After picking up our dog from sophisticuts, he was covered in bald spots(we specifically asked do NOT shave), cuts, and clumps of long matted hair. The groomer also felt the need to make unnessicary comments on the physical appearance of the person picking him up. This was very unprofessional. They may have been having a bad day, but our dog is not going to want to go back after that experice. Poor boy keeps hiding his face looking pitiful. read more

We have been bringing our pure-bred Bichon Frise, Teddy, to Nicole at Sophisicuts for many years. I am VERY particular that he is cut like a "show dog", not a puppy cut", and Nicole never lets me down. She has always been extremely professional and kind, and he is always happy and handsome when done!! I have gone to many other groomers around Lake Norman before finding Nicole, and no one come close to the accuracy and quality of the cut. Sophosticuts is above and beyond everyone else in the area, especially if you have a pure bred dog. I've taken my dog to this salon 2 times prior to this and had a good experience, but I guess it's because he only got bathed. Today, I took him and asked for a mini cut which is just to clean up his private areas, feet, and face. When I picked him up my goldendoodle was shaved to his skin and had several niches and razor burn. Tell me how that happens. The groomer told me it was because he was matted, which one his chest area was the only part that was partly matted, but my biggest concern is they decided to do this, without even thinking about picking up the phone to ask my permission. Which obviously I would've said no. This is the winter time it's getting cold and now my dog has literally no hair. If you were to lazy to brush him you should've not taken the job. I bought the recent Groupon that Sophisticuts ran as my little four-legged man needed a major haircut. Boy, am I glad I did! I loved Nicole! She's the most personable groomer I've ever met! And I've been to my fair share of groomers. They had great customer service on the phone when making the appointment and were very thorough discussing how I wanted my little mans hair cut. Awful experience today with Sophisticuts grooming! After driving 20 minutes back home with my toddler they text me and tell me it'd be an extra $20 to brush her or they can shave her. I told them to not do anything I'll just pick her up and take her somewhere else as I wouldn't be able to afford $60 plus $20 and I did not want to have them shave her. When I arrived she said it'd be $20! I said for what? I told you not to do anything. The owner went on arguing with me saying "we don't do anything for free". I ended up paying and feel extremely ripped off! I don't expect things for free however if I specifically tell you not to do something I shouldn't be charged for something you do! read more

I thought I'd try this place out just for a bath on my two little ones. Normally we travel a mile and a day to our groomer. Wanted someplace closer to home. Well, after the bath, my little girl, who may be squirmy but doesn't bit, had crunchy still around her mouth. If the bath was no better than that I fear what a full grooming would be. Perhaps I have been spoiled, but this is what I found here. I do not like writing bad reviews on any business, so my suggestion would be to try it yourself. Wouldn't hurt a thing to do that. I don't think the dogs were afraid or traumatized, but simply not clean. :-( read more

Love that I found this great MOBILE GROOMER--SOPHISTICUTS!! Nicole has groomed my Yorkshire Terrier, Scooter, twice now. She did exactly as I asked and he always looks so cute!! He is so happy after his grooming sessions too!! When I use to take Scooter to places to be groomed, he was always out of sorts afterwards. He obviously did not enjoy his grooming experience. But now, he is such a happy boy after Nicole grooms him! Big smile on his face and rolls and rolls! I definitely recommend Nicole! Plus, she is always very prompt!! This was the worst experience I have had at a grooming salon. They did not tell me that they closed early and then called me to tell me to come pick my dog up within an hour. My 2 year old daughter was napping and it was a 30 minute drive. After not informing me that they were closing early and giving me short notice, they wanted to charge me a fee for being late of quite a bit. I said I wasn't going to pay because they had not informed me. They said that I would not be welcome back. Never ever again will I return here. read more

Nicole is awesome. When I first got Mia as a rescue dog of less than a year old, I carried her to several groomers. Nobody would groom her and said that she would have to be sedated every time. I paid 125 to to this. Nicole has groomed Mia and does not even have to use a muzzle on her. She is the only place that Mia feels comfortable going. So happy I found Nicole. read more

Well I have to say that my review is not based on the work completed because they do good work. Mine is based on attitude arrogance and service I have only been here 3 times. First tine I paid $55 a little pricy but the work she did was great. The second time I arrived at my scheduled time along with 3 other people to be told that there was a family emergency. No one bothered to call anyone to let them know I was sympathetic and understanding but they could've called. I texted two days later and asked if all was well and when we could reschedule. I went in the next day and there wasn't even an apology for the inconvenience or even an explanation. I and I am sure the other people were inconvenienced and late for work and there wasn't even a hint of being apologetic and to make matters worse my price went up to $60.00. Again they did good work. The last time I went I took my dog in She had a friends dog wandering around her shop nipping at all the dogs waiting and at peoples feet. Wasn't totally comfortable leveling my dog there but he really needed a groom so I did. I picked him up later and my cost was $70!!!! I said wow did your prices go up again and she said "no" I said really I only paid $60.00 last time and $55 the time before that that's a lot of inflation in less than 6 months?" Her answer "well I guess the prices have gone up again!l." Rudely grabbed my card and took payment. I was so shocked that I left and will not be back! I waited 3 weeks to write this so I would cool off! Rude overpriced disrespectful service is not a place I will go to no matter how good the work is. I think this lady needs to realize that we are paying her not the other way around. read more

Worst service ever! (This is a long one but well worth the read if you're considering using this company). In February I purchased a Living Social voucher for myself and one as a gift for my mom who lives in Davidson which is within the Sophisticuts service area.  The original plan was to drop my rescue dog at mom's house and have Sophisticuts groom her there. My husband called and spoke with Nicole, the owner, who agreed to come to my home in CLT which is less than a 1 minute walk from her other service area of Huntersville to cut my dog's hair.  She came out and did a very nice job. A couple of months later,  my mom's dog dislocated her hip and she did not need  the gift voucher.  By this time both of my dogs needed grooming so I decided to use the gift voucher. Again I called on Nicole at Sophisticuts because she had done a nice job previously.  Again, she agreed to come to my home in CLT to do the grooming. The cuts were just OK this time due to the fact that that the bows fell out of my dog's hair and she could no longer see.  I called Nicole the next day to ask if she could come back out to trim my dog's hair down a bit more.  In that call I had also inquired about 2 expired vouchers that I thought could be applied to the price of the cuts but she had no record of them; no problem. Though she seemed quite standoffish,  we agreed that she would come out that day after 3pm.  She never came that evening and when I called her the next day to find out why she did not show up, she began speaking to me in a loud, condescending manner stating that "I told you to tell your husband to call/text me to confirm the appointment." I certainly never heard her say that he needs to call/text to confirm because I would have told him when I spoke to him immediately after speaking with her.  She then went on to tell me how she went "above and beyond" to accommodate us. Whenever I attempted to speak, she'd cut me off after a few words.  I finally exclaimed to her that I did not appreciate her tone and was trying to support her local business.  I also reminded her that she knew my address from the first time and chose to come out to my home again to do the job.  I also reminded her that I did not want to give her a bad rating but she was being very unprofessional...again she cuts me off mid sentence stating "I'm not going to listen to you try to throw me under the bus" she also stated, "You only bought 2 vouchers (as if to imply that 2 vouchers was not enough)", "I don't know where these other vouchers were to miraculously appear from" then finally "I'm not going to go back and forth with you." At this time, I'd barely had a chance to say anything at all. With that said, be for warned. Nicole is very unprofessional, rude and has 0 customer service skills. read more
