I brought her in and handed her off to a gentleman who asked what I wanted done. I replied "a bath, nail trim, and a little haircut. I would like her lion's tail to stay poofy but to get trimmed, her face to be rounded, and the patchy spots on her body to be trimmed to match the rest." Twenty minutes after I dropped her off I got a call from them requesting that I bring cash for payment as their system was down. I accepted and asked how much it would be -I was told $65. When I arrived to pick her up, the groomer, Lizeth, told me it would be $95. I kindly expressed that I was told $65. She explained to me that price was because I 'lied' and said my dog was a medium dog (for reference she is 45 lbs). I told her I never said she was a medium dog, but when I made the appointment I was asked her weight and her employee put her in as a medium dog based on my answer. I then politely said, would you please honor the price I was given this time. To which she said no and began berating me. She said in her business she has to be careful of "people like me" and that I lied about the size of my dog and that I "don't value her work because I won't pay her what she's worth." After going on for five minutes, I finally gave her my card as there were other people waiting to drop off their dogs. She then threw the card at the counter after she charged me. My brother called an hour after to explain that not only was she rude to me, but our dog's haircut looks terrible and was not what I asked for. It is uneven all over, her face and ears are choppy, and her tail was untouched and was not blended with the rest of her body. He told Lizeth we would like to make it right and would like a refund. She initially agreed but then said, "you know what? No, I won't give you a refund because your sister is a liar" and hung up the phone. She is rude, unprofessional, and did NOT do what I asked for. Instead of making it right, she insulted me.

We've tried finding a groomer near us but haven't been happy with them. He's not typically an anxious dog and gets anxious with groomers now. Well, we had enough of that and drove back to Nel's. For the first time in years he was happy at the groomers. I really think a lot of it is Nel. She works with the dogs. She took her time. She let's the dogs hang out instead of crating, which our pup much prefers. We will keep going back.

They are cage free so when my dog wasn't getting groomed he got to hang out in the doggy play area which I know he loved. I look forward to bringing him back soon. I cannot recall the name of the woman who groomed him right now but will update with her name soon. Thankful to have a great spot to bring my little man! I appreciate the pics on the Facebook page, seeing her playing with her pals is comforting. They are very, very good at putting "like" personalities together for a cohesive group. At other places we've tried dogs were grouped by size without regard to temperament. My girl is midsized but mellow. When she isn't as mellow she is transferred to the more energetic group. I love the drop in play care as sometimes plans change last minute. They're always great about offering exit baths which is great as well. Would highly recommend.

The only thing I didn't like was their policy regarding bathroom time. The expectation was that dogs just go inside the building. There were no outdoor bathroom breaks in the winter. The employee explained they only take the dogs out in the warmer months. I saw an employee walking around with a mop keeping things cleaned up so the place was not unclean. My concern, and perhaps unfounded, was my dog would get confused and start having accidents at home. It just seemed a strange policy to me.
