Had to schedule appointment two months out for our two little girls. appointment was made for 10:00 a.m. Staff member called and left voicemail reminding us of 10:00 appointment. Drove a half hour and arrived at location a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. only to be told unceremoniously that we were late and our appointments had been given to someone else. They claimed that our appointment was for 9:30 (??!!). We showed proof of the transcribed voicemail reiterating 10:00 a.m. when a very loud mouthed woman stomped out shouting that it was for 9:30 and we were late and that was too bad. We've never been treated like this at any place of business. Needless to say, we certainly won't return there and we will discourage everyone thinking about going there to seriously rethink their choice. Bad. read more

I have been taking my long haired mini dachshund here for a few years. I am very happy with the quality of grooming, and the friendliness of the staff. My dog can be a little nippy, and gets scared, but they always do a good job of ensuring his safety and calming him down. I have never had an issue of accidental nicks or cuts on my dog, despite him sometimes being "difficult". He likes to dig in our back yard, and ends up with LOTS of knots and other things buried in his fur, he always leaves the groomer completely clean. The price is very affordable. I am not sure how it scales with different dogs and sizes, but I the amount we are charged (+ tip), is very reasonable given how much work is must be to get our dog's hair in good shape. I would recommend this to anyone in Livonia and nearby areas. We have other groomers closer to my home in Northville, but we still make the drive to Furs-A-Flyin. read more

My pup, Tucker, cries with excitement for the entire 10 minute drive to Furs-a-flyin because he looks forward to his time there more than, literally, any other place I've taken him... the beach, playdates, Grandma & Grandpa's place... going to the groomer beats them all. We've taken our 4 year old Pomeranian/Terrier Jeepers here twice and he always looks great when he's done. The ladies who work here are nice and friendly. My favorite part about coming to Furs A Flyin is they don't the dogs before or after their wash/cut. Everytime I pick Jeepers up it's like a giant dog party in the back...that's cool to see! NOT PRACTICING CDC GUIDELINES. DO NOT GO HERE. I walked into the place and saw at LEAST 3 workers in the back room close to each other with NO MASKS ON. One of them came to the door between the waiting room and back room and began talking to me with no mask on. I kindly asked them if they wear masks (concerned for my safety) and could tell the lady at the front desk (who only pulled up her mask when I entered the building) was annoyed by my VALID question during a pandemic. She also proceeded to role her eyes at me for asking this question. I then told her I'd wait with my dog outside and she in a very rude voice said something along the lines of "whatever". Needless to say I didn't go back in after that. A business this small with no windows open and 4+ workers ALL NOT WEARING MASKS will not get my service. Not to mention, I was forced to breath the air inside the very small building. Just awful to do this to people who have been loyal to you. read more

I loved the staff here; super friendly and kind! However, after 2 appointments our groomer for our 6 month old Havanese pup told us that he needed a sedative if he ever wanted to come back. After receiving advice from friends and my vet, they said that was unreasonable and that they had to work with him since he was so young. Overall, I didn't appreciate her impatience with him. Unfortunately, I will definitely be going to a different salon. However, they groomed my puppy well! (except he was a little too short) read more

My Goldendoodle is not my pet he is my family member! Trying to find a good groomer in the Livonia/Northville or Plymouth area had me very nervous. Furs A Flyin put my my at ease. I could tell this was a quality grooming establishment right away. It smelled clean, it was clean (yes I looked in the corners) and the dogs leaving had meticulous looking cuts. I was also impressed that the co-owner who greeted me and her partner were laughing and playing with the dogs in a way that a only a true animal lover knows is genuine. Even though we have been returning customers for over 5 years I was shocked to find that Furs a Flyin had left a voicemail on my phone saying "Hi this is _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ from furs flying do not make any more appointments at our business we don't want to do your dog you don't show and we already told you so good luck finding another place...". This is copy pasted from the iPhone voicemail that translates what's said into text. I am not an avid yelper however I do think this shouldn't go unnoticed, especially to anyone that has hectic schedules or to couples that both work 40 hour weeks. The owner of the shop, Dina, worked at several previous locations before opening this business of her own and we have been loyal customers of hers for at least 17 years. Our two litter-mate border collie mixes loved to go see Dina all their lives, and we now have a very old border collie mix who has been going here for almost five years. We've always gotten wonderful treatment, the dogs look great when they come out and I think the dogs even know it themselves..they just seem to look like they're so proud. After making an appointment weeks in advance, all the positive reviews gave me hope on my dog's first professional grooming experience. I brought my dog's medical records just in case, WHICH WAS GOOD because I did need them, although no one told me I did. They took her and my info and I left her feeling good. Over two hours later I wondered why no one had called me to say she was ready, I had to call them to inquire about it. At neither of these moments, drop off and on the phone to say she was ready, did they mention the payment accepted was only cash or check. I had to embarrassingly leave again to go to the atm, while my dog was confused about being taken back into the grooming area. THEN once I was back, the girl at the desk didn't know the price and then couldn't even make correct change from $60 and I had to give her back five dollars. A charge of 55 dollars and zero communication to then get my dog home and find a giant area of broken blood vessels on her right inner thigh. For the first AND LAST time using this company, she is soft and smells nice...but we won't be returning. read more

My dog is 10 years old and we used to always take her to PetSmart. I had no idea how much better she could look and feel from what I would consider a "professional groomer" like Furs-A-Flyin. They take their time, listened to everything we had to say, took great care in not overdoing it (our dog has arthritis), and I can't even explain how much better she looked after they groomed her. Even what I thought was a great groom at PetSmart paled in comparison. Wish I had found them sooner but now that I know we will never go anywhere else. My only complaint is that they do not take credit cards - cash or check only. Small issue but it would be more convenient if they did. read more

The owner was incredibly rude when I confronted her. I will never take my dog back here again. Please be warned, never to take your pet here. Dog groomer was not very pleasant we we dropped our dog off. When I picked him up she was not finished and seemed to be annoyed and said my dog was being difficult and kept raising his foot. After half hour I came back and she mentioned something was wrong with his foot. Turns out she nicked his pad and it was raw. I decided to call the owner just to let them know I was dissatisfied with the service. After I told her the story, she offered to pay the vet bill and refund my money. I thought wow how nice and I did not expect this. The call ended and I felt very pleased by her kindness and concern. THEN, about 20 minutes later she called back, said she talked the the groomer and she said she told me that she had cut my dog and proceeded over and over to call me a liar. Since I never expected a refund or the vet bill to be paid by them, why would I lie? It was such a disappointing experience on every level. I will spread the word about my experience and the unprofessional behavior from the both the owner and groomer. Now I'm left with a poor little dog who has a pretty bad injury on his pad, due to their mistake. read more
