Based on another review at this location - I gifted my daughter/ son in law a grooming appointment for their 4y/o Chow Chow rescue beauty. They have excellent groomers and all the right tools to be successful. This girl pup was never professionally groomed and is truly fearful of strangers. My daughter washed her at a "do it yourself" grooming place for the past few months. She even took awhile to be totally comfortable with her new parents. The dog resisted brushing and was very matted, I made a same day appointment with Mel who is very talented and extremely patient. It took over three and a half hours to wash, brush, furminate, clean her ears, and remove mats. The dog had a very thick undercoat and shedded and dragged leaves into her home. My daughter was protective and was very concerned that the pup would be unhappy being groomed, however she was very calm when she picked her up. Everyone was so happy with the excellent grooming job (even the dog). Thank you Mel! She will be returning. read more

I took my 15 week old poodle puppy here to be groomed. She had already done well with the breeder doing her face/feet/and private areas. PetSmart told me they could not do anything but the feet and private area as she was too wiggly. In my opinion, they didn't even try. It was the lack of effort that I felt was given that really upset me. She's a poodle and needs her haircut to avoid matting and get her original puppy hair off. They then proceeded to charge us 51 out of $59 when they did absolutely nothing. They called me back to try to explain things and couldn't even explain to me well the price difference. Please see the below for before and after. This is their job to groom all sorts of dogs. They should've been able to do this. A few months back we adopted a perfect young cat from a local pet adoption center after my sons depressive episode. He was ecstatic about his new companion who he named Kitty. Kitty needed a trim, badly. We took him to this establishment and we had a truly disappointing experience. We received the wrong cat after picking her up from her grooming session. They refused to speak with us about the matter so we had to take the cat home for the afternoon. I contacted someone else from this location and we finally received some information. We had to meet up in a sketchy park at night to exchange this cat for our Kitty! My son was completely traumatized after this. He refused to leave Kitty's side for a week. We had to keep him home from school! He was afraid the big man from PetSmart would come and take his cat away! Again, truly disappointed. read more

When I try to do it, it's like world wresting federation with the tiny senior dog. Just not a good situation for either of us. I didn't know it so I called this location in West Point shopping center. They tried to tell me that my 15-year-old Maltese was a tear and they wouldn't take him because he was mean he doesn't have a bone in his body. He loves a bath He loves to get groomed. I have been taking my rescued German Shepard to this Petsmart for grooming, and I just want to give the biggest shout out to Amy! My dog is super scared of baths and also just other dogs in general (as she has been attacked before being rescued) so it has been a journey to get her comfortable to come to Petsmart for grooming. Amy has been essential in making that happen by suggesting early morning nail trims to start with. She was able to get my dog to trust her and familiarize my dog to the whole grooming setting over the course of a few months. Now my dog walks into the grooming center as confident as can be! I'm so thankful for how patient and caring Amy is, and I would recommend everyone to have her as a designated groomer. read more

Took my 1 year old Yorkie in for a haircut. Haircut was decent but but what I asked for. Second time that's happened. I carried her to the car and went straight home afterwards. Put her down once we were inside. She was limping and holding her right back leg up. She was fine when I took her in, so I called them to ask if they'd let her fall or if an accident happened. They said no, but something happened to her and no one said anything. It makes me sad and mad at the same time. Will not take her there ever again nor recommend Petsmart. This PetSmart location is great. We rescued a yellow lab/english setter mix about 3 months ago and we've pretty much found all that we needed at this store. Every time we go in there with questions, the staff is very knowledgeable about what we might need. The store is very clean and fun to go to. The cats and dogs are welcome in the store. They even have little 'clean up stations' where if your dog goes poop in the store, you can clean it up! Ha! We currently have our dog signed up for the training classes at the store. We have taken 2 classes already and they make the class easy to learn alongside your pet! read more

This is a nice big PetSmart. It's always clean. The staff is helpful. The layout is good. They almost always have what I need, and if they don't have it, they can point me to where to get it. I went in seeking a certain Bamboo collar. They had just discontinued it in the store and sold the last one from the sales rack, but they gave me the online address so I could get one. I went in for the PediPaws Dremel-type pet nail trimmer. They didn't sell it, but they pointed me to the nearby WalMart (of all places). Now, of course, PetSmart carries the PediPaws, but don't get it. It doesn't work. My dog is terrified of it, and I have to wrestler her like she's an alligator just to do one paw. Anyway, this PetSmart has a grooming center and is attached to the Banfield Animal Hospital - very convenient. There's also an adopt-a-cat section with the cutest kitties and little stories about each one. They only ever have about five cats at one time. They sell small animals like hamsters, chinchillas, birds, and fish. Pets are welcome. There's a training rink in the middle, and you can sign your pooch up for classes. Prices are good. The toy selection is remarkable. Macey loves it here. read more

We recently got a 20 gallon tall freshwater tropical fish aquarium and, being a novice fish owner, I asked several of their employees about aquarium set-up. They offered information and my wife and I took their advice. We got a couple of live plants, neat decor, and several fish. Two red gouramis, a female betta, a snail, and a rubber-lipped Pleco. Well, we feel like idiots because we took their advice and now one of our fish is dead and the others are at high-risk. They didn't mention anything about a tank cycle and how it's essential to let your tank cycle before you get live-in fish. I expected PetSmart employees to be knowledgeable enough to advise us about this. We should have done our own research but I assumed I could trust their employees. I should have known this since I bought a tortoise from them several years ago and their advice was complete garbage. My advice to you all is that you do your own research because pet store employee really have no idea what they're talking about! read more

This is LARGE store. Really big and it seemingly carries everything imaginable for your pets, except for one thing... there are no dogs or cats for sale and that sort of surprised me at first. They have their own animal hospital and grooming station and everything else under the sun. read more

Overpriced on many items. Review: I have a healthy pet plan here for my cat, Pepper. I love this vet clinic because they are always nice and caring, and they do great work on my cat. I've never had a problem with the care or employees. I do wish the health care plan wasn't $520 a year but broken into monthly payments, it's worth my cats health, which is why I give this clinic 5 stars. read more

I had a grooming appointment today for my dog. She had a full service of bath, groom, nail grind, teeth brush and breath freshen. My groomer was Natalie. I just wanted to make sure she got recognized since she did a fantastic job. Maggie is very nervous when she goes to the groomer due to previous bad experience which is why I haven't landed on a permanent groomer. Her previous grooming ended with a bad haircut. She is a schnauzer and the girl cut off all of her skirt!! Natalie was good with Maggie and she did the best haircut Maggie has had in awhile. Her feet and nails and teeth were also done well. I will definitely ask for Natalie on the next grooming. She will be our permanent groomer read more

My favorite grooming location (Buckeye Pet Grooming) closed & my dog was in serious need of a nail trim. She fights so much I can't do it myself so I turned to Petsmart. Per their website they take walk-ins for nail trims. It was close to my house, so I headed on over. Inside the grooming area I encountered perhaps the dumbest "functioning" human being I have ever met. After explaining multiple times that no, I didn't have an appointment, I just needed a nailtrim, we got to the computer. I spelled my last name for her no less than 5 times - and it's not even a difficult name! Common verb + a letter at the beginning. Nothing. Finally we got past the name, she started saying "that expired two days ago." I asked her what expired, no response. She proceeded to ask me my vets name --- she can't find the vet in the computer. She called over another employee to help. Kept saying "it expired two days ago," but wouldn't answer what was expired. I gave her my vets phone number since she and her genius co-worker couldn't find it in the computer. As she picked up the phone, I told her it's Sunday, they're not open, no one will answer your call. While waiting for the phone to ring, she asked me how I pronounced my last name. Was it (something that doesn't even remotely have the same letters as my name)?" I should have seen where this was going ---- she waited for the voicemail to come on & then said "no one is answering." Thank you for that, I told you that would happen. Then she asked me what kind of dog I have - a yorkiepoo. Her response: a Twerkie? (I'm sorry, do you work with dogs everyday or no?) I explained to her again what breed of dog I have. She then told me that no, they couldn't muzzle her so no nail trim today bc "it expired two days ago." Finally I got out of her that what "expired two days ago" was the rabies vaccine that hadn't been updated in PetSmart's records since 2009. Not sure how a vaccine that expires four years ago equal two days, but whatever. I was so done. Two stars only because the male at the cash register wasn't as much of an idiot as the grooming salon employee. Definitely not coming back for my dog's nail trim. If that's the kind of employees they hire to cut dog's hair, etc, she's not getting her brain anywhere near my sweet dog! read more

My dog was in need of a serious nail trim and i usually take her to the vet i've been going to for 5 years, but it was just too far of a drive today. so i decided to take her to petsmart since it was right down the road. my dog has been getting her nails cut at the vet for 5 years and it's in and out no problem! a few minutes after they took her back at petsmart, i hear my dog screaming and howling.. i know it was her because the other other dog back there was a pomeranian and i would know her howl anywhere. this went of for about 10 minutes and i am freaking out the whole time. my dog finally comes out and she is shaking to death, not even excited to see me because she is so scared! after we get home i'm starting to see spots of blood on the floor so i inspected her nails further and i have NO idea how they managed to cut her where they did.. at the BASE of her nail!! i am NEVER taking her there EVER again. read more

This store has a wide variety of toys and lower end foods for your pets. They are cheaper than most pet stores, but don't have high end food items. I can never find the food we are looking for. We used to take our dog here for nail trims and ear cleanings, but stopped after the last time she came home with an ear infection that bothered her and took us almost two months to get rid of. It is nice because they will trim nails without an appointment, but I feel like the folks working there are barely trained and don't know a lot about handling a dog. We rarely shop here anymore unless it is a quick in and out for a toy. read more

Stopped by to grab a goldfish and some supplies for my 3 year old's birthday. Somehow, every person I came into contact with seemed to scold us for buying a fish bowl and insisted we would "kill" said fish instantly. This unsolicited advise was given when we asked even the simplest of questions (where was food located, etc). Whether they just wanted to attempt to have us spend more money on a larger tank, or they were really channeling their inner Jack Hanna that day, it was very uncomfortable. Little do they know, we have multiple tanks at our house and have had fish for 20+ years. I'd like to assume this means I might know a thing or two more than the jackass with the Stewie from Family Guy tattoo inked on his forearm that appears to have been done by a pal in a basement after a few too many bud heavies. As for the frumpy looking woman helping check us out who continued to harass us about said goldfish and it's "imminent death", perhaps focus more on cutting off your nicotine supply with your marlboros and work on your customer service voice. I'd recommend just about any other pond, creek or fish emporium for your fish needs unless you want to walk out feeling like the Michael Vick of aquatic creatures. read more

I would recommend finding another groomer. Not only is it a roll of the dice if you will be receiving a quality grooming experience for your animal, they have zero emergency policy in place for what to do with the animals that are entrusted in their care during an emergency. I unfortunately found this out the hard way after we were on hour five of my dog's last grooming session there. I called in to ask about the delay and was told that the store was evacuated earlier because there was a gas leak in the building. I asked what they did with the dogs while the humans were outside. I was told THEY PUT THEM IN THE CAGES AND LEFT THEM BEHIND INSIDE THE STORE. They literally gassed my dog. Extremely upset, I called corporate and was basically told they had no other plan in place for such situations other than caging the dogs and the staff followed protocol. Eventually they sent me a coupon for a free bag of food. Needless to say, I have not been back, and the first question I have asked potential new groomers is what is their plan for emergency evacuations for their dogs. EVERY OTHER GROOMER I CONTACTED HAS HAD A PLAN that does not involve leaving the dog behind in a locked cage. Hopefully this has changed although I will never be back. read more

To say I've been to a few Petsmarts in my day would be a serious understatement. I have several cats, a tank of fish, and an aquatic turtle. I practically live at Petsmarts. This location is my preferred one in all of Columbus. Not only is it most accessible to my home, but the staff is always friendly and helpful and they are well-stocked. It's so hard to find my turtle's favorite brand of frozen food at most locations, but this one always has a shelf full for me to clear out. They also carry the foods (Science Diet) my (healthy) cats eat and often have coupons for it which my wallet loves. read more
