animal products, not much variation, so it does not matter where I stop for hay and pellets. I scheduled a grooming appointment online for my10 year old Maltipoo, Bear at the Bloomfield location. Bear's a rescue, but so well behaved, people often say he's "polite". When I arrived at the grooming salon, a young woman at the desk asked me for proof of his rabies vaccine. She didn't introduce herself or wear a name tag. She walked around the desk, put a lead around Bear's neck, then stooped down and grabbed his tail. She didn't speak to him or even extend her hand for him to sniff. She started pulling hair from his matted tail, saying "this will have to be shaved". She stood quickly and said "I can't groom your dog, he bit me. You'll have to take him somewhere else." I apologized and asked if she was okay, but she had disappeared into the salon. I didn't see the bite occur, or the wound, but I honestly don't believe he ever would have done that, if she had made any attempt whatsoever to be friendly with him. I'm shocked that someone who works with pets daily, could have so little knowledge of animal behavior. Based on this experience, I won't return to the store and certainly do not recommend the grooming service at PetSmart's Bloomfield location. There are so many better options available. read more

ZERO STARS!! Be prepared for SUPER RUDE staff! Every time I bring my pet in, they are so utterly rude and literally "bark" their rules at you super loud and it's embarrassing-- this is what you get with a chain groomer; I've been to many groomers that were small boutiques and have never been treated rudely like this, three consecutive times! They will send you home without a haircut for your pet any chance they can get- super lazy staff that just don't want to work! Our appt today was before the store opens. I waited for a while outside, rang the bell 3x no one came!! Finally a PetSmart worker (not groomer) let me in. Waited at desk for 10 minutes bcz my girl was shampooing a dog in the back and 2 others were just there working on 2 other dogs, and making small talk-- They could have told me instead of making me wait!!! Finally the girl comes out from the back and tells me rudely (after I waited this long already at the desk) that they have to reschedule me due to being 15 min late (appt was at 8am mind you- we have 3 kids and 2 adults to make it to daycare, school and work so we are doing our best as a family!) I said "but I waited outside and rang the bell 3x and no one came" she said "oh well that was already 15 min after so." I find that highly debatable!!!! They just look for any excuse to cancel you! I said nothing turned around and walked out! I will never come back here as this is the THIRD to FOURTH time I've been treated rudely by staff at the desk with groomers behind her just staring! Never coming back here again!!!!! I gave them 3 chances and I won't be treated like this! We've been sent home PREVIOUSLY for not having proper vaccines up to date when they could have figured that out at the time of appointment being made. I've been sent home from here at least 3-4 x now without a haircut for my dog. Don't waste your time or your money on their mediocre grooming skills. Your dog will get an uneven cut (my dog is super well behaved too, they have no excuse). Update: I called The Shaggy Pup in Commerce and they are getting us in at noon today and accepting new pets! HORRIBLE PEOPLE ... TERRIBLE SERVICE If I could give 0 stars, I would, or even negatives. The store groomers are unexplainably unprofessional at their job and there is no apology for horrible service. We took the first ever grooming appointment with Petsmart. We got the reminder call a day before too, but when we arrived there, we were told that they wanted us to show our puppy's rabies vaccination. They did not mention that ever before and acted as if "so what". Because of this we were really angry, but our anger meant nothing to them. We went there from our apartment in Novi. So we had to come back, take the papers n go back. On reaching, they told us that the groomer couldn't provide complete service as she will be leaving shortly. We were like - "how rude n unprofessional is that" ? First you give horrible service we have had anywhere ever n act like cold n shameless folks. BEWARE!!!!!! I purchased items for an in store pick up. It was a medical collar. Didn't know the exact size i needed at the time since it was last minute. Used PAYPAL to purchase the items. It was just a faster check out. Returned the collar that didn't fit. Went to return it 3 days later. I could only get an in store credit. Eventhough I used a debit via paypal. I have shopped at other stores the very same way and they were able to refund me whether it be cash or actually back to Paypal. No where in the check out did it state their policy about refunds. This petsmart is larger than other ones I've been to. It has a nice space in the center of the store for training of dogs, which is amusing to watch if you're bored. But their selection of pet supplies shouldn't keep you very bored. There are so many cool and cute things for all animals, I always want to fill my cart up with things to spoil my kitty with! Then I realize that my kitten is most happy when he plays with trash. Oh well. Their clearance section is always nice to look through, and their coupons and food prices make shopping here for pets one of the best places. For their adoption center is nice, because you can interact with cats without having to get a manager, like at other petsmarts. However, the space to play with the cats outside of the cage is not as nice. I recently found some of the most beautiful kittens I have ever seen. I had to get them. read more

When you walk in here, you get the feeling it's a REALLY old retail location that they decided to move PetSmart to. We had a bunch of pet stuff to get and had to endure a long sales pitch even though we visibly displayed we had no interest in hearing it. Some of the good parts of this location is that it's a pretty big location and their restrooms were nice and clean, not something you can expect at all stores as sad as that is. I had to find a new pet store once I moved across town, and there wasn't a local Petco. PetsMart is just as good and they carry Castor & Pollux Organix dog food, including the grain free and small breed varieties. I've bought clippers, treats, and a small backpack for my Cavalier and he's happy to visit the store with me. Once they were out of stock and only had a small bag, but the young man working nearby checked the back and sincerely apologize for not having it. He also let me know that the food section was going to be rearranged and not to worry if I couldn't find my regular brand- it would be down one of the aisles instead of on the end cap. Absolutely horrible. I will never take my dogs there EVER again. The groomers obviously abused my dogs while they were there. I have been bringing my huskies to their groomers for YEARS. Never, have I EVER had an issue like this before. I was told that my dogs lacked "training" and were "out of control". Maybe you are just an inexperienced groomer? My 2 huskies are the most well behaved dogs I have ever known. Of course, they have energy, they are huskies... what, you don't know what a husky is/aren't familiar with the breed? Then you shouldn't be a groomer. I was told that one of my dogs tried to bite her... I have a 2.5 year old sweetie and you could literally sit, smack, and poke his eye out, before he would EVER bite anyone. So if he DID try to bite you, what did YOU do?! And if he did bite you, please show me. Of course she didn't. I was also told that they have intense separation anxiety and they needed to be picked up immediately LOL again - they're huskies. What the hell do you expect?! Other groomers there before carried out the deed exceptionally well and found humor in my dogs "awoos" and howling. This inexperienced pathetic excuse for a groomer took it too far and BANNED me and my dogs from using their services at all locations. Now, I understand if you've had a bad day and you're looking to take it out on someone, but the workers there showed NO respect. From the check out lady being as dumb as a brick to other groomers I viewed aggressively "grooming" the other dogs. The dog was yelping in pain and was very aggravated, trying to bite her. So much so that they had to let her know there was a customer watching... shady. I jokingly said, "I hope my dogs don't give you any issues like that" knowing full well my dogs would be a breeze compared... now looking at that, I know in my gut my dogs were abused by them. From the way they "needed to be picked up as soon as possible" and wanted to BOLT and claw their way out of that store. They've never acted like that before so I know BAD things happened to them there. Not to mention, they still had massive tufts of hair coming out of their coats and when I went to get the comb and fix them up THEY FLINCHED AND WERE SCARED OF THE COMB. They literally ran away from me when I attempted to comb them... NEVER have done that before. I am absolutely DISGUSTED. I warn anyone who actually cares about their pets, DO NOT get them groomed by these immature, unintelligent, inexperienced group of fools. There are no trustworthy workers there and they all deserve to be fired immediately and banned from working with animals. They are obviously not actually hiring based on skills and history... they are just trying to find people that need work/money. Pathetic. Shameful. Just absolutely disgusting. read more

I have been a loyal Petsmart customer for years however today will be my last time patronizing the Commerance location. As I entered the store I was met by a loud, rude and unprofessional cashier yelling at me. Something about a line to get into the salon. As I peered in the glass door of the salon I only seen I guest being serviced so this obnoxious behavior confused me. (I guess some people become over the top with any forum of authority) As I finally got into the salon I was met with lots of confusion and disorder. Only to be told I had to be rescheduled because my Dog had his shot within 24 hours. I understand the rule, but I didn't understand why I wasn't advised this when I made the appointment. The grooming staff at this location are extremely rude and unprofessional. I will never go back back. I took my puppy for a simple nail trim. The groomer (April) didn't even cut all the nails and when I returned to tell her she had a major attitude. She agreed that some of them need to be shorter and took my dog to the table and started cutting them again. Puppy was agitated then and she didn't do anything to comfort him. Instead she was making snide comments to the puppy (as if he understood her) saying it's my fault he's back because I'm demanding his nails be shorter. She obviously was doing that so I could hear her. Very rude and unnecessary. Just do your job right the first time and I wouldn't have to come back. Then she tells me "maybe you should learn to cut them yourself" I was so taken back by that comment! Like excuse me?! I'm paying you for this service!!! It's alright. I love that they support adoption of kittens, clean place, decent selection & helpful staff. I just feel violated when the lady asks for my info at the register, which she does every time. More so when she criticizes me & throws out irrelevant comments (idk if I want to laugh or get annoyed) at me about how I'm not willing to give out my info. Its made me so uncomfortable that I know I can shop elsewhere to get what I need. I have frequent the store for about three years now and really enjoy visiting I am greeted by name when I enter the door by almost every employee. If I don't have any of my dogs with me they usually tell me to leave and come back with them LOL. The employees are all very helpful asking if you ever need anything and the store is well-kept and tidy. I have a variety of pets so it's nice to go one place to get everything I need. Please do not entrust your family pet to the groomers!!! I witnessed a groomer abusing a dog, hurting it by trying to comb through its thick hair from the base to the ends and continually pulling hard, obviously hurting the dog. The dog, who was well behaved prior to this treatment, tried to reach its neck down to feign biting to get the groomer to stop and the groomer's response was to grab the noose next to the dog's neck tightly and continue combing in the same manner. I voiced my concern loudly and several employees chose not to acknowledge me. I called corporate and opened a complaint and they told me I would get a response from them in 24-48 hours. Despite giving the representative my phone number and email address and telling her I wanted follow up they failed to contact me. The treatment of this pet was highly inappropriate and inexcusable. read more

I cannot express my disappointment with this place . I have been having my two little dogs groomed there for 13 years. I have had pretty good service . In the last few years I had a awesome groomer Jessica H. She was great she knew my dogs and did a great job. I booked a grooming appointment for my 13 year old Shih Tzu but unfortunately my groomer was not available and I had no choice but to have someone else do his grooming. This groomer didn't know my dog and neither did the new manager Ashly. My dog is in congested heart failure and is in the care of a veterinarian as well as taking heart Meds. I explain his coughing and that when he is nervous he tends to do it more. The girl checked me in with no problem and even heard my dog cough. I was called by the manager Ashly that told me I would have to come get my dog . She told me he would stop breathing and then cough which is not the case at all. I guess she is a vet as well as the manager in a grooming salon too! I went to get him and she told me that I can't take him back . They don't want to be responsible if something happens and not to take it personal! So I guess if you have a dog that is old and sick a PetSmart manager can ban you from having your dog groomed there. I guess my loyalty to the company and supporting homeless animals means nothing to PetSmart .
