I went into petSmart today and I wanted to just look around and look at the animals that were there. As soon as I look to my left, I see the fishes, so I go over to the fishes and I look around and then I noticed the one on the top shelf is dead so I alert a team member, then I go back and look at some other ones and then I see there are three more that are laying there upside down dead inside of the water. They do not take care of these pets like they should and I think that goes for all PetSmarts cause I know my store is not the only one I would definitely not be shopping here anymore if they don't know how to take care of their animals.. I've been a Guinea pig parent for over 6 years and have never encountered ringworm until I brought a Guinea pig from this location. I previously had two guineas, one died of cancer and I thought it would be a good idea for my other Guinea to have a companion. I put freshly washed linen in their cage and let them meet. After two day of having her I noticed a rash near her eye and did research and separated her from my other Guinea. I brought her back into the store and they confirmed, treated her ringworm and gave me a refund. They said they would call back after she's treated but never did. 2/3 weeks have gone by and now my other Guinea has ringworm that she did not have before. I called and spoke to the unhelpful manager, Oliver who said there is nothing they can do. An associate told me they check their animals for infections before customers buy them but that's a complete lie. (In addition to the ringworm her stool was loose which means something is wrong internally or she's eating too many veggies. Petsmart doesn't feed them veggies and she wouldn't eat the carrot I was trying to give her) I advise everyone to stop buying Guinea pigs from here, not only because of my experience but because of the poor living conditions they put them in. First of all no I don't she is in perfect health . Second , the vet doesn't even do grooming. I have taken my dog to Petsmart in davidson with the same matted legs and they took her with no issues . ( she is a shih tzu and hair grows very fast and she is old so she sleeps a lot and that's why her legs get matted sometimes ) I took her to A Fancy Pup as a WALK IN and they took care of her no problem ! and it was way cheaper than Petsmart . I will be going here from now own . They also had the nerve to still send me a email asking me to pay . Strongly do not recommend this groomer at this location. I find it hard to believe I have not written a review for this location. I visit PetSmart often to purchase food and things for my cat and dog. Our dog usually receives his grooming at this location. They do great work when you are specific and the same groomer is on site. On my recent visit this week, the store set-up was reorganized and I liked it, although it took a bit of getting used to. It was clean throughout and did not smell of animals and​ my visit was on a Saturday afternoon. When I needed it, assistance was swift and accurate. As I waited in the ​line with about five customers, another cashier quickly opened and proceeded to get the line moving. Great job keeping things orderly, clean, and smelling fresh! read more

I'm disappointed in the grooming for my pup. The first time he went it was great, you could tell he was really washed, blow-dryed, nails trimmed and rounded. This time I had to return back the next day because his sanitary anal area was not trimmed properly. I'm sure they didn't do the anal glands neither. His nails aren't cut down or rounded out. He is a puppy and very nervous of new environments but this is the groomers job. It shouldn't be that complicated to get it right THE FIRST TIME. I am still on the hunt for a new leash for Milo (I'm so picky!) & since I was in the area, I came into this particular one, across from Northlake Mall. Upon entering, I was cheerfully greeted by an employee. The store layout is really nice, the lighting is bright, & the store itself was clean (& smelled clean). Walking in to get plants for a fish tank and they have a good variety of everything as well as very nice and welcoming workers. The betta fish were obviously not taken care of, there was mold and algae growing at the bottom of the cups they were in. So this is my local neighborhood PetSmart. It's convenient to home - if not for the size and weight off bags of kitty litter and food, I'd walk here more often than drive here. They are reliable for all of the many differing brands of food and pet supplies they carry. They also have a veterinary office on site. And perhaps the most important thing about PetSmart - the adoption area with ALL the cats to visit! I get giddy and smiley just thinking about them, so you can imagine what it's like to go and see them. While they have a good variety of food brands in particular, there are some items on which they tend to lack selection. Also, prices here are frankly outrageous. I do buy one of the top brands of food for my cat so I understand the price there, but other items such as basic pet toys, cat trees, etc. are over the top. Also, service can be lacking at times. The staff are great to talk to but when you need help there's never anyone to be found - they are usually tending to restocking rather than scanning for customers that might need some assistance. Last but not least, the line typically goes quite long and a second register is still never opened. read more

They didn't even finish the job because she said that my dog moved around too much. When she called me to pick him up, her tone was annoyed and unpleasant. It was his first time at the groomers because he is a puppy, which was told to them upfront. I would think professionals would be equip to handle a puppy. On October, 18th, I had my regular grooming appointment for my dog Mason at 12:30p that consisted of a shampoo, haircut, and nail trim. The 18th should have been like a regular grooming day but, it turned into a living nightmare! I took him inside and a groomer examined Mason as protocol. She noticed that he had a little hair matting behind his ear but, nothing more. The worker said Mason's appointment will only take a few hours and she'll call when he is done. Well after a few hours, the call never came. When I left work that evening to pick him up around 7p, the groomers were STILL working on him. Being that his appointment was at 12:30 that afternoon, I was shocked. I asked in disbelief if Mason was getting groom at that time. The worker stated (as she was working on my dog) they were busy all day so, that is when they were able to groom him. She also claimed my dog became "agitated" and "aggressive" while she groomed him and it prolonged the process. I told her that as long as my dog has been going there, he has never gotten a negative report. While the conversation took place, I noticed my dog whining. The worker stated that I would have to leave if Mason became "worked up." So, the worker finally finishes and I pay and leave. My five year old granddaughter noticed something white on Mason's leg but, I assumed she was referring to his hair color and did not check the spot. When I got home, my wife asked what happened to Mason's leg. What I saw was horrific. My small dog Mason's leg was burnt so badly that the meat was raw! I was heartbroken and upset! Not only did PetSmart fail to call me when it happened, they acted as everything was normal when I went to retrieve him. I then realized that was the reason it took the groomer 7 hours to complete his appointment and why Mason was whining when I got there. As soon as the store opened, I took Mason and demanded answers. The groomer (Laila) who examined Mason when I first brought him and was supposed to groom Mason acted clueless when I asked about the burn spot. She actually had the audacity to say the burn spot was already there! I demanded to speak to the manager. When he arrived, he asked Laila what happened. She then stated the other coworker groomed Mason and she did not know how he got burned. The manager called the Banfield veterinarian over to look at the spot. At first glance she mistook it as a hotspot and then corrected herself when I told her that the groomer burned him. The manager apologized and said they would treat the burn wound with no cost to me. Now Mason has to walk around with a cone on his head for a week because of the groomer's negligence. I am highly upset and disappointed that Mason had to endure the pain of being severely burned and the groomer not having the decency to inform me at any point and still had me pay for this horrible service. We used to take our dogs to the Petsmart in California to get the nail grinding done so we figured this would be an okay option here. Well, so not impressed. The groomer tried to hold my littlest chihuahua with one hand and use the grinder at the same time which they never did. They normally had one person hold him while the other person held the paw and did the grinding. This resulted in him getting his paw chewed up on the front and the back (both were bleeding) and the groomer missed 3 claws after all that! So now I have a dog who won't leave a cut alone and I STILL have to take him to get those other three claws done somewhere! Can't believe I paid full price for this. Let me preface my review by saying my husband and I have been taking our dog to this Petsmart for the past few years, and never had an issue with their grooming, until today. Took my goldendoodle in to get a bath & brush today. They asked if my dog had any heart issues (which they have never asked before, and I just brought in a copy of her up to date vaccine records today) so I answered honestly, telling them yes, she has a slight heart murmur (she's 13); to which they told me it would be an extra fee of $15 due to her medical issues. This was super annoying but whatever, I complied. I understand where they're coming from with safety standards. They also mentioned she is now an "express" appointment, meaning she needs to be picked up quickly after they call that she's ready, again, for safety reasons. I think this is dumb but I agreed. My husband (who is the primary phone number on the Petsmart account) got the call she was ready, and called me. So I gathered up my 18 month old daughter and drove to get there. I was there within 30 mins of getting the phone call. They then tell my husband and I that we owe ANOTHER fee for not getting there fast enough to pick her up. We were both furious and absolutely refused to pay it. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. They never told me a certain time frame I had to pick her up in or I would have just cancelled the appointment...we live at least 15 mins away. And dealing with an 18 month old, trying to be safe, wash hands and mask during a pandemic. Insane expectations. If you expect the customers to be understanding during a pandemic, you need to be more understanding for your customers as well. We will no longer be shopping at Petsmart or using their grooming services. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the groomer did a good job on the bath and brush. read more

His nails weren't ground smooth as I specifically asked them to do... twice.( when I came back in to complain they suddenly recalled having a problem doing that although they said they did the service when I picked him up) He smelled pretty much like a wet dog (as if they washed his back and nothing else). I can't believe that I just drove 30 min for my dog's appointment with the grooming salon and then this girl told me that they can't do the service on my dog because they don't have her on file meaning they don't have the proof of the rabies. We were there 2 months ago!!! and this other girl had to called the vet to ask for the rabies shot, well... she got the info and I saw her typing everything down in the computer, so I thought that she saved everything. Love this PetSmart for my pet baby! They are always stocked with my baby's choice of food: Nutro. There are also a lot more food options spanning across a multitude of aisles. Sometimes, company representatives come to the store and speak about the products. I was able to find my puppy's favorite snack just by general conversation. There are always a lot of toys and clearance items that are great buys. I always end up leaving spending more than I planned whether it be clothing, snacks, toys, you name it. Staff members are also great and always remember my baby. They are helpful with finding items and just answering general questions. I have my baby signed up with the puppy training classes. They are typically $119 for 6 weeks but me and my boyfriend caught a deal on them for $89. We are on our 3rd week and it's helped a ton. My baby can now sit, lay down, and be more patient and obedient. Mike, the in house trainer, is great and really takes the time to get to know your pup. I think he does private classes too so I definitely plan to look into that. I can't speak on the grooming department. They always look busy and seem to do a good job when I watch the groomers while waiting on my vet appointments. Overall, this is the place to go if you have a pet in the area. This is not about getting something for free it is only about Customer Service or there the lack of. On Sunday March 19, 2017, I called the Pet Smart ((Store# 1510) to arrange a cut and shampoo for one of our pups for Saturday, Mar 25 2017 @ 11:30am. On arrival we we're informed they could not find the appointment (this was not the first time this had happen). Then stated with an slight (I'm doing you a favor attitude) are next appointment is Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at this I decided to just go back home. So this morning still upset about the entire issue, I called the store wanting to speak to a manager and relay my dis-satisfaction. Of course the manager Philip is never in or available, at hearing i wanted to speak to the manager the groomer stated they now can do it on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 for free. This really pissed me off as if grooming our beloved pet for free would change the matter in any way. Therefore, i informed the groomer this is about the lack of customer service as well someone not doing what they get paid to do yet again. We have been going to this Pet Smart for over 4 years and within that time the service as well as customer service has declined sharply. Both me and my Husband are baffled why the District Manager or Corporate Office have not addressed these matters considering the store Yelp, FaceBook and Google rating is below an acceptable standard, or does the customer no longer matter? Therefore, this morning Sunday, March 26, 2017, I was able to make an appointment at the Pet Smart (Store# 2347) on IKEA Blvd Charlotte, NC 28262. On walking in to the store I was greeted good morning and shown where the grooming department was. On entering the grooming solan the attitude was light and respectable. The staff was extremely polite, listened to my needs and gently took our pet to begin the grooming process. At this I noticed Harley (our pet) was less nervous and scared, which made me wonder how he was being treating at Store# 1510. I was so appalled at the blatant uncaring attitude towards my 3 year old Japanese Chin that I took my dog and walked out ! Kelly was cool and standoffish towards me (a red flag that I should have noticed) At no time did she even look at, much less try to be friendly towards my dog. I have NEVER had a groomer not allow a dog to smell them or not attempt to talk to or pet ANY of my dogs prior to attempting to put on the groomers leash but Kelly did just that ...My curious little fella immediately sunk to the floor and began to try to scoot backwards towards me. I thought it was because she was unknown to him and attempted to reassure him as I assisted with getting the groomers leash on. Once the leash was on, little fella wimpered a little so I got down on his level while the groomer remained standing. I gave her the leash and she still made no attempt to say or do anything to increase his comfort level. Bewildered, Lil Fella sat down and Kelly pulled the leash THAT WAS AROUND HIS NECK ... BASICALLY TRYING TO DRAG HIM BY HIS NECK. That's when I advised that I do not want him pulled by his neck and Kelly stopped. However by this time my dog is on his hind legs trying to get his head out of the leash. I was done ! If Kelly was that cold and uncaring right in front of me, I can only imagine how she treats dogs when their people are out of sight. We will never go back and I'm going to tell every Pet owner that will hold still long enough about how this "pet care professional" treated my furbaby. read more

We have continued to come here to get our dogs nails grinded mainly because of their convenient hours on Sunday's. It is the only day of the week where we can both bring them. I checked before us even coming to make sure they were still open until 7:00, the site still says they are. We got there at 5:40 and was turned away by the two employees back there. They said they now close at 6:00. Even if that is the case, you had 20 minutes to do a 5 minute job. Every time we've been there we just see lazy, careless people.
